Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mrsboogie · 29/06/2008 23:41

johnworf - know everyone reacts differently to things but I can't believe the parents never cam to visit that LO. There were still its parents however long he or she lived - whatever the prognosis was. Thats so sad.

johnworf · 29/06/2008 23:44

mrsboogie they never came. I can only assume they knew the outcome or things were bad. I was told they were asian (not sure this makes a difference) and she was a girl. Who knows what they were thinking but it's so awful for that LO not having anyone to see her and dying alone.

God, I'm setting myself off again

Kaz1967 · 30/06/2008 07:47

well arrived. Elwood did not enjoy the experience and yoweled most of the way had to give him a little wash when we arrived and fend off Sue's Daughter and a friend who had come round on the off chance LOL Logie the dog jumped the stair gate and wanted to play Elwood was not however impressed, I pulled off dog thinking he was going to kill cat only to discover cat had got in the damage and inflicted several scratches and come off fine. Plan is to try to introduce them again later today or tomorrow with no kids.

johnworf Men really do deal with situations very differently to men it is probably just that.I would be behaving the same way as you. Some nurses do handle babies in a very matter of fact way if you are unhappy about her care have a word with the nurse in charge. Not suprised you are more emotional seeing a baby die is bad enough at any time but you are very vunerable and this brings home how fragile Katherine is. Thankfully it is a rare occurance. re the parents not visiting it is not common but it is some parents way of coping. We had one asian family where the dad visited and held her once but her mum could not cope with visiting, she died in the arms of one of our students. we all deal with these things differently.

mrsboogie I am registering today and my midwife rang the hospital last week, so as organised as I can be. Sue is a nurse and if need be can do my blood pressure and test my wee

hedgepig Have spent many a summer on cromer beach My grandfather used to live close to it

Katherine has had a couple of episodes during the night and her rate on the ventilator has shot up. I'm going to go in early today and find out what is going on. She's not been right since they changed her tube yesterday for a bigger one and the xray showed they'd put it in too far and they had to pull it out.

I can really feel an episode of my own coming on...and me roaring in someones face when I go today.

FloriaTosca · 30/06/2008 09:41

JW My thoughts are with you this morning...hoping Katherine is ok after her episodes and that you didnt need to do the lioness impression.

mrsboogie · 30/06/2008 13:27

jw - hope she is ok today.

jeanjeannie · 30/06/2008 13:45

johnworf what a horrible weekend for you. HUGE ((((hug))) I can't imagine how you're holding up through all this...you're emotions must be tumbling up hills and down valley Hope Katherine has a much more settled day ...and so do you xx I shall 'facebook' you ...reveal true self!

hedgepig I'm so of you. We spent our first family holiday in North Norfolk last year...ahhh. Had a lovely cottage in Wells next the Sea...and I found out I was pregnant . Such a fab part of the world...and those skies...amazing. Never seen sky like that in the UK.

hedgepig · 30/06/2008 14:07

JW hope Katherine is doing OK. I have been working at home today waiting for the boiler man to come and service the boiler he said 10-12 and arrived at 12:30! and then if he was her for 20 mins I'd be surprised.
JJ we are very lucky and every time we go up we try to think of a way to earn a living up there so we can relocate permanently. I really like wells with the beach huts on the beach.
PWCbird hope your all feeling better thre is nothing worse then when the whole family goses down with the lurgy.
KaZ wel done on the move and online already I am very impressed.

pwcbird · 30/06/2008 15:49

johnworf really hope things are better today and Katherine is improving. Big (((hugs))) to you - you are very inspirational though I'm sure you don't feel it.

kaz1967 hope the move went well and you're feeling a bit more relaxed today. Let us know how you're getting along.

Hello everyone else. We're ok. Starting to get a bit back to normal now. Still 4 weeks til my 20 week scan (when...err.. I'll be 22 weeks) and it seems ages away so I'm sort of in that middle bit where you don't see anyone for ages. Feeling ok though, thank god the sickness has finally gone at last.

All this talk of going to lovely beachy cottages is really making me though shouldn't complain as only a month ago we were on our lovely hols. You forget so quickly once you're back.

mrsboogie · 30/06/2008 19:22

hi all, I really need to get some cheap maternity work clothes for the next 8 weeks until I go on maternity leave. Anyone know where's good either in store or online?

jeanjeannie · 30/06/2008 20:48

mrsboogie I was thrilled when Hennes opened a store here in High Wycombe - its maternity stuff is nice and cheap and surprisingly ok.

