sory nauseaus i havent heard of it? but i can appreciate how hard i is waiting until the next scan, with my daughter she was found to have cysts near her brain at the 20 week scan, which indicated a high risk of edwards syndrome so we had 4 weeks of hell waiting,as they said if it was they advised a termination! but the gud news it they had gone by the next scan.
thanks for everyones support and gud lucks etc for tomorrow for my 9week scan, im getting more paranoid no that there will not be a heart beat etc,and my hubbie is away with work in mexico! hello to everyone elsexx

lastboxoftampons · 17/11/2008 09:46

nauseous I'm sorry I don't have any advice - didn't make it that far with my last pregnancy. But wishing you all the best for a clear scan {{hugs}}

I have a question for you all - how crampy is okay in very early pregnancy? Last night I was feeling crampy in the evening from about 7 or 8 pm. But then at 3am, I woke up with horrible AF like cramps, across my back, tummy and down the front of my legs. I usually feel like that with particularly horrid AF's. They seemed to go away with some paracetemol. I know I felt crampy last time around, so much so that I mentioned it to the nurse when I went to have my pg comfirmed. But I don't remember the cramps being so distinctly AF like. Anyone have any experience?

Thank you!

youknownothingofthecrunch · 17/11/2008 10:22

Sorry nauseous, I don't know about it, but I would go and have a chat with my GP or midwife about it. You need to have it explained properly and not feel fobbed off. Insist someone tells you exactly what it is.

LBOT we all get cramps, and they're all different in each pregnancy (I've been a lot more crampy this time than before, even when I miscarried). I wouldn't worry as long as there's no spotting. Hope you're ok.

maz, hello. Good luck tomorrow, fingers crossed here for you.

Swaliswan are you alright? I have had a lot of pains around the bottom of my bump that I've put down to round ligament pain. I know week 17 is a time of new aches and pains. Are you sure it's not baby doing back flips? I know my uterus feels tighter when baby is moving.

TMD · 17/11/2008 10:34

Hi all, Finally found you guys!!!!!
sussex thanks for the tip How are you?
My period arrived so still ttc. I discovered another friend was 11 wk preg yest we would have been near enough same due date,I was, no I am pleased for her, but it put me in a foul mood for the rest of the day, my poor husband didn't know what to do with himself! Thankgoodness he's a sweetheart and understands, he puts up with a lot from me at the moment. Frustrated to say the least, why can't i concieve again we know both our bits are working so whats the prob!
Sun Sea Sand sounds fantastic compared to british weather you'll have to fill us in when you return! Have fun x
herby i'll be thinking of you. Sending positive vibes +++++++++++ xxxx

herbaceous · 17/11/2008 10:50

Hi girls

All still OK, as far as I know. Feel a bit yuk, sore boobs, though the AF-style cramps have stopped. Which of course makes me worry!

New and annoying symptom seems to be utter stupidity. Left the house on Saturday night without my keys or the ticket I needed for the event I was going to, got lost when I got to the event (not like me at all), and failed to meet chums in the cafe. The next day spent 30 mins making a shopping list, then left it at home. Then failed to lock the car. I dread to think what huge mistakes I'm making at work. Which would be unfortunate, as I'm the editor of a magazine which goes on the news stands. Oh dear.

I'm sure I was going to say something else, but I've forgotten.

Swaliswan · 17/11/2008 12:34

Thanks for the messages, Ladies. It seems to be that the pains I've been having are probably just 'growing pains'. I felt a lot better after having a bath and then being kept awake by been doing back flips I've been sent home from work today though after trying to go back after a month off and promptly threw up a couple of times and kept on getting my vision clouding in with light headedness I'm feeling a bit down and wonder when my 'morning sickness' is going to stop.

youknownothingofthecrunch · 17/11/2008 12:37

You poor thing, how miserable. Your body will do what your body will do, just take it easy.

