OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pwcbird · 23/07/2008 08:45

I have to say that after I've been doing hou sework or gardening stuff and have been bending down etc (whilst I still can of course) that's when I seem to feel something so maybe the all fours thing is like that.

Had my accountant ring me yesterday talking about my end of year 2008 tax return (my final return now that my business is no more ) and she was asking me a few things and I thought my brain was going to EXPLODE. I wanted to say to her 'don't you realise the most intelligent my day gets is saying to DS 'Lion go ROOOAAARR' and 'what comes after number 3?' and the hardest decision I have to make is 'fishfingers and peas or cottage pie for DS's tea?' It's amazing how quickly your brain just loses its grip. I must start reading some Dostoyevsky

mrsboogie · 23/07/2008 10:36

mornin all

well he eventualy got into gear last night. Plus we had a wee listen on the Doppler to see what the heart rate sounded like and OMG!! its been a good few weeks since I used it - put the sensor thingy on my tummy and of course you can hear the heartbeat now straight off no mattter where LO is positioned but then I moved it around and got it right over his heart - sounds like a proper racing heart - not the little pitter patter it used to be. Quite scary actually but good to hear.

hedgepig · 23/07/2008 11:01

glad you feel a bit more reassured MrsB.

blooming heck pCWbird I am well impressed you can spell Doyd.....wotsist! I'm hard pressed to find the right words for cup of tea at the moment

pwcbird · 23/07/2008 11:51

hedgepig don't tell anyone but I had to check the sp on google

jeanjeannie · 23/07/2008 12:11

Hahahah pwcbird pmsl at your accountant encounter.....I dread mine calling. Last time it was such a stilted conversation...I almost turned into Mr Tumble...where I felt like I was saying..."yeeeesss....LLloooooook" complete with hand actions....to make myself understood!!

I've just tried to keep up with a Sainsbury ad where Jamie 'pukka' Oliver makes a burger....but it went to fast and I wanted to cry

Love the idea of reading great Russian literature.......but unless it's got lift-up flaps to reveal the bolshavik or touch-and-feel peasants then i've not got a hope of getting through it!!

Hot - sweaty - yukky. Don't even want cake today

FloriaTosca · 23/07/2008 12:48

MrsBoogie I think when idiots like me wax lyrical about how much they loved being pregnant,it is because it is all over and everything is ok.
I loved seeing my lo on scan (I had probs so was scanned every 2 weeks)I loved feeling him move (but was terrified when I couldn't feel anything)I loved the knowledge that I was nurturing a new person and that everything I ate, imbibed and listened to could affect him but lived in dread that I would eat/drink/do something would wrong (and I would lose yet another)
I'm glad you have a doppler and it is easy to find your los heartbeat now, it must be a great relief ...I had one, but even at 38wks (when I was admitted)his heartbeat was sometimes difficult to find even for the professionals, (in fact at 34wks my consultant tried with 2 different dopplers and eventually sent me for an emergency scan despite my assurances that I could feel him kicking) so sometimes it was as much a hindrance as a help!I hope your lo stops worrying you so much so you can enjoy him at this stage a bit more.

pwcbird · 23/07/2008 13:09

JJ LOVE your idea of lift up flaps on fancy literature. Perhaps it could be the new thing for pushy parents who want to cram their toddlers... King Lear board book with touch and feel flaps

Isn't it warm today and muggy? Horrid. It's my birthday on Friday and I was thinking it was going to be glorious and now it says thundery heavy showers. Not happy - what's the point of having a summer birthday if it's going to rain??

jeanjeannie · 23/07/2008 14:10

pwcbird - let's do it.....lets start a business. The 'Touchy-Feely-scratch n'sniff' classics for under 5s Pah - pushy parents everywhere will be casting aside their Baby Einsteins in favour of our sensory literary experience. Oooo, mustn't forget to do flash cards too....keep the Aramintas and the Jonty's well ahead of the pack

Actually I've often wanted to do books along the lines of the 'Usbourne...that's not my (fairy/dinosaur...) It would be stuff like..."That's not my Mummy - she's not drinking gin". "That's not Mummy - she's not snogging my Daddy"...........

Birthday on Friday eh......*flicks through yellow pages......stripper to Purley.....Mmmmm !

Mrsboogie - I've never been fond of being preggie. Either too sick, too stressfull or too fat. I don't miss it at all.

mrsboogie · 23/07/2008 14:19

hmmm I thought Friday was supposed to be the hottest day of the year so far?? Hot and muggy kills me. I am supposed to be off on Friday and having my hair done. All the grey is showing. Fantastically my hairdresser's has air conditioning (although the owner is very tight about turning it on)

Anyhoo ladies in more important news - I have today made a new cake discovery!! Yes, Marks are doing something new called a mochachino caramel cake. It's a disgustingly delicious looking sandwich layer creation made of cappuchino sponge and caramel buttercream`. I have purchased one this very day so that I can tell you all whether it is vilely gooey and sweet as it sounds. Watch this (ever expanding) space!

My Lo seems to be fairly active today so I hope we are getting back up to normal speed.

johnworf · 23/07/2008 17:11

Weather is awful, wish you were here

K moved to Bury today. Hopefully a pic of her getting into the ambulance to follow later.

Just off to visit her in her new home

Hugs!

jeanjeannie · 23/07/2008 18:44

OOoooo johnworf how wonderful *clasps hands...Bury in the summer - smashing Soooooo pleased she's outta there - onwards and upwards...atta girl

mrsboogie .....are you sure that's not "HAIR conditioning" *sounds of Basil Brush in distance..BOOM BOOM....groan........

