Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of really premature rutured membranes ?

My waters went on monday as a result of an infection i picked up having an emergency stitch put in last week.

Babys fine and the stitch is still holding, i've not gone in to labour but obviously this is a grim situation and we're likely to lose our baby boy.

I'm on some wacking great antibiotics which are making me feel hideous but i have been discharged from hospital, there is nothing mroe they can do there apparently so i am home on bedrest praying babys lungs develop and he stays put for a few more weeks to at least give him a chance.

Does anyone know anyne who has been though this ?

Congratulations Worzel! (Was commenting on your prem thread when I got the news).

Baby George looks lovely, make sure you look after yourself too and eat proper meals, I don't think I had one meal while DS1 was in SCBU!

Been lurking (with baited breath for you).

Your son was born at the exact moment I was having an amniocentesis. That really made me cry tears of joy for you.

He's totally scrummy, BTW

CONGRATULATIONS Worzsel and welcome baby George. Have only just managed to log on again after being away from home and internet, and I'm so delighted for you (and relieved) that I'm crying my eyes out! Doh! Bloody well done.

JumpingJellyfish · 03/01/2009 13:33

Oh Worszel- he is so gorgeous (and reminds me so much of my DS when he was born- even though he was pretty big at 3lb- brings tears to my eyes). You have done sooooo well. Is George on CPAP (saw on the first picture he is but not on second)? My DS also was born breathing (big shock as had had no time for antenatal steroids) but tired quickly so was on CPAP for a week, then lo-flo O2 just for a few days so quite quickly got the hang of breathing all by himself (though would forget fairly frequently, just to keep us on our toes ). I am so amazed at how well George is doing- he sure is one strong lil fighter. Really hope the SCBU journey is a smooth one.

I had emcs with both my DCs and both times started driving after 4 weeks (with DS I was otherwise relying on friends/taxis etc. to get to SCBU which was maddening as DH had to return to work 1 weeks after he was born)- I was just advised to see my GP, who basically asked me how I felt (I'd healed quickly) and said did I think I'd be able to do an emergency stop adequately- he reckoned I was ok to drive again so just called our insurance company, advised them of this and hey presto! But those 4 weeks did seem to last forever...

Hope you keep recovering well, keeping your little man and all your family in our thoughts- lots of little kisses to George xxx

Morning all

George is doing fine, he was breating on his own initially but then tired and was on cpap for a while which he kicked up a stink about so they took it off, there seems to be a pattern that he has it off for a while and then on again as he starts to have bradys when he gets worn out, he's not on 02 just lo flo air but they tell me thats just giving him the little bit of support he needs. He does like the nasal thingy though, creates a right racket whenever he has it in

My milks coming in so i am punping like crazy, someing wonderfully satistying about doing it because it really is the only thing i can do.. not that i am complaining to be honest, its nice to have some of the pressure lifted from me. The last few months have been emotionally exhausing.

I'm sorry i have not been on much really, being about to do stuff again is odd because i feel like i need to do everything NOW lol. Feel much better in general though it's nice not to be pregnant again really. It's odd how it the hormones change you isnt it and it's so damn uncomfortable.

I have some more pictures for you, I tried to upload them on here but my computer skills are somewhat lacking so i soon abandoned that.

If anyone wants to add me to their facebok my name is Sarah McBride and the picture is my hand and a tiny foot

Jacksmama, i will indeed email you later ( we just have to pop to the shops, its dd's birthday tomorrow and we are mega disorganised ! ) but there really is no need atall to send me anything, your support has been enough and i'd love to keep in touch xx

Good morning!!
I'm sooooooo happy that George is doing well, my mum and I had tears in our eyes staring at his picture... he's just so yummy!! I've sent his pic to my gf's and gotten lots of "oooooooooooooohhhhhhh"s back, so he's one admired baby!
We know there's "no need" to send him a present, we just want to!
