omg jw - I was the 28th also! Had AF on my birthday (14th December) so remember saying to OH - "The 28th would probably be a good date for a sh*g if you want to start trying for a baby" He said righto and that was it! So, D and K should have been due on the same day then technically?

Neither hunger nor colic jw . He was fed and happily drifting off to sleep but kept letting the dummy fall out of his mouth - then he would wake up and grizzle and cry and I should have to put it back in over and over again. In the end OH took him downstairs to his rocker chair and played computer games while D sat happily looking round until falling asleep at 3am.

So if I am to resist the temptation to ascribe "devilment" to a six week old baby I would have to say that he seems to have a problem dropping off to sleep sometimes.

Madonna's kids in school? what, with ordinary rich people? at risk of eating things that normal people eat or hearing about things on the telly? Perish the thought - they are all schooled at home safe from all threat of reality.

jeez - I know too much about these people. I blame the DM website

mrsboogie · 22/10/2008 11:49

jw meant to say - perhaps Katherine is trying to adjust herself to the next stage? i.e. sleeping through the night? that might explain the extra guzzling and the grizzling as she loads up on food and gets extra tired in order to sleep through. Lucky you if so!

jeanjeannie · 22/10/2008 12:55

ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Been up from 11.30pm till 5pm. DP was up at 6.30am - so that was it - that was my night Been to playgroup and now Iris won't nap. WAH!

Verity doesn't seem hungry - she just awake.....all the time. I'm honestly at my wits end - she won't let me put her down, As soon as I put her down or she's out of my sight she screams so much that she vomits really violently She's not so much as napped since 7am when she woke. I've had to literally carry her everywhere. I now have a humour bypass. Not sure what the answer is. If I'd not have had the arthritis previously then I'd get a sling but it's not an option.

Love her to bits but she takes needy to a whole new level. Am writing this while she's looking at me in her bouncer just wailing Iris is very upset by it all. Bloody hell - why don't they come with a manual and batteries?

At the moment I soooooo don't want another one!x

OP posts:
johnworf · 22/10/2008 13:08

Fking hell JJ I would be screaming myself if that'd been my night How do you get around this one? Have you tried swaddling her? I know it's old fashioned (and probably a long shot) but she might be feeling a bit insecure. At 4 months old I would have thought she'd be settling better now...not getting worse!

I mean she has to sleep at some point. She must be knackered herself being up all those hours for a LO.

Poor Iris, I bet she feels like going off to work with daddy (although I bet mummy does too).

Fark. Sorry dear. I'm out of advice unless you want to start giving her Calpol on a regular basis!

jeanjeannie · 22/10/2008 15:11

Off to get the Calpol - or at least read if i can give her something as it's clearly pain Since the whole Medised debarcle I'm now not sure what you can give......

Well, there's always the stash of sherry, whisky or rum in the nissen hut (nickname for our utility room!). I could pop some on my nipple as a chaser. Then I can glug the rest back myself

All attempts to go to the park are now halted. Poor Iris - she's having to beetle around the house with her mini push-along chair, ploughing over masses of toys I've not had chance to pick up. Must go - feel bad mother for even taking time out to type this! Oh and Iris has pooed again........another nappy.....I just want to cry!!

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 22/10/2008 16:00

oh jj I can relate - Darragh is a bit like this (without the vomiting, thank god) and he doesn't scream all the time - sometimes its just huffing and whining but if he was still doing it at 4 months I would go off my head I think. Yesterday I felt like I had jetlag from lack of sleep and was stuck on the sofa rocking him in his chair and picking him up all day.

Could she be teething?

johnworf · 22/10/2008 16:22

I've asked about Calpol at the hospital and it's licensed from 3months onwards and is safe to use (the doctors are still prescribing it on SCBU).

I'm imaging mountains of toys, so high that your OH can't open the front door when he comes home

Can't you ask MiL to have the girls for a few hours just so you can get yourself right?

