@OlivejuiceU2 oh im so sorry. Were your doctors able to give you anything for the sickness last time? And did it ease up eventually? Hope it does this time round and v soon

Ncl31 · 20/04/2026 21:30

@OlivejuiceU2 I’ve only been sick twice. Just nausea for me really.
i struggled today a lot with the nausea and dizziness this afternoon.

Another thing I’m suffering terribly from is gas/wind and I mean a lot, sometimes it smells sometimes it doesn’t. In previous pregnancies I’ve not had it this bad I can’t remember anyway. But my brain has tried to block out those pregnancies that sadly ended in loss. Anyone experienced this gas?

@Ncl31yeah gassy and bloated. I already look 6 months preggo.

JH20000 · 21/04/2026 06:59

I’m bloated too (scales say I’ve put on 4 pounds) even though I’ve been eating little as I’ve felt some nausea. Only had sickness once so far. The bloating is something else though and it looks like a bump already!

KelpieTheFirst · 21/04/2026 07:35

I've been throwing up every morning and nauseous throughout the day. The number of foods I feel like I can safely eat is dwindling, everything makes me feel sick now. Can't believe it's only 6 weeks and I've got another 6-8 weeks of this 😬

Moominmamato3 · 21/04/2026 08:42

Has anyone ever experienced a UTI while pregnant?

I was up all last night with one and ended up with bleeding which I know is probably just bladder irritation but unsettling all the same. I have a doctors appointment late this morning but worried about having to take antibiotics which I had to have last time I had one as it was spreading to my kidneys.

33Carr · 21/04/2026 10:09

@Moominmamato3 I think someone else in the group has already had a UTI also, apparently we are more susceptible to them in pregnancy?

I have my booking in appointment today, childcare has fallen through so having to take my 4 yr old and 2 yr old with me… šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

NewAgeDawning · 21/04/2026 10:32

@Moominmamato3 oh how scary. Yeah youll need antibiotics. I dont like them either but are necessary sometimes. Hope it all goes well

@33Carrgood luck with the booking appointment! Its good you can take children to that.

rach971 · 21/04/2026 11:13

@Moominmamato3 Yeah I had one, I just finished the antibiotics for it last Friday. I didn't really have any symptoms other than needing to wee a lot šŸ™ˆ

Moominmamato3 · 21/04/2026 11:41

Thanks all ~ I’ve been prescribed Amoxicillin for 5 days, normally I wouldn’t think anything of it but really would rather not take them during pregnancy but as you say @NewAgeDawning its probably necessary with this.

Luckily doctor was not concerned about the bleeding and agreed it was most likely bladder irritation which has stopped now so feeling a bit calmer, just very tired from a night of no sleep!

Sorry to hear you had one too @rach971 they are horrid. Usually I can flush them out with plenty of fluid but this one was not for shifting on its own.

@33Carr good luck with the booking appointment, mine is next week and feels like
it will be the first proper milestone after the positive test.

Em3009 · 21/04/2026 11:54

Hope you are all doing well! How far along is everyone? 🄰

we’ve booked a private scan for next Tuesday evening and I’ve had a midwife appointment through for Friday but I think that’s as my LMP was 18th Feb making me around 9 weeks but due to PCOS and irregular cycles I don’t think I’m that far along šŸ˜…

nausea has kicked in massively today and I have no appetite šŸ˜…

Alwaysgrowing · 21/04/2026 12:00

@33Carr that's annoying having to bring kids with you. Hope it goes well. I've got my scan dates through. It's 14 and 22 weeks, just like last time. I wasn't late referring myself just seems the way it is here.

Alwaysgrowing · 21/04/2026 12:20

I'm 8 weeks today.

Have occasional waves of nausea and dizziness. And I feel tired a lot. I've had twinges in my lower abdomen, once the opposite side from where I lifted my toddler sometimes rolling over in bed, standing up or twisting. I decided I needed to pull something out from under the bed yesterday. It was a massive pilava, carefully lowering myself onto my frount, then when I reached for it, I lay slightly on my boob and that hurt. I'm not doing that again, and my toddler can cry about not being carried downstairs as he's physically very capable. I'm not consistent though, he asks in such a cute way.

