@bluepurplegreen our first twins - wow. What fabulous news!

Don’t listen to the horror stories, you will be able to handle this and so lovely for your children to have each other x

SunshineRose12 · 19/04/2026 08:58

… I’ve always wished I was a twin!

Aprahel87 · 19/04/2026 09:20

@Ncl31 we are calling our little one peanut because that is what we could see on the scan šŸ˜‚

@JH20000 I had cramps and twinges in my stomach from the beginning. It’s your uterus stretching and growing, and apparently completely normal. The heavy pressure as well in the lower stomach. A doctor said that as long as it is not excessively painful with bleeding not to worry about it

howluckyarewe · 19/04/2026 09:26

@JH20000 yes!! I've been awake at night all week with them. Last night they were so bad I had a dream I started my period, it was so real I woke up so confused.

Trying to ignore, just came to the gym this morning & it's the only thing that's helped. Hit a squat PB trying to get my mind off it, so silver linings!

@bluepurplegreen how exciting šŸ˜ the first twins of the group! Twice the joy for your home.

Aprahel87 · 19/04/2026 11:33

I am after a bit of advice from other mums in this group. I am normally a stomach sleeper, especially when falling to sleep. Of course as little peanut gets bigger I will need to move to slide sleeping. Anyone have any recommendations for a good pillow for this, particularly for someone not used to side sleeping?

I normally find I get shoulder pain when I try to side sleeping but that could be due to not using the right pillow. Anyone tips would be appreciated šŸ˜€

NewAgeDawning · 19/04/2026 11:37

@Aprahel87im also a stomach sleeper, cant think of anything better. With the growing bump youll find that position increasingly uncomfortable. I used a sleeping pillow from amazon, but dont know if there are better ones out there. What i had trouble witj the most in the end was with my hips, they really needed support due to pelvic girdle pain (it was so bad)

Alwaysgrowing · 19/04/2026 11:43

This is the 10-3-2-1-0 rule. It's to have a set bedtime and base rules around it. I used it when I wasn't pregnant and I'm not sure how well it works pregnant. Eg I might need a late night snack and I'm only having a morning coffee and not drinking alcohol anyway. And the hour before bed, having a stretching/ yoga routine, or a specific relaxing activity like reading or painting.
And a big rule for sleep I follow is the bedroom is just for sleep and sex. No technology in the bedroom.

Last night I got up and did go on my phone which was not helpful, but did do a bit of tidying and cleaning the kitchen which I do find helpful. In the past I've done jigsaws before bed or in the middle of the night when I've laid in bed long enough not being able to sleep. There's also some meditation, but struggle with that.

Eliminate caffeine 10 hours before sleep
Cut food alcohol 3 hours before bed
Stop working 2 hours before bed
Stop screen time 1 hour before bed
Hit ā€˜snooze’ 0 times in the morning.

Alwaysgrowing · 19/04/2026 12:30

Does anyone have a feeling of what the baby's sex is? My intuition is it's a girl but I couldn't really explain it. I've had one of each. I thought my 2nd was a boy and he was. That was because I got more dark hair, particularly on my face. I have more hair now as it's just increased as I've aged. Now I have one of each and this pregnancy feels more like my first. My cousin was saying there was some research that showed a mothers feeling was a relatively good indicator compared to old wives tales, how sick you are, food aversions etc.

NewAgeDawning · 19/04/2026 12:40

@Alwaysgrowingi think its a boy, but then we were convinced our first was a boy and it was a shock when she turned out to be a girl. We didnt find out until she was born, it was such a surprise.
Will you be finding out the gender? We will only because itll be good to make things as concrete for our girl, otherwise another surprise would be great

howluckyarewe · 19/04/2026 14:48

@Aprahel87 save yourself some money and look up bolster pillows. They're half the price of pregnancy pillows & come with much cuter covers!

@Alwaysgrowing nope, I'm 50/50 for getting it right so far. Had a very different pregnancy with my second, but he was also a boy. Hugely different little personalities though! Planning on finding out at the 20 week anatomy scan all going well.

JH20000 · 19/04/2026 14:51

Thank you to all that answered my question. The cramps aren’t relentless and only seem to happen if I’m sat down or laid down too long (I’ve only just realised this) so may just be uncomfortable. Thankfully no bleeding.

Hopefully going to book an early scan soon. keeping quietly optimistic. Fingers crossed this one sticks.

LixxieM · 19/04/2026 18:23

Just had an early scan thinking I was 6weeks+1 measuring at 5weeks+5 with only the gestational sac visible, I know this is early and I’m trying not to panic, I’m rebooked in for 2 weeks time. Anyone else been to early and then things rightened themselves within the couple weeks?

Desperatelyseekingme · 19/04/2026 18:27

@LixxieM me !! I went on Friday 10th April expecting to be 6+4, date of lmp def right but measuring under 6 weeks with a yolk sac & possible fetal pole. I was convinced I was out, back a week later and measuring 7+2 with a heartbeat xx

thehopelessoverthinker · 19/04/2026 18:43

@bluepurplegreen wow congratulations! So exciting for you but must feel overwhelming too and avoiding the urge to google is so hard.

@Ncl31 we’re calling ours blueberry - which conveniently is the current fruit size this week but the name has stuck so I think they’ll be blueberry even when they’re watermelon sized!