Definitely empathise with the backflips! I don't remember feeling more than flutters at this stage before.

youknownothingofthecrunch · 17/11/2008 12:40

herb definitely empathise with the stupidity. Pregnancy brain is very unfair. Just as I get all hormonal and pathetic about the smallest things, I lose the ability to articulately talk my way out of situations where I#m behaving like a loony.

Just glad I don't have to do the work banking this time kept screwing that up. I love maths, but pregnancy affects my ability to count.

TMD · 17/11/2008 14:46

Swaliswan have you tried travel bands on your wrists, I found they helped as on the accupuncture points of your wrist and I got relief from those; also sucking on a small peice of crystalised ginger from holland and barret i know Yuck but that also helped. Others say chew on gum but that just filled me with wind . I hope it settles down for you though, if not have you considered having accupuncture - not 100% sure but you might be able to get it on NHS if you go through your doctor?????
Herb sounds like bump has well and truely addled ya brain!!!! I totally know how ya feel with my last preg(my only successful one so far) I went out the house thought i'd locked up got in car went to town parked up got ticket did wht had to got back to car thought bloody hell i've lost my car keys....still in ignition! thought i'd best just check my house keys were there..... but were'nt i new a neighbour had spare set so drove home and where do you think they were.... still in the front door!!! I was mortified!!! catch up soon

Swaliswan · 17/11/2008 16:19

TMD I've had acupuncture but it only worked the first time so I gave up having it a few weeks later. The bloke giving me the treatment was a bit weird and off-putting as well. If I lived closer to my MIL then I would have regular treatments as she is a midwife who practises as an acupuncturist as well.

nauseous · 17/11/2008 16:52

maz32 - thank you for your words. I'm sure it was utter hell waiting for those 4 weeks...
How was your scan??

lastbox - glad the pains have subsided.

TMD I'm sure that getting the news of your friend was bittersweet. Sounds like a lovely DH you have there...

Herb - I also have the pregnancy brain!! I keep having to do things twice as I keep messing up, dropping EVERYTHING. Driving me a bit crazy and DH just thinks I'm a loon. And I have a million different conversations with people on the phone like I'm on speed or something its totally wierd. Where's the old me? When she coming back? I miss normality and am ages away from having the baby yet...!arrgh!

joyfuleyes · 17/11/2008 17:29

nauseous with cord insertion it is marginal that causes the most problems, I think eccentric (slightly off centre) is considered normal in most cases. My dd (most definitely not growth restricted - she was 3.5kg at 36 weeks) had an eccentric cord insertion as did the baby I lost in the summer BUT my doctors were absolutely adamant that it wasn't the cause of his problems. 12 weeks is very early to 'diagnose' it as well - the placenta has second big growth period around 16 weeks so until the 20 week scan cord insertion can't be determined with any certainty. If the cord were to appear marginally inserted at 20 weeks you would be monitored more closely (placental dopplers & growth scans). It's the standard 'try not to worry' response which of course won't make to worry any less. I'm glad the scan was okay apart from that.

I'm feeling so ill, it's almost unbearable - nausea, heartburn, & a stinking cold to top it off. DH is coming with me to the scan on Thursday & we've managed to sort out childcare - please, please let it be okay.

dan39 · 17/11/2008 18:09

Swali sorry I ignored you last night, we cross posted. Glad you feeling better. Its such a scary time that every twinge has to make us feel like this, isn't it?

TMD nice to see you, keep on with the ttc and enjoy the trying!!

joyful sorry you feeling so rubbish...all fingers and toes crossed that it is for a good reason tho? Glad DH coming with you on thu - and of course we will all be there too crowded into the room peering over each others' shoulders!

herb sorry to hear about your confusion but it made me laugh too!! Speaking of pg brain, I just did a 'Brain Test' on DH's new iphone (don't even get me started) and it said my brain was working at 7% of its capacity!! Cheek!