Am currently loving its breast feeding tops...so practical and discreet! Next isn't bad either - i got my combat trousers online from them. Oh and there's La Redoute...got my 'gorgeous' dungarees from there....actually they were FAB!

pwcbird · 30/06/2008 20:52

mrsboogie if you want cheap then H&M is good though I don't know about office wear if that is what you need. That's probably about the cheapest. Other high street stuff is Red Herring Maternity which is in branches of Debenhams and they're pretty good and also Pumpkin Patch, which is mainly a children's clothes shop but they also have a range of maternity stuff which is reasonable. Also Mothercare isn't bad if you pick out the good bits and if you're near London's Glittering West End you do have Top Shop Maternity. M&S and Next do maternity though only in certain shops but you can get a much bigger range from both shops if you look at their online sites. Also if you're willing to risk you can get some real bargains on Ebay - there's a massive section of maternity clothes! Not sure about other online stuff as I mainly bought high street. There's one called FunMum or something I think and of course Jojomamanbebe do a range. Hope this helps

hedgepig · 30/06/2008 21:33

MrsB where are you? I found a 2nd hand dress agency near me that just does maternity stuff maybe there is something near you? I'm near Cambridge if that is anywhere near you. Or try Evans not maternity but do larger sizes depending on your shape may fit. I'm quite lucky in my office that we don't have to dress too smartly unless we have a meeting with external people.

mrsboogie · 30/06/2008 23:29

thanks guys, yeah its office wear I need. Wouldn't normally bother but am involved in a court case soon and will need to look smart for court. Can't be bothered with a suit but need a couple of dark shirts and some shirts. Next hasn't got much online, found a couple of maternity sites but all the good stuff was sold out oddly. I'm a bit too big for topshop at the mo. Will try h and m though.

Kaz1967 · 01/07/2008 02:06

Either my waters just went or I just wet myself Now sitting on a big towel as not a lot came out and think there could be more. Not really got any pain. Feel uncomfortable but had niggles all day. Feel like got bad period pain coming in waves every few minutes. Perhaps I had better time this that was less than 5 mins apart how bad do they get? Just feel like I need a poo

OP posts:
pwcbird · 01/07/2008 08:04

Ooh Kaz1967 this could be it! My waters went 12 hours before I went into labour with DS. Just relax... could take some time. Let us know...........

johnworf how are you? Been thinking of you yesterday and hoping all well. ((hugs))

hedgepig · 01/07/2008 09:23

Kaz if the water keeps coming then it is your waters ratgher than wee (but you know this). How are you feeling any contractions? I can't find the list were you due September?

jeanjeannie · 01/07/2008 09:30

Kaz1967.......Oooooooooooooooo...should I start knitting booties...!!??? Ooooooo, I'm excited! Period pains, water loss, feeling like you want a poo...hey, I'm no expert but I'd say it's a distinct possibility that Babykaz is en route.

Keep us posted...well, as much as you can....we don't expect a blow by blow (or pant by pant) commentary from the labour ward x

johnworf · 01/07/2008 10:36

Blimey, kaz1867 is about to blow? Stand back everyone...hot towels, and water..or is it the other way around

OOh this is exciting. I wonder if Kaz will have little kaz in her arms by now?

pwcbird I'm doing ok. Up and down as per neurotic woman I am When Katherine has a good day, I have a good day...and that's just how it is at the mo. She's not put much weight on this time around - 12 grams in 2 days so waiting to see what happens on this morning's ward round. But, at least she put it on and didn't lose so that's a plus

Will keep you informed. I'll check back in here this afternoon to see if kaz has had her LO

mrsboogie have you tried budget bumps website? It's cheap but limited stock but you might find something that catches your eye.

FloriaTosca · 01/07/2008 11:01

JWRelieved that all is okish. I hope Katherine has gained a bit more this time.

kaz I hope it all goes smoothly and quickly for you..

I had some nice news yesterday...an old school chum contacted me on freinds reunited...we lost touch when she married her American 6 yrs ago and moved to Florida...she had a little girl on May 16th! there is yet another one for the over 40s statistics..that makes 10% of my class mates (that I know of)having their first children over the age of 43!

pwcbird · 01/07/2008 13:41

Hey jeanjeannie I think I just facebooked you (if it's you or else it's one of johnworfs friends that's going to get a strange message). Tell me to go jump in a lake if I've been over presumptious I won't mind.

jeanjeannie · 01/07/2008 20:47

Hey pwcbird facebooked you right back I can't lie...t'is me...and my rotten name change. I don't mind at all - although i rarely get round to using it....spend all day cruising on MN, while the children fester in dirty nappies, dust-balls collect on the floor like tumble weed and dirty dishes pile up outside the dishwasher!

Got off my backside today and walked at least a mile to the doctors and back...feel VERY smug with self! DP pushed pram though...hey, don't want to overdo it too soon

pwcbird · 01/07/2008 21:43

No news from Kaz1967 which makes me think it wasn't a false alarm and that she's probably huffing and panting in a hospital somewhere (or maybe it's done and she's up in the ward looking at her new ickle delight).... it's very exciting.

Life here is normal. 18 weeks and can't feel anything yet and they say you do earlier 2nd time around. I keep hoping to feel flutters but nothing and actually I don't really feel that pregnant as all symptoms now gone and I haven't really got a bump (due to being a bit 'curvaceous' in the first place so maybe it doesn't show). It's silly to think I was pregnant only 2 years ago and I seem to have completely forgotten everything that happens and at what stage. Pregnancy brain I suppose.

hedgepig · 01/07/2008 22:26

I have went back to the old thread for the list cos I had it in my head that KAZ was due in September and I was a bit worried but I was wrong it was mid July. So if it is all stations go she isn't too early (smile). JW I couldn't find Katherine's exact birth date. Please update as if anything is wrong.
