I admire you Bekki. I tried Rasberry leaf tea with DS2 and found it sooooo revolting that I couldn't even manage one cup of the stuff.

I saw a midwife at the doctors the other day, we were there for DS1, and she asked how long I had to go "4 weeks" I replied......"Oh you won't make that, you're far too low" so heres hoping that my remaining 4 weeks will be cut to....... well anything less really.

Fancy having a race?

Bekki · 23/08/2003 08:17

Well apart from feeling incredibly uncomfortable with constant braxton hicks there are no signs of this baby arriving yet. Baby is still high, but then it was with my first preganancy, he never engaged, and I was induced at 41 weeks with high bp. My gp said that my bp was going up again but nothing too bad - 118/87 I think which I thought was quite normal at this stage. So Emmatmg, my bp's up, your baby is low, lets race!

EmmaTMG · 23/08/2003 08:26

Ok.
On your marks........

Get Set.........

GO!...........

Fancy a rest Bekki?

ANGELMOTHER · 23/08/2003 09:30

Go have a cup of raspberry leaf tea and put your feet up girls...............

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone, very nice uneventfull relaxing day.

So tired!!!! just spent the past 2 days decorating the nursery, with my best friend who came to visit for that reason. It looks SO beautiful, I keep going in there just to admire it! But after all that exertion I am now completely knackered, and my back is aching like mad. So I am going to have to tkae it really easy for a couple of days, I think!

Bekki? Waht is your normal blood pressure? The midwife came to visit me yesterday, and mine was 140/88, which is relatively high for most people, but not very exceptional for me (especially bearing in mind how busy I was!). Really you need to compare your current bp to the first bp reading that was taken in early pregnancy to get an idea as to how it is managing. And bear in mind that rushing around/worrying/eating/etc will effect a bp reading too.

Bekki · 23/08/2003 21:17

Wow that is quite high Oakmaiden. When my bp was first taken at 10 weeks it was 120/86 which the midwife said was quite worrying. Thankfully it returned to normal 4 weeks later at around 110/65 and has stayed that way throughout with only one exception - 120/89 (in the heatwave). But now its going up and I wasn't rushing, or hot or stressed (mil was caring for my ds). The problem is with bp problems is that there are no symptoms until it gets dangerous.

Your not going to believe this Emma but I'm having a menstrual dull ache and I think I've just had the 'show' show itself. Having never seen it with my first I'm not sure if it is or not, especially as theres no blood with it.

But fingers crossed that its not gut cramp from that pizza.

Bekki · 24/08/2003 07:32

False alarm. Two big contractions last night then nothing. Its made me quite excited though, I don't think I had actually contemplated going into labour naturally as a realistic option before.

EmmaTMG · 24/08/2003 07:42

Oh, maybe we should carry on with our race then. Hopefully the excitment might really start things going again.

As for having a 'show' I don't think there was any blood when I had one with DS1 so it could very well be to start.

We'll have to promote you to the August thread if it starts again

crazynow · 24/08/2003 10:03

Well Angelmother, you have had better news than me, I saw the consultant on Wednesday and had a scan as well. The baby is still breech and because of the c/s with ds1 they won't turn the baby incase it ruptures my scar, so they have booked me in for a c/s on 11/09/03 - a week before due date.

The good side of it is I can organise everything now, my mil is coming down 2 days before and will stay for 1-2 wks depending on my recovery.

ANGELMOTHER · 24/08/2003 18:17

Oh crazynow I am sorry to hear that, some bubs just seem determined to divebomb their way out don't they.
You're right though organise as much as you can now and at least with a sure date of arrival you won't becaught on the hop.
This is what I'm afraid of as both my mum and mil are in Ireland and will be on 24hr notice.
Start filling the freezer now

Hi all. Angel & Oaky, I believe we are all due about the same time. Is anyone getting pains sort of coming up from the vagina (sorry tmi)and sort of going up to belly button cos' I am. not really bad but I wondered if you are getting them. Sometimes feels like a watermelon pushing outwards. God my descriptions are getting terrible. Oh and also have backache alot more these days.

wiltshire · 25/08/2003 18:59

Oh and another thing, am due on 3 October. Is it time to start taking the Raspberry tablets yet. Any advice welcome.

Bekki · 25/08/2003 20:57

I think it is o.k to take the tablets from 34 weeks. Although if you want proper advice ask Mears. I don't know if it helps but I've already had a false labour and today I've had constant braxton hicks. So you may find that it does nothing but cause you general discomfort before your body is ready. I am still drinking it though it seems to help me fill in the time and I can imagine that I'm doing something to help labour progress even if its just a placebo effect.

ANGELMOTHER · 26/08/2003 01:24

I CAN'T SLEEP

Eating ham and cheese toasties and drinking coke as I HAD to have them. Seem to have started worrying about impending birth, what to do with dd, will I be able to manage the birth I want, will I survive at all ..........

