We've now filled up the last thread - and the two before that! Seems that there are a lot of us old girls out there getting ourselves into trouble

So - if you've just found yourself to be with child or have a LO and you've hit (or about to hit - we'll let you sneak in just under the radar!)the big 4 0, then come say Hi!

There is always a spare comfy chair - plenty of cake and many old ladies to listen to your moans! Think of the lovely ladies knitting shreddies - only we're not sporting a blue rinse, but wearing cashmere and kitten heels

Hello regular ladies. I avoided putting FAT, F*cked or Knackered in the title - tempting as it was

hedgepig I hope you managed some sleep after your early morning post.

JW, well done to K, what's the alarm for? Bit p***d off with M&S to be honest. Last weeeknd I bought loads of stuff on line and now they have a 20% day - bum!! We are getting ds2 a tv/dvd for his birthday and they have a good oen there with freeview built in - guess what - electricals are excluded
The brown gunge is still here (it's only here in the day time, perhaps I should just stay in bed?) I have now had it for a fortnight. Where on earth is it all coming from??
The job is something completely different from anything I have ever done but still in the NHS, I don't hold out much hopes, it's more a way of trying to get my boss to sort out something a bit more interesting for me. (presuming that she would be sorry to see me go!)

I need to ask a question that I feel a bit juvenille asking, and if you all want to discuss this behind my back, it's fine, but after the scan tomorrow when they tell me that there is nothing there, can I still hang around here like a bad smell? I promise to eat cake and read the DM website

lilibet · 20/11/2008 09:23

JJ sorry - it took me so long to type that (bloody work keeps interupting) that we crossed posts. You poor thing, can you take anything?

lilibet · 20/11/2008 09:25

And I always wanted three children until ds1 turned two - could not beleive what he was like, devil incarnate is only a mild description!!

Ds2 was a bit of a surprise , exh had a vasectomy when i was 8 months pregnant with him after refusing for two years.

Tee2072 · 20/11/2008 09:30

lilibet of course you can still come here. And anyone who doesn't agree with me...I'll deal with later!

So today I am tired, depressed and nauseous. And just told my boss I didn't know when I'd be back in. With huge deadline looming next week. I just can't seem to care.

Now I'm going back to bed.

lilibet · 20/11/2008 10:07

Tee thanks and sorry you are feeling bad. Do they know at work that you are pregnant? What do you do for a job?

johnworf · 20/11/2008 10:16

lilibet just chuckling at your post about vasectomies. My exH had one when my youngest son was 6 weeks old. I made him stay awake for it as I really wanted him to show some empathy to the 3rd degree tear I'd had giving birth to him! Yes. I'm evil.

Sorry you're feeling so $hite today JJ Musical beds is not really a fun game. Esp when you wake up with a foot in your mouth or worse, a full nappy I'm sending you ((hugs)). Hope you are having some honey and lemon and make sure you have some Oraldene in to gargle with.

Nice timing Iris. I'm sure kids have a 6th sense so they can kick you while you're down.

The alarm on her monitor is for when her (heart) beats per minute (bpm)fall below the set criteria e.g. it's set for between 100-200 and her oxygen is set for 92-100. It'll alarm if it goes below or above these limits. But, when she wriggles it'll often do this and it's normal. It's just bloody noisy! (that's the aim methinks).

lilibet on the subject of tv's, John Lewis, on the back of the M&S sale today, are also offering up to 50% off their goods and electrical items are included But if you have a few minutes to surf I always look at UK Hot Deals website that will give you a synopsis of deals all around the web. You can just google it.

jeanjeannie · 20/11/2008 10:48

Thanks all for your sympathy and may I pass on some of mine to Tee Bless yer. You hunker down and worry about yourself and baby. Rest will (as it has a wont to do) take care of itself (((hugs))))

lilibet of course you can stay - that's why we put in the thread title that older mums - who are or aren't preggie are more than welcome. Anyway - we've shackled your chair to the wall and stuffed loads of cake within arms reach - so you can't leave Gosh - your bleeding does sound like mine. Kicks off when upright....nowt lying down.

My first bleed was a failed twin and the second they reckoned is that your body makes lining for a period in addition to placenta....so it chucks out the lining (like a period) only it takes longer cos the 'period hormone' isn't working anymore. Kind of makes sense.

jw OMG did you say a John Lewis sale???/ I could summon up the energy to go there!!

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 20/11/2008 10:54

Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, (to be shouted out in a strangulated gruff yelp of excitement!) I see what you mean about John Lewis. Right - fire up the Berlingo - jeanjeannie and the LOs will be trucking on over there later today. How pleasing. Is this a perk of the credit crisis me wonders? I've got a xmas shopping list for J Lewis as long as the cat's tail!!

OP posts:
lilibet · 20/11/2008 11:01

I can't see any reductions on the John Lewis Website?

Do you ladies know about quidco?

jeanjeannie · 20/11/2008 11:16

lilibet on the homepage it says in a small red box 'prices lowered today - we are responding to a competitr's event'. Ah - keeping that , 'Never knowingly undersold' thing going strong! Just seen loads of homeware at 25% off

I've heard of Quidco but not used it. Isn't that like a cash back thing? Have you used it? Is there a catch?

