Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of really premature rutured membranes ?

My waters went on monday as a result of an infection i picked up having an emergency stitch put in last week.

Babys fine and the stitch is still holding, i've not gone in to labour but obviously this is a grim situation and we're likely to lose our baby boy.

I'm on some wacking great antibiotics which are making me feel hideous but i have been discharged from hospital, there is nothing mroe they can do there apparently so i am home on bedrest praying babys lungs develop and he stays put for a few more weeks to at least give him a chance.

Does anyone know anyne who has been though this ?

Oh wow.

That has made my day

Thankyou (and your friends) so much !

You've brought tears to my eyes

Beachcomber · 15/12/2008 17:51

Sorry to hear of this huge strain for you.

My waters tend to go early and I have been advised to take LOADS of natural vitamin C (body absorbs it better than synthetic) to help strengthen the amniotic sack.

Something like acerola powder is good, you can get it in any good health food shop (read the labels, some of them contain aspartame/sorbitol which is best avoided).

Big hugs and best of luck to you and yours. Take care.

WorzselMincepieYummage · 17/12/2008 16:47

Thanks everyone

I had a scan today and there was some fluid ! whoop only 1 small measurable pool but thats better then last week and babys still fine

Nothing else to report really, consultant said he was pleased that the fluid was incresing and so am i. Very leaky night last night so i am sure the pool would have been bigger yesterday but thats always the way isnt it.

We got a lovely view of baby opening and closing his mouth which reminded me that he is still a baby, this pregnancy has been so medicalised that i'd kind of lost sight of that so it was night to realise that i am still having a baby even though it might not be in the homebirthy type way i wanted it to be.. even if baby doest survive he'll still be our son and we still love him.

I haven't been posting on here as much mainly because its pretty uneventfull not and also because i don't want to drag anyone else pregnancy down with my worry, I so appreciate all your kind messages and am kind of amazed that this post has so many replys !

Thanks again

WorzselMincepieYummage · 17/12/2008 16:53

wozel couldnt read and not post. I have a lady while i was preggy with dd2 and her wtares had broken before 24 weeks. She had been there on the ward for 7 weeks when i met her and baby was still doing well. Her waters did replinish a little but she said it took a while, and really not much water. She delivered 33 weeks, baby was small but fine.
I wanted to share this story, and hopinbg your ok and hanging on in there. Sending you lots of sticky thoughts

MadamDeathstarOverBethlehem · 17/12/2008 17:15

I'm wishing you all the best Worzel and that everything starts getting better for you and the baby.

My friend was 2 lbs when she was born at 28 weeks back in 1965. She is now a 6 ft tall ex-RAF woman.
