Hi everyone!

Amazing how many of us have already assembled here.

After a long fight with infertility I am finally pregnant with my IVF baby due 18th December 2026.

So far it has been going well - booking appointment is on the 7th of May and the day before we have our viability scan at the IVF clinic. I haven’t had true nausea so far, but the last two days the fatigue has been intense, I sleep well through the night but still technically already need a nap at 10 am and am completely ready to go to bed by 7 pm. 🤣 I’m told building a placenta is hard work.

So exciting! Congratulations

Aprahel87 · 22/04/2026 17:50

Anyone else experiencing sudden temperature changes? It seems like every night I get cold, with shivers for about an hour then everything is fine again…

Also my stomach twinges are increasing. Not painful as such but noticeable and frequent. I am taking this to mean since I am in week 7 now it is expanding rapidly so a good sign šŸ¤ž

PhoenixSTL · 22/04/2026 17:58

@Aprahel87 yes, know what you mean about temperature changes. I've been getting quite cold in the evenings too.

Bomatoes · 22/04/2026 18:14

@Aprahel87 yes, so cold! And the twinges too (6w 4d).

Barely functioning with the fatigue...paranoid my colleagues are picking up on it. Having to cough to hide the retching, which obviously makes me retch more!

My colleague literally said "your skin is glowing, what's your secret? You have a secret don't you?" eep.

MsPussinBoots · 22/04/2026 18:25

Hello everyone, I'm 4+4 and ready to join. My "partner" yelled in my face to terminate so I'm planning to do this alone. DD is 12 and I'm hoping to keep this a secret from everyone for as long as possible. Sending lots of love to those of you with bleeding.

SunshineRose12 · 22/04/2026 19:17

@MsPussinBoots welcome ā¤ļø

I’m sorry your partner reacted that way, it was very unfair of him. I hope you’re ok. Hopefully it was just shock and he’ll come round to this x

SunshineRose12 · 22/04/2026 19:22

I’m feeling pretty nervous as I’ve not ā€˜felt pregnant’ over the last few days. Even the complete exhaustion I had over the weekend has gone. I’m worrying this isn’t a good sign.

I’ve been reading that the chance of miscarriage is roughly 1 in 5 but once you get to the point of a scan where they can hear a heart beat it drops to 3-4% miscarriage rate. I’m wondering if I need an early scan to hopefully set my mind at rest?

Anyone know when I should be able to hear the heartbeat, especially the ladies who have had early scans? I’m currently 5 weeks and 1 day.

Aprahel87 · 22/04/2026 19:48

@SunshineRose12 you should be able to get a heartbeat from week 6, but I would suggest to give it a few more days just to make sure baby is developed enough - I had mine slay 6w5d.

@MsPussinBoots welcome!

and @Bomatoes @PhoenixSTL glad to know I am not just imagining things. I swear I think being pregnant sometimes makes you question your sanity -is this real or in my head šŸ˜‰

Niftymum88 · 22/04/2026 20:04

Anyone else got/had vertigo?
4 weeks 5 days
yesterday was so bad I couldn’t move my head without the room spinning which made me really sick and could t keep anything down.
todays better but my head feels really heavy and my eyes can’t focus 100%
any remedies?

Growingaseed · 22/04/2026 21:09

Congratulations @Skymningen, I love hearing about successful IVF. Feels like the most special babies amongst us all ā¤ļø

@MsPussinBoots I'm so sorry you had to put up with this. Well done you for doing it without him and congratulations. I can imagine it's all be a lot to deal with šŸ’

Ive also been so so cold!! Been sitting on the sofa with two blankets on me. Also going to bed with extra socks, a thin jumper and an extra blanket! Feels like it's in my bones. Then some nights I wake up so sweaty 🤣

I had basically no symptoms until 6 weeks (other than a few days cramping). The last week I've had a lot of nausea, mainly in the evenings. Counting myself lucky though that I haven't been sick and still functioning quite well.

For the person that asked it's ideal if you can make it to 7 weeks before the early scan just because it can still be quite hard to find the heartbeat at 6 weeks. I ended up caving at 6 + 4 though as I found I was just getting so anxious.

Its lovely to have you all, I'm dying to tell people IRL.

rach971 · 22/04/2026 21:12

@SunshineRose12 I think it's see the heartbeat isn't it rather than hear it? It's more towards the 12 weeks to be able to hear it

rach971 · 22/04/2026 21:14

@Growingaseed I've been really enjoying it being secret šŸ˜‚ I think especially because I've told everyone I'd never have a third, I was definitely done at two, so I feel like I'm going to get so many comments on that haha

howluckyarewe · 22/04/2026 21:22

Thanks everyone for the advise on when to tell work! Gave me a different perspective actually - I'm public sector, permanent and in an office full of women. But there's a restructure next month and I hadn't thought of it taking my chances for a better role. Staying quiet for now!

