Pregnancy after loss

Hi, I'm 4+4 after a loss at 6+5 in April. I don't want to join the 'due in January' thread yet as I joined the December one then had to bow out, but thought it might be nice to have a thread where anyone in a similar position could chat/vent? I can't see any recent similar threads, apols if I have missed.

I'm feeling a lot more nauseous than last time which I have read can be a positive sign, but obviously doesn't guarantee anything. Just trying to cling to any hope I can!

Glad to see some positive updates.

Very jealous of those who have stopped progesterone. I’m not enjoying taking them at all! Messy, horrible things. I’m definitely bloated on them too.

argh ladies I’m having a proper wobble. On my drive home from work yesterday I had such awful cramps, really intense, I thought the worst. Anyway they lasted a couple of hours and then I had really bad diarrhoea (sorry if TMI) so I put the cramps down to that as they did ease eventually. Now today my abdomen just kind of feels tender I suppose is the only word for it and still a bit unsettled. Of course I’m paranoid that it’s going to be a miscarriage. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve gone to the loo today sure that I’ll be bleeding. Luckily I have another scan on Monday so I’ll know soon enough but my brain is convinced it’s not going to be positive news. Loss absolutely sucks all the joy away 😔

This sounds so stressful, I’m sorry, but it does sound like hopefully just an upset tummy! I’ve been having those a lot too. Got my fingers crossed that tomorrows scan brings reassurance for you x

Lovely to read positive updates and that some of you are feeling movement 🥰 I’ll be so excited if I get that far!

Having a minor wobble as my symptoms have eased right off, but scan tomorrow so not long to worry for!

@ThatMintMember Id secretly love another little girl, as youngest dc is a dd and I think it would be lovely to raise two sisters close in age!
obviously I’d be thrilled just to get a healthy baby at the end! My gut has said boy since the start though! We’re going to leave it a surprise as dh doesn’t want to know but I’m dying to know!

Aww that would be lovely! I don't think i could wait until the birth, I want to know from like 12 weeks as I'm impatient but at least they can't tell you the wrong sex at birth! I'm having dreams that I'm not having a girl and it's actually a boy haha. Feel like I can't trust it this time!

Namechangedforthis60 · 12/07/2026 12:32

I’ll be having growth scans from 31 weeks as I’ve had iugr babies before so I may have a nose when they measure femur length, I’ve had so many scans by this point I think if it’s a boy I’d probably be able to see! I’m definitely more impatient to know this time round and keep changing my mind to guess what it is!

ChasingRainbow5 · 13/07/2026 11:53

I had my 12 week scan this morning. My fluid is slightly low, not enough to be concerning but it meant that baby was a bit scrunched up and they couldn't get measurements for either dating or screening. I've to go back in three weeks where I'll have second trimester screening which I believe only screens for Down's, but at that stage there would be physical signs of Edwards or Patau's.

I was really anxious before I went in so I just lost it in the room, the sonographer was lovely.

I'm toying with the idea of paying for private NIPT now, going to have a look at what dates are available near me.

Lovely that you got to see baby, sorry you couldn't get all the measurements though. I went back for a second go at dating scan today and the baby behaved! Got some lovely pictures and all the measurements. Still a bit nervous about the combined results with the blood test but all looking good so far. Official due date is 17th Jan, looking like a C-section the week before.

ChasingRainbow5 · 14/07/2026 13:52

@Swissmeringue ah that's great, glad all is looking good!

I got a bit upset so can't remember exactly why I have to wait three weeks, I think maybe to give time for my fluid to increase, but I got a private NIPT yesterday afternoon so should have the results early next week.

Drinking lots of water, coconut water and electrolytes in the meantime to try and get the fluid up 😃

Good luck for the NIPT! I'm waiting for the results of the combined test but might have it too. Hope those fluids go up!

🤞🏼🤞🏼 for your results @Swissmeringue!

@ChasingRainbow5 glad you got to see baby! I guess as annoying as it is to not have been able to do the tests and measurements it’s another opportunity to see baby!
Im toying with booking a private scan to tide me over until my 20 week one as it’s still three weeks away and I’d like some reassurance!

ChasingRainbow5 · 14/07/2026 20:22

@Namechangedforthis60 I would probably have booked one for around 16 weeks if I didn’t have to go back! It’s so long to wait.

LPR16 · 15/07/2026 08:26

Welcome @Countrygirl95you’re in good company here.

I’m sorry you’re facing such worry at the moment and I’ve got my fingers crossed for your scan on Saturday.

Before you can have progesterone they are required to do a scan to rule out ectopic pregnancy etc. Taking progesterone can mask a miscarriage, so they’ve got to check there aren’t any issues beforehand. At your scan on Saturday I’d ask if they can prescribe it to you.