All daft I know but isn't it unfair how nature cruelly leaves you unable to sleep at a time when you need it most.

Wiltshire I've had those pains for a while now not sure if some of them were due to bub being transverse and temporarily breech but even though now she's turned am still getting them. Sometimes feels as though I should squat and start pushing as she seems sooo low down. Never had them with dd but then again I didn't have these bl**dy leg cramps either.

Oakmaiden I hope you've put down that paintbrush !

Bekki false labour wow at least you know you're on your way (you really want to be first don't you ), interested to know as never had one.....what constitutes a false labour if that isn't a stupid question. Is it a series of contractions ?

Pie you ok you've gone quiet on here or maybe I've missed you.

OP posts:
Oakmaiden · 26/08/2003 11:13

I'm having trouble sleeping too It is SO unfair - I am so tired, and yet I toss and turn about all night. Doesn't help that I have, um, dodgy bowels (not irritable so much as down right bad tempered) and they have really been playing up for the past few weeks - that hasn't been helping me to sleep either.

And I can't seem to eat enough ham and tomato sandwiches (also washed down with Coke! sure that's not helping my tummy!) but don't really seem to want to eat anything else at all. Everything else just feels like SO much effort.

On the positive side I have a definate bump now, and actually still weigh 1 lb LESS than I did when I first got pregnant! Mind you, I had a lot of excess weight there! Baby is definately going to either be a trampolinist, or some sort of disco diva, from the constant gyrating (apparently my bladder makes a great trampoline).

i've been trying to make a list of things I need to do before the baby gets here - because I would like to get everything done before ds goes back to school, so that I can spend the last week or 4 relaxing with nothing much "to do" - and I can't really think of very much that still needs doing! I want to run up a few more things on my sewing machine, but apart from that (which will have to wait til ds is back at school, cos he tries to be helpful, and I can do without that) there doesn't seem to be much that comes to mind. Hurrah!

bunnyrabbit · 26/08/2003 11:14

Hey guys,
I have these pains too!! Had them loads yesterday and was worried that it might be contractions or soething and I was too dumb to know!

BR (39 + 4)

wiltshire · 26/08/2003 17:40

I went to see midwife today and I am .... engaged!! As for those pains, had a massive one this am and when I asked her, she said maybe that was when head went into place. I too was worried about weight as I have only put on about 5lbs, but m/w said that baby is huge, above average. So I am a happy bunny this afternoon.

Does everyone else who is pregnant and has cable watch Discovery H&L. I must have watched about 300 yanks have babies and I am still scared. I am sure they edit out the bad bits.

As for sleeping, forget it, you are getting in training I am sure.

Bekki · 26/08/2003 17:49

Oooh its exciting now we are all so close. I'm not as bothered now about going into labour naturally theres no point worrying or obsessing about it, when it happens it happens. I just wish I could feel comfortable and contractionless until I am ready. Time to put the rlt down.

I'm feeling alot better now because the summer holidays are nearly over and my ds can be be entertained by those lovely playgroup leaders, I never truely appreciated them until now. Also dh is off for a month starting on the 3rd! I am going to enjoy the rest of my pregnancy now.

I thought false labour was just a series (4 or more) of strong contractions (not BH) Angelmother. I suppose it dosen't matter - as its false.

Bekki · 26/08/2003 17:52

Thats great Wiltshire engaged already. I hope that this dosen't make it too uncomfortable for you though. I have Discovery health too its great, but they all have epidurals.

wiltshire · 26/08/2003 18:36

Are you opting for an epidural Bekki? I was gonna try the natural thing, but my niece is in labour as we speak and I have just been chatting to her on phone. Am going to ask for drugs. Definitely. As soon as I go in. She is only 1cm dilated and talking through her pain made my knees go trembly.

wiltshire · 26/08/2003 18:37

Oh and whats an rlt. Also if you know what is IMHO.

wiltshire · 26/08/2003 18:37

pie · 26/08/2003 18:40

rlt = raspberry leaf tablets

IMHO = in my honest opinion.

ANGELMOTHER · 26/08/2003 19:19

Know what you mean about holidays nearly over Bekki. Dd will be back in pre-school on the 8th and both of us can't wait !!!

Was at the midwife today and got the all clear for my homebirth and today at 34+5 it appears bub has halfway engaged, even midwife agreed it looks as though I might go early, not sure if I'm excited or scared at the prospect.

I believe the race is under way ladies

Cor you lot had better get a move on, this thread takes ages to load! Angelmother, just a quick nosy question: do you have to get to a certain no of weeks to get your homebirth where you are? I've been told before 37 and I have to go on, just wondered if it was usual. TIA. Sorry to hear about lack of sleep, know the feeling atm but not to same extent as you by the sound of it.
