Tee2072 · 12/12/2008 16:45

I really don't get these celebrities naming their babies these silly things. Really, I have to agree, what is wrong with Robert, or Stanley, or Rebecca or Abagail?

mrsboogie · 12/12/2008 16:46

ooh Abigail is nice - you never meet anyone called it either...

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 12/12/2008 16:58

Yeah, I really like Abigail. My DH actually doesn't hate it either! We might have a girls name!

Tee2072 · 12/12/2008 17:12

And now this thread is cracking me up: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/662952-I-now-regret-that-I-can-39-t-buy-personalised

hahahah. Guess Bronx Mowgli will never have a mug with her (his?) name on it!

johnworf · 12/12/2008 17:46

mrsb there's about 4 abi's in DSS's class

hedgepig · 12/12/2008 18:34

when I was watching Ben swim yesterday another mum (who I don't know so I didn't say anything) was talking about her sons Ben and Oliver, how freaky is that to know someone has named both their children the same names as you?
we had a very interesting evening yesterday, Ben threw up all over his bed, himself and the stairs. He seem a lot better now and there has been no repeat vomiting thank heavens.

Tee2072 · 12/12/2008 18:49

Oh god, hedgepig sorry to hear that! Maybe something he ate?

hedgepig · 12/12/2008 19:00

thanks Tee, he seem most perky now so that is great. Maybe it was my cooking experiments although there a lot of bugs about at the moment.
It's Friday so I'm having a G&T yummm

mrsboogie · 12/12/2008 19:22

ohh one thing I am not looking forward to is the puking all over the bed and stairs.. baby puke is ok but anything else eeuww. DS1 was always v good at getting it in the loo - unlike me as a child who used to do it up and down the stairs which didn't go down too well with my OCD/hygiene/cleanliness obsessed mum!

I am also partakingof a Friday G and T. Courtesy of my OH who bought me a lemon tree as one of my birthday presents and stuck a bottle of gin and tonic in the plant pot

s'funny that, 'cos my workmates bought me a sort of pamper hamper as a present after D was born and that contained a v large bottle of gin as well. hmmm...

OP posts:
johnworf · 12/12/2008 19:48

mrsb well they do say it's mother's little helper...or is it mother's ruin? Has your gin habit got out ?

Hope that Ben is feeling better hedgepig. Lots of bugs about at the mo.

DH has another migraine this evening so I'm left holding the baby. Literally. Ah well, it's soap night and I'm feeling full of fish n chips so can't complain.

I'm having a cruise around some websites as I'm feeling like some retails therapy. Boden have a sale on

mrsboogie · 12/12/2008 20:03

aye, 'fraid so jw I do like a G and T but when it was the height of summer and I was heavily preggers in a boiling hot office I used to say that I would love a G and T. Must have said it with feeling cos its obviously stuck in people's heads.

I'm doing a bit of shoppin meself here jw I fookin' love the internet - don't have to set foot outside the door to buy Christmas presents.

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 12/12/2008 20:29

Oh G&T makes me cry - I get all shouty and weepy after just one. I'm a vodka lady myself....I'm just dreaming of a Moscow Mule....MMMmmmm

tee a few Abigails here - nice name - I like it.

hedgepig good to see the sickness has dried up at your place Hate clearing up sick!

Verity hasn't done a poo all day She's not happy about it and neither am I cos I know who's gonna have to sort that out in the dead of the night! I think it's the banana wot did it.....blimey, she scoffed so much and I'd added baby rice too....eek!

Mince pie. Mince Pie

mrsboogie · 12/12/2008 20:32

I had a mince pie today - from Pret - v nice but the Sainsbury ones are the best IMO.

OP posts:
johnworf · 12/12/2008 20:35

jj I've finished off all the mince pies here and I'm resisting buying anymore cos I'll eat 'em!

Poor Verity being banana bound. It'll come out eventually

Used to love gin and vodka (although not together). Gin got me pissed and so did vodka. I was barred from drinking cider many years ago by my ex husband as I used to want to fight someone - usually him. ahem. Now I'm an alcohol free zone. I've some cranberry juice in the fridge that I'm rather looking forward to or errrr if I'm out (thinks far far back) I do like a strawberry dacquiri (virgin) Ah yes, gone are the days of necking a bottle of tequila, a whole lemon and a tub of salt

mrsb I do so love shopping online. You know when the postman comes with it, I always clap my hands together and shriek with surprise as I'm signing. And I always say to him 'I wonder what it is'? And he looks puzzled. Rightly so as I'm the daft bint that ordered the thing in the first place! Hah. I'm a puddin'.

Tee2072 · 12/12/2008 20:54

I'm a vodka and whisky girl, myself. Not together, obviously! And I drink both of them straight. Vodka on the rocks, whisky no ice, no water.