OP posts:
lilibet · 20/11/2008 11:22

Quidco is a cash back site which gives you a percentage back of all you buy. I think Marks is about 7%, and Next is about 5. There are hundreds of retailers on there. There is no catch, dh and i have money paid into our banks most months, maybe not a lot but as they say every little helps. The site keeps your first fiver each year for admin purposes, other than that it really is money for nothing.

It's excellent for things like Insurance, dh got £120 back for changing to Prudential which was about a fiver per month dearer than the cheapest quote.

lilibet · 20/11/2008 11:24

I've just had a look and John Lewis isn't on, but my earnings since June 07 have been £305

jeanjeannie · 20/11/2008 11:25

Good spending girl

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 20/11/2008 11:30

I have seen the small red box but its only certain stuff isn't it?

Quidco is a cash back thing - you just go through their website to your destination website and for many sites you can get cash back - quite often 10% or more. The cash back is paid into your bank account. My OH uses it but I can never be bothered. There is no catch though. Depending how much online shopping you do you can make a fair bit back.

After yesterday's feeding frenzy D is not eating today at all. Cries for his feeds but refuses them when they arrive.

Fantastic news jw !! Well done to Miss Katherine!

lilibet you must stay whatever happens - there are probably more of us on here who are not pregnant than who are anyway!

johnworf · 20/11/2008 11:43

I use quidco. In fact used it y'day when I bought the playstation3. It's a good thing to get a little back You know what I'm like for freebies Hat off to you lilibet for getting that much back. I'm impressed. There's no catch. You log in, find your merchant, click through to their website, buy what you want and after a couple of weeks, the percentage they offer back on purchases is put into your bank account. Easy really.

mrsb I had a chat with my MW y'day about teething. I told her that K was dribbling and putting her fist in her mouth but I said it was far too soon for her teeth to be coming through. She said any time from 3 months (she's not 3 months corrected yet) but it can in theory be anytime. Babies can be born with them. Wonder if Darragh is cutting his early????

We also had a chat about weaning and she's said to try K just after xmas. Weird really as she's 6 months old now (actual)....very weird.

Tee2072 · 20/11/2008 11:44

lilibet yes they know I am pregnant. I am the office manager/personal assistant here.

I am sure my boss is less than pleased, but I just can't seem to care!

johnworf · 20/11/2008 11:44

JJ glad that the John Lewis sale has perked you up so much!!! Deep joy

Happy days

mrsboogie · 20/11/2008 12:06

omigosh jw that is interesting - D has been dribbling like a good thing for the past few days - and the fist in mouth thing started around the same time. !! Interesting ... When he was born I noticed that his teeth seemed quite close to the surface - you can see a row of white peeping through the gums. The pediatrition did agree that he could see them. Wonder if that makes a difference to when teething begins?

It's interesting about premmies and the corrected age thing - I never knew that they corrected for the full term age of the baby. It is amazing that K would have been the same age as D who is ten weeks and she is six months! But at least you are getting the sleeping through now jw and not having to wait another three months for it!

mrsboogie · 20/11/2008 12:07

oh and - Debenhams online - baby clothes bargains|!!

jeanjeannie · 20/11/2008 12:37

Teeth - yes, they can pop through from 3 months onwards. Mind you Verity has been dribbling like a sloppy hound from day 1 and still no signs!

My mate's DD cut her first tooth at 10 weeks - by weaning she'd got the lot - looked bloomin hilarious

I really enjoyed weaning Iris - she was so up for it and gobbled everything in sight. Verity is screaming for stuff - so I've just tried a bit of squashed pear and B/M but alas it turns out she only wants to stick the spoon in her mouth!! I've a feeling she's going to be a tough one to get off the BOOBIES!

OP posts:
ermintrude13 · 20/11/2008 12:47

mrsb my sis cut her first teeth at 6 weeks. my mum realised when she felt a sharp grinding sensation on her nipple. ouch!

jeanjeannie · 20/11/2008 12:53

ermintrude OUCH

I hear that Woolworths may be going under and sold off for just a £1....!

Come on girls...I reckon we can scrape that together. It'll be fun - think of all the toys!

Anyway - JW could probably just add its online content to her already burgeoning web empire - I think her loft can take the stock...!

My mum was a manager at a Woolworths for over 20 years - so she'll be good for some top tips.

I reckon the big problem will be - who's gonna be trusted to be in charge of the Pick 'n Mix...?

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 20/11/2008 12:54

JJ I'll do the pick 'n mix...at least until I give birth, because then I'll (hopefully) be going off my insulin!

johnworf · 20/11/2008 13:02

lmfao@pick n mix. hehe. Wondered why DH was watched 'Working Lunch'. He's prolly looking at Woolies as he bought a load of shares when they were rock bottom. Seems that they might just be rocks or bottoms now then

Yeah, I'll stuff it up in my loft! All of it!

Isn't it weird how the LO's all do things so variedly? (think that's a word ) Teeth at 6 weeks - 6 months! Fabulous. Defies all the baby books too Just wondering mrsb is Darragh chewing on his teat but not sucking? If he is, sounds very much like teeth to me. Any hot cheeks on the scene?

I tried to get on the Debenhams website last night and it was down, down, down! Pah! I'll try it again this afternoon.

johnworf · 20/11/2008 13:04

aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgh Debenhams website still down.

Pile of poo innit