We call our utility room 'the Nuclear Bunker'. It's so packed with overflowing multipacks from Costco you could actually live in there for a year on tinned stuff.

jeanjeannie · 22/10/2008 16:50

Awww - bless both of yer for your sympathies. mrsB God that's exactly like it - jet lag - perfect description! I reckon it must be teeth. Plus there's been a lot of serious farting I know the bods in the know say that there is no correlation between teething and wind/nappy rash but I find that the only time Iris ever gets both is when teeth are breaking through.

jw yeah I checked the bottle and stuffed it in via a syringe! Thing is they've banned Medised for under 2 years but it still says 3 months on the bottles She's calmed down....a bit. I've had to put Cbeebies on to take over. Unfortunately MIL has her sister & hubby over to stay so it's no go. Got to soldier on....grrrr.

LOL @nuclear bunker reference...AND being full of Costco stuff.....SNAP! yee haa...we're good for years should we survive the blast DP is working on a house at the moment that overlooks Costco in Reading. He's not bought home a tray of pastries....yet. He might have to if he fancies any tea tonight cos I'm not up to making any!

Let's hear it for the instant coffee keeping me awake. I wonder if hedgepig is getting on OK?

'ere does anyone know anything about this cranial osteopathy malarky for babies? someone mentioned it to me today and said it was very good for grumpy badly sleeping babies.

Is it a load of alternative hogwash or is it helpful?

johnworf · 22/10/2008 20:31

I hear it's good for all manner of things mrsb. I heard wind/colic it is most useful for. You can look it up here and if you want one, also on this website.

I think it looks interesting and would like K to try it if we could get out of the house...but that's unlikely at the mo. Let me know how you get on if you decide to give it a whirl. I think there might be some threads on here if you do a search you may find one.

JJ go on, treat yourself to a tray of pastries. It'll cheer you up Make you feel sick mebbe But in times of stress, carbs are fab I've eaten a lot of crap today so I've fallen off the wagon

Can you see any red gums in Verity's mouth when she's wailing? Looking for clues to new teeth and all.

Back to watching the nincompoops ruin a decent meal aka The Restaurant

jeanjeannie · 22/10/2008 20:33

mrsb We took Iris to a cranial Osteopath and for us it was amazing. She was really hunched up - her shoulders almost up round her ears (due to having been inside me for so long with so little water) plus the flattest head you ever did see Have to say it working a blo*dy treat.

Thing is - it always looked so gentle - like it couldn't be doing anything - but afterwards (literally hours later)she'd start to do things she couldn't do before. God - I'd forgotten about it - perhaps I should take Verity. Oh well done you - thanks - that's it I'm going to ring him tomorrow

I'm slumped on sofa half emailing and half watching the Restaurant. Hah -not too pooped to shout at the imbiciles!!

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 22/10/2008 20:44

OOoo, crossed posts jw - no pastries but have a fat bowl of greek yoghurt and honey. MMmmm, if only it was sauteed cabbage a la le Restaurant although DP thinks it must be the Polish in him cos he quite fancied the cabbage

Ah - that link for Craniel Osteo is where the guy I went to with Iris teaches. And it's got a wonderful name....anyone with that surname is fabulous...tee hee

No sign of redness on the gums...am thinking she's just taking clingy to whole new heights...

johnworf · 22/10/2008 21:48

JJ is the cranial thingy your empire then? Or just named in your honour?

go on, rub me 'ead!

ladymac · 22/10/2008 21:56

Oh jj poor you. Definitely get thee to a cranial osteopath. We go here, it's a fantastic place where they treat pregnant women as well as babies and children. They are looking after me at the moment as well as Elizabeth.

Tee2072 · 23/10/2008 05:38

Good morning campers.

Up at 5, UG!

At least the weekend is in site!

johnworf · 23/10/2008 08:07

Morning all. Weekend?? What is this you speak of? Each day at Worf towers is pretty much the same as any other No complaints though.

JJ did you get any sleep last night? I'm hoping that the girls gave you a reprieve of at least an hours shut eye

K went from 11pm to 7am this morning without a peep inbetween so I'm hoping that the god of sleep is looking down upon us with kindness. Long may it reign...or is that rain (looking out of the window)?

jeanjeannie · 23/10/2008 09:19

Morning all. In bed at 9pm - DP took Verity but she only slept till 1am Up every hour since She's not hungry - not in pain (that I can see) she just wants to be held! It's exhausting. She won't go near her cot....WAH!

Yes, I AM going to call our osteo man. ladymac that place looks great. Shame we're not a bit nearer - the Farringdon one is right near where I worked. It is strange though - I'm really not sure how it works....? Magic I guess

tee oh the weekend - it all blends into one for me at the moment. Wish I could hand my norks over to DP to wear for a while....

