The old thread was getting impossibly slow on my computer, so decided that it was time to create a new one with hopefully Rah and Ready joining us, and with a whole new due date list.....

so MrsM, Momwi - come and start the list and hopefully Rah and Ready will come here now too!!!!!

I am so excited that the temp buddies are back together again, can you tell?!?!?!?

Babylove - it really does sound like you are happier now it is so much better that you are happy and that your baby is and that you can enjoy the precious time rather than it disappearing whilst you worry constantly about feeding. That scrapbook was a lovely idea

Chooster · 10/01/2009 22:00

Hi everyone!

First its fab news for your sis Greedy!!! That must have been a massive worry for her but great that they've seen the heartbeat - thats another hurdle over . Aw, its so lovely that you are so excited - I reckon it must be fab being an Auntie - and your lucky sis will have you on hand to give her loads of advice as well . Hope she's doing well.

Sorry you've had such a hard time bf babylove - for some it just doesn't go smoothly but you really haven't let her down at all. As you've said in your last post if she is much happier on formula then maybe that is the right path to take with her. And she's obviously more settled by the longer sleeping spells, which then means that you are more relaxed and happier too. I really hope you dont feel bad, you've tried and tried it which is a lot more than a huge percentage of mums do. great to hear she was well behaved as well when you were out .

Wow, all these birthdays! Happy birthday to Nelly, Kiki and Honeyapple DS1 - hope all the parties went well and you're all having a well earned glass (bottle?) of wine! . Can;t believe I'll be planning Max's 5th birthday later on this year . Oh, and I measured max today as we were somewhere that had a height chart and I dont think I evern appriciated how tall Kiki is Greeedy! 119cm as she turns 4!!!! Max is 5 in may and is only 112cm and even thats slightly above average I think. How tall is Ellis? Great to hear they've all been good for you .

Hi Ready - I had every test going I have to say. The first time with max because I didn't know any better and just went along with it as the quadruple test was offered as standard. The second time a problem was highlighted at my 12 week scan and I needed numerous tests over the following 9 weeks to determine what the problem was. For me during this time I needed to know what we were up against - I too thought I wouldn't terminate until we found out the nature of my sons problems. I wont go into too many details mainly because I dont think it will help but basically his joints were all fused so he couldn't move at all and he would have no capacity to breathe once born. The prognosis was that he would more likely die before birth but if he did make it that far then he was die as soon as he was born. Faced with that I did terminate my pregnancy and gave birth to him at 21 weeks for his sake as well as my sanity.

Having said all this I can totally appreciate why people do refuse the tests. I know several cases where scans / tests cause unnecessary worry. I reckon you just have to go with what you think is best for you and DP.

And I'm not offended at all Greedy by your comments. Although of course I wish it had never happened I know I did the right thing for me, DH and Ds1. I just couldnt have carried him any longer knowing he would die inside me and I wouldn't know it had happened.

Anyway, sorry to be gloomy... better head off as DH is making grumpy noises as I think he wants to watch a movie !

Chooster · 10/01/2009 22:02

Hi MrsMc!!!! Hopefully you are still online! I bet you are looking forward to Xaviers birthday - wow 1 already!!! Amazing isn't it...

Hope your 20 wk scan is good and you get some good views of B2.
xx

MrsMcJnr · 10/01/2009 22:29

Hey Chooster - sending you a huge hug, it must be so hard to talk about Henry and for what it's worth, I think I would have made the same decision as you xxxx I have a friend here who has just gone through something similar, awful.

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 10/01/2009 23:14

mrsmcjnr! long time no see. do u remember me from the ttc boards when u were ttc your first baby? i see your pregnant again? congratulations!

anyway ive not been on the ttc boards much this time, although i was with my daughter (thats where i met mrsmcjnr) suffered 2 mc this time round ttc, finally made it to 13 weeks now, had my scan and all clear.

so finally i feel like i can join you all again, ive been to scared to jinx it until this point. (silly i know!!)

so thats me!

MrsMcJnr · 11/01/2009 14:15

Hello Natty so lovely to hear from you and congratulations, we'll all send you safe bug vibes and hope you'll have a happy and safe pregnancy.

Well I've spent the whole morning being sick, what is going on?? surely I should be blooming by now now blooming wretched?!