Also delighted to know I'm not the only one freezing. šŸ˜…

I'll be booking an early scan for 6+5 all going well. I'd like to confirm all is well as cramping has been so intense - it's either twins or my uterus is super stretchy after 2 fullterm pregnancies!

@rach971 I'm going to get so many 'I told you so's' too! I was adamant I was done with my two boys - turns out babies are addictive.

rach971 · 22/04/2026 22:30

@howluckyarewe I feel like a complete old woman lately šŸ˜‚ everything hurts, pains in all different places, can't get up, can't get down. If this is me in the first trimester goodness knows what I'll be like by the third šŸ˜‚ My stomach muscles never knitted back together after my second so I don't think that helps

I've always told people really early on in my other pregnancies. This time it's nice to just have it as a bit of a secret for now. My partner has told a couple of fellow managers at his work so they're aware he needs to attend appointments with me but I've managed to slot them in around my work at the moment

One of my first symptoms was feeling cold all the time. The day before I found out I was sat with the heating at 30 with a jumper on..! It’s still happening nowadays. I feel cold all the time.

Ncl31 · 23/04/2026 06:43

My hand and feet are cold a lot, I sit with a hot water bottle on my feel on an evening.
But then during the night I seem to be very hot! Which is very unlike me.
insomnia got me last night. Woke at 03:00, eventually got out of bed at 04:18 - about to head to work and I’m ready for a sleep.

Got my 3+ on a clear blue this morning.
im only 4 weeks 6 days.
never got one on my last pregnancy before I lost.
seems very real now

head is still feeling heavy and dizzy, slightly off balance, thinking it might be the rising hcg

PhoenixSTL · 23/04/2026 08:25

Feeling so awful today, all the same symptoms but it just feels worse today. Need to lie down cause my head just feels constantly dizzy. So taken another sick day from work šŸ˜ž

wonderlust07 · 23/04/2026 09:56

My sickness has still eased off but the tiredness is so bad, I remember being pregnant with my son and having to lie down in the office at lunch but now I work condensed hours so I am powering through but am absolutely shattered by the end of the day!

JH20000 · 23/04/2026 10:08

I finally got a 3+ on a clear blue this morning. Had been stuck on 2 - 3 for 10 days so naturally worried. Wish I had not used those tests, caused way way more anxiety than should have. I’ve thrown the other test away and not testing again unless anything changes.

For me no major symptoms. Little nausea but eating helps. Feeling a bit tired but I’m always tired so it doesn’t feel different if that makes sense. Bloating is crazy though and makes me look pregnant especially after losing 25kg. I feel generally a bit under the weather and I realise fatigue does hit by afternoon but trying not to tell work too soon although I’d appreciate a couple short more breaks.

Looking at booking a scan soon. Think I’m going to wait another couple weeks.

Lookingtogrowthefamily · 23/04/2026 14:13

How’s everyone doing?
I’m so glad I’m not the only one freezing because I’ve had a hot water bottle the past few days and blankets and thought I was coming down with something!
Having a bit of nausea throughout the day and in the evening but manageable. Feeling tired but have done the past 2 years to be honest so doesn’t feel overly new haha.

Anyone else finding the days in work dragging? When I’m working from home I feel like it goes quite quick but in the office it’s a drag.

Ive also noticed an increase in discharge - anyone else? (Sorry if tmi!). I’ve googled it (as always) and it says it’s common but it’s making me panic thinking it’s blood until I get chance to get to the toilet to check!

I haven’t booked an early scan, yet anyway. Hoping I can hold out until my booking appointment on 11th May and then know a date for NHS scan, thinking it will make me wait. I had 2 early scans around 7w and 10w in my last two pregnancies but this time it feels different, maybe because of the loss in the last pregnancy.

33Carr · 23/04/2026 15:17

@Lookingtogrowthefamily I’m with you with the increased dc, there’s been a couple of times where I’ve thought it was blood but thankfully not. Will probably have to start wearing a pantyliner!

bluepurplegreen · 23/04/2026 16:52

Thanks for the well wishes re twins. I gotta say I’m worried about how difficult two could be.

I’ve been ill for two days with a bad headache, sleeping most of the time and off work. Still barely any nausea.

Alive again now but feeling quite bored with fatigue.

SunshineRose12 · 23/04/2026 18:19

rach971 · 22/04/2026 21:12

@SunshineRose12 I think it's see the heartbeat isn't it rather than hear it? It's more towards the 12 weeks to be able to hear it

I googled this and yes, I think you’re right. At 6/7/8 weeks the heart beat is so faint you can’t hear it, instead you see it on the screen.

Thanks for flagging - I didn’t realise this!

Ncl31 · 23/04/2026 19:33

Anxiety is back with a vengeance. Symptoms have slightly decreased today. Which naturally drives the anxiety. I ate so much this morning because I was hungry but haven’t eaten anything since 1:30 and just don’t feel hungry at the moment. This worried me as that happened when I lost my last pregnancy, I just didn’t feel hungry anymore. It was weird.
I know I only had a scan on Monday and my next one is 2 weeks today, it’s just so hard mentally