JW Thrilled for you that you got some sleep... Will Katherine give lessons to over-wrought babies?

Oh lordy - I managed to dream about the Restaurant last night.....

I'm gonna struggle off to another playgroup.......

OP posts:
johnworf · 23/10/2008 09:42

JJ at least you got some sleep, albeit fleeting How on earth is she surviving on so little sleep????

jeanjeannie · 23/10/2008 14:49

Afternoon. No idea JWhow she's managing, she looks ragged though and has reddy brown circles under her eyes

Went to playgroup - glad I did as another very broody mum held Verity and they seemed to like each other. Iris got on with eating play dough (must speak to her about that) and played with the toy stove....right little Nigella she is !!

Hate this time of the day when it's cold, wet, windy and nothing planned. ALl I can think of is the trauma of dinner! The RIverford veg box has turned up - it all looks lovely. If only I could be bothered to do something with it all...

OP posts:
johnworf · 23/10/2008 14:58

Throw it all in a big pot and tell OH it's veg surprise?

Iris sounds like she just gets on with things (unlike her sister) and is happy amusing herself. Good for her with the playdoh....wonder what it'll look like when it comes out of the other end? Mebbe it'll be like the playdoh sausage making machine

Poor Verity. That girl must be knackered.

It's really miserable here and counting down the minutes until DSS comes home from school and finishes for just over a week...sighs. Tomorrow he'll be bored by the afternoon...and we have a long week stretching in front of us. Got 2 hospital appointments for K next week so will have to get him babysat as it's not good taking him with us.

Your box sounds nice (ooh matron!). Been looking at getting one of those delivered but DH thinks that organic is a euphemism for 'overpriced, already going bad, misshapen veg/fruit'. Will have to talk him round

johnworf · 23/10/2008 14:58

Two words: Kerry Katona. WTF?

mrsboogie · 23/10/2008 16:39

afternoon all

Poor the Katona - doesn't she look/act like Anna Nicole Smith used to? She claims it was down to her anti-psychotic meds but what was that dreadful husband of hers letting her go on tv like that for?

Ehm JW your husband is right about the organic veg. No one has been able to show that they are any better for you than conventional veg. Its all just a marketing gimmick. Organic production may provide certain environmental benefits at current small scale levels but if we were to go entirely organic the whole country would have to be devoted to agriculture to provide enough food.

johnworf · 23/10/2008 17:04

mrsb shhhhhhhhhhhhh don't side with him!

I've just spotted that John Lewis have a Radley sale...Whoo HOOOOO! Had to purchase a new bag...had to....love it. So excited! Can't wait for it to come. God, I'm running around, jumping up and down.

Can't you tell I don't get out much?

The Katona person...well....she looked a mess yesterday but the husband person is vile anyway. No idea what those two are about. Today she's on the DM website looking very unrepentant....However, if you read the interview with her in OK! this week..she was pissed as a fart and it seemed she'd only do photos if champagne was involved. I'm not drawing any conclusions on her but she is most definately Chavistocracy (new word I saw y'day )

Home alone tonight for first time. Not alone, I mean just me and the LO's. DH's bridge season has started so he's off...doing whatever bridge people do. Arguing with each mostly from what I've seen.

jeanjeannie · 23/10/2008 17:15

Bridge? Isn't that what middle class old ladies with blue rinses play? JW I've visions of your hubby in a dark, smokey room...whisky on the table, visors on head....locked in card-battle with a load of Soprano'esque' old dears...

Ah yes, the organic veg. Well, it's not every week, but the carrots do taste nice and weirdly the stuff is cheaper than Tesco organic AND saves me going to the shop....lazy bag
It's a token gesture....until we get the allotment sorted....!!!

Kerry, former 'chip shop kitten' (would yer like 'em wrapped or open) Katona. Words fail me - poor love - she's surrounded by sharks - from Max Clifford, MIL and hubby. Seems to me she's a meal ticket for them all....

Verity had a two hours nap....wooo hooo!!!

OP posts:
johnworf · 23/10/2008 17:33

Bridge? Nah, stereotypical image you have there JJ. They're all at each other throats over mistaken bids, trumps or whatever they do. To the point of fighting I might add. No old dears here....ruthless, cutthroat middle aged men, yes.
