Ooh! Good luck @pastelheart! Hope you are doing ok.

I've got my sweep booked in so it's reassuring to hear about them working!

AmberRose26 · 04/06/2026 01:07

Best of luck @pastelheart so exciting ! ✨💛

Sara237 · 04/06/2026 04:51

@SarahAndQuack is your sweep today? Hope goes well. How are you feeling and has that beautiful Moses basket arrived yet?
@pastelheart Hope you're progressing well and not too uncomfortable. Thinking of you today.

I'm waking to pee or rotate every couple of hours now and the time my body most wants to sleep is when I have to get up for school run. Don't know how I'll manage this with baby...was much easier with my son! We've decided on a name but honestly no-one gets it 😂 they look at us vacantly and ask us to spell it...but it does feel as special as my son's name and I love it!
Have a good day everyone xx

Nosejug · 04/06/2026 06:22

Oh haha @Sara237 we could have been hanging out! I woke up (after waking to rotate every so often just like you say) at 4:30. I’m the same, very wakeful until the day it ready to get moving and then suddenly like, ooh I could go back to sleep now! Happy 37, I’m always just trailing a few days behind :)

and yesss @SarahAndQuack i want to see your beautiful Moses basket too!! (Or hear it’s arrived heh) Hope you’ve been doing well, are you winding down now? I can’t remember what you said about time off after, what are your plans for maternity leave? I have fantasies about gardening (obvs not real gardening like you though!) while my baby sleeps in their pram next to me hehe.

and eeeek some action @pastelheart ! I hope you either had some more action in the night or got some rest, so excited for you and thinking of you!! (And thanks for all the bra links!! I might try get your top recommendation in a sale!)

Hope you’re getting along well @AmberRose26 :)

pastelheart · 04/06/2026 07:00

Well… have just spent the whole night In hospital and only just got home

i had some bleeding after my sweep, which midwife said was normal but it got heavier throughout the day and was fresh blood so I called and they wanted to check me. Got in about 8pm. Had to monitor baby for over 5 hours as he would not stop moving so his heart rate was averaging over 170 for hours. Finally got a trace for about 140 for no longer than 10 mins lol
then had to wait for a doctor to do a speculum exam, which happened at about 5.30am, no active bleeding but she could see my mucus plug coming away and she could see my waters ready to pop (I did suggest she poked them but she said no) have now lost lots of my plug, so back to the waiting game. I did have a few strong contractions when on the monitor but not regular and then contractions when I was trying to sleep. So stuff is deffo happening and I just have to be patient. It’s baby boys due date today!

will keep you all updated today! X

Ooft what a prolonged pre labour @pastelheart sounds like you’re just about ready to go. Funny that your boy has been so so active all this time, will be cute to tell him about this one day! Not so cute probably being awake in hospital all night… Hope you get some rest this morning. Buttons and one born every minute but in bed, and someone bringing you tea on demand. Maybe a bell to ring?

AmberRose26 · 04/06/2026 08:21

Oh @pastelheart your waters might break soon .. eekkkk !!!! my friend said when she was past her due date she got down on her hands and knees and cleaned her kitchen floor and then was doing all the dusting up high and she had baby the next day, she went !! I also read an article about your baby sends a protein or a hormone (can’t remember) once lungs and platelets are fully developed and that signals your body to go into labour .. do doesn’t matter what you do to try ‘induce’ yourself with teas /curry /sex etc .. baby actually signals when ready to come .. I’ll share the link if anyone fancied some reading.

pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5346347/

@Nosejug i am good thanks .. just struggling with sleep same as everyone else ,😵‍💫🫠 and getting sore to bend ect now as the pressure in my uterus seems so sore .. baby’s head is partially engaged at my last appointment, not fully but she is in a good position and she said as it’s been so long since my last birth she will probably stay there as it’s like the 1st time over again .. ✨🙏🤞🏽💛 hope your decorating is coming along. Do you have any scans soon ?

Nosejug · 04/06/2026 08:38

Actually I think my waters just broke 😬. I’ve to lie down 30 mins on my left side then walk about for 30 mins… can my walking about be doing more decorating? 🫣 was just about to put on a long needed wash (so rainy here) and my hospital bag is not fully packed!! (No maternity bra ha!)

