Just had an early scan thinking I was 6weeks+1 measuring at 5weeks+5 with only the gestational sac visible, I know this is early and I’m trying not to panic, I’m rebooked in for 2 weeks time. Anyone else been to early and then things rightened themselves within the couple weeks?

I had a scan yesterday.
sac and yolk and ?fetal pole, but no visible heartbeat. Been rebooked for 2 weeks. I’m panicking!

she said it looked very much like a 6 week gestation which I was bang on.

LixxieM · 20/04/2026 12:44

@greenettehopefully they’re just wrong with the gestation, apparently the heartbeat can sometimes take up to week seven to be readable through scans xx

Can anyone advise? I’m absolute doubled over in pain. I personally do believe it’s more constipation than anything else as when I try a bowel movement the pain radiates. However I’m in such discomfort and a lot of pressure down there front and back TMI so sorry. Absolutely no sign of blood which is what’s keeping me sane but I can’t get in a comfortable position to try and even sleep this off. I’m a nightmare for not taking painkillers as I was once told in school if you take too many you will become immune and it put the shits up me but damn you know I am unwell if I have to take painkillers. I rang my ARU this morning (prior to this feeling) and they’re looking at trying to get me in this week or by Monday. I would be 5 weeks 5 days. Can constipation actually this bad and what do people recommend? (That’s that it is constipation šŸ¤ž)

NewAgeDawning · 20/04/2026 13:16

@LemonCheesecake95the only thing I can think of is an ectopic. Im sorry I dont want to alarm you but if the pain is that bad its a possibility. When was the last time you had a bowel movement? I dont think youd be in that much pain from it unless you were severely backed up. Let us know

FastFish1993 · 20/04/2026 13:33

I have not been keeping up with replies to this thread but it is lovely how many posts there have been.

Welcome to all the newcomers ā™„ļø and I'm so sorry and wishing all the best to those who have had losses šŸ«‚

funnily enough it WAS 4 days. Finally passed it! Thank god for that. I do still feel very full and bloated but think I’m just full of gas

Orangesaretheonly · 20/04/2026 13:50

Hello šŸ‘‹šŸ» can I tentatively join!? Just found out I am pregnant with baby number 4! Had an early mc in February so very tentative but my positive tests then were always so so faint I knew deep down it wasn’t going to stick. EDD is Boxing Day! But all 3 of my others were born pre 37wks so perhaps this one will too!

Due December 2026 šŸŽ…šŸ¼

@LemonCheesecake95oh thank GOD! What a relief, im so glad thats what it was šŸ™šŸ½šŸ™šŸ½šŸ™šŸ½šŸ™šŸ½ i didnt realise constipation could get that bad. Thankfully its not a pregnancy symptom for me (I mean that could still change) but I do have hemorrhoids, sorry if thats tmi, but those are quite uncomfortable too

howluckyarewe · 20/04/2026 14:17

Can I check did anyone else feel crippled with cramps at 5 weeks? I've had them bad at night time for the last week, but today they've been rotten. No bleeding and I'm out of tests to check. šŸ˜… I don't remember it being this bad with my first two!

Speaking of early scans I actually have a question for you ladies. I am due an nipt from the nhs because our previous pregnancy was affected by chromossomal abnormalities (we had a tfmr at 20 weeks)
I understand it can be done from 10 weeks so I got in touch with the midwives to book me in and my scan is in the diary for the 27th May. Ill be 12+3. I called to ask for it to be moved sooner, and they said the nipt is more accurate from 11 weeks onwards. Google said the same.
Im obviously wanting to know ASAP so do I beg the nhs to move the scan sooner (may not work) or do I get a private scan/nipt at 11 weeks? Would the nhs accept that? Or is waiting till im 12+3 not going to make a huge difference? It would costs us close to 500 quid which is money we could do with.

Hi,

I am not sure about the dating, when I was looking for private NIPT they all mentioned from week 10 as timeline. However the ones I looked at was One Day Tests (they have clinics nationwide) and their prices were Ā£315 for NIPT 5 -downs, Edward’s, patau, turner, klinefelter, Jacob’s syndrome with optional gender, and Ā£275 for NIPT 3 (the first three plus gender). I can totally see Ā£500 being excessive

NewAgeDawning · 20/04/2026 15:08

Oh yes, i used oneday tests a fair bit. They're v good. Sadly I need a scan, thats why its around 500. So id have to go to a clinic and get both done.
Hoping to have it all done sooner rather than later

SunshineRose12 · 20/04/2026 15:29

Welcome to our new joiners and sorry to everyone that’s hasn’t had good news over the last few days.

I’m also really enjoying how chatty this group is. We’ve not told anyone about the pregnancy (except parents and siblings) so I’m appreciating have all of you ladies to be excited with ā¤ļø

SunshineRose12 · 20/04/2026 15:32

Just wondering whether others have their booking in appointments yet?

I understand it should happen before 10 weeks. I’m going on holiday around my 9/10 week mark, so I’m worrying about having my appointment before I go. Wondering if I should chase this up, or if I just need to be patient 😬

NewAgeDawning · 20/04/2026 15:33

@SunshineRose12chase it up, definitely. And it needs to happen before 10 weeks for your blood tests

SunshineRose12 · 20/04/2026 15:46

@NewAgeDawning thanks - think I’ll give them a quick call now.

@GladDenimGoose just seen your update. Try not to worry, there have been a few ladies with bleeding and then everything is fine when they have a scan. I know it’s so hard, but the bleeding might not be bad news x

rach971 · 20/04/2026 18:01

@SunshineRose12 I have but I can't make it, you've just reminded me I forgot to phone them this afternoon šŸ™ˆ Will do it tomorrow

BellaStar2020 · 20/04/2026 18:32

I self referred via the website on the 7th April and haven’t heard anything about my booking appointment yet. I think I am 6w4 today. It says to call them if I haven’t heard anything by 10 weeks xx

BellaStar2020 · 20/04/2026 18:34

This is my 2nd baby, my first is 5 in July. It’s a totally different experience already to last time because it was covid and we were permanently working from home so I hid away and didn’t have to tell anyone. This time, I still haven’t told anyone but I’m finding it so hard lol! Xx

wonderlust07 · 20/04/2026 18:39

My area is super quick. I self referred and had my booking appointment date and 12 week scan through within 2 hours. Booking app is 2nd may so luckily no more time off work

NewAgeDawning · 20/04/2026 18:46

@wonderlust07oh wow thats insanely quick. Where do you live if you dont mind me asking? My trust got back to me in less than 24 hours with a booking appointment and I thought that was quick

NewAgeDawning · 20/04/2026 18:47

@BellaStar2020ahhh I work from home mostly so will be able to hide for a while! What are you finding hard particularly?

I’m on the Herts / Essex border so Hertfordshire will do all my antenatal stuff and then I’ll give birth in Essex. Where are you?

NewAgeDawning · 20/04/2026 19:05

@wonderlust07im in the Surrey/ West Sussex border. East Surrey hospital is where i go to

BellaStar2020 · 20/04/2026 20:38

@BellaStar2020 just feeling super exhausted and never knowing when nausea is going to hit. I work from home 2 days per week and then in the office 2 days.

OlivejuiceU2 · 20/04/2026 21:09

Has anyone started being sick? I’ve just started and dreading how I’ll get through it. I was really bad with my last pregnancy. I couldn’t eat or keep food down and ended up losing 5kg in two months. Hoping for it to not be as bad this time.
