Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of really premature rutured membranes ?

My waters went on monday as a result of an infection i picked up having an emergency stitch put in last week.

Babys fine and the stitch is still holding, i've not gone in to labour but obviously this is a grim situation and we're likely to lose our baby boy.

I'm on some wacking great antibiotics which are making me feel hideous but i have been discharged from hospital, there is nothing mroe they can do there apparently so i am home on bedrest praying babys lungs develop and he stays put for a few more weeks to at least give him a chance.

Does anyone know anyne who has been though this ?

aaah worzel what a little poppet, he's just perfect! Well done on the breast milk, that is so wonderful that you are doing that for him!

Jacksmama · 23/01/2009 17:00

Ooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

Jacksmama · 23/01/2009 17:03

LOL LOL Jackbaby is sleep-nursing on my lap and making loud "mmmmm mmmm mmmm" sounds around my nipple and it tickles!!!!

{Things to look forward to when George comes home! )

Northernlurker · 23/01/2009 17:09

You could use the infection control angle with your mil - point out to her that it puts George at risk of infection if anybody else were to handle him however lovely they are and that you know she will agree that you can't risk it.

eekamoose · 23/01/2009 17:15

Just got to say George is truly truly scrumptious. Well done to you all!

x eek x

oopsacoconut · 23/01/2009 19:54

Worzel - he is truely delicious - it is amazing how he has grown and chubbed out since the last photos. You are doing an amazing job

jabberwocky · 23/01/2009 22:38

worzel, he is sooo cute!

I'm glad the compression is working for you with pumping. I always got more when I did it. As far as with feeding I never really did it. IIRC you can do it if they are doing lots of short feeds and you want to get more hind milk in them for the calories.

The NNU at the hospital I was in don't allow anyone other than parents to hold the baby, in the nursery they do allow grandparents but say they don't because not everyone wants their baby held. Ask the hospital to say that it's parents only.

He's gorgeous, Tink loves the pics too she pointed out the NG tube and we had a chat about Sîan had one and she had one. She's just told me it was to put milk in her tummy - bless.

JacksmamaSaysIHeartTheRev · 24/01/2009 19:11

Awwwww!!! Hi TBMaF2, how are you and your sweeties?

I showed Tink's pic to DH who is a huge Disney fan (hence the trips to Disneyland, LOL) and he said she totally lookes like Tink, too cute!

Is that pile of ironing gone?

TinkerBellesMumandFiFi2 · 25/01/2009 22:54

She certainly has grown into her name! My neice couldn't say her name when we told her and it came out as Tinker Belle (well Tinter Belle actually) it was two days before she was born and the name stuck.

We're all doing well, Sîan has been a little difficult with her feeds but she's still a little jaundiced so she's getting very sleepy. Of course it is a cycle that if she doesn't feed she gets sleepy so she doesn't feed. But even so she's going the right way. She was 5lb on Friday!

JacksmamaSaysIHeartTheRev · 26/01/2009 01:08

Wow, what a chubster, 5 lbs!
That's great!

abdnhiker · 27/01/2009 10:24

Just popping on to say I'm thrilled to hear George arrived safely and I'm sending hugs your way.

Cor Blimy !

A new look Mumsnet and i cant find my post !

Sorry i have not been on atall, i'm not at home much at the moment and when i am i'm pumping and i have given up trying to type at the same time for fear of drowing the laptop in breasmilk.

Unfortunatly JM your Harry Potter wand didnt make much of an inpact on my ironing stack but never mind, i've moved ( with levicorpus ) it in to our room and thrown put it next to my chair/cloths pile.. out of sight out of mind. Thanks for trying though

How are you all, Tink 5lb eh... massive !

George is doing well really, the poor love gets terrible reflux though and is on an absolute concoction of drugs to try and help it, its his only problem really though and we think all the desatting is linked in to it because he gets so uncomfortable. They tell me at about 34 weeks he's probably grow out of it *crosses fingers... He's 32 weeks exactly today and a few grams under 3lb.

His rate of weight gain has slowed right down so they have put him on breastmilk fortifyer to fatten him up.

The expressing is going well, domperidone is great. I am getting 80ml in the day and 130 ml at night . I am going to have tio start feeding adam rice puddings and having lots of deserts with custard soon though, we have a freezer full. The more i get the better i feel though, its strangly satisfying.

errrrm.. i havent checked in for so long i cant think what else i need to say.

hope your all well.. what do you think of the new layout ?

Wow Worzel - fantastic milk supply! I can't believe George has been here a month already and a whopper at almost 3lbs!! Just think this time next month you could be taking him home as a great big 6lber.

{{hugs}} for you all.

babyalfie · 02/02/2009 23:12

oh just followed all this...

lizzytee · 03/02/2009 13:52

So glad to hear your update W, sounds like George is doing well, as are you. I found this point with dd very strange - at about 5 weeks she turned the corner in terms of respiratory support, the oxygen and desats started to reduce but it was still a while before we had a clear route to discharge. TBH this was the point where it all got on top of me emotionally, but it's different for everyone.

But, in the best possible way, it's great that there isn't too much to tell us.....(feed and grow, feed and grow George )

WorzselMummage · 04/02/2009 22:01

JM how are you feeling now lovely ? *passes hot lemon and whiskey honey

I hope your feeling better and your laptop has recovered too errrm and your phone ! ( your not having much luck are you !

Lizzir it is starting to feel like i live in the hospital now, george is 5 weeks old and i want him home now, i have had enough of beeps and tubes and wires and we're probably only half way through.. still at least we are half way though and not at the beginning again, it feels like a lifetime ago but asif it all happened yesterday too, weirdy !

Just got home from the hospital and the little man is 3lb3 now ! I cant believe how much he's changed really. The little toad keeps desatting really badly whenever i tr to have loves though so i'm not realy getting any cuddles at the moment.. depressing.com . other than the oxygen issues he's doing really well [proud emoticon]

Right, i am off to have a beer !

love to you all xx

(get well soon JM! )
