@hollyhocks2 it’s a non invasive way of checking for chromosomal abnormalities. We will be going for one as my first has Down syndrome which completely surprised us and while I wouldn’t want to change a thing I would like to be prepared if it happened again šŸ™ˆ you do get an nt test at 12 weeks but our past experience of that coming back low risk (1 in 8600) and us being the 1 will always make me maybe a little more nervous

NewAgeDawning · 12/04/2026 17:19

@hollyhocks2like the others said, the combined screening has a lower detection rate than the NIPT and I feel its worth paying for it IMHO
Im 6 weeks today and I can feel my nausea rearing its ugly head

PhoenixSTL · 12/04/2026 17:40

@NewAgeDawning I'm feeling like getting past the 6 weeks stage has made my symptoms so much worse. I woke up today feeling really rough - managed some toast and orange juice for breakfast. But still felt a bit nauseous. Anxieties weren't helped by more spotting today, which seems to have stopped for now.

Another afternoon nap when we got home, but can feel a headache coming on as well.

stace34xx · 12/04/2026 18:32

Hi I’m also 3w6d be nice to go through pregnancy with someone to chat to with being due around the same time 😊

howluckyarewe · 12/04/2026 19:50

@Sa11yCinnamon same - toddler is the only one trusted with the secret right now. They tried to eat the pregnancy test when we showed them. šŸ˜… I'm worried my eldest would find it the world's longest wait if I shared now!

@Kate543 I've never thought of NIPT that way - its making me think on it again. I didn't bother with it for my two DC because it wouldn't have changed outcomes for me, but it would be nice to be prepared if baby was planning a surprise.

@stace34xx exact same dates as me!

Alwaysgrowing · 12/04/2026 21:19

I'm slightly regretting telling my 7 year old actually. She doesn't want to talk about anything else. And wants to cuddle me to cuddle the baby. And is convinced it will be a girl and keeps talking about baby names. 🤣 But she's back at school tomorrow so hopefully get beck to reality and her normal interests. She has a good concept of time but it will be a long time for her.

Alwaysgrowing · 12/04/2026 21:35

Also, I did explain it might not survive this early. But might be upset as I'm not letting myself get too excited, she is.

MootLab · 13/04/2026 06:17

Nausea and insomnia hit hard last night! I’m trying to focus on the fact this means hormones are surging which is positive!

ChuggleBugs · 13/04/2026 07:45

Hello - I’m still super early but keen to join as I joined a similar group with my son and we have the best WhatsApp support group and I’ve met so many of the lovely ladies in real life!
I think I’m around 4w+3 but will hopefully get an early scan to firm up. Starting to get the usual symptoms including running hot!

hollyhocks2 · 13/04/2026 08:59

I’ve no idea when we’ll tell our DD, she’s 4 soon. Want to wait until we’re out of the woods but can’t think that far ahead. I’ve got a week and a half until the next scan and it’s just hard to have confidence that I’ll get as far as that without bleeding. Don’t know how I’m going to concentrate at work.

On the NIPT thing, I was 31 when I got pregnant with DD, and now I’m 36, so that’s one reason I might consider it. I don’t feel remotely old to have a baby but I read that being over 35 is a risk factor. It’s just good to have information isn’t it.

I felt really rough yesterday, just exhausted and queasy (which is as bad as it got in my last pregnancy, thankfully) but there is definitely some comfort in it at this stage!

I'm 6 weeks today, was in a rush this morning so I'm going to do a CB test tomorrow and hope for 3+ (again, I know they're not reliable but I keep going!)

Sa11yCinnamon · 13/04/2026 09:22

On NIPT, I can't really justify the money to have it privately but as I'm 41 I won't be telling loads of people til I have the combined screening back at least.