Chooster · 11/01/2009 19:19

Oh Mrsmc I can't believe you are still so poorly! It must be getting you down a bit as its been so long or are you kind of getting used to it in an odd way? Can't believe you've actually lost over half a stone and you are half way through. I bet you'll be hoping numbers 3 and 4 will be boys at this rate .

Welcome natty!! I'm sure I remember you from ttc - were you natty and thomas I think it was at some point? Or am i totally mixing you up with someone else? Either way, great news on your pregnancy - how are you feeling now you are getting past the first few months?

babylove123 · 11/01/2009 19:28

Hi everyone,

Well i am SERIOUSLY broody for number 2! I had a big discussion with DP as to when we can start trying again and i compromised with him to april/march - this yr! I dunno wots got into me, i hated pregnancy, i hated labour but im desp to go through it all again. I need my head read!

Thanks again for the support on the bf - or lack of it. Shes had 2 boobs today so thats quite good!

Congrats to Natty!

scorpio1 · 11/01/2009 19:32

babylove i can't help you - i am eternally broody and ttc no.4 ( I am 24 and have 3 already; Mimi is just 8 months).... you will love it, it will be fine!

babylove123 · 11/01/2009 19:43

Scorpio - thats not helpful! Im 22 so im working on the same as you!!!! hehe

scorpio1 · 11/01/2009 19:45

I mean, ahem, no

So 2 more years for 2 more babies to be the same as me...so do-able!

Seriously though - 2nd time is different to first, no rest, no sleep, always having to take dc1 with you to appts, the worry over dc1 and where they go when you have the baby, will they like dc2, etc etc...and money/space issues. It is very enjoyable though.

babylove123 · 11/01/2009 19:57

The thing that concerns me is the money. Can i be honest and rude really by saying that i know that if i go back to work in aug....then become pg...i'll qualify for mat leave again. However i dont know if i could do that to the company as i'd feel really guilty. As much as im joking about it, i kinda am in turmoil as to what i do with my life.

rainbowdays · 11/01/2009 20:01

mrsmc - can't advise on double buggies as I have never used one. I did sling for short time, then put baby in buggy and used buggy board. Nappy bins - any bin with a lid is what I have used. Nursary stickers - I love winnie the pooh in my dd's room. Good to hear you are feeling a bit better too.

babylove - so good to hear you sounding happier. It is more important to relax and enjoy your daughter than anything else. I also wanted to let you know that just before my period starts each month, my milk supply is not as good, but it catches up again afterwards. So if your body is geting back to af back already, you may find that your supply goes back up again soon and your dd might be more interested again, but even if she doesn't I am glad that she is getting on well with the bottles for you. I can so empathise with your getting broody so quickly. I have each time after being pregnant, no matter how good or bad the pregnancy and birth!

Natty - hi, don't think we have been on boards together before, but recognise your name, congrats on you latest pregnancy.

Hi to everyone else, got to go do the ironing now grrr!

OP posts:
NattyPlus2andAHalf · 12/01/2009 11:35

thanks for all the congrats

scorpio i am SO like you, i was broody for num3 by the time ellen was a year

Chooster i was nattyandthomas, then i became nattythomasandellen.. but i couldnt fit 'and bump' onto that LMAO! i am feeling positive now, it was the downs testing i was scared about most. i already have an autisic son so i was worried from a coping point of view.

rainbowdays you probally reconise me from a number of AIBU threads that went VERY wrong lmao..
ppl dont like me on here

MrsMcJnr: double buggys.
being a mother of soon to be three under 4 i have had my fair share of double buggies...
did u want a side by side or a tandem?

best side by sides are the more solid ones, the umbrella type (maclaren, m&p) tend to last about 6 months.
mothercare do one, as do graco (argos)

if u want a tandem, the mothercare hoxen, hoxtom something like that, or the cosatto duet lite (argos, toysrus) we found fabby, very small, u can also put a carrycot insert (u know the fabric kinds) into it for extra support.

it all depends on you needs, if ur a public transporter, get a tandem most bus drivers wont let a side by side on.
if its about fitting in a car get a side by side cos the tandems are very long. (make sure u measure u boot and check b4 buying, i MAY have made that mistake b4 )

how is everyone??

Ready · 12/01/2009 17:28

Thanks so much for the responses to my questions? I have lots more? are you ready for them?

