Just back from my GP check up - all looking good. I’ve really bad back pain the last few days and he reckons I might have pulled something. Recommended exercises and a birthing ball

Breastfeeding here but also don’t wake her up to feed. Although she can’t talk yet she is more than capable of letting me know when she’s happy 😂

moved up into 3-6 month clothes and had second set of jabs this morning. Poor baby was not happy at all

WildFinch · 17/03/2026 18:01

Thanks for the advice everyone.
I'll let her wake me up for feeds overnight then. I just find it stressful when she's screaming waiting for the bottle to be ready but will manage 😕 I'll like the longer stretches of sleep!
Happy St Patrick's Day!

Happy St Patrick's Day!

I use the prep machine upstairs and stay in the room in the dark feed him and he goes straight bk down. He goes asleep for half 7 and wakes half 3 for his first bottle and then half 6. Of a day hes every 3 hours thats his little routine hes fell in so nonway im I going to disturb it haha. As for of a day I just use the kettle. Hes on special milk and you have to wait for the water too cool before making so its easier.

We finally had our 6 week check today (at 10 weeks old) he has a little heart murmer so being refered to cardiologist. She said not to worry tho! Other than that little man or shall I say big man is thriving hahah. She gasped when she measured his length haha hes tracking like a 5 month old 🤣 goinf to be tall like his daddy.

He was delighted to be in his nude kicking away on the bed for the dr hahs. Anyone els trying to roll yet my first never did but im convinced harry is on a mission these last few days. I dont feel like ive had a newborn it goes so so quick second time rouns xxx

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone else has a particularly fractious baby. Our little one seems to just cry bitterly when she's not being fed. I get a couple of of good burps out of her and a second or two of silence and then she starts crying again. Not really much of a sleeper either! Tried gripe water, cuddles and everything, obviously including nappy changes, but to no avail. When she is calm she is a darling but seeing her struggle is making me sad. I've read that this is pretty common after 6 weeks old but wondering how long it might last.
Any advice welcome.

WildFinch · 20/03/2026 00:25

How old is she @Objectiontime ? Mine is nearly 6 weeks and I've read a lot that 6-8 weeks is when the fussiness and crying peaks due to development leaps and growth. Then it gets better. No advice I'm afraid but I'm bracing myself for the same.

Hi there, she is six and a bit so hopefully you are right. Will report back when she gets to eight 🤣

I would agree with the fussy stage mine was the same. Hes 10 weeks old now and chilled right out (for now) haha he can kick off tho only either he wants his bottle right now or ges tired, ive noticed he shouts for attention if your not looking at him haha. Xx

WanderWalker · 20/03/2026 14:34

@Objectiontime I agree with everyone else. We went through a really fussy stage around 6-8 weeks. It does pass hang in there x

WildFinch · 20/03/2026 18:25

Curious to know if I'm mad. We've booked a week in Spain in June when baby will be just 4 months. We've booked a selfie catering apartment by the beach. Do people think it's doable or should we wait until she's a bit older? I've heard the 4 months regression is tough.

If it was me I would go - if you have to go through the 4 months sleep regression then you might as well do it with sun and a cocktail!

We were planning on going away to Turkey in August but money wise am not sure if it’s going to be doable - think I’d rather use the money to stay off work longer

Thanks @dubkitten agree sun and a cocktail make anything a bit more bearable! I think we'll still go. I was just a bit alarmed how everyone looks shocked/surprised when I mention it!

We are struggling this week. LO has always been a frequent night waker (1am, 3/4am, 6am, 8am) but previously has fed, nappy change if needed and straight back down. This last week she wakes with wind about half hour after she goes down and last night was up for over 2 hours crying on and off between her 1am and 3am wakes going back down about 4am.

We have restarted infacol to try and get the burps up but she’s not a big burper generally. Tried gripe water but she hates it so getting her to take 5ml is a struggle and she screams so much it feels like it’s defeating the point because she’s taking in air doing that. We tried coleif for one feed but when you’re EBF it’s such a faff and she wouldn’t really take the mixture from me (she did better with DH but obviously he’s not always available).
I sit her up for 10-15 mins after a feed and we do wind exercises through the day routinely and at night if she is distressed because I don’t want to wake her too much doing them routinely. I try to keep her head above her stomach during feeds too.