@Aprahel87 I’m also a stomach sleeper and am already finding it too uncomfortable - not even because of belly, but because my boobs are so sore it hurts to lie on them! I found the bbhugme pregnancy pillow (long sausage shaped filled with beads) on Facebook marketplace and am absolutely loving it so far - I got lucky with an absolute bargain because there was no way I was paying Ā£150 for one new but for Ā£20 it’s been the BEST investment and has given me the option to try out lots of positions and different support options while I figure out what works.

@Alwaysgrowing I have a feeling they’re a girl, but it’s my first pregnancy so that’s based on nothing other than gut feeling!

@LixxieM sorry to hear the dates have worried you - I felt similar, I know I’m 7+1 (IUI so not really any wiggle room in my dates!) but was measuring at 6+3 yesterday. Trying to remember that they’re so tiny at this stage that even a measurement a tiny fraction off can make a massive difference - hopefully baby was just in a funny position and next time everything will look back on track ā¤ļø

PhoenixSTL · 19/04/2026 18:51

Just another shout out for the bbhugme pillow. I bought one during my first pregnancy and it was amazing. It was great to use when I was breastfeeding as well.

I’ve got 3 different due dates from all the different apps - I’m very nervous 😩 I hope you’re all doing well! I’m always intrigued by symptoms so if anyone wants to chat, please reply šŸ’›

I’ve been feeling nausea and have gone off certain things (the smell of coffee made me leave Costa quickly earlier for example!) have had some pains too and sore breasts but apart from that I’ve not experienced anything else yet. My sister and mum never got sickness so I’m really hoping I don’t either but there’s definitely some nausea there at times. I’m also very bloated so it looks like a bump already šŸ˜‚

As for due dates I’m similar - 3 websites gave me 3 different dates. I think I’m due around Christmas Day (ish) but only think so. One gave me a due date of 19th so I’m unsure really. Hoping a private scan at 8 weeks will give me a better reading!

LemonCheesecake95 · 19/04/2026 20:01

Aprahel87 · 13/04/2026 13:51

6 weeks today! So far my symptoms seem to be mostly pressure in lower stomach ( twinges and sharp muscle reaction if I twist or turn suddenly) bit of sore boobs particularly in the evening, and restless sleep. Luckily the nausea train hasn’t hit yet, but I am sure it is coming.
Still having light spotting from Friday but it has not gotten worse so just accepting it and trying not to worry about it too much! Have my first scan next Saturday- anyone had theirs yet?

I’m really struggling with these twinges and muscle pains when turning and can’t get comfortable. I’m also incredibly constipated so unsure if that’s causing any issues. How did you manage it x

seasonOfChange · 19/04/2026 20:04

Hi ladies, can I tentatively join šŸ‘‹ I’m due 26th December, tested positive a few days ago and have been in a bit in shock and testing daily to see the line progress šŸ™ˆ Feel like they're slowly getting darker but still a little anxious as I’ve also had some mild cramping, but hoping all is okay!

I’m between 16th and 20th for my due dates! I just can’t seem to get excited due to previous losses but everything about this pregnancy just seems different to others. I keep getting twinges that reminds me of a previous miscarriage though so I’m getting a bit nervous. Really hoping it’s just normal cramping / constipation. Suffered loads with it today! Can only be comfortable in certain positions! The idea of meatballs yesterday made me want to bork so ended up with a Greggs pizza šŸ˜‚

Growingaseed · 19/04/2026 20:15

Congratulations @seasonOfChange, I had lots of cramping 2/3 weeks ago so I wouldn't worry. I think it's normal!

@bluepurplegreen so excited for you having twins! I must admit there was a teeny bit of me that was hoping for two babies on the scan! 🤣 but one healthy baby is all I can ask for šŸ¤

Has anyone else been going into 'nesting' mode? I am suddenly so keen to do all the jobs round the house which need done! I also haven't been able to resist buying baby outfits and I know it's still early days.

Think we will start telling close family and friends soon, I can't wait for it not to be a secret anymore ā¤ļø

P.s. We've been calling the baby seed which was the first size it was described as on Flo 🤣

Hey, for me it is mostly lying still when I am sleeping! During the day I found that gentle exercise- stretching or walking helps. Sorry I can’t be more of a help

I’m feeling a little nauseous every now and then, mainly in the evening but that’s all for me.

Today we had family round for a little tea party for my son who will be 2 on Tuesday, and was constantly on the go and just had loads of energy. It worried me a little that I hadn’t felt sick but I’d been grazing throughout the whole party and it’s hit me again this evening, so a little reassured for now that it’s not stopped suddenly.

@wonderlust07just catching up on the thread and read it’s your son’s second birthday on Tues too!

Ahh twins, that’s incredible @bluepurplegreen! That’s interesting about having mild symptoms too as you seems to always hear of stories from pregnancies where the systems are really intense and it being a sign of twins

I’m sorry for your previous losses. I had one too so my anxiety is sky high. Having a lot of back pain tonight and my anxiety is making me fear the worst. I’m normally an anxious person but being early pregnant is making me feel a bit worrisome. Trying to take it a day at a time at the moment.

Alwaysgrowing · 19/04/2026 21:22

My pregnancies weren't massively different for each. Less anxiety and no sleep issues 2nd time round. But for both I had mild nausea. @LemonCheesecake95 I would personally ease up in the iron supplements if I was very constipated. Eg I do take folic acid and vitamin d every other day and a pregnancy multivitamin with iron the other.