PhoenixSTL · 21/04/2026 13:00

@Alwaysgrowing our symptoms sound very similar at the moment. Bouts of nausea and dizziness. I'm going to bed about 2 hours early at the moment, or i need a 3 hour nap in the day.

Just feel constantly rubbish at work, but trying to only use sick days when I really need it.

And nice to have your scan dates in the calendar already!

Alwaysgrowing · 21/04/2026 13:35

It is nice to have dates in the diary. A long way away though. I felt so hungry and just ate my lunch in greggs too quickly. Then I felt hot and cold and nauseous and was worried I might actually need to be sick..in Greggs. Fortunately I went for a walk and it's settled a bit, but my colleague has strong smelling food so I'm hiding for now. 🤣 She knows as I'm a radiographer and we don't have our next patient for another 45 minutes. I managed with just a 15 minute nap yesterday. On Saturday I had 3 hours and couldn't sleep at bedtime.

How is everyones insomnia?

OlivejuiceU2 · 21/04/2026 14:12

Thanks @NewAgeDawning I tried everything last time and nothing really worked. One works for two days and then stopped. By the time I had tried everything I started feeling better anyway.

Sorry @Ncl31 to hear you are struggling with gas, I'm OK for this but have had some constipation so now trying to get some kiwi in my diet and keep it down.

I know it is all worth it so trying not to complain too much. I'm studying for a masters on top of everything else and have a full day of classes. Thankfully making it through the day without being sick but have my tooth brush, toothpaste and mouthwash in my bag just in case.

rach971 · 21/04/2026 16:57

Random one but does anyone else get cramps/dull aches when driving? I think it must be keep having to do the pedals. It's only started the last few days but it's uncomfortable :(

33Carr · 21/04/2026 17:56

Thanks everyone! Booking in appointment went well although would have been much calmer without the boys 🤭 Consultant led given I had a section last time and have small babies!

rach971 · 21/04/2026 18:15

I've managed to move mine, it was next Thursday, now 12th May. I'll be consultant led too

Ncl31 · 21/04/2026 20:27

My booking in appointment is 5th May, next scan at 7th May. I will be consultant led too, due to 3 previous losses and my 2 sticky blood conditions. I will be having a c-section too.

howluckyarewe · 21/04/2026 21:36

@rach971 do you get it during exercise at all? Probably the round ligament pain getting activated by the change in position - an absolute dose to experience though! I'm getting cramping every time I lie / sit down. Staying active is the only thing that helps. I tried to check my own fundal height and it was a woeful attempt, but my womb does feel super enlarged. No idea if it's on track but my mind is racing to twins. šŸ˜†

howluckyarewe · 21/04/2026 21:45

Can I check has anyone told work? I have to travel and be on site with my manager tomorrow but I'm only 5+1. It'd be a great opportunity to tell in person I wouldn't get easily again, and I was hoping to ask for a travel exemption for a long work trip next month. First trimester is already kicking my ass with fatigue!

NewAgeDawning · 21/04/2026 22:12

@howluckyarewenot me. Ive just started a new job so will definitely wait until at least i pass probation (ill be around 4 months) otherwise until the 6 month mark. How will your managers take it? Yeah first trimester is savage. Im also pretty tired! Took a 1.5 hours nap today

Alwaysgrowing · 21/04/2026 22:13

I told my manager allredy as I am a radiographer and needed to change the way I worked. Radiation risks are highest at the beggining of pregnancy. I think it depends how secure in your job you feel how early to tell. Some companies might try and push you out, not give opportunities you want and could handle within pregnancy. Others are really supportive and it's helpful for long term planning, such as the trip you are talking about. So really, you are the best judge @howluckyarewe

PhoenixSTL · 21/04/2026 22:41

@howluckyarewe I told my manager just after 5 weeks. I found it really helpful that he knew on my second pregnancy when I had a miscarriage, cause i didn't need to explain anything. Basically said I'm taking this week off as sick leave, and probably another week too.

Its been helpful with this pregnancy, as the nausea was getting really bad in the office (not sure if the office lights was making everything worse). So I asked to be able to work from home full time for a few weeks.