She sleeps quite soundly on her stomach (on my chest) but then when she is transferred the gas pain kicks in.

Health visitors are on strike and you can only get emergency appointments which I’m not sure this warrants because she’s having a decent amount of wet and dirty nappies, gaining weight well (well she has been I haven’t weighed her myself now that the HV apts have stopped)

She only contact or pram/car naps in the day so I’m struggling to catch up on sleep. If I put her down she only sleeps for about 20 mins max so she ends up overtired and it’s a vicious cycle 😅

dubkitten · 24/03/2026 13:39

That sounds very tough @Confusedmermaid1 - I’ve no advice sorry as we haven’t had it but just wanted to sympathise

@Confusedmermaid1 how old is your little one? We went through a phase of that and nothing we did helped (pace feeding, feeding up right, sitting up for 20 mins after a feed, infacol etc). My little girl was the same would only contact nap, was happy on her front (on my chest), but as soon as I laid her down she would cry. It ended up were she was awake most of the night and we were surviving on very little sleep. I can fully sympathise. I don’t have any brilliant advice to be honest, but just more to reassure you that one day it just gradually got better until she was back sleeping through the night. I know there are leaps in development and growth on certain weeks, so not sure if it has anything to do with that maybe x

Confusedmermaid1 · 25/03/2026 10:18

@WanderWalker she’s 9 weeks. We had a better night last night, only one windy wake up on top of the usual feeds. DH let her sleep on his chest until her 1am feed so I could have a stretch so even though she was still up frequently it felt more manageable 😅

curliegirlie · 25/03/2026 12:36

How are people finding day time naps? Freya will often sleep for a couple of hours still. Should I enjoy it or is it something I should be worried about (given previous jaundice/weight gain issues)? Sorry, I’m maybe feeling twitchy as I haven’t had her weighed for a couple of weeks, as I had a clash with the HV drop in session last week. I have a HV visit scheduled for tomorrow though, and up to the week before, she’d been following the 50th percentile nicely for about 3 weeks.

She’s 8 weeks today. How did that happen?! 🤯

WanderWalker · 25/03/2026 15:51

@curliegirlie my little one is 12 weeks and she isn’t in any sort of nap schedule. Some days she’ll sleep lots, other days less. I’m not getting her into any sort of routine at the minute I’m just letting her lead the way. I would say enjoy it, but I defo don’t think it’s anything to worry about as long as she seems okay health wise and gaining weight. I think when you start getting them into a routine is personal choice, but I’m just letting her lead the way so far x

curliegirlie · 25/03/2026 16:50

I think I’m just so unsure because I had two very different experiences previously. DD1 had to be combi fed until she was 7 months old and tended to have very long naps, DD2 didn’t have weight issues and would only catnap (only ever on me!). DD3 is also combi fed, but not after every feed, so I guess I just hope I haven’t been taking my eye off the ball with that! I’m not fussed about routine per se.

Thegirlhasnamechanged · 25/03/2026 17:00

@curliegirlie im also not following any routine with daytime naps and purely following her lead/watching for her tells that she’s knackered and could do with a nap. I’ve noticed she tends to do her longest nap of the day straight after the school run but definitely changes day to day.

easier said than done but try not to stress about it too much. Nora still has tints of yellow in her eyes from jaundice (14 weeks later) but I’m confident that she’s growing and getting plenty of what she needs. She can’t talk but definitely knows how to tell us she isn’t happy 😂

dubkitten · 25/03/2026 20:41

I am the same and just following her lead for naps. Most times she only naps for about 30-40 mins

OP posts:
curliegirlie · 25/03/2026 22:48

Yes, I’m definitely not into dictating her naps! Thanks for the reassurance. Her last prolonged jaundice test was nearly two weeks ago (following a previous one which found slightly elevated levels in one of her liver enzymes) but as they’ve not got back to us with the results I assume they were all fine. It will be nice to draw a line under the jaundice stuff properly though….
