Just back from my GP check up - all looking good. I’ve really bad back pain the last few days and he reckons I might have pulled something. Recommended exercises and a birthing ball

Congratulations to all those who have given birth so far! I'm currently 40+3 and getting impatient! Do any of you have recommendations for products that have helped you post partum? Last time round I'm sure i bought spritz for bits but I can't remember if it was any good or not. Any hidden gems I should pack in my hospital bag? X

I don’t have any miracle products, but I found a peri bottle useful. Stock up on pain relief (paracetamol/ibru) just so you have it if needed. I mentioned further up in the feed about a postpartum caddy, which was a life saver. In terms of baby - you can never have enough muslin cloths! I use them for everything and go through loads a day.
Hope baby makes an appearance soon 🤞🏻😊 x

100% the always pants, in a purple packet! Swear they was a game changer and so comfortable, better than the maternity pads xxx

My little Robyn made a dramatic entrance to the world yesterday by emergency c section weighing 8lb 4. A due date baby! Also sharing the birthday with her nanny which is amazing. I am so in love with her 💕 can’t stop staring at her.

Appreciate any recovery tips for c sections as I was not prepared for one 😅

They love to party at night. Atlas is the same. We had about 5 days good sleep through the night. Now he back to partying 🤣 x

Congratulations on the birth of Robyn.

in terms of recovery I found keeping on top of painkillers helped, and trying to move around abit slowly but definitely helps overall.

chewing gum for the trapped gas pain
peppermint tea to help keep you regularly. The hospital should also prescribe lactulose Because if they prescribe dihydrocodeine, it can back you up.

a pillow over your incision on the drive home, when you cough, laugh, sneeze, go to the toilet.

if your able to dressing gown strap attached and tipped on your bed can use it then to help lift yourself up.

I found maternity pants nicer to wear than pads as it went over the incision.

more than anything listen to your body. I’m 2 and half weeks post c section, and I’m able to do the school run and some light jobs around the house. Nothing to crazy. Xx

Nynm23 · 16/01/2026 08:06

Rotund and pelvis pain here but most other symptoms gone which means I feel somewhat more human. I’m 38+1, this time last pregnancy I had my DD in my arms already so will be a weird week and a bit to wait.

Not sure if I’m getting braxton hicks or it’s just baby’s size when they move but the movements stop me in my tracks - again not something I experienced first time with a small babe.

Currently just worrying about how DD will cope with the new arrival and some coping strategies for post partum, freezer full, entertainment for toddler.

Delighted for you all in your baby bubble 💕 x

WildFinch · 16/01/2026 14:07

I'm also 38+1 @Nynm23 . Had a growth scan on Monday and they found an ovarian cyst on baby so another scan at 39 weeks. Consultant wasn't overly concerned.
Having a lot of what I assume is lightning crotch pains that take my breath away. Baby is growing on 51st percentile so not huge thank god. Not ready for her to come yet I'm enjoying my maternity leave pottering about the house!

Getting on good. Baby is settling in well, it’s like she has always been here. Had to go buy more newborn sleep suits as her legs keep popping out of the 0-3 😂😂

As for me - I’m still sore from the episiotomy so hopefully that and the constipation go away soon! Getting use ti having to get up during the night and functioning on less sleep 😴

Oh I definitely have one of them, wakes for her bottle and then just stays awake for a while. During the day she falls straight asleep after her bottle

Happy to hear baby is settling well. Oh bless you. Definitely get newborn bits. Atlas already in 0-1 month and is so alert. Not my sleepy newborn anymore.

hope not sore for too long! Bless you!! Have you got any peppermint tea? That’s helped me

Sunshinemoom · 17/01/2026 13:35

Oh tell me about it. Baby has feet that have outgrown newborn so up to 1 month is perfect sizing for her right now. Tried 0-3 month yesterday and legs were lost within minutes even though she wasn’t wriggling around. Should probably buy more 1 month stuff but feels a waste so washing machine is constantly on the go

Has anybody used breast milk collection shells? I’m leaking so much this time round and wondering if it worth me investing in some!