Saw physio re spd today, she was nice but didn't feel did much good? Had already been doing what she said..(tho she did give me a very attractive giant tubular bandage)...anyone think a chiropractor or anything else might be worth doing?

dan39 · 17/11/2008 18:10

PS can I have some admiring glances/gasps at my new pram please??

maz32 · 17/11/2008 18:21

well ladies my next posting tomorrow will be after the sacn?!lets just hope its good news, i cant stop thinking about anything else today am so convinced there will be sumthing wrong or no heartbeat or nothing there how paranoid am i feeling tonite?x

downbutnotout · 17/11/2008 19:06

Oh herbaceous - I know what you mean about the pregnancy brain but then mine has never really recovered from the first pregnancy. I've lost count of the times I've tried to open the front door with the central locking button on the car keys.

I now have visions of you as the editor of Gardener's World mag - it's the name, I'm afraid! I hope it is. If it's The Economist you might get yourself into a bit more trouble...

chibi · 17/11/2008 19:13

I am nearly 7 weeks pg but can't quite shake the feeling that something's wrong. This is the first pg after an early mc this past summer. (I also have a 17 month old dd)

In a way, it is making it harder that I have had a baby already - I keep comparing this pg to the first one - was I this queasy or was the morning sickness worse, does that signify anything, should I worry etc.

I think having had the mc took the shine off pregnancy so to speak, I find I can't relax. I am really hoping that things get easier after the scan.

I may drop in time to time but mostly I wanted to get that off my chest.

Congratulations to all pg ladies, I wish you well.

bunnyinheadlights · 17/11/2008 19:28

ooooh dan me likey your new pram did you get the turquoise green or olive? when does it arrive? isn't it fun? i spent days playing with my new bugaboo when it arrived. cant remember but did you find out the flavour of your baby? green is a good neutral colour - very swish and good choice - well deserved esp after dh's iphone splurge!

ps on spd - try to see an osteopath - worked miracles for me. physio didnt do anything for me and the belt was pretty much useless.

good luck on scan maz

welcome to newbies including chibi - that feeling kinda stays long after you've had many scans - just come here to post.

hello tmd fingers crossed on ttc front. dont put too much pressure on self - your body will do the job when it knows it is ready (easier for us to say than to follow). really sorry to hear about how you felt re fnding out about friend's pg. that's really hard. the logical part of your brain says to be happy but after an mc all you want to do is weep (which is what i did in the same situation). happy baby dust to you.

been suffering with tummy bug AND cold. feeling wretched and unable to take drugs to knock me out. i want a huge mug of lemsip please....

teeheelaydee · 17/11/2008 19:45

Ooh bunny I really feel for you, I only have the tummy bug bit and that is bad enough but I would be really fed up with a cold as well - hope you are getting lots of TLC.

Chibi and lastbox I hate to tell you this but the negative thoughts get in from time to time and as the others have said just take it one day at a time.

Maz Good luck for tomorrow. Hope you see a wiggly waving bean.

Swaliswan Meant to post for you yesterday to say that I had what seemed like terrible pains from about 15/16 weeks and I also came to the conclusion that if a bath sorted them out they couldn't be anything too serious. Freaked me out at first though.

Dan39 Can't really offer an opinion about the SPD I'm afraid but shopping I can certainly comment on. Just had a look at your new pram and it is very funky, I'm guessing you went with the olive from what you said - very nice - good purchase - Well done.

MoominMoma · 17/11/2008 20:56

Hi
I found out I was pregnant last night after miscarrying at 10 weeks in July. This morning I started bleeding again and it all feels like deja vu. The Dr is sending me for blood tests tomorrow as it was only last week that I did a negative test. He seemed unconcerned about the bleeding but says if it continues he will book me in for a scan. This pregnancy feels nothing like my last one and the bleeding is different too so I am hoping things go ok but I am trying not to get my hopes up this time.

winemakesmummyclever · 17/11/2008 21:54

dan - stokke prams v cool - love the cots too, but cannot justify the expense. You could trade your dh's phone in and get one though! Welcome to the sexy tubigrip club. DH does acupuncture on me (some physio clinics will do it) - it helps transiently, but then life just takes over and I end up doing too much and get knackered again. Might try bunny's osteopath suggestion as getting no joy from anything else really.

herby apparently the excuse is that the baby robs us of all our nutrients, vits & minerals (especially munches up omega 3 apparently). Have attention span of a flea myself at the mo and memory of a fish. V frustrating - keep having to make lots and lots of lists to ensure things get done!

moomin hope things work out ok for you. Depends how far along you are as to whether a scan will be of any use. Good to see you have a gp who is taking it seriously though. Hope it is nothing and you are here for a long and uneventful stay.

