Just for fun as I know everyone is different and babies tend to come when they're ready. Just curious to know when others first baby arrived and was it accurate to your due date?
Also did you experience any signs you were nearing labour?
FTM here with a week to go and excited to meet my little one, and thinking every twinge is a sign hahahah

My first was 2 weeks early and my second 2 weeks late 😂

I remember feeling like I didn't want to go out far with my first (we were due to go meet friends an hour away) and had some tugging sensations. That evening my waters broke.

With my second I had braxton hicks for weeks before they were born and every time I was convinced it was the start.

Ps: good luck, what a lovely Christmas present you will have

Fertility babies here so absolutely knew the dates were correct (although one sonographer did try to change them). Dc1 was born at 39 and 6 days. Dt were induced at 37 weeks.
With dc1 I felt 'off' and generally uncomfortable all day. Something told me to put some towels on the bed before I went to sleep. Midnight woke up sat up and my waters broke. Dc one arrived 13 hours later.
Dt id been on bed rest for 6 weeks, in hospital for 2 weeks in slow Labour but no signs of developing.
Congratulations and good luck hope its not too long.

PevenseygirlQQ · 02/12/2025 15:54

Baby 1 was 10 days early and baby 2 was 17 days early, wasn’t impressed with baby number 2 as I’d only been on MAT leave 5 days 😂

JoyousMauveBear · 02/12/2025 15:55

My first was born at 39+4 weeks. Had a sweep and my waters broke, started having contractions the second I arrived at hospital to be induced!
My second was born at 38+3 also after a sweep started having contractions a couple hours after, managed to get to 8cm and opted for a section (was already booked in for 39 weeks but didn’t make it that far). I was having lower back ache and period type cramps on and off and when I went in for my sweep I was 2cm.
My third is due tomorrow via c section at 38+1. Very nervous and very excited.
Hope all goes well for you, it’s such an exciting time welcoming a new baby x

LER2023 · 02/12/2025 16:11

I was dilating from 39+2 after my first sweep and i was 1 - 2cm, second sweep at 39+5 i was 2cm and third sweep at 40+2 i was 3cm, went into labour at 7pm after my third sweep, 33 hours of labour gave birth at 40+4.
I was nesting at 40+1, i then started with backache and couldnt walk because of pressure down there.
Then the tightenings started and then the labour pains.
My waters didnt break until i was 10cm and he started coming out😅
I wasnt allowed into hospital for pain relief until my contractions were between 3 - 4 minutes apart and longer than a minute and i needed to have a bath and some paracetamol before i was allowed to go in. Funny though because i couldnt walk without contracting, so when i was eventually allowed into hospital the walk to the car and into the hospital was hilarious. Each step i took i contracted, took me about 40 minutes to walk from the car into the main entrance of the hospital. Bare in mind we had parked by the door🤣

Good luck, wishing you all the best! X

My first was 38+6. My waters went midnight and baby arrived at lunch time. No signs until the afternoon before hand I had put my desk in the loft and then a sharp pain in my side and my bump went squidgy.

My second arrived at 37+1 after a sweep at 36+6 and induction at 37+0. I had been assessed for preterm labour a few times as contractions started at 33 weeks!

DelphiniumBlue · 02/12/2025 16:31

DS1 36 weeks, DS 2 & 3 were both 37 weeks ( not twins!). All of them 7lbs +.

Swarly · 02/12/2025 16:56

My first was at 41 + 6 days following an induction the day before. Absolutely no signs of labour 😅

Astrabees · 02/12/2025 17:27

DS1 bang on time, on due date. DS2 10 days late, and as he was born at home I managed to get a good look at him straight away and he looked very miserable indeed.

blankcanvas3 · 02/12/2025 17:49

my first was 4 days late, second was 4 days early and third three weeks early

Shopaholic100 · 02/12/2025 17:55

First was 2 weeks late and I had to be induced as she did not want to come out. Second was 2 weeks early.

IcouldbutIdontwantto · 02/12/2025 18:05

First baby - the evening before the due date after 21 hour labour
Second baby - half an hour into their due date after an 8 hour labour.

I have very punctual babies 😆

CalliopePlantain · 02/12/2025 18:09

38+4
39+4
41+6
40+3

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 02/12/2025 18:20

40 + 2 and 39 + 2. Went in to labour naturally on both.

Didn't have many twinges with either until the day before x

schoolfriend · 02/12/2025 18:29

Both of mine were 2 weeks early

WhoGonnaCheckMeBoo · 02/12/2025 18:47

1 day early

EllieWales · 02/12/2025 18:50

37 + 3 with DS. I had cramps for a couple days then my waters broke, I had to be induced 24 hours after that because labour didn’t start on its own and he was born the next day. Currently pregnant with #2 and hoping for another early baby 🤞

Meadowfinch · 02/12/2025 18:53

Ds arrived at 40+6.

I went into labour at 40+4, progressed slowly, then they lost his heart beat so I was put under and ds was delivered in a hurry (90 seconds).

He came out pink and yelling so all OK in the end. 🤗

Reification · 02/12/2025 18:57

Ten days late - had a sweep at a week late, waters broke late night the next day (8 days over) but contractions didn't start properly - went in when my waters broke, was sent home, told to come back when contractions were regular or after 12 hours. Went back (morning of nine days over) and they induced me - long back to back labour ended in a caesarean section at ten days over.

First babies are statistically usually born later than their due date and the mother's subsequent babies each a little earlier, but of course individual cases don't necessarily follow the statistics!

SelfRaisingFlour · 02/12/2025 19:21

My first was born on his due date, but I was induced the day before due to pre- eclampsia. My other two were born about 5 days after their due dates.

typedupandchucked · 02/12/2025 19:21

40+2 spontaneous

typedupandchucked · 02/12/2025 19:22

Second 38+1 induced

Lovelynames123 · 02/12/2025 19:23

Dd1 was 18 days early, 5hrs from waters breaking to her appearance, dd2 only 9 days early but arrived in less than 2 hours! Good luck!

Tattletail · 02/12/2025 19:50

My first was 8 long, hot days late 😅 and I didn't really get any pre warning, just woke up with cramps and thought oh this is must be it.

With my second I did a lot of pooing in the days leading up to it so though that was a bit sus.

Good luck!