SarahAndQuack · 04/06/2026 08:46

Goodness, @pastelheart, what a marathon! Will be thinking of you today. I love that you have a name. My DD has a less-usual spelling of a fairly common name and it's always been fine - and she likes it, which I'm glad of!

@Sara237 oh, I wish it were sweep day today! No, it's the 15th, I've just got it booked in. I'm not due til the 19th. I'm just impatient. You're very close behind me, aren't you? This last bit is strange - I'd quite like to meet the baby now!

@Nosejug I too have those fantasies of pottering around while the baby coos peacefully. Grin I'm still working but I have been telling people it's the last visit for a while. I've got a garden this morning and I will enjoy it when I get there but I'm still sitting in bed drinking coffee which is a sign I don't really have the motivation!

@AmberRose26 YY, I found that fact reassuring (that there isn't much you can do to induce labour through at-home remedies). I do find Braxton Hicks ramp up when I'm really active so I am hoping that will help a bit. But my DD would still be in there if it were up to her! I hope this baby is more cooperative.

Sympathy about the soreness. My skin across my belly is so tight it hurts! How long have you to go now, I've forgotten?

Hope everyone has a good day - and especially @pastelheart!

@pastelheart sounds like and eventful night but baby boy defo getting ready to come!

AmberRose26 · 04/06/2026 09:21

Omg @Nosejug eekkkk .. wow it’s all happening this week .. hope you are feeling ok.. was there loads of fluid ? Are you getting contractions at all ? Hope you can rest and you have someone with you there !!

@SarahAndQuack sending you some motivation for the day .. we have rain here so I defo wouldn’t have the motivation for gardening 😵‍💫.. I have 4 weeks to go .. I am 36 weeks exactly tomorrow .. but I am so much bigger in my bump this time.

I have to stop taking my aspirin at 36 weeks so tonight will be my last dose .. I am excited to stop taking it and let my blood clotting go back to normal for prep for labour .. but I am also scared to stop taking it incase I blood clot or develop preeclampsia 🫠.. my blood pressure has always been good all through pregnancy so I dunno why I am worrying .. guess av just been on it so long it’s a worry when you change and do something different?! how did others get on stopping the aspirin ? Any side effects etc ?

Nosejug · 04/06/2026 12:05

No contractions! Baby has been monitored and described as “very happy” hah. There was enough fluid to spill from my underwear and go on the floor but they’re not convinced it’s amniotic as there was no protein in it, they think it’s possible it’s just a lot of discharge (which has never happened yet to me!) and I’ve to have a speculum exam to see (although they likely won’t be able to see my cervix due to it being lobbed off!) so potentially a false alarm, but as I’m high risk for infection there being careful which I appreciate!

edited to add, I only came off progesterone two days ago so maybe something to do with that!

pastelheart · 04/06/2026 13:32

Hello all, sorry for silence… I went back to bed and just got a few hours of lovely sleep!

no further update from me as I have been led down for the past 6 hours lol 😂 going to get up now and risk it for a chocolate biscuit of going to the shop quick to get some beans as I am craving chips, chicken Kiev and beans lol

@Nosejug what a turn of events! I hope you are okay? And glad baby is okay too. The amount of times I have questioned whether my waters have gone over the past few weeks has been a lot. Now I’m awake one born and chocolate buttons sounds 10/10. I feel really bad for my partner as he has been working this morning, poor man

@SarahAndQuack honestly the stop starting/ is it happening is it not has been really draining over the past couple of weeks, I keep getting my hopes up and then being sad as nothing happens. They have booked in my induction for a week today so I really really really hope I don’t have to keep that appointment but it is nice to have an actual actual end date as well.