MrsMc 30 May (wrong, wrong, wrong more like 6 June) (girl)
Ready 9 July (surprise)

I am 14+4 and I definitely look pregnant when I am naked? but when I am clothed no one would know I don?t think. I am a size 12, and my work trousers are still fitting well.

Fettle, phew, that made me feel better what you said. I am obviously aware that there can be issues to deal with, but I would rather not think about the risks and enjoy this long awaited pregnancy.

MrsMc, how are you feeling? Any better? Have you suffered with ?morning? sickness with both pregnancies? What good things would you say about the bugaboo? I really want one, and have wanted one for as long as I can remember ? and friends keep trying to put me off and I want positive things to use as ammo in my defence.

Greedy, I understood what you meant, and I don?t think you would have offended anyone. It is a very personal thing isn?t it.

Rainbowdays, goodness me, how did you go to 20 weeks without showing!! I know I will be obviously pregnant by 20 weeks.

Babylove, at your rosy picture of pregnancy ? I know what you mean though. How are you getting on with feeding dd?

Chooster I am so sorry to hear about Henry and his fused bones, I think that your decision to terminate was definitely the right thing for you and your family. No one should judge you. I certainly don?t. No one can know how they will be in situations until they are living it.

honeyapple, you used reusable nappies didn?t you? how can I convince dh that they are the way to go?

Bodkin, did you ever think I would get here? I am excited that my baby might share Isla?s birthday ? that would be cool!!

Seaside, can?t believe Cassius will be 1! How fast does time fly!

Lastbox, how are you feeling??

Hope everyone is doing well????

iamamummy · 12/01/2009 20:48

ready - i had the triple test but only really cos i felt i had to but even if the results had of been bad i would not have had an amnio so looking back i could have potentially added worry to myself for no reason. just decide what is right for you.

i didnt show until i was about 22 weeks...and i never bought any maternity trousers! i had a very high bump and remained size 12 throughout...leggings were a godsend though for comfort!! however maternity trousers would come in handy as i have ballooned up to a 14

big hellos to everyone else xxxxxxxxxxxx miss u all xxxxxxx

oh can i just ask what everyone did about the mmr jab? i have heard so many scare stories from people about it being linked to autism and i just dont know what to decide...

MrsMcJnr · 12/01/2009 20:55

Hey ladies, sitting here (on my ball) desperately trying to soothe my groin muscles must have been one move too far for Mummy in the park this morning and I had to hobble all the way home, it?s agony!

Chooster ? hey there Chooster yes, got off lightly with Xavier, I didn?t know the meaning of sickness then!! Luckily the sick days are getting further apart now and I suspect anyway that I did too much and didn?t eat enough on Sat and that is why I felt so awful yesterday! I?m not down about it but I do feel guilty, as if Xavier only has ½ a Mummy on the bad days I bet I?ll have put on some weight at my next appointment though as I have had a better appetite (anomaly scan on Thurs, scary!) I have to admit, I do hope the next pg is more like Xavier?s than the others I?ve been through (or partly through!) DH is getting funny about 4 DCs now he thinks he?ll be too old and all because I said I?d like to wait until B2 is 1yr before trying for B3, I?ll only be 36 .. hey ho he?s still up for a 3rd and there are plenty more years left after that to persuade him if you ask me and I have also found a German company who make triple buggies what a good memory you have for remembering Natty?s full name back in those days!

Wooow Babylove ? let your DD have a babyhood for a while before you think about siblings! DH and I had always agreed we?d try for another in the summer after DS was born but when the summer came, I wanted to push the months forward a bit as felt DS was still too small. He?s still small but I am glad I had 7 months just thinking about him alone and not the next one too. I have to admit, age was a big thing for us, at 35 I can?t hang around too much if I want a few more kids! Re work, hey lady, that?s the way the system is, we didn?t invent it and your are entitled to a family; don?t feel the slightest bit of guilt over it.

Hey Scorpio I thought it was 3 of your own plus a step son you had already! I agree that the 2nd time round is different. I feel guilty for not thinking about B2 enough as through my pregnancy with DS I thought about him so much more. I guess that?s Motherhood for you, guilt about everything!!

