We've now filled up the last thread - and the two before that! Seems that there are a lot of us old girls out there getting ourselves into trouble

So - if you've just found yourself to be with child or have a LO and you've hit (or about to hit - we'll let you sneak in just under the radar!)the big 4 0, then come say Hi!

There is always a spare comfy chair - plenty of cake and many old ladies to listen to your moans! Think of the lovely ladies knitting shreddies - only we're not sporting a blue rinse, but wearing cashmere and kitten heels

Hello regular ladies. I avoided putting FAT, F*cked or Knackered in the title - tempting as it was

lilibet · 06/11/2008 13:59

I'm not intending to tell anyone until after we have all the test results. Once again its tempting fate

Mrsboogie - 20 weeks - wow - with ds2 I looked 9 months pregnant at 20 weeks, I have photos to prove it. My stomach muscles emigrated far away a long time ago

jeanjeannie · 06/11/2008 14:03

Now, I'm not going to mention our shty night's sleep.......la la la la la la...I'm doing the finger in the ear, pretending it's not happening method as not advocated by JW*

hebaceous Welcome and CONGRATS! There's always tea and CAKE here....plus the Daily Mail gossip! I was 41 when I had DD1 and 42 with DD2(5 months ago) ....late starter like yourself. Wasn't expecting second time around to happen quite so quickly - hence why people are often asking if I got any sleep! Lack of sleep is all the rage at JeanjeannieTowers!! Even the best under-eye concealer can't help me now ! Fingers crossed that you have an uneventful pregnancy

floria ah yes, the ebm...MMmm, Verity howls!! There was DP last night with a beaker and bottle of it and none of it was going in!
Am lol@Alex and his mushy pea dinner! I can only imagine the wind-a-whooshing from his backside Harry Ramsdens would be perfect for me.....yum yum...wonder if they still to 'the challenge' ?

lilibet yes, just awake...not that you can tell by just looking at me I chose to wait till after the nuchal scan....don't know why...as we told people earlier last time (12) weeks. I just had the booking appointment - then the nuchal at 13+5 (ish) and then told everyone. I was surprised at how few visits to the midwife you get. Although I was under consultant care but actually only saw her twice!

SHOES! Oh JW you are indeed a lucky lady. Dangerous for me to have a discount card in a place like that.....everything would seem a bargin and I'd lose control!

Off to finish Iris's card for her birthday on Saturday. It's going to have a HUGE tin foil frame. Also got to stick her head of Lola's body then fix a balloon saying '2' into Pingu's wing!

JJ how on earth can you possibly be creative when you're so knackered!?

I dunno whether to stand here in admiration or slap you with a wet fish and demand you go and have a cat nap

mrsboogie · 06/11/2008 14:15

lilibet I was a total loon about temping fate - wouldn't buy so much as a scratch mitt until the last week or so and only then because I couldn't turn up at the hospital with nowt for the baby (although thinking about it it why the hell not? )! I looked on the internet and chose a buggy and the Amby nest and OH's parents bought them and kept them at theirs (although this was only permitted at the very end - tempting fate you see ) Even booking maternity leave threw me into paroxysms of worry...

ermintrude13 · 06/11/2008 14:23

Hello all. Sorry to hear you had another bad night JJ. dd would drink a bottle of ebm from anyone except me, which was handy for when I returned to work, but ds was a breast man from the start and wouldn't touch a bottle, beaker, cup or any other vessel, from anyone. I lovingly expressed 12oz a day for his 3 nursery days per week when he was 6 months old and he never drank a drop. Eventually gave up on the expressing - and was amazed my supply managed to keep in step for the (multiple) morning and night feeds - and he just ate whatever mush they gave him and would occasionally sip water from a beaker. He didn't waste away but it was a worrying time!

jeanjeannie · 06/11/2008 14:25

Slap me JW it'll help!

Can't nap cos Verity is still awake!! So, she's in the bouncer....moaning. Laptop on table - so I can keep in contact with friends - especially as bessie mate lives in Dubai and is always on line. Other mates are in the US - so I email them and multi-task VERY badly!!

It has taken me a month to make the card - am sick of the sight of it!

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 06/11/2008 14:29

ermintrude That sounds stressful I've given up on bottle and we're trying to persevere with the beaker because that's the thing she'll technically progress to ....I hope!