You can privately have bloods to see whether your HCG levels are going up, but it’s not always a sign everything is ok so you may want to save your money there.

If it helps, the digital tests can be inconsistent. I went from 3+ weeks back to 2-3 weeks.

There’s some lovely people in this group at varying stages of pregnancy who’ve all been in the same boat to chat to and keep you busy before Saturday x

Welcome! Sorry you're going through this, I've been exactly where you are. You do need a scan before progesterone so maybe ask about it at your scan? Ignore the digital tests, they are a recipe for anxiety, I kept getting 1-2 until I was at least 4 weeks post ovulation and it was driving me insane but everything is fine, I'm 13 weeks now.

Let us know how the scan goes, keeping everything crossed that it's a sticky one for you.

Welcome @Countrygirl95 !

I'm sorry to hear you're struggling, I'm pretty sure we were all the same at 5+5, it's such an anxious time after loss and feels so out of your control!

It's so hard not to think the worst when you see any sign of blood too.

I hope your scan on Saturday goes well and that you can get some progesterone then.

Countrygirl95 · 15/07/2026 10:12

Thank you all 🥺
Did you all get spotting too? Its only when i wipe
But after last year the anxiety is there

AnonymousUser101 · 15/07/2026 10:28

@Countrygirl95 hello lovely, welcome to the group! I myself have only joined recently after finding out I am pregnant again after loss.

It’s such a worrying time, especially when you’ve been through loss before and we all understand what you’re going through.

I actually had some brown spotting a week ago whilst I was on holiday that turned red and then back to brown for 3 days, I was an anxious mess and came back off my holiday 3 days early as I was terrified due to having a loss last year! I went to my GP on Monday as soon as I got back from holiday and I was seen by the epu yesterday and saw baby and the heartbeat and was told I have a subchorionic haematoma and that was the cause of my bleed and it will either resolve on its own or I may bleed again. I was started on progesterone yesterday so so far so good!

They should scan you at the EPU to check all is ok and then hopefully they may prescribe you with progesterone like myself. If they don’t mention it then maybe ask them and try to push for it. Wishing you all the best and I hope everything works out for you 🤍

Countrygirl95 · 15/07/2026 10:58

Oh hun! I am so sorry that happened
Ive read so many people have had the haematoma
I am praying this time is different
Ill be 6+1 Saturday
I knkw they wont see much but im praying for something

ThatMintMember · 15/07/2026 11:01

@Countrygirl95 I didn't have spotting that early on but had a couple of bleeds at 14 weeks which was awful. They couldn't find the cause at the time but recently at my 20 week scan they discovered a haematoma that was likely the cause.

I've been told that bleeding in pregnancy is actually pretty common and that it's not always bad news but they do always need to check it out.

SlightlyTerrifiedButPolite · 15/07/2026 11:27

@Countrygirl95I’m so sorry bleeding is so stressful. Can you see your GP and ask for progesterone before Saturday?

If it’s any consolation I’ve had bleeding since 5.5 weeks. Daily brown bleeding and some pink. I had one very big gushing bleed (including bright red blood) and passed a very big clot at 7 weeks 1 day, I thought it was all over. But it was just an old bleed that ironically my first scan had dislodged! I’ve continued with the “normal” daily bleeding since then. My scan at 8 weeks 1 day was fine and my next scan is tomorrow at 9 weeks 1 day

I hope everything goes well on Saturday xxx

ChasingRainbow5 · 15/07/2026 12:11

@Countrygirl95 hi lovely, I had spotting around 6 weeks so not far off where you are. It’s horrible, especially after a loss but it doesn’t necessarily mean the worst. Mild cramping is normal too as your uterus begins to stretch. You should be eligible for progesterone but most places like to scan you first, keeping everything crossed that it goes smoothly on Saturday and here if you need to vent in the meantime xx

Thank you so much
I appreciate all of your comments
Ill just keep an eye on things and try not to stress
Easier said than done but ill try
Thank you again

Countrygirl95 · 15/07/2026 13:53

Did you just get spotting when wiping?
At the moment its only when i wipe
Between light pink and light red

Namechangedforthis60 · 15/07/2026 14:23

Hi @Countrygirl95 welcome!
With my previous pregnancy that ended in loss I had spotting constantly that gradually got worse over about a week then I began to miscarry “properly”. With my current pregnancy I had pink spotting from about 5.5 weeks until 7 weeks on and off, usually when I wiped. Since then I’ve had one larger bleed but was told I have a haematoma as well so that’s the cause of it this time. It’s a horrible uneasy place to be!