Rainbowdays ? thanks for your thoughts on my product questions

Natty ? what have you been up to on the AIBU threads then hon? wonder what flavour baby you?ll have this time, do you know? My baby is a girl so like you I?ll have a boy and then a girl thanks for your help on the double buggy front. I think I?d like a side by side. I walk a lot and need to be able to feed both babies food in the buggy when out and about (and of course when B2 is old enough!) I would also like a carrycot for B2 because it is just to hot to have a foot muff on in the summer here (did you know I am in Spain now?) but a carry cot was perfect for DS this summer. I was looking at the First Wheels City Elite twin last night and it seemed to tick a lot of my boxes, have you heard of it?

Ready ? hey pregnant lady! any vibes on your baby?s sex? I?ve had very strong feelings both times and been right but only once I got past about 16 weeks. I?m good really thanks, and no, never really suffered before at all. I had a sea sick feeling with the last 2 pgs but now I know what MS really means! I only have good things to say about the bugaboo. I love mine, I am so pleased that we went for that (even if we now have to change it ) Here?s 10 things I love about my bugaboo (and there are so many more):
? The carry cot is a great size and I only moved DS out of it when he started to chew the zip, it was great for going out and about and he could roll over in it, also great for changing nappies in as there are very few facilities for that here in Spain.
? Now that he is in the seat, it is fab that he can face both ways, very handy. I like having him facing me most of the time but it is nice to have a choice.
? For feeding it sits really upright and as you can move the handle bar over, you can pull it up to a table like a high chair.
? It is great to have the 3 settings for the seat, he can lie flat to sleep, relax back to watch the world go by and sit up straight to eat. You can also change settings with the baby in it which you can?t do with all buggies.
? The visability is great for the baby, much better than a lot of friend?s buggies; DS is quite happy sitting in it looking around.
? All the materials including the foot muff and fabric (we got canvass) wash really well.
? Because the seat uses the same frame as the carrycot there is very little to store when you change over which is great if you don?t have much space at home.
? There is plenty of storage space under the seat for shopping/baby paraphernalia.
? It has an adjustable height for the handle bars which is great if people of varying heights push it about.
? There is a beach mode; very handy for us!
Only criticism I have is that they don?t do a double buggy! I honestly didn?t want a bugaboo, I thought it was just a statement but it is worth every penny (and they hold their value well too)

Iammummy ? hey there! Re the jag, I think I?ll have Xavier inoculated, I feel that the diseases it protects from are the greater evil. It is going to be tricky getting it here privately though, wish they?d hurry up with our social security docs.

greedygreedyguzzler · 13/01/2009 11:03

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much to say and i am already late for my next patient so cant say hardly any of it!

whoever said about MMR being linked to autism................it isnt! it was acouple of very inaccurate research projects that were done a while ago and they came to some very dodgy conclusions which have since been disproved but the rumours still linger on! i wouldnt hesitate at all to give the MMR

have lots to say about double buggies too! and nappy bins........................i'll be back!

honeyapple · 13/01/2009 11:10

hiya

iamamummy- dex has his MMR on thurs- I am TOTALLY PRO having ALL jabs- there is NO evidence that links MMR with autism. Sorry but I really get annoyed by people over this subject. Our children are SO LUCKY to have these innoculations that KILL or DISABLE thousands of children all over the world every year.... right anyway...

Ready- yup I used reusable/washable naps with Dex (although have to say my DP had very little to do with them...) anyway I really loved using them when he was little especially when they get through so many nappies pooing all the time- they are cheaper in the long run as well as being environmentally better (simply not taking up space in land fill sites mainly- some argue that the washing is less eco-friendly...) The nappylady is a good website to get more info. I liked totsbots fluffles and motherese wraps when he was little- or bimbles. Have to say I use them less now he is walking as they seemed to interfere with movement. Need to look into some slimmer fitting ones. I wouldnt spend masses on a birth to potty pack- would recommend you get about 5 small sized nappies and 2 small wraps to start with- and then get a few more different styles to see which you prefer/ which fit your baby best. I think disposable nappy liners are great for newborns- you can put them in a regular disposable nappy is you want and then just chuck the poo and keep the nappy- newborns poo all the time.
I keep adding to my nappy 'collection' with different cute patterned ones etc... Dex has a lovely tiger stripe one and some velvety ones.

mrs- I think 4 babies is quite a lot to manage! It gets really hard giving each child their own special time and attention. I'm not sure I could spread myself enough to have any more children- and still have time for me and DP.