Hope you've survived the cake...

Have attempted to use the baby carrier today - and Verity loved it - my back held up and it was a roaring success...hoorah...save me getting the buggy out unless I have to

FloriaTosca · 23/07/2008 18:56

JW Fantastic news...not NMGH after all!!!![relieved for you emoticon]....bubbly popped and being drunk as I speak type. Hope she enjoyed her trip and loves her new room....next stop...HOME! Congratulations!

Kaz1967 · 23/07/2008 19:24

Way hay fantastic news JW obviously consultant kicked ass then

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 23/07/2008 19:52

Oh yes, the bubbly - I forgot - I'm about to take my last can't-drink-with-anti-biotic.........SO, I'll have it for breakfast

mrsboogie · 23/07/2008 20:55

yay jw - next stop for K is home sweet home - fingers crossed all continues to go well for you both

jeanjeanie - what sort of babycarrier do you have? - they do seem very handy articles.

cake report- not too bad, not very exciting though. will have to force myself to finish it

hedgepig · 23/07/2008 21:05

That's fantastic JW she is a bit nearer home, she will be waking you up in the middle of the night before you know it.

It has finally gone coo;, we went into Cambridge this afternoon and the park and ride bus broke down and it was so hot I though I would faint. Didn't buy anything exciting, couldn't even find any maternity pants in M&S, my knickers are getting really uncomfy. There was a bloke wandering around the ladies pants section and I though for a while he worked there but he didn't have a badge or anything so thought it best not o ask him for advice on if they stocked maternity pants.

Must go and make sarnies to go to lego land tomorrow - am I mad going in the school hols on a very hot day?

johnworf · 23/07/2008 22:26

short answer is 'yes' hedgepig. Madder than Mrs Mad on national Mad day is you

Thanks ladies for all your best wishes. Yep, she does feel like she's a bit closer to home. She currently has her own room and the unit is uber quiet unlike St Mary's. Still, can't grumble as the trip there and back takes a fraction of the time.

Ok, car seat came today. Prima Viaggio with surefix base. Anyone else got/used one of these and if so, how did you find it, in particular the fixed base (I think it's along the lines of the Isofix but not quite as good/expensive)?

Great to see you back on the thread kaz1967. Hope Kez is doing splendidly

Kaz1967 · 24/07/2008 00:18

johnworf have been reading more than posting cos hard to post with one hand. Kez does love being held and fed don't mind though cos she is now passed her birth weight

OP posts:
pwcbird · 24/07/2008 08:03

JW super congrats - sorry didn't mail yesterday had maddest day. How fab to have her nearer to you. Fab news.
I think we had the Prima Vaggio ith DS - is it M&P's? My brain is totally mad .It was very straight forward to work and get in and out but I seem to remember that we generally kept the car seat on the base and didn't take him round in the car seat all that much - I used to transfer him to his pram as he was always much more comfy that way (ie lying down).

johnworf · 24/07/2008 09:12

pwcbird it is an M&P's one. I've not actually bought an M&P pushchair so it's not of the idea that I'll transfer from car to chasis. Perhaps it'll go in a supermarket trolley but that's about it. (sorry, bit old fashioned and set in my ways - would have another coach built Silver Cross but no room here so made do with large chassis silver cross and pram type body).

Didn't spot any negatives in your post so praps it was ok ?

Thanks re Katherine news Yep, it's lovely and the staff seem fab. Not that I have anything against the previous hospital staff (apart from the odd one or two), as they saved her life. This is a tiny unit which currently has only 5 other inmates. Katherine has her own nurse and even her own room at the moment. I kinda miss the interaction with other mums in the big open plan room at St Mary's but I'm sure I'll get used to the quietness here. I'm going to go early this morning and speak to the doctors as I think K needs a transfusion and I want to discuss a few other things with them about her future care.

Yep, here comes the neurotic, pestering, pain in the backside mummy

FloriaTosca · 24/07/2008 10:51

JW Way to go Pestering Mum ...that would sound good if you ever fancied a name change ..hope K is enjoying the change of air. Sorry can't advise on the car seat as we used the maxi cosi cabrio and easy base (which was fab)and am just researching the 9mth-4yr ones now.

Kaz totally understand the one handed typing...I'm doing it as we speak Well done Keziah on the weight gain.

ipanemagirl · 24/07/2008 10:59

Hello all!

I've been in denial for a few weeks but am starting to get my head round imminent arrival in 8 weeks !!!!!

Mother at school gate this morning said "ohmigod you're HUGE!!!!!!"
while everyone else is saying "what a tiny bump"

I choose to believe the majority!!!

mrsboogie · 24/07/2008 11:41

me too ipanemagirl - 8 weeks today!! seems a bit closer now but I am still feeling its a along way off while my OH looks all panicked when I say it. I am not big either, well I am big but only a bit of it is yer actual bump.

ipanemagirl · 24/07/2008 11:44

Empathyrush to you mrsboogie, how are you feeling at the moment?
I've got slightly fat feet today, so attractive....

mrsboogie · 24/07/2008 11:49

I'm fine really - fat footed as well but last night and this morning I am being a martyr to heartburn

apart from that and the fact that my LO takes three days off a week from moving or kicking scaring the bejysus out of me each time I can't complain really.

whats your EDD? can't recall from the list. mine's the 18th.
