Pregnancy after loss

Hi, I'm 4+4 after a loss at 6+5 in April. I don't want to join the 'due in January' thread yet as I joined the December one then had to bow out, but thought it might be nice to have a thread where anyone in a similar position could chat/vent? I can't see any recent similar threads, apols if I have missed.

I'm feeling a lot more nauseous than last time which I have read can be a positive sign, but obviously doesn't guarantee anything. Just trying to cling to any hope I can!

That's brilliant news @ThatMintMember, congratulations! Good to know about the blood, too.

I've just finished my progesterone which is both a relief, as I was feeling so awful and bloated, and terrifying. I've got my dating scan on Monday, I'm really nervous about the combined screening given my age so it's going to be an anxious couple of weeks.

Good Luck for your scan next week- will keep everything crossed for you! X

@sapphirerubydiamond thank you lovely, I'm glad to hear you're able to start trying again, keeping everything crossed for you xx

How old are you? I had my dating scan on Friday, I'm going back next Tuesday as I was measuring about 11+3 which made getting the measurements for the combined scan really tricky. Baby was very active though! I'm 40 so also a bit scared about the combined test.

ThatMintMember · 07/07/2026 21:04

@sapphirerubydiamond I've had a few clues it was a girl. From the second I knew it had a heartbeat at 8 weeks I was like 'it's a girl', then nub theory of the 12 week scan and then the 16 and 20 week scan :)

Oh I feel like they should warn us that miscarriages change your periods. Mine has changed several times! After my first pregnancy my period became much lighter and no cramp anymore, after the first miscarriage heavier flow and a bit of cramp, after the second miscarriage much heavier flow and worse cramp!

Wishing you lots of luck with TTC, are you trying anything different this time? I took Pregnacare Before Conception before this pregnancy as I wanted to make sure I was getting iron, vitamin d and CoQ10 (just incase that was contributing to the losses). It can mess with your cycle but luckily it didnt for me, obviously no idea whether that helped or not!

ThatMintMember · 07/07/2026 21:12

Thanks @ChasingRainbow5 !

Oh bless you, I found the progesterone hard work so it'll be nicer and less messy to not be on it even though it makes you feel like you're doing something to help :) I was only on it from 14 to 16 weeks, not sure if they could prescribe it for longer if you wanted them to?

I really hope your scan on monday goes well and that the screening does too!

I’d kind of figured it would be unpleasant what with not having one since Feb with the back to back pregnancies/losses but not this unpleasant so I agree- a warning would have been helpful!

Thank you! I was taking folic acid, vitamin D and coq10 before but I’ve actually just switched and started taking naitre supplement sachets- they were a bit pricey and taste absolutely horrendous but they have such good reviews and a lot of stuff in the formula so hoping they help 🤞🏻 Just want to feel like I’m doing something I think! Trying to persuade DP to take supplements too however he is currently resisting 😅 X

Edited

Oh yes, folic acid is very important too! Forgot that one. That's great that you've got those sachets to take!

Haha, I gave my DH a bedtime (as he'd stay up til like 2am every night) and made him cut his caffiene as he's a Pepsi Max addict 😅

I’m 41. Ah that’s annoying you have to go back but at least you get to see baby again? X

Yes exactly, all looked fine they were just a bit small and very wriggly. They managed to get a couple of NT measurements and all looked ok but I'd much rather go back when baby is a bit bigger. How are you feeling now you're off the progesterone?

I'm starting to get a tiny bit more confident, even had a look at the baby clothes in m&s.....

Fullofconfusion · 08/07/2026 11:25

@ThatMintMemberwhat lovely news 💖

@sapphirerubydiamond I’ve heard good things about the Naitre sachets. Hoping they work well for you. I put my DP on wellman conception and vitamin D and the fertility clinic said for him to take Coq10 too as he had low morphology.

@Swissmeringuenaughty baby! At least you get another peak. I’m 41 so worry about screening results. I think I’ll probably pay privately for a NIPT if I get that far rather than wait for the NHS scan.

I’m 7 weeks today. I did end up going for the scan on Sunday and the sonographer saw a tiny embryo with a flicker that she wasn’t quite confident enough to say if it was a heartbeat or not. But given the size of the embryo she said it wasn’t a worry to not see a heartbeat yet. I have a follow up scan next week so remaining cautiously hopeful.

I read up and I was comfortable stopping when I ran out just shy of 12 weeks. Last one was Sunday night and nothing scary has happened yet 🤞🏼 and I’m already less bloated. Plus I figured stopping a week before my dating scan would mean I get extra reassurance then!