Really should be painting as Dex is asleep... but can't be ar**d...

honeyapple · 13/01/2009 11:14

ha greedy- you beat me to it!

as for double buggies- never used one so take my opinion with a large dash of salt- but have to say- I HATE PHIL AND TEDs- that poor baby in the shopping basket... breathing in car fumes and having bugger all to look at... (sorry to any phil and ted owners).
I have seen that city wheels one- looks very nice and i like the carrycot bit- although pretty MASSIVE and not one for the shops... I think a sling for newborn and normal buggy is best to start of with and then go for a maclaren side by side thing.

nappy bins- why???? Yuck- why do you want smelly nappies hanging around your house??? Another good reason to use washables or at least flushable liners...

can you see i am feeling opinionated today??

greedygreedyguzzler · 13/01/2009 11:41

sorry that sounded very bossy and know it all about the mmr didn't it. wasnt meant to, thats just my take on it............ (which is right by the way!!)

greedygreedyguzzler · 13/01/2009 11:49

OMG honey ! we are very similar in lots of ways (which i would never have thought really!) MMR controvesy is a real pet hate of mine too!

at least i tried to back track a bit and make my opinions a bit more flowery though!!

i also agree on nappy bins!! i had one with ellis........yuk! they stink! either of nappies or the horrible smell that they try to use to disguise them!

i ALSO agree on the whole 4 children thing (although i know scorpio and rainbow days are both mad enough to be ttc no.4) i think spreadin myself between the 3 of mine is very hard at the moment and i wouldnt feel fair on the ones i have if i had anymore (although there is always a little voice in my head saying, 'what difference would one more make') its especially evident now ellis has started getting more homework and i have to struggle to read his reading books with him every night with marcy clambering all over me and kiki thrusting disney fairies in my face. i feel so sorry for him and he is such a bright boy and so eager to learn that i cant help thinking of how much more i could be doing with him if only i had the time. anyway.....................next patient awaites.......

greedygreedyguzzler · 13/01/2009 11:50

i didnt read your post before i apologised honey, or i wouldnt have bothered feeling bad!

Chooster · 13/01/2009 13:02

Everyone's a bit fiesty today!!! .

I dont fit into the Honey / Greedy camp in that MMR debates are not a pet hate for me but I don't think there is any substance to the autism stories. Having said that for my own peace of mind I did speak to my HV about whether the MMR or seperate jabs were better. There was never any question in my mind that I would not have the innoculations - just that I may opt out of the MMR. After all, as honey says I do feel lucky that my kids can have them. There are plenty of children who for medical reasons can't have them done and I'd hate to think I'd contributed to an already sick child getting ill from mumps because I hadn't done enough to stop it spreading - if you see what i mean.

Anyway the reasons why I opted for the MMR was that a) it gets it all over in one hit rather than having 3 seperate jabs over 3 months b) the seperate jabs are not produced in the UK and there are very strict guidelines about how to transport innoculations etc. This was only a minor thing but in all the MMR seemed the best way forward for us.

Hi Mrsmc!!! Wow, its amazing to hear you already planning for 3 and when you may get about it . I struggle to find enough individual time with the 2 that I have, but I guess thats because I squeeze in a 4 day a week job as well. In my case I think my boys would not get enough of me if I had another child... In fact I'm thinking that I may drop down to 3 days a week. I'm struggling with 4 and find myself working most evenings to keep on top of it all. Generally I'm feeling a bit shit about it... The only problem is that redundancy is a strong possibility this year so I'd rather be made redundant as a 4 day a week person rather than 3 (actually chooster ponders how much difference it would actually make - Must check!!!).

MrsMc - Good to hear that the sickness is getting a bit better, even if you do have off days... I agree on the nappy bins, ours was really stinky, and didn;t have one for Theo but I guess you'll need it as you are in an aparment and taking nappies out a lot would be difficult???

right - 2 mins late for a meeting - shit, shit... I just feel i am constantly late for things these days (fettle, you def made the right decision giving up work )

honeyapple · 13/01/2009 13:02

heh greedy- i think we have quite a lot of similar views!

As for homework- ahhhhh- DS1 has SO much homework and I never have the time to go through it all with him. And then I have to read with DD every day too.