I'm stunned at what I can express - it seems wrong that there can be so much of the stuff! With DD1 (who was prem) I just expressed dribbles.....but this time....bonkers! I completely understand the phrase 'supply and demand' now

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 06/11/2008 14:31

I don't know how you do it jj

all I have done all afternoon is hunted high and low on ebay for some dark purple velvet curtains. We are about to start some indoor wall knocking and decorating and I have decided that these are the curtains I must have. Will never find them though as they don't seem to exist.

lilibet · 06/11/2008 14:32

[mouth agape in admiration at JJ's Valerie Singleton impression, and wonders if a month of less than 1hr unbroken sleep will turn lilibet into a creative genius]

jeanjeannie · 06/11/2008 14:54

mrsB I do it all badly. I'm like a cat flipping about with the wind up its ar*e!

Curtains....you and me both. Hahahah and velvet too. I'm hankering for a white velvet (practical eh) with an off-white stripe. In my dreams. Good luch with the dark purple - they sound lush.

lilibet lol@Valerie Singleton reference. I did ponder the other day wether Blue Peter still made the tinsel covered coat-hanger Xmas chandelier.....?

OP posts:
ermintrude13 · 06/11/2008 14:54

jj, you have to be careful who you tell about your copious milk production, or you'll be asked to drop a few bottles off at the local milk bank and before you know it you'll be feeding half a prem baby unit! A friend used to express on one side whilst feeding her baby on the other and then freeze half of it for that very purpose - while I pumped away forlornly managing to get out just enough to feed my one.

Perhaps it goes with having an artistic streak - I can't wrap a parcel neatly, let alone make a nice card. I usually say my 10 yr old did it, or leave it to dh, who is meticulous. He does all our Christmas wrapping but since I buy all the bloomin' presents that's only fair. Oops, sorry, didn't mean to mention the C-word for at least a month...

johnworf · 06/11/2008 16:03

JJ it's called 'the advent crown'...how dare thee call it a coat hanger

jeanjeannie · 06/11/2008 16:22

Hahahah...'Advent Crown' I was struggling for the right word.....but I knew I'd post next week by the time I'd found it

Still gutted that I never got a Blue Peter badge. Do they do them for grown ups? No. Well, they should

Lilibet you can mention the 'C' word here, cos JW has already done all her cards. Honest, I kid you not - she's even written them all out

Having seen that programme on BF babies that are not your own ...I'm still amazed that it's $10 a bag on the open market. Blimey, I'd be quids in and buying up more boots than you could shake a stick at!

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 06/11/2008 16:23

Sorry - I mean ermintrude - yes, yes...I know - I need SLEEP!!!!

OP posts:
johnworf · 06/11/2008 17:50

Actually the going rate on the t'interweb is more than that. I kid you not. If you don't believe me, check THIS out

OOOH I'm all of a dither since I read that OK! has dropped the Katona machine. Aye. It bid her farewell in this weeks edition.

And yes, grown ups do get BPB's. I saw..hmm...who was it now? It was on the 50th anniversary programme. Think it was Ken Dodd or someone Mebbe not him now I come to think of it.

Blimey JJ I'm surprised you're still upright. Sleep deprivation is a dangerous thing. Don't go operating any machinery or trying to drive...or combining the two of them and try and plough a field.

I'd have been at the GP's ages ago and cried, shouted and asked for something...anything, to help me out. But I'm a wuss as you can see

Good news of the day; interest rates cut to 3%. My DH thinks that christmas the C word has come early

Tee2072 · 06/11/2008 19:58

Hi All

Sorry not around much. Been sleeping like crap and then today I was stuck in Board Meetings all.fecking.day. So very boring!

Had my second blood test today to check my hcg levels are increasing. Have to call in about an hour for results. You would think I would be more nervous, but I'm too bloody tired!

YIKES! C word! I so need to start shopping for US relatives!

mrsboogie · 06/11/2008 20:03

jw interest rates could be cut to 0.0001% for all that the effing banks will pass the cut onto us lot who have just baled them out!

I do believe that jw has also bought and possibly even wrapped some of her Christmas presents jeanjeanie I have to confess that even my disorganised brain has begun to turn its thoughts towards the C word.

jeanjeannie · 06/11/2008 20:18

Ah - the 'C' word. Well, I did go into town today (got there and wished i'd not bothered) and bought some Oxfam cards - they're tres chic. So - I reckon I've got enough now - thanks JW it's all down to you

Interest rates...ah yes, doubtful that little windfall will actually benefit anyone other than the banks Although our mortgage company did pass on the last cuts.... So there is a small glimmer of hope!