@dubkitten very eventful and he’s deffo full of character, he has all the midwives laughing… me and his dad not so much when we were sat there at 2am waiting for him to go to sleep lol

@AmberRose26yeah I don’t think there is much you can do to start labour if you aren’t ready, I haven’t been doing anything to try and get it going other than walking and some stretches but that was more to get baby in the best position, which has worked! Maybe my kitchen floor does need to be scrubbed though…. 🤨🤨🤨

Nosejug · 04/06/2026 16:02

Haha @pastelheart i remember bonding with you and @dubkitten i think right at the start of me joining the thread over a love of chips, do it!!!

turns out yes, waters have broken, leaking away! Sorry if I jump the queue 🫣 funnily enough, it was walking down the stairs with a huge armful of laundry that did it for me. Maybe that and second coating the walls of the baby’s room last night haha. I’m fine in myself, not actually in labour. Not sad or overly worried as I’m in the right place and this is better gestation than I ever dreamt of a few months ago. Hopefully will meet baby tomorrow or potentially next day if they can’t fit me in. A litttttle worried about infection etc if I have to wait longer but if baby’s fine I’m fine. Wish I wasn’t on a shared ward though, I’m unlikely to sleep a wink!

Nosejug · 04/06/2026 16:07

@AmberRose26 funnily enough I’ve not been told to stop anything, I had to ring the consultants secretary to check if I should still be taking progesterone, we never expected to make it this far so I
never got given end dates. Same with aspirin, my last pill was just last night. No one said to stop… I can understand feeling mildly worried about it though. As long as you keep active a bit and baby keeps moving normally. We can only do what we’re told!

pastelheart · 04/06/2026 17:47

@Nosejug am I allowed to be so jealous of you 😂😂 can you send me water breaking vibes PLEASE

how many weeks are you now? I hope you are okay and glad baby is all okay. Keep us updated. Are you having a c-section? Sorry I can’t remember xx

All the best @Nosejug and @pastelheart , thinking of you both!

btw someone gave me a couple of these bras which I really like.. I spent the heatwave (in a verrry hot London flat) living in these and those supposedly disposable (but perfectly washable) maternity knickers and figured these looked mildly more respectable than some others (should anyone in the opposite block be looking in!)
I think I might try some of the m&s ones too.

Oh, and the moses basket - I was going to link to the site but I just snapped this one as I was sitting in bed, because my cat is totally sulking about not being allowed in the basket, and it cracked me up!

Nosejug · 04/06/2026 20:34

Ooo might give these a shot @MintOwl , sent dp to M&S to pick possibly a good one up. How many nursing bras does a gal need??

@pastelheart its pretty weird, just leaking fluid lots! Baby’s movements feel way more pronounced without the same liquid level. I’m a bit worried about delay to (yes) CS (having one bc consultant thinks it’s highly unlikely my cervix will dilate) and having GBS and risk of rising infection now waters have gone … I can’t tell if I’m inordinately worried? The mw said it’s def safe to not be on iv antibiotics but then it says on the gbs charity website that I should be.

{hah, I wrote that an hour or so ago but didn’t manage to send, and am leaving it there just to highlight—advocate for yourself! Becuase lo and behold I should be on iv antibiotics and delivery needs to be as soon as they can not waiting till there’s a space. Despite being told very clearly that broad spectrum antibiotics were fine for gbs and pprom and that waiting 48 hrs after ruptured membranes was safe}

Oh oh ohhh @SarahAndQuack gorgeous room gorgeous colour on walls gorgeous basket and gorgeous cat!!!

Nosejug · 04/06/2026 20:36

Oh oh ohhh @SarahAndQuack gorgeous room gorgeous colour on walls gorgeous basket and gorgeous cat!!!

Grin Thank you! She is very, very pretty but also very conscious that she is very pretty. She enjoys posing on windowsills looking cute, and also hissing at men (she has gender-based Issues). I'm spoiling her atm because we lost her sister recently, but it is a close-run thing whether she or DD will be more resentful of the baby encroaching on what they consider to be their preferred sleeping places!

SarahAndQuack · 04/06/2026 20:44

And, I don't really know about infection risks, but I would hope they will watch you closely for signs? Can you push for more information?

AmberRose26 · 04/06/2026 21:31

@Nosejug have they said you have b strep or is it just as a precaution? Hope you get your section 1st thing then if not tonight !!! Omg you could have baby here by morning .. so so exciting .. wishing you all the best for your hours /day ahead !! ✨💛🤞🏽🙏

@SarahAndQuack your cat is so cute , we have two cats .. I have had to order a net that goes over pram and Moses basket and bouncy chair as they will defo want to sit in it .. I ordered ‘universal mosquito nets’ pack of two on Amazon and it should keep them out the baby’s things 🙃
