Isn't this a fab idea - " The hometown of Rolling Stones Mick Jagger and Keith Richards is to honour the band by naming roads on a new £400 million housing estate in Dartford, Kent after some of the group's hit songs.

Among the names already approved by councillors are Little Red Walk, Satisfaction Street and Ruby Tuesday Drive."

Oh yes mrsB today or tomorrow? Well, you make sure you make the most of it!

I've made the cake - just gone into oven now. It's a vanilla and chocolate marble loaf cake - never made it before. Basically the sponge tin is in the shed and could only lay my hands on a loaf tin - so I've chanced a 'googled' recipe....MMMmmm.

Iris has her Dad's butcher's apron on and is wearing the oven gloves...the sort that are attached by a long piece of fabric...OOoo, that's gonna end in tears

Oh and an Ealing comedy - when are they on when you need them eh. I'm multi-tasking...I'm talking to you lot, playing with Playdoh, rocking the baby with my foot and watching Saturday Kitchen....bad mummy

jeanjeannie · 13/12/2008 11:19

FORTY ONE!!! Oh, I dream of 41!! It's a marvellous age....you'll enjoy it. I did Have a lovely night and I'm sure Baby D will be fine, Home Alone....!

My Mum's from Dartford - I don't think she'll approve!!

hedgepig · 13/12/2008 11:23

hmmmm Satisfaction street I wonder if it will end up as the red light area?

I just ordered tons of choccie from thortons on 3 for to and 25% off how fantastic, thanks for the XBX8 code JW.

we will probably get the decorations down sometime this weekend but apart from that no plans.

Tee2072 · 13/12/2008 11:35

Well my hair is successfully cut, my DH and MIL's Christmas successfully bought. I also went a little nuts at the 20% off sale for Body Shop and bought two picture frames at The Piers closing down sale. I feel so sorry for those people who are working there.

Now I've a wicked backache!

I thought you could leave the kid at home if you left some food and milk on the floor for them? Isn't that right?

Have a lovely Birthday dinner mrsB!

I'm now going to spend the rest of my day sitting here on the sofa until lunch and then go have a nap. [yawn emoticon]

johnworf · 13/12/2008 12:00

Bloody hell! those were the good old days back when I was 41. Pure bloody luxury. (cue Monty Python sketch).

Glad to be of assistance hedgepig but twas ermintrude that tipped me off Can't really take the credit meself.

Lordy JJ you make it sound easy. I usually find that shouting at my DH brings some sort of (half arsed) assistance.

Oh I've lots of plans for today really but aparthy has set in I'm afraid. After a mad week of orders I think I deserve a day off.

tee I always find I feel like a million dollars when I've just had my hair done. It usually doesn't last long though as the next morning I wake up and look like Beatlejuice. I wish I could re-create that shine and that smooth hair do that they always achieve in the salon. Oh, and if I had the time to even look for a comb might help

jeanjeannie · 13/12/2008 12:35

JW if only my DP was here to shout at I stink - am desperate for a shower but Verity is in bed and Iris shows no signs of wanting a nap...GGgrrrr. In fact there has been no nap for days now....maybe that little break is coming to an end.....[sobbing wildly emoticon]

Cake looks fab - BUT - the top little bit hasn't cooked. Mmmm, stuffed it back in but my thinks rest will go all dry - darn.

Smooth, shiny hair. Those were the days. Now everything is like a dry, shrivelled old leaf Decided after initial burst of energy that I'm going to feel sorry for myself

mrsboogie · 13/12/2008 12:44

its a bugger when you are dying to get a shower jj I haven't shaved my legs for aaages and as for my hair , well let's just say I was glad of the paint flecks in it when I went to the hairdressers yesterday as they lent authenticity to the explanation for it being in such a state.

Oh for the days of being able to get a blowdry every week - the luxury of it.

OP posts:
hedgepig · 13/12/2008 13:07

JJ why not take her in the bathroom with you and some toys and she can play while you shower? I imagine she would be so fascinated by watching you in the shower she wouldn't cause too much havoc in the 5 mins it takes to get clean.

hedgepig · 13/12/2008 13:15

test

johnworf · 13/12/2008 13:34

hedgepig your last post reminded me of the time when my older 3 were small and insisted that a) I went in with them while they had a poo and read them a story and b) when I couldn't go to the loo/have a shower without them wanting to come with me and chat. I hasten to add not all 3 at the same time. It went in phases.

I grabbed a quick shower this morning after I'd done the first bottle/nappy change. I have to leave the door open though in case she cried as DH was still in bed. Not sure what I'd actually do if she did cry as I'd be dripping wet but hey ho...

It's funny isn't it that now I sit down and come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I opened my make up bag let alone wore any. Quick flick of the hairbrush and on a luxury day, I put moisturiser on my face. There seems to be a shaving of anywhere embargo. And I've run out of wax strips for top lip so I look like Prof Robert Winston. Don't even ask about the eyebrows and bikini line is a no no no no!

JJ haven't you taught Iris the 'going to bed' game yet? Why not!

jeanjeannie · 13/12/2008 13:52

Got a shower !!! HURRAH!

Took several attempts...but BINGO!

hedgepig yep, that's usually the only way I get a shower - all in together - including Verity However - Iris was dog-tired but refusing to sleep and I knew that she'd sleep in the car en route to the party and then all hell would break lose when I woke her up!