Hahahaha that breast milk story - sounds like me and her should go into business. I've got a whole top shelf in the freezer full cos madame won't take it unless it's straight out of the 'cow'!

tee keep us posted on the test results. Fingers crossed for you x

OP posts:
johnworf · 06/11/2008 20:46

Tee we all remember those early days with very un-fond memories. Especially when you can't tell anyone why you look like hell, you're knackered, face full of zits, you just wanna barf, and your boobs hurt like hell. BUT, it does pass. Honestly, it does! Fingers crossed for your results. I'm quietly confident they'll be fab though

Oh lordy, I've got you lot rattled now haven't I with the C word? Well, didn't mean to...and you all know that mine is done so far in advance as a) I can't get to the shops b) xmas is my busiest time work wise. So, I have good reason and I'm not trying to make anyone feel guilty that they haven't even thought about it. Honest, guv

mrsb I've actually wrapped everything. They're up in the loft to forget about until I dole them out. I ran out of tags though so I cut up some old xmas cards from last year. No one cares about how fancy a gift tag is for more than 3 seconds to see their name on it anyway

I'm hoping that the mortgage people will pass on something to us. It's almost the season of goodwill to all (wo)men so cumaahn....help us guys out you b'stards!

DH is finally coming round after a day of migraine. He got up and barfed up immediately and went back to bed where he's been all day in a darkened bedroom. He used to get them regularly and was under the neurology dept at hospital but now he's been discharged unless they start up again. Hmm, hopefully this isn't the start of bad things....he looks like shit tough.

johnworf · 06/11/2008 22:22

Whoever was looking for maternity wear...try Mamas & Papas(online too) as they are having a half price sale

Tee2072 · 07/11/2008 08:24

So got the results just a few minutes ago.

HCG went from 20something on Tuesday to 38something on Thursday, so not quite doubled. Midwife said she couldn't reassure me, but that no cramps and no bleeding were an excellent sign and to keep my scan appointment for next Tuesday.

So fingers still crossed.

Now if I could just get my endo on the phone about my BG levels (much higher than usual, also a good sign for the PG being okay, although not healthy for me or baby!) things would be better!

We're going to the In-laws for the weekend, so won't be around much. Have a good one all!

johnworf · 07/11/2008 08:33

Tee well at least (so far) the signs are erring on the positive side Hopefully your glucose levels will be a sure sign that all is as it should be too.

Have a good time at your in-laws. Take it they don't know what's going on yet? Shame really as you could have been waited on hand and foot! (make the most of it as you won't once baby is here!).

Tee2072 · 07/11/2008 08:34

JW they do know I am pregnant, but they don't know there might be a problem. OH doesn't want them to know. My family knows there might be a problem.

lilibet · 07/11/2008 08:55

Good Morning all.

Tee or anyone really, what are HCG and BG levels? I hope you have a good weeeknd with the in laws.

To those of you panicking about the C word, can I just remind you that I have ds2's birhtday on the 28th November, dd's birthday on the 14th December and dh's birthday on the 23rd December!!

Hopefully I am going go have a manageable nine for Christmas dinner this year. Dh and I don't eat meat, so it's still a two meal, meal iyswim.

Wasn't feeling the best last night, so came in from work and went straight to bed and dh, tidied, made the boys' tea, took delivery of the weekly shop, unpacked it, made one of my favoutite teas in time for me to get up and watch Little Dorrit - the man in a gift from God!!

Johnworf, is it Schuuh at the Trafford Centre? I very rarely go, but wen thtis week to the big Boots for double discount night. Ds2 has decided that he wants to go to the Chill factor for hsi birthday with some mates, do you know anyone who has been?

I watched the Blue Petere 50th Anniversary Programme that was on a while back and cried! It showed JK Rowling getting a gold badge and crying when they gave it to her.

And I've solved my Drs problem - I finish work at 3.15 so am just going to ask for a later appointmenet - I have cabbage for brains once I get pregnant

Tee2072 · 07/11/2008 09:00

lilibet HCG is the pregnancy hormone and BG stands for Blood Glucose. I'm diabetic so I test my Blood Glucose levels regularly.

And now I really need to get off the darn computer, go get my shopping done and then pack!

Bye all!
