Just for fun as I know everyone is different and babies tend to come when they're ready. Just curious to know when others first baby arrived and was it accurate to your due date?
Also did you experience any signs you were nearing labour?
FTM here with a week to go and excited to meet my little one, and thinking every twinge is a sign hahahah

40 weeks and 5 days.
I started getting feelings like a bad period around midnight.
I went to hospital around 3am and was 6cm dilated. Had some gas and air and then some pethidine. My son was born at 6.37am, my waters didn’t break until the head was out and the pushing part of labour took 47 seconds!
You must be excited, what a lovely time of year to have a baby.

amispeakingintongues · 02/12/2025 21:02

My first arrived on his due date. But I had a light bloody show the morning before, waters broke (in public!) that same day, then contractions started that evening and I delivered him the following afternoon 1pm. 25 hrs after waters broke.

second arrived on due date. Mild period pain in the morning then only contractions progressively stronger until she arrived at 9pm that same evening. Bloody show arrived 1 hr before she was here. Waters broke only after reaching 10cm and pushing a few times. Such different labours!

GraySweatpants · 02/12/2025 21:28

Both of mine were born on 40W + 2D spontaneously! My husband said my body is a machine haha

No clear signs for either of them. I did have the bloody show roughly 12 hours before contractions started for both of them though.

Good luck OP!

TheNameWasOnceChosen · 02/12/2025 21:43

I was induced for both of mine at 37 werk. Both times with the epidural in and started before systems go.

mondaytosunday · 02/12/2025 22:02

My first was just over three weeks early. I had a section booked ( medically advised ) but he decided he was to going to wait.

me24x · 02/12/2025 22:03

40 + 5 but was having contractions for 3 days all at night time until the 3rd day when they were all day long, that night we went to the hospital and she was born at 7:07am the next morning!

DC2 was 40 +3 and had the 3 days of contractions, again!!!

Elektra1 · 02/12/2025 22:04

2 weeks after due date, following a cervical sweep. Having planned a home birth with private midwife, ended up with a traumatic EMCS.

14themoney · 02/12/2025 22:06

35+5, waters went at 6pm and he was born via emergency c section at 11.53pm the same night

CoodleMoodle · 02/12/2025 22:14

DD came at 40+6, but they changed her due date halfway through the pregancy and she came on her original date (which I thought was the right one based on my dates).

DS on the other hand came at 38 weeks, he wasn't hanging about!

SpeedyBulletTrain · 02/12/2025 22:26

41+5. I went in for my induction but I was already in labour! 😊

DramaAlpaca · 02/12/2025 22:30

I had three spontaneous labours with the babies arriving five days early, five days late, then five days early again.

jackstini · 02/12/2025 22:33

41+2 by their dates, 42+5 by mine

And my LMP was on a flight so I definitely did not have the dates wrong!

She was overcooked and lazy - had emcs to get her out!

Good luck with the birth and congratulations ☺️

BeenChangedForGood · 02/12/2025 22:34

Induced at 39+4 and he still kept me waiting until his due date 🫠🤣
Due date was the date me and DH had worked out when first got positive test, and the date given at every scan 🤣 so clearly that was meant to be his birthday!

SleafordSods · 02/12/2025 22:38

DC1 arrived at 38+1 avd is say the first sign was that I needed to pee very frequently.

Hope baby arrives soon for you Flowers

Denim4ever · 02/12/2025 22:44

2 months before expected. He was tiny until Yr 10, now over 6 ft.

Rivertrudge · 02/12/2025 22:46

She was ten days late and had to be induced. Judging by the squashed nose she arrived with (it soon straightened out) and her current habits, she was too cosy in there sucking her thumb and reading a book.

Trampoline · 02/12/2025 22:49

40+9, 2 days after sweep. Twinges started the day after the sweep. Never had the urge to push despite a natural delivery- still can't work that out! 2nd baby was also late, labour began same day as sweep. Waters didn't break with either baby until the final pushing stage.

Good luck OP, I remember being nervous/excited at every twinge, it is hard to know what's what with first baby. You'll definitely know when it starts properly.

daffodilandtulip · 02/12/2025 22:50

First arrived on the date I'd worked it out from my last period before I saw the midwife. They said my due date was a week later.

Second got the dates messed up and after an emergency scan at 37 weeks, they decided baby was actually 43 weeks and needed to be induced right now. Never got the induction though, he just appeared minutes later.

Make that 41+2? It's so long ago I've forgotten the terminology!!

Most babies these days do not come out at exactly 9 months. They come either a few weeks early, or a few weeks late, from what i have heard and seen.

Edited

A few weeks late is very high risk though, so anything over a week late should be being closely monitored by healthcare professionals.

40 + 14 for the first (induced vaginal), 39 for the second (ELCS), 37 for the third (ELCS) and 39 for the fourth (ELCS)

Congratulations, OP and a very Merry Christmas to you 🙂

00deed1988 · 03/12/2025 11:25

39+5 according to ultrasound (39+3 according to my LMP) My waters went at 39+3 but labour did not start so I was induced. Everyone told me I would go over as 1st baby and all my family go overdue so I was shocked! No signs of anything before!

readingisallowed · 03/12/2025 11:39

First arrived 7 weeks early. Second was 11 weeks early.
Should have been end of January and beginning of march.
Labour for the first was 1 hour, second labour was 3 hours.
Panic stations as it was 2 weeks before Christmas for both.