NewAgeDawning · 13/04/2026 10:00

My nausea fighting arsenal. Is it working? No, not really

Morning all, I had horrendous vivid dreams last night to the point I woke up crying. I dreamt I was having a miscarriage and passing the baby, but it was the exact setting of when I gave birth to my second at almost 19 weeks. I was petrified when I woke up and took another test to make sure the two lines were still on the test.
Anyone else experience vivid dreams? I’ve googled it and can see it’s common in early pregnancy but never had this with my other two pregnancies and it’s really shaken me 😭😭😭 I am so scared now of things going wrong again

NewAgeDawning · 13/04/2026 10:23

@Lookingtogrowthefamilyoh im sorry, those are so horrible arent they, they feel so very real. Yeah theyre common its a sign your hormones are doing something which is itself is a positive even if it doesnt feel like it
I had one, and thats how I knew i was pregnant. I dreamt my toddler had been swept away in a tsunami and I couldnt find her. It was horrific and I too woke up crying

PhoenixSTL · 13/04/2026 10:26

@Lookingtogrowthefamily oh gosh, that sounds like such a scary dream! Hope you're able to take some time to yourself today and try to find something nice to distract yourself.

I had a pretty vivid dream last night, but not quite as scary as that. My mum (who passed away in 2024) was looking to end her life after a cycle ride, but then we lost her before the end of the race (as in she got lost and we couldn't find her). And then I managed to lose my 3 year old son during the same race. I was tearing my hair out, searching everywhere frantically for both of them.

@NewAgeDawning if you find something that works for the nausea, please share! I'm finding that it seems to be worse after I've eaten something. I might need to Google and see what might be the easiest things for me to eat, which might not lead to nausea.

NewAgeDawning · 13/04/2026 10:37

@PhoenixSTLtheres a commonality to our dreams. I wonder what thats about? Hope youre ok! These dreams can really shake us up !!
I read vitamin b1 (thiamine) and b6 help. If its true or not I dont know.

Alwaysgrowing · 13/04/2026 10:45

I had a vivid dream last night too. Nothing to do with pregnancy, but getting on the we wrong bus, threatened at gunpoint then because I was so lost ending up doing drugs and imagining I was made up of desperate willow leaves floating in circles. I've never done drugs. Then woke up in a warzone like tent fitting.

NewAgeDawning · 13/04/2026 10:48

@Alwaysgrowingomg haha your dream sounds like how it would be like to actually be high

Alwaysgrowing · 13/04/2026 10:50

Separate not desperate

Alwaysgrowing · 13/04/2026 10:53

In my first pregnancy I had a dream a birthed a puppy. I had terrible problems with my sleep, partly side effects from trialing setratine I think. Including sleep paralysis and insomnia.

Lookingtogrowthefamily · 13/04/2026 10:54

Wow, I didn’t expect it to happen to so many of us but take a little comfort from it that it’s not just me tbh. Maybe where we are in the pregnancy? Crazy.

im in the office today for work and it’s helping to take my mind off things a bit but still feel on edge not being in the comfort of my own home x

Niftymum88 · 13/04/2026 11:00

Hi šŸ‘‹šŸ»
been soooo sick the past few days and got a faint line this morning. I’ll be 4 weeks on Friday, due 25th December šŸ˜‚šŸ™ˆ
im really nervous and anxious this time round.
i was suppose to be 9 weeks in feb but baby stopped growing at 6 weeks.
so I’ve caught on pretty quickly.
i keep getting excited but the nerves hit

Sa11yCinnamon · 13/04/2026 11:09

Eeek @Niftymum88 our first Christmas day due date!

Sorry to hear about your previous loss and increased anxiety, have everything crossed for you x

hollyhocks2 · 13/04/2026 11:12

These dreams sound so distressing! I had one the night before my 6 week scan that I gave birth to a duckling and it was around 20 weeks and it was well enough to come home with me. Very odd. I remember having catastrophe type dreams when pregnant with DD, along the lines of forgetting to feed my baby or leaving her with someone and her getting misplaced. Stressful but must be very common I’m sure.