The 'going to bed game'? Pray, do tell. I just had to read 'We're going on a Bear Hunt'...over and over again. Damm and blast that Michael Rosen!!! Mind you - this week's fave story is 'Hairy McCLary from Donaldson's Dairy'. Lordy- that's it - they're both stuck in my brain now

I do my leg/underarm shave in the shower - makes Iris laugh and she pretends to do the same. But don't talk to me about eyebrows. I look like a long-lost albino cousin of the Gallagher brothers......

ermintrude13 · 13/12/2008 14:30

This is the first house where we've had a lock on the bathroom door - but we leave the key on the outside because the cats like to prise off the back of the bath and get cosy under the pipes. Everyone in our house expects to be interrupted while showering, by someone else using the loo (although there are 2 others they seem to like doing it in company) or asking where their favourite socks are or advice on homework etc. Yet I have a friend whose 2 sons have NEVER seen her OR THEIR DAD naked! She thinks we're sick, especially to allow a child of the opposite gender to see you naked. I've said I'm doing my bit for womankind - after seeing me in the shower for all these years my ds is going to be extremely tolerant of his gf's figure faults .

Happy birthday MrsB. I'm almost done with 41 and it's been a good year.

JJ the cake sounds delicious. I haven't made a cake for weeks. Must try harder.

JW I wore make-up for the first time in weeks the day I started telling people I was pregnant. Looked like sh*t and felt I had to put a brave face on it so that people wouldn't whisper 'HOW old is she?' once I'd told them the news and moved on. It seemed to do the trick, at least in my head. However, if I went swimming without attending to my urgent depilatory needs I'd clear the pool faster than a hirsute German man in a very small G-string.

jeanjeannie · 13/12/2008 14:53

ermintrude lol@ sleuth cats getting into the back of the bath My Bob is way too stupid to work that out!

Hahaha for hirsute - see my DP - thankfully the Serbian/Polish combo doesn't seem to give him the same calling to wear a G-String as the Germans....[phew emoticon]

Sat pic of Verity - now almost sitting up! And wearing something without a bib and dribble

ermintrude13 · 13/12/2008 15:01

JJ, I'm seeing your DP as something akin to Borat. Maybe stick up some pics to put me straight? Love Verity sitting up. And I have a hat just like Iris's in blue, but while it looks fetching on her I look like Tollund Man. Warm though

johnworf · 13/12/2008 15:28

awwwwwwwww Verity looks very cute and grown up. I see you favour the same outfits as we do here at Worf towers.....babygro and a cardigan. That's for katherine and not me btw

I was naughty this morning...I saw that M&P had a sale on so I'm £50 lighter but I did get a couple of nice cardie's in there.

I like cardigans for myself too. I think it's my age.

Tee2072 · 13/12/2008 15:55

JW I love cardigans. I know its my age! I actually went into Bon Marche today to look at their cardigans! Our office is freezing so I wear a cardigan every day!

JJ look at Verity! She's so big, all sitting up!

I've already told my mum that I hope if this baby is a girl, it better get DH's hair levels, because my ancestors are from middle Europe (i.e. Poland, Romania, etc) and can you say thick black hair everywhere? I am dreading when I am too pregnant to shave my legs! I am already ignoring my bikini line!

mrsboogie · 13/12/2008 16:02

ah tee there you are - good nap? I wanted to ask you a question - do you know of any reliable websites where one can purchase American pharmaceuticals? I have decided that I am dead set on properly losing weight in the New Year and I want to buy Alli to help me. Its not available over the counter here yet and I want to buy some in Jan but don't want to unknowingly purchase counterfeit stuff.

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 13/12/2008 16:14

Excellent mrsB, thank you!

No, I'm afraid I don't. I am not even sure if it is legal to do that, is it over the counter in the US or by 'script?

johnworf · 13/12/2008 16:16

wtf is alli?

mrsboogie · 13/12/2008 16:31

its over the counter - its not illegal to buy it here (I don't think) I was reading an article in the paper yesterday about it and apparently loads of people over here are buying it from the States.

jw Alli is the over -the-counter version of Zenical - it prevents 25% of the fat you eat being absorbed but if you eat more than 15g of fat in a meal you get some unpleasant "effects" around your bottom end . So in addition to the calorie reduction it also prevents you from suddenly caving in and eating a tub of ice cream for fear of the ensuing unpleasantness.

Have researched it and in the States they have followed thousands of people who have been taking it for four years and it has caused no health problems.

I was going to buy it off Amazon but I saw a tv programme which said they aren't too choosy about what is sold on the marketplace thing.

I am a classic yoyo dieter - always on a diet but never losing weight.

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 13/12/2008 16:32

And mrsB, I found this website, which is UK: Alli is that what you want?

mrsboogie · 13/12/2008 16:34

oh and the pharmaceutical co. are in the process of applying for a license to sell it over the counter in the EU - so we should soon be able to buy it in Boots.

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 13/12/2008 16:37

thanks tee that's the stuff - there are websites set up to sell it over here - its just hard to know whether you would be buying the genuine article - don't want owt dodgy!

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 13/12/2008 16:38

mrsb ever since that Doctor Who episode, any and all diet aids make me a bit wary.
