I crashed our new car yesterday into a concrete pillar in the car park - got a massive dent in the back. DH keeps asking how I managed it and I honestly have no idea (I seem to have blanked it out in my head, except for the massive crunch when I actually hit the pillar) but am sure being 30 weeks pregant has something to do with it... Apparently my mum hit the window of a car showroom when pregnant with my brother and brought the whole thing down! It has really shaken me up and upset me though. Would appreciate any stories to cheer me up from anyone else whose pregnant brain has made them do daft things...

How about me falling from my own bed in the middle of the night? I managed to hit my nose on something on the way down and now look like a battered wife AND feel v bruised.

I hadnt noticed but people around me have pointed out i keep waving at the tv and saying 'hello' when someone i like comes on - earlier today it was malcom mcdowel!

Its taken me a year and a half since my dts were born for my brain to come back. It took about the same time with ds1 and then I got pregnant again...!

Put my trousers on back to front this morning! Only noticed at 10.30, been in work for 2 hours!

My first pregnancy gave me the worst ever baby brain.

I was always putting the car keys in the freezer or hairbrushes in thr microwave.

But the worst ever was...

I got dressed for work one morning - underwear, tights, top, shoes, bag, necklace, make up...the works. Forgot my skirt though. I walked all the way to the station before I realised. The walk home was hideous, longest 10 minutes of my life! Thankfully I was wearing a tunic top and my tights were thick winter ones...but I was still very obviously without skirt.

I'm hoping I'm more switched on this pregnancy.

Thank you so much everyone I've been in stitches with tears streaming down my face! I've been so sick every day and this has cheered me up, I haven't laughed so much in weeks!

I'm 11 weeks pg - making phone calls at work and completely forgetting who I've phoned and having to ask the person on the end of the line who they are! Then answering my own line in the 3rd person! Am usually very switched on and organised, but I work in an intense environment so am providing many amusing instances regarding absence of brain due to everyone being able to hear me. Fortunately my colleagues know I'm pregnant as I've been spending most mornings in the sick room or toilet so at least they know it's only a temporary lapse of sanity - I hope!!

I'm 21 weeks.

Took my phone out of my pocket and used the calculator function to work out what 40 divided by 4 was.

Er, that'll be 10 you twat.

It had been puzzling me for ages.

redrobin · 01/10/2008 20:53

tried to fight off a girl who was trying to steal my friend's bag.

I keep forgetting my PIN number, so in a busy supermarket queue the other day I produced my bank card, waved it at the cashier, and proudly announced my PIN number to her and probably half the supermarket. I was so proud of myself for remembering it that it didn't even occur to me that this was in any way a bad thing to do.

Needless to say, I've now changed it. Do I now have any idea what the new one is? Of course not.

I was trying to do a puzzle yesterday in the paper, it was a little word one, and I was going through the alphabet, and I got to R and got stuck. Just could not get the next letter. I tried twice as well! in the end my mum had to helpe me out

Someone smashed my car window and i took it to autoglass to get temporary perspex window, while they ordered new window. When I collected my car i noticed that there was a brick on the floor in the back. I took it into autoglass reception to "give them their brick back" (well my dad always had a handy brick for propping things up with - i said to my dh later).

Also although this is more body madness rather than brain stuff: I had a coughing fit as I had caught a bit of pepper in my throat and coughed so hard i had to run to pee as was going to wet myself and then started to gag with all the coughing (while still peeing) and puked leek and potato soup into my gusset! - that was dh's favourite story for ages

A work colleague of mine once came across a hysterical new mum in a supermarket car park who had "lost her baby". Baby was safe and sound in car seat shut inside the boot of her car beside the shopping.

Was making a soup around three months in (fighting gag reflex a lot, so was feeling quite proud of myself for cooking!).

It occurred to me as it came time to blend that the stick blender may not be too clean, despite always being washed and put away after each use. Nonetheless, having been two seconds from putting the blender in the soup (literally with my finger resting on the button), I had my stunning idea of how to check this! With my new sensitive sense of smell, all I had to do was get my nose close to the blades and I would easily smell any dirt!

My hubby caught me, thankfully, just before I pressed my nose to the blades (still with my finger on the power button!)!

I didn't crash when I was pregnant last time, but l did when my daughter was about 3 months old. I blame lack of sleep. I also used to climb up a wall about 4 feet high to get to my car until about 6 months and sit on it and slide/jump off to get back to the house, right up until the day befoer my daughter was born (16 days late), unfortunately I forgot when I came out of hospital and jumped off the wall splitting my stitches! not a good plan!

I told a group of students all about the woman who was coming to do my maternity cover. About ten minutes later I said, 'I must tell you about Debbie, who's coming to do my maternity cover,' and carried on repeating the whole thing until I looked up to see everyone gaping at me as though I'd taken leave of my senses (which of course I had).

trumpetgirl · 03/10/2008 22:15

When I was about 7 months pregnant I was playing cards with family, and keeping score. I was doing fine, then for some reason I couldn't add 1 to 50 (I'm a maths student btw )

skwiggy · 07/10/2008 14:44

I am 29 and a half weeks pg with my 1st! I work in a school. Last week I was pouring the children on my lunch table a nice glass of refreshing water to have with their roast dinner except what they really got was a glass of gravy.

I have recently put a firm chair in my bathroom as I'm finding getting socks on and off a bit difficult. A couple of days ago I was desperate for the toilet & rushed into the bathroom. I sighed happily as I sank onto the chair relieved that I had made it without embarrassing myself - the whole time I was staring at the toilet feeling just a bit confused...

My DH almost choked with laughter when he found me mopping up after myself.

Oh and I wept when the ice-cream van that I'd been listening to all afternoon completely missed stopping on my road.

lecohen · 07/10/2008 23:30

omg, just finished reading through this thread, got a tummy ache from laughing.

I am 31 weeks preg and have done loads of silly things - forgetting appointments, forgetting where I put things, forgetting line of thought etc.

2 days ago... I was about to cook some rice with dinner...emptied it into pot from container and was about to wash it when instead I started pouring it down the sink, what was I thinking?!

Oh, and last week I went to Toys r us and went to pay for a few things ...the guy packed all the items and rung it on the till and I thanked him and was about to walk off without paying when he held onto the bags looking at me like I had gone mad.

Oh...and also last week I was driving to my parents when I came across horrific traffic...I did a turn down a side road to get back home, drove around the block and REJOINED the traffic like an idiot lol

babybear77 · 08/10/2008 16:21

Decided what bookshelf we needed for work - rang the supplier and had a nice long discussion and arranged a discount, on a completley different bookshelf. When it arrived I realised straight away it was wrong, rang the supplier, grovelled, got the wrong one picked up and, concentrating very hard, ordered a cupboard - instead of the bookshelf we did want.

Still my DP melted a plastic tray into my steamer last night when trying to cook rice so you don't have to be pregnant (but it helps).

At work, returned a call to a patient. Reached voice mail on his mobile. Was reciting our office phone number so he could ring back. Forgot our office number halfway through!!! "...so you can ring us back at 514-23....ermmm... 514-23.... ahhh... 514-...."

The number is 514-2332.
