OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
hedgepig · 26/06/2008 20:20

Radiohead I'm so jelous JohnW, I saw them at Glastonbury one of the seas of mud years and they were fab, just looked it up it was 1997 so long ago . The only fab thing about the weekend was radiohead the mud was awful, I still have flash backs when tents are mentioned.

I went to ds's 1st school sports day it was very sweet. They did lots of team obstcle type things nd then running races. DS came last mostly because he was so excited jumping up and down at the beginning that he missed the whistle and the others were miles ahead before he woke up! it was so funny. He is also the smallest youngest boy in the school he is dwarfed by some of his class mates.

Fortified · 27/06/2008 00:35

V. jealous of you two back in civvies . Just had week 34 midwife appointment. It gets harder and harder to pee into that little bottle! Met my midwife for the first time. Seems very nice and very efficient, but she's like the scarlet pimpernel. I've only managed to get one more appointment with her before my due date!
hedgepig, sports day sounds lovely. (Also exactly like an episode of Peppa Pig I saw recently - have you seen that one?)

hedgepig · 27/06/2008 09:09

Fortified have you seen other m.wives and this is the 1st time you have seen your allocated one or have you not had any antenatal care up to now .

I haven't seen the Pepper Pig episode but it reminded me so much of my own school sports days, I used to stop mid way in a race to wave at my mom and Gran!

johnworf · 27/06/2008 09:31

Looks like Glastonbury will be a wash out again this year (no surprise there then!). My garden is awash and the roads last night were flooded in some areas.

Dunno why I'm surprised, as I do live in Manchester - or in the vicinity. Just hope it doesn't rain all over radiohead as we're at Lancashire Cricket Ground and so it'll be open.

LO's sports days are sooooo cute

Katherine is just over 2lbs as I type. She's a greedy horace these days and can poo for England - yep, the wholegrain mustard/sausage machine scenario.

Another pic from y'day for you ladies to coo over!

hedgepig · 27/06/2008 10:23

Ahh coo coo coo, she is lovely .

rosebury · 27/06/2008 10:23

Morning ladies sorry that it has been a while since I posted I tried to catch up last night but because I had lost the thread I found myself re reading the old thread thinking to myself how out of date i was until the penny dropped that there was a now thread and I had been on it lots I think that my brain has had it mush mush mush.

JW you mentioned angel cake I have not had that for years it is fab I do not see it down here I wonder if it is another northern thing?

Hedgepig sports days are lovely I have got my ds next week they have a mums race thank goodness I am not able to join in.

It is a very gloomy day here today grey clouds everywhere bring on some golbal warming, sorry if I have offended enviromentalists.

johnworf · 27/06/2008 11:21

Rosebury never thought of Angel cake as a northern delicacy but you could be right. I'll save you a piece and post it to you (note: might be a tad flat by the time you get it so I'll bubble wrap it )

Thanks hedgepig. I'm off to see the girl herself soon so I'll pass on your compliments to her

She's learnt a new trick; if she's on her front (freddie the frog) she can now lift her head and try to turn it over to the other side. Bad Katherine as she still has her ventilation/NG tubes in . I'm amazed she has the strength to lift herself!

hedgepig · 27/06/2008 13:33

You can get Angel cake in cambridge so I don't think it is specifikally northern. It doesn't seem as colourful as it used to be, probaly the colourings have been banned.
well done catherine on moving, although I appreciate it causes problems with her tubes. Are you making progess with getting her of the ventilator?

jeanjeannie · 27/06/2008 13:43

Angel cake? what's that then?..sounds yummy. I'm thinking it may be something like a posher Battenburg. johnworf you can send some down to me too....just put it in with the dog

Oh, Katherine is just scrummy in that little bonnet. Gosh 2lbs...at that age. DD1 went down to 3lbs 9 at 34 weeks....so she is going great guns. You look soo content....and young....still young!!!

Rain for Wimbledon - it's tradition aint it!
I've got a cardi on, what's that all about...soo chilly. DP is back at work....I feel like a headless chicken with two of them...but we went out today to a singing group and I'm feeling pleased with myself. Think I've peaked for today!

pwcbird · 27/06/2008 13:45

Hello all,
I dream of Battenburg cake though have always had rather a thing for marzipan, unlike so many. They do have Angel cake down here but only the sort of horrid plastic stuff in supermarkets. I've never seen a 'homecooked' type angel cake.
Feeling terribly tired today - and had washing out on line and all been rained on. I have left it there to re-dry. I don't care anymore
johnworf you look far too young to be on this thread. You look about 28! There must be a picture in your attic for sure. Katherine looks totally coochie-coo.

Kaz1967 · 27/06/2008 13:59

don't know if this is nesting or necessity but I have been up and at the house all morning packing washing etc I have this strange a sort of energy boost after feeling so knackered last night after yesterdays expedition I really was not expecting it

OP posts:
johnworf · 27/06/2008 16:05

Yes girls, I confess all...I AM Dorian Gray

ooooh kaz1967 I'm still nesting and I'm not pregnant anymore . I rather enjoy it though.

