Sooooooo 😂😂

I went in last week for scan on my kidneys, a suspicious lump that needed checking. Climb up on the bed and said to the lady “oh this brings back memories!!” She smiled at me, and started the scan. First stop, bladder. Asked if I’d used the toilet and I said yes, asked any chance of pregnancy, I said NOOOOOOO…….she said “oh……I do see something here.”

well, I nearly fell off the bed looking round at the screen to see a HEARTBEAT!!!! I did a little swear under my breath (my children are 10 and 13…….im 37!!! I thought I was done and was so careful!!) and she said I need to take a pregnancy test…….which I thought was a bit irrelevant since there’s a baby on the screen with a beating heart!!

I took one anyway, positive instantly and the darkest I’ve ever seen a test…….next day I made an emergency appointment at EPU, there it was, 6 weeks…….and I had absolutely NO idea. Zero. And I’d still have no idea as I’m lacking any symptoms I had with my first two!!

so that’s my story! I’m still very much in shock and disbelief.

i thought I had a horrible cyst/lump…. Instead I left with a baby 🤣

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My kids are 16, 12 and 4. The youngest was a “query appendicitis” when I found out I was 18 weeks!

MissSold · 28/07/2026 20:22

Congratulations! 👶

At 42 years old I found out I was pregnant, I have heart disease and high blood pressure and it was thought I would not be able to continue with the pregnancy. Off we went for termination pre appt, both very upset. Thinking I was about 6 weeks pregnant they did a scan to make sure, sonographer suddenly says 'oh' I said 'tell me I'm further on, about 12 weeks' she said 'No, 20' I immediately asked if everything looked ok and she confirmed it was. I knew this was my one and only chance to have a child so we decided to go ahead and see how it went. I had no symptoms at all and def didn't look pregnant, 17 weeks later I had a beautiful daughter by C section, she's now almost 24 and has been an absolute gift, no bother at all ( almost 😅) Our family joke is that she was an alien sent from who knows where, first baby in our family for 16 years

simonthedog · 28/07/2026 20:30

Did they still look at your lump? Presumably you have waited more than 4 weeks for a scan?

Goodiebagh · 28/07/2026 20:33

Congratulations OP
I had my first when i was 20, hes now 20 himself, and just had my second surprise baby last year...it'll be right 😘

Shinyhappyapple · 28/07/2026 20:34

Many years ago a friend’s sister gave birth with no idea she was pregnant.

Congratulations OP 😊

NannyOf8Girls · 28/07/2026 20:35

Congratulations 🌸

AlmostAJillSandwich · 28/07/2026 20:41

A friends sister found out she was pregnant with her second only when she went into labour!
On the morning of April 1st no less, maybe took a minute to convince people it wasn't a prank and was in fact having a baby.

I'llBuyThatForADollar · 28/07/2026 20:43

Oh my heart pounds for you! Congratulations 🙌 sending lots of love and prayers 🙏❤️

Congratulations 💐

LMAO!!!! That's both terrible and brilliant!

QueenietheGreat · 28/07/2026 21:45

@Jaydekins89
This happened to me too
Now have a 32 year old son and
He's my middle Bebe!
But what also what really threw me was having periods for the first 5 months of my pregnancy!!
Congratulations on your lovely suprise XXX

Flatandhappy · 28/07/2026 22:05

Congratulations. I am currently on holiday in France with my “happy surprise” daughter (now an adult). I was nearly 40, shocked doesn’t even cover it but she is definitely one of the best things that has happened in my life x

MrsCarson · 28/07/2026 22:21

Jaydekins89 · 28/07/2026 13:00

Yes! The mini pill for 10 years!! This one snuck though!! I also get pregnant on the combined with both my other children! 😂😂

You are quite the fertile one 😁Congratulations on the surprise baby.

PyongyangKipperbang · 28/07/2026 22:21

Congratulations!

When I was 17 I realised I was 6 months pg with eldest through him kicking. I was on the pill, still had bleeds and didnt get a belly.

That wasnt in the life plan but here we are, he's 36!

Weirdwonderfully · 28/07/2026 23:04

How beautiful, congratulations it’s such a beautiful gift.

ShelleyCarpenter · 28/07/2026 23:31

What lovely news! Congratulations, OP!

MustWeDoThis · 28/07/2026 13:51

Congratulations!

Being careful with a condom? Because it's not being careful without one. It's how your first two came along.

Ladies/gentleman - Use a condom. It's not rocket science. Condom and contraception (together!) , or snippety-snip.

I hope those of you "Being careful" aren't telling your children the same "Being cafeful" methods, work.

eh? Why are you being so rude.

i am currently pregnant but previously when I was on BC we wasn’t using condoms because that’s my man and we don’t need to. Stop preaching and also she has explained she is very happy and so is her partner so was your pointless comment necessary? I mean maybe if she’s come on to say she was terminating it and wasn’t careful and didn’t want the pregnancy but this isn’t the case so back off

Cheeseandolivesplease · 28/07/2026 23:56

@Weirdwonderfully Yes I agree - totally not necessary.
I fell pregnant at 42 by my husband whilst taking the minipill absolutely correctly. I had no idea I was even pregnant.
But all I ended up with was an internal bleed, ruptured fallopian tube, emergency surgery and only one tube left intact 😢

MsGreying · 29/07/2026 00:06

Congratulations to the OP and all the other amazing mums who've shared their stories.

no longer posting here. Thankyou for all the lovely posts ❤️❤️
but it appears women still hate on each other and I’m a very positive person! As as there just behind a keyboard and would never say this to a woman’s face, I can choose to just not see it anymore! Peace out ✌️

So sorry it has gone this way on this thread!! I joined a fab baby group on here when I had DS in Aug 2022. I am still in the group. Best wishes xo

Jealous? I doubt it, falling pregnant whilst on contraception is most people's nightmare! She's just making a valid point that if you'd fallen pregnant twice already on hormonal contraception, it was fairly predictable it would happen again. But as you're happy with the outcome, all's well. Enjoy your pregnancy.

My mum got pregnant on the pill then twice with copper coils in. After four kids they wouldn't sterilise her so my dad got the snip. I got pregnant on the pill, although that ended in a miscarriage. Despite that I was very happy while it lasted.

My great aunt also got pregnant with a coil in, which caused a miscarriage as her baby had formed around it, so my mum was very lucky with her pregnancies.