@Sunshinemoom I’ve ordered some
cheapy ones to try out because I’m leaking too..

I ordered some of vinted. Hopefully they work for both of us 🤞🏾 I didn’t leak like this with my first born!

Welcome to the new babies 👶 love the name Robyn too 🥰

Ive been fully wrapped up in the baby bubble! (2 weeks today) Little man has fitted in perfectly and his big brother is amazing!!

We have another colicky baby which is sly watching him.struggle with his wind but hes taking it like a champ and is a absolute dream so aswell. Plus hes back to just ober his birth weight too.

We have been to register him today so hes all official.

How is everyone recovering? Ive started the school run again this week and feel like more myself again. My back and hips have been in bits since giving birth i think Harry being so big it effected me more this time round.

ChickenLady37 · 20/01/2026 19:53

I'm still waiting and going demented. 41+1 today. I've had 2 sweeps, and midwife said she would be surprised if the second one didn't work, but then nothing! I've been avoiding an induction but provisionally booked it in for 42 weeks and praying that I've gone into labour naturally before then. I don't remember feeling this fed up in my previous pregnancies, but back then you weren't considered late until 42 weeks rather than the 41 weeks they say now.

curliegirlie · 20/01/2026 22:49

I had my consultant appointment today and I’m now booked in for an induction at 9am on Sunday at 39+4, so I’m desperately hoping things can kick off in the next few days. I really don’t want it to come to the induction….I read far too many stories about them being horrible and far too often ending up in c-sections. The only reason they’re pressing for it is because I’m 43! My pregnancy otherwise has gone really smoothly….

@Jadeypiethose 2 weeks have gone quickly.

so rubbish he is colicky, have you tried infacol? Or probiotics? Atlas had the same issue He’s starting to get a bit of a rash on his face. And he quite refluxy. I’m hoping it doesn’t mean he’s got a dairy allergy starting as that’s how my first born started. 😩

my recovery is going well, started driving again which is nice to get out the house. How you finding the school run?

@ChickenLady37did the second sweep work? I hope you go into spontaneous labour before induction date.

@curliegirliei also hope you go into spontaneous labour before Sunday. That’s how I felt. I always said in this pregnancy if I wasn’t having a C-section, I would refuse to be induced.!

WildFinch · 21/01/2026 10:33

My midwife said my Trust has just changed their rules and are happy for most people to go to 42 weeks now. I'm seeing my consultant on Monday when I'll be 39+4 for another scan as they found an ovarian cyst on baby. I've already refused being booked in for induction at 40 weeks as the only reason seemed to be I turned 40 a few months ago. Similar to you @curliegirlie I don't want induction to start a cascade of interventions if she's not ready to come out. If everything seems ok do you feel you can refuse induction on Sunday? I've always been told it's a conversation rather than an instruction.

curliegirlie · 21/01/2026 11:36

I suppose technically it was a conversation, but one in which I was being very clearly steered, and the consultant was telling me about the (albeit small) increased risk of stillbirth if the pregnancy is taken beyond 40 weeks. I’ve opted for the balloon method and have requested a sweep beforehand 🤞🤞🤞. I’ve been feeling uncomfortable the past few days but not in an early labour kinda way I don’t think (bump often feels tight and /or I feel like I’m being elbowed from the inside, but no period like pains or anything resembling contractions). I just feel this window for spontaneous birth keeps shortening, on the one hand by induction being Sunday rather than Monday, on the other hand DH has a hugely manic day at work today (is a senior civil servant and has a 4 hour meeting with his ministers this pm from 4….), and my daughters are desperate for it not to clash with Brownies tomorrow, where they’ll be buying and comparing chips from two chippies for their fish and chips badge 😂.

I really should go out and do a few errands (get a walk in today) but the weather’s miserable and I’m quite enjoying lounging in bed!