Not this year though!

jeanjeannie · 12/12/2008 21:28

Oooooo, stop it. I now fancy a red wine...a blackcurranty one, with a hint of cinammon and cloves.... But, BF has put the kybosh on all of that....plus my total inability to have more than one glass and not feel wrecked

Heard about the chap in the states who's defrauded people of 50 billion dollars? Cor, you could have done a lot of internet shopping with that...

mrsboogie · 12/12/2008 21:28

oh blimey - couldn't do that tee tend to drink a bit too fast for that - I would be under the table in ten minutes flat!

haha I love it when the stuff arrives too jw we have a teeny weeny issue here cos I always make OH get out of bed to answer the door when the couriers come, trouble is I buy a lot of stuff from Next and the same bloke always delivers it and every single time he sees fit to make some comment like "oooh here's another one from Next for her - she does like Next doesn't she haha" or "what is it this time - go on what is it?" OH hates it and reckons I am not to buy any more stuff off Next online

also have the same kind of thing with a bloke who couriers shoes for Viva la Diva "more shoes for her"

ahem

/stuffs credit card bills under sofa cushion...

Evening all. I too get excited when postie delivers yet another parcel from Amazon/Johnny Lew/Boots/Play.com/Anywhere really, but it's especially thrilling at the moment because the guy has long nails painted bright pink and so I have to take a deep breath and arrange my expression before opening the door so my eyes don't shoot straight to his fingers. Fortunately some of my neighbours have noticed and we swap notes 'ooh, I got nail polish man twice yesterday!' 'you lucky think, i only got him once.' etc etc

johnworf · 13/12/2008 07:39

haha@cross dressing postman!

Our postie is a little old chap who always calls me by my formal title of Mrs XXXXX. Almost doffs his cap and tugs his forelock. Bless him. Although he did look funny wrestling with the big parcel that turned out to be the Galt Dinosaur!

Not read this story yet JJ. How did he manage that scam? I'll go and have a look on Beeb website and see what they have.

mrsb nice work getting OH to anwer the door. I on the other hand answer it myself and stuff the parcels under the cushion so that DH won't see them (but not in the case of the Galt Dinosaur though as that would look obvious)

Any plans for today ladies? I'm going to sort out the decorations in the loft and while I'm there, do a mini stock check. It's starting to look like Woolworths up there

Tee2072 · 13/12/2008 07:50

Morning all.

The yucky part of living in a flat in City Centre is that they never actually bring our parcels with them when they deliver the post. Just a slip saying you have to go to the post office to pick it up. So annoying!

Today I am getting my hair cut and doing my Christmas shopping!

jeanjeannie · 13/12/2008 09:19

Lol@ ermintrude's postman. I like the sound of him - I'd make CAKE and invite him in. Bet he's great to go shopping with Our postman is quite cute - large tatoo on his calf. If he sees Iris through the window - he jumps about like a loon to amuse her

WHAH! Weather is sh*te - cold, wet and howling a gale. DP has to work and I've got to.
a) make a cake
b) take said cake and two kids to a party
c) cook a dinner for SIL after party
d) put up decorations and tree ...

[exploding head emoticon]
Oh, and fit in having a shower before I venture out smelling nasty and looking like an oil slick hit my hair Me thinks it's not going to all happen!!!

tee I'm I would LOVE to have a hair cut....and even go shopping! Hope you're feeling fighting fit and up to it. Don't forget to take a drink and some nibbles...perhaps some Kendal Mint cake to see you through!!!

mrsboogie · 13/12/2008 10:35

good Lord jj not got much planned eh?

horrible weather here too - we have to go shopping, plus later on we are off to that fancy restaurant where we went for sis's birthday. Just me and OH this time as she is still bedridden.

OP posts:
johnworf · 13/12/2008 10:36

Arghhhhhhhhh I HATE kendal mink cake. DH loves it and eats it by the hundred weight. If we ever go to the Lakes themselves, he buys a truck load. The smell of it alone makes me retch.

JJ don't envy your to do list for today. I thought I was having a bit of mare having to clean up and mop all of the floors. Also sort out the loft but in comparison, I'm let off lightly. Can't you cheat and just buy a cake and decorate it yourself? Or if it's a shaped one, buy the sponge, put the icing on yourself and then decorate?

It's crap weather today and it's looking highly unlikely the dog is going to get walked (unless he walks himself). It's one of those days where you just want a large slice of cake, a cup of earl grey and a great Ealing on the telly. Well, that's my day sorted....stuff the cleaning!

johnworf · 13/12/2008 10:37

mrsb is tomorrow the big day for you?

I take it Master Darragh is being looked after by MiL or are you doing what I normally do and leave them at home with a box of matches and a keg of shandy?

mrsboogie · 13/12/2008 10:50

it is indeed jw (41 - sniff ) restaurant is closed tomorrow so we are going tonight

ach no need for babysitting - he'll be grand on his own till we get back I'll just tie him into his bouncy chair with a pair of tights again

cor - your alternative Sat sounds ace jw