Off back to bed. Have had the dreaded vomiting bug all last night and today. The little man is giving me a kicking - obviously missing his grub, but feel too ropey to have anything yet . Bah! Night all.

grinningbee · 18/11/2008 07:49

Good morning everyone!

Well, we had the 21 + 4 scan yesterday afternoon. Gosh, it did take a long time!

We were in there for about 45 minutes as junior was NOT co-operating. Its head was jammed firmly into my right hip so getting the measurements wasn't easy. Then when it came to the heart, someone decided to lay face down... ha ha ha! Anyway, after much moving on my part, and being tipped head down we got there.

I had to keep reminding the lady that we wanted to find out what the flavour was (we think she didn't really want to say) and we are having a Girl!!

So much for mums intuition! I was so shocked, I was convinced it was a boy. After losing our first pg last year, the relief that everything seems ok was soooo huge I blubbed my eyes out, and so did DH. He said he would like a girl from the outset so he could go all pink and fluffy, and he spent the rest of yesterday totally spaced out in shock

I still can't believe we have a healthy bean, let alone that it's a girly.

The best bit for me was at one point, she was laying with her legs crossed at the ankles with her hands behind her head - she looked so chilled out!

Can you tell how relieved I am... lol.

youknownothingofthecrunch · 18/11/2008 09:25

Congratulations GrinningBee! That's great news. I bawl at every scan that goes well

I was told ds2 was going to be a girl but it sounds like your sonographer was pretty positive (mine was a bit blase)

Moomin hope you're ok. Let us know how you're getting on.

dan those tube things are rubbish! But worth it for the comedy value. Physio did work for me after a few weeks, but if you wanted more I would recommend an osteopath. But be careful as there are lots of different types. Try to find one who has dealt with lots of pregnant women so understands the difficulties involved. There is an official body that regulates them - try looking through that rather than the yellow pages.

wmmc sorry to hear you're feeling so rough, hope you're feeling better today.

tsom · 18/11/2008 09:49

wow have just read last 2 weeks of the thread, my head is spinning

sussex and roque very sorry to hear your news, am glad you are staying in duty free though

dan39 congrats re pram

glad to hear everyone else is happy and healthy, obviously complete with paranoid worrying

had 20 week scan last week - dated at 21 weeks, I am sure it is not that far but they didn't seem interested in me bleating on about when we'd had 'relations', so this would now make me 22+1. Currently have placenta praevia on the scan, I know statistically there is a good chance it will move but bulk of placenta is anterior - over 2 old c/s scars so I'm worried that will cause probs. On the worry never does end does it.

Had 2 unsuccessful job interviews on friday afternoon then ds2 threw-up all over my bed and (specially blow-dried for interviews) hair just to round the day off nicely. Really wanted a drink

Wheelybug · 18/11/2008 10:03

Congrats on the scans Grinningbee (again !) and tsom.

Moomin - hope the bleeding turns out to be nothing to worry about.

Sorry to hear so many people/children are unwell. Its that horrid time of year isn't it.

Nauseous - I don't knwo anything about your issues but if they really thought it was a real problem they would presumably monitor you in between scans. Nevertheless, you're bound to worry until then. Hope it goes quickly for you.

Herby -I sympathise with the preggo brain. I suffer terribly... it drives me mad !! I also find things stress me out so much more - I am trying to decide which school to put first choice in my daughter's school application and can't which is driving me (and DH) insane. I am convinced we are going to make the wrong choice but won't know. Arrrrgghhh....

Ladylush - how's things ?

Right, not much to report here except I haven't had any breakfast which is not good news at 10 am so I am going to go and find some.
