I crashed our new car yesterday into a concrete pillar in the car park - got a massive dent in the back. DH keeps asking how I managed it and I honestly have no idea (I seem to have blanked it out in my head, except for the massive crunch when I actually hit the pillar) but am sure being 30 weeks pregant has something to do with it... Apparently my mum hit the window of a car showroom when pregnant with my brother and brought the whole thing down! It has really shaken me up and upset me though. Would appreciate any stories to cheer me up from anyone else whose pregnant brain has made them do daft things...

And...

My mum was coming to stay the week before DS was due. We'd faffed about trying to decide which airport she should fly into. There are two, Vancouver Int'l which is just over an hour's drive from our house, and Abbotsford, which is 25 mins away in the opposite direction. The flight from Toronto into Vancouver was much cheaper, but I'd been told not to drive anywhere outside of our local area by myself at this point because of risk of precipitous labour. (Considering that I ended up labouring for 36 hours, this now makes me laugh in a slightly hollow manner...) So I could have sworn mum decided to fly into Abbotsford.

Cue me, on the day of her arrival, driving to Abbotsford airport, standing in the (completely deserted) arrivals hall, stupidly looking at my mobile after receiving a text from mum: "I'm here, waiting for you at the baggage claim". Since I was staring at the baggage claim, where there was not a single solitary person, I texted back, "which baggage claim?"

Eventually we got to the "which airport" part... apparently I had completely forgot the conversation we'd had about her flying into Vancouver because it was cheaper and that I would ask my MIL to drive with me to pick mum up.

She ended up taking a taxi to my house as it was 4 pm, desperate rush hour time, and it's almost two hours from Abbotsford airport to Vancouver Int'l.

So when mum booked her and stepdad's flights for Christmas, she emailed me the dates with "arriving at Abbotsford" in bold...

OMG I'm just dying here! I made the mistake at trying to drink coffee while reading this thread.

I'm 5 weeks with my first and the other day I was talking to a friend on the portable home phone and decided to head out so kept talking as I got into the car and started to drive away before realising I wasn't on my mobile. Apparently I have a lot more interesting things to come!

KFFOREVER · 16/12/2012 20:07

I know this is an old thread but i have cried with laughter reading this and getting odd looks from dh. I love it.

gemmapops · 17/12/2012 00:32

KFFOREVER thanks for popping this thread up, I am very nearly wetting myself reading all of these.

I am so glad it isn't just me who is losing the plot.

Yesterday I accidently used our front wall as a bumper, there was a bit of a crunch but not too much damage to the car. And the day before I was pulling in to the drive and accidently crashed in to the wheelie bin. My neighbour was watching both times and just shook his head Blush

I drove to 3 different McDonald's at in the early hours of the morning trying to get a hot apple pie. The only one that was open was just closing and they wouldn't serve me. I had a little cry about it when I got home

I have been very clumsy all through my pregnancy I haven't only been silly enough to fall and break my ankle but yesterday I decided to go sale shopping and it was lashing rain so I was worried about my cast getting wet so I put on my cast protector which I was so proud of myself as i usually need help putting it on as my belly gets in the way anyway I was so busy putting the protector on tJhat I we t out without a shoe on my good foot!! I get to the end of the street and then realised that my sock was soaking wet. When I finally got to the shops I then left one of my crutches at the till and the cashier had to come after me with it!!! I think I will stay at home today!

I told my dh that we ought to put the dinner in the washing machine or we'd never get round to eating that night. He repeated 'washing machine?' and apparently I sarcastically replied yes and looked at him like he had lost his mind xD well where else does one cook dinner?

trustissues75 · 03/03/2013 18:10

Climbed on a chair last week (while alone in the house) to take down some curtains and lost my balance because I'd forgotten about my centre of balance shifting...stupid, stupid, stupid. I won't be doing it again.

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 03/03/2013 18:16

I left the pushchair at the doctors a few weeks ago, it was only when ds said 'mummy I need my pushchair' when we were nearly home that I remembered!

PurplePoppySeed · 03/03/2013 19:20

I've got the words bathroom and kitchen permanently confused, we've just bought a new suite for the bathroom, yet I keep saying 'when we do the kitchen' DH repeats it back to me every time and I still take a few times to work out what is wrong with my sentence.

I've also put cheese in the cutlery drawer and ice cream in the washing machine! I'm only 12 weeks, guess its only going to get worse Blush

SourSweets · 03/03/2013 20:25

Ha, I loved reading these stories! Thank god we're not alone. I keep forgetting I am talking when I'm actually halfway through a senta

Gimmeechocolate · 03/03/2013 21:47

What a brilliant thread! Haven't laughed so much in ages!!

When I was pregnant with Dd2, within the space of a week, I

  1. went to the cashpoint, got some money out, and left it there. Only realised when I went to pay for the shopping!

  2. whilst folding up the pushchair to put in the boot I realised I didn't have a pocket r bag to put my phone in so thought I'd put it wn on t he ground, behind the car. Got halfway home before I realised and called phone - it was answered by a very kind woman who explained that she'd found it but it was cracked to pieces (as it as been reversed over).

  3. was cooking up some food to freeze in portions for dd1. Had puréed the first batch whilst other was still cooking on the hob and wondered what the awful burning plastic smell was? Didn't have a blender left to purée the rest of the food!

This time round I have forgotten to shut the front door behind me and one out shopping, put frozen food in the fridge and turned up a day late fr Dd's doctors appointment. Lucky I don't drive!

rosiedays · 04/03/2013 11:09

when Pg with DD2 i was driving home from my DM after sunday dinner when i saw blue lights flashing behind me. i pulled over expecting them to pass.... they didn't!! the officer asked where i was going and where i had been, then asked why i was 30 miles in the wrong direction!!! I was Very angry with him for being so stupid. it took him ages to convince me. Bless him he followed me home to make sure i go there ok then told my DH (now ex) that maybe i should not be driving!!!
this time i'm just a walking disaster, we have virtually nothing left in the kitchen as i have droped everything. went swiming and forgot my costume, had seen it and walked passed it on my way out wondering if it had dryed yet!!
I also laugh / cry at very inaproprate times!

ExhaustedMamasita · 04/03/2013 16:09

LOL ? such funny stories! Don?t worry it happens to us all. I keep forgetting to take my money out at cash points ? urgh! It infuriates me every time. Needless to say others kindly help themselves to it!!!

annamelissa · 05/03/2013 18:48

I was shopping in the maternity section of topshop the other day, and asked the assistant if they had other sizes in the store room, as I asked her I noticed that she was about 7 months pregnant and thought "how appropriate, Topshop have a pregnant person to work in the maternity section, she'll know just how to help customers!" - of course she didn't work there and was just some poor customer shopping for herself, she even found me a shop assistant while giving me a very funny look - I was mortified!

MummaPanda · 05/03/2013 23:26

Im a fitness instructor and when 7 months pregnant with dd on a late shift, I accidentally left a valve open when backwashing the jacuzzi. Morning staff came in to an empty swimming pool and alot of angry members. Took a week to refill the pool properly, ooops! Grin

BeCool · 05/03/2013 23:28