@ChasingRainbow5 i stopped around 12 weeks aswell with both pregnancies. I couldnt make it until 16w as the side effects were just awful for me

Did you get your dating scan yet? I know we're similar dates wise, just wondering how it went?

ChasingRainbow5 · 10/07/2026 16:09

I feel so much better since stopping. Sorry @Swissmeringue, realised I didn't answer you about that! I'm much less bloated, also feel like I have more energy and less nausea but that could just be down to being almost out of the first trimester.

OP posts:
Namechangedforthis60 · 11/07/2026 15:27

I also felt much better after stopping the progesterone! Less bloated, less bitchy, less sick! I also stopped it earlier than 16 weeks as after my scan at 13+5 I figured it probably wouldn’t do any harm stopping at that point. I read some women are only prescribed for the first trimester as well so felt ok about it.
I had my second midwife appointment and got to hear baby’s heartbeat which was lovely. Just counting down to my 20 week scan now.
Been looking at nub theory to try and guess what baby might be but I can’t figure it out haha!

how is everyone else doing?

LPR16 · 11/07/2026 16:02

I definitely don't miss the progesterone side effects. Glad to hear everyone is doing well, fingers crossed for some positive scans upcoming.

I'm 24 weeks now. I’ve been able to feel kicks now which has settled my anxiety mostly, unless I’m having a busy day & then panic I’ve missed feeling them

Fullofconfusion · 11/07/2026 18:55

Glad to see some positive updates.

Very jealous of those who have stopped progesterone. I’m not enjoying taking them at all! Messy, horrible things. I’m definitely bloated on them too.

argh ladies I’m having a proper wobble. On my drive home from work yesterday I had such awful cramps, really intense, I thought the worst. Anyway they lasted a couple of hours and then I had really bad diarrhoea (sorry if TMI) so I put the cramps down to that as they did ease eventually. Now today my abdomen just kind of feels tender I suppose is the only word for it and still a bit unsettled. Of course I’m paranoid that it’s going to be a miscarriage. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve gone to the loo today sure that I’ll be bleeding. Luckily I have another scan on Monday so I’ll know soon enough but my brain is convinced it’s not going to be positive news. Loss absolutely sucks all the joy away 😔

Namechangedforthis60 · 11/07/2026 20:19

@Fullofconfusion its so hard when you can’t allow yourself to feel joy, i know the feeling well! This is my last pregnancy and i want to enjoy it but i just can’t get to the point mentally to relax about anything yet! If it helps, I’ve had cramps on and off throughout my pregnancy so far and everything has been ok! I still check the toilet paper meticulously after I’ve been for a wee!!

@LPR16 feeling kicks must be so lovely! I’m 17 weeks and haven’t felt anything definite yet but have an anterior placenta so I’m trying to reassure myself it’s due to that and nothing more sinister!

ThatMintMember · 11/07/2026 21:41

@Namechangedforthis60 feel free to upload your scan and we can have a guess! I feel like I'm half decent with nub theory now. Guessed my boy and girl correctly from their 12 week scan!

@LPR16 that's lovely that you're feeling movements now! So reassuring! Also, congratulations on reaching 24 weeks :)

@Fullofconfusion sorry to hear you're having a worrying time! Any cramping is awful but so scary when your mind goes straight to miscarriage. Also tmi but I've had that issue many times in this pregnancy. I think I just have a more sensitive stomach whilst pregnant. Hope it settles and your scan gives you some reassurance.

LPR16 · 11/07/2026 22:11

@FullofconfusionI understand your worry. I've been suffering with diarrhoea on and off over the last few weeks, my midwife said it’ll be a mix of dehydration from the heat and pregnancy slowing my digestive system down.

Take care of yourself over the next couple of days, i’ll have my fingers crossed for your scan x

LPR16 · 11/07/2026 22:12

@Namechangedforthis60I had what I thought were flutters but could have also been trapped wind from week 16, but its only since week 22 I've had what's recognisable as kicks

VioIetMoon · 11/07/2026 23:04

@LPR16 Ah thats so exciting. I started feeling kicks this week. Im 22 weeks now.
It gives so much relief everytime you feel that little kick
Im in the same boat with the diarrhoea 🙈

Namechangedforthis60 · 12/07/2026 09:51

@ThatMintMember ill try to upload! I’m not even sure if there’s a nub visible, that’s how rubbish I am at it!

Ok so if that's a nub on the first pic I'd guess boy as it looks angled upwards and is stacked. Can't see a nub at all on the second one.

But if that's not the nub then who knows 😂

Maybe someone else on here can have a guess too!