Picked up my blood meter today so I'm back to stabbing myself for a few weeks...sighs.

mrsboogie · 27/06/2008 16:53

hello all

You are probably all off doing weekend things now. Have just finished two more manic days at work. Cannot wait for a lazy weekend

jw - another lovely pic

My Lo seems to have grown this week - he feels heavier and more substantial now when he moves around. My tummy is stretchy hurty also but hey that's a good thing.

Got next mw app on Monday - will be having my wee checked for all sorts no doubt. Hope I am a glucose free zone.

Have a good weekend all.

johnworf · 27/06/2008 17:04

mrsboogie I share you sentiments re the glucose.

If my memory serves me well, I think you're about the same pregnant as I was aren't you mrsboogie? That'd make you about 28-29 weeks? Think this is the time that growing goes on? Obviously I've bypassed all of this stage.....I kinda miss my bump when I think about it. It's quite comforting and I still sometimes find myself rubbing my (flat? I wish) tum, especially when I'm looking at Katherine. Weird.

It's nice to be able to get out of bed though now without the need of a hoist and having 20 wees in the night!

hedgepig · 27/06/2008 18:27

hurahhh its the weekend and it might even be sunny. Off to Norfolk for the weekend with a view to making sand castles, if I can bend down that far!! very achey today just in one spot on my bump, maybe an elbow or something?????? Have a great weekend see you Monday H

jeanjeannie · 27/06/2008 20:29

Evening all...Oooo it's the weekend Just settled down to watch Gardener's World and it's blinkin Wimbledon...grrrr.

Oh I don't miss my bump....i've never really gelled with being pregnant - way too uncomfy for my liking. Hated not being able to put on my shoes, shave my legs or get back up from bending down without wobbling like a granny !

Oh Hedgepig off to Norfolk We had our first family holiday there last year. We went in October and it was so glorious - sun shone all week and we were at the beach everyday...ah, happy memories....that's when i found out I was preggie with verity...*sigh.

mrsboogie · 27/06/2008 20:46

gawd I'm the same - being preggers is not my cuppa tea at all - which sounds ungrateful I know at my age and all and given I have had it easy but I'm not a natural maternal type. Its not me being precious about my figure cos I wasn't exactly slim anyway

jw - yes 28 weeks yesterday - I look at your pics of Katherine and imagine that's roughly what my LO will be like now only less human looking obv cos she has filled out and looks pink and yummy .

johnworf · 27/06/2008 22:00

hehe mrsboogie.

Your baby will prolly be fatter than Katherine as she's using a lot of her calories just living at the mo whilst your little one is frolicking around without effort in your tum. The bank of machinery Katherine has is all being done by your placenta Marvellous isn't it? But yes, I should imagine your LO is along the same lines.

Love being pregnant once I get into the swing of things. Always miss my bump once it's gone. Only happy barefoot and pregnant....I'm told by DH that I'll just have to forego on the shoe option in future and skip the latter

Fortified · 28/06/2008 00:27

hedgepig sorry to have shocked you unnecessarily. I've been having proper ante-natal care - but mainly with my GP. There only seems to be one midwife at our surgery and she's booked up for months!

I'm with mrsboogie and jeanjeannie, I can't say I love being pregnant. Took dd to swimming lesson this morning and was shattered for the rest of the day. We spent the afternoon watching CBeebies - bad mummy ! Nearly cried when I heard DH was going to be late home.

johnworf, lovely new pic, Katherine looks so cute (and you look pretty good yourself)!

jeanjeannie · 28/06/2008 08:45

fortified I'm PMSL at you nearly crying cos DH was going to be late....oh, I soooo know that feeling. Actually burst into tears several times as he was held up on the M40!!

As for Cbeebies....it's a lifesaver...I've been using it as a pacifier since DD2 was born. Can't feed AND entertain a 19 mnth old too! So I guess I join you in the bad Mummy stakes

Mind you I nearly cry when it's a prog I don't like, I start shouting 'NO!' at Big Cook Little Cook or Clifford the Big Red Dog. I'd live off a diet of Charlie and Lola and Jackanory!!

Off to the kids farm today...OOooo I LOVE the baby pygmy goats...and they're for sale...I so want one!

pwcbird · 28/06/2008 10:22

jeanjeannie & fortified I hate Clifford too and Gordon the Garden Gnome grrrr. Love C&Lola though, Space Pirates, oh and probably lots more. Cbeebies is a total pacifier. Bad mommy but I learnt from Mama Mirabelle that the difference between a monkey and an ape is that a monkey has a tail and an ape doesn't (just one of those horrid red bottoms on display). So, it's edjukashonall for me too

pwcbird · 28/06/2008 10:24

oh and I did spell that wrong on purpose just in case you thought I hadn't!

johnworf · 28/06/2008 10:36

I have no idea what Cbeebies is all about but feel like I soon will do

I'm sure that Katherine will be a fan going by what I've just read.

Just going to sit back and digest all the Charlie & Lola etc info, make notes and file for future reference

Kaz1967 · 28/06/2008 12:39

johnworf Cbeebies is the BBC's channel/programmes for little kids
