Had my checking in appointment today with midwife. Went well, had bloods taken. Times have changed since I had my first two children. All my antenatal documents are now all in a app 😂 I’m high risk pregnancy thanks to some antibodies I was gifted by my first ever miscarriage amongst other things so apparently I get a consultant and a few extra scans along the way.
I read through some of the comments below and my boobs felt like bricks with stabbing pains through my nipples but I’m 8weeks and 1 day now and they don’t hurt so much, I agree with some of the comments that the pain can fluctuate too. I’m still feeling sick and the smell of everything repulses me, the sickness doesn’t feel so intense the last few days but then I have noticed that if I chew gum it suppresses it so it could just be chewing gum is my new favourite thing 😂

DesertSnow · 17/11/2025 16:13

Exciting there are some 12 week scans coming up. Mine won't be till I'm 13 weeks so I shall have to live vicariously through you all in the time being.

I haven't bled in 10 days so I'm hoping the haematoma has sorted itself out, but I'll be on progesterone till I'm 16 weeks if all goes well. Sickness is so much worse than it was with my daughter, wondering if it's just because I'm a bit older. My cousin is just out of the first trimester and says she 'just felt a little tired'.

Still struggling with the loss of my dad and there's been a lot of falling out with one of my brothers over the will and funeral. I haven't told my brothers I'm pregnant yet as it feels a bit too muddied with the grief and I don't think it's the right time, but I'm going to my dad's house to sort through some stuff on Saturday and will tell one of them then. I'm also moving house in January (hopefully) so there's a lot going on - hopefully the pregnancy symptoms will have improved by then.

@RJF89 Thank you, work have given me a couple of days off for the funeral so it's better than nothing. Sorry your reveal was underwhelming too! I like your phrase 'nausea nibbling'.

@Niknak8493 and @SummerSolstice25 yay for the scans, congratulations. Always nice to be told you're a bit further along than you think! @SummerSolstice25 Symptoms can definitely come and go, and not everyone gets sore boobs. I remember having sore boobs at the beginning last time but I think they disappeared at some point, and it didn't mean anything other than fluctuating hormone levels which is normal.

@Dee51121 how did you get on with the GP?

@Summer022 Hope all goes well with your scan. I had fetal growth restriction in my last pregnancy too, it's so difficult and definitely makes me approach scans differently this time.

@Katie2908 I'm sorry about your niece and that you've been unwell, hope you're doing ok.

@Pregnantera I'm already back in my maternity leggings 😁

Katie2908 · 17/11/2025 16:52

@RJF89stop. Im struggling with buttoning my clothes up too and keep going hot. I couldnt imagine being in work and struggling like that! Im glad you felt ok after biscuits!

@chequeredcushioni was going to do same and tell at xmas. But as I've been so unwell, and plus now im super bloated I look pregnant and struggling in my clothes I dont think I could hide it for another 5 weeks! I will be telling my family at an early xmas meal at my house then sending cards to everyone else saying from "me partner and bump" i cant wait for reactions. I think at xmas the gender will be the surprise.

@DesertSnowim so sorry. I lost my dad many years ago and its an unbearable pain. Family drama too is awful. My sister without telling us bagged up all his stuff and threw it outside. I was left going through the bags distraught at what she had done. Just take it day by day and try just to focus on funeral and getting by, and ignore any family drama and concentrate on yourself and own needs. I wish someone told me that when I was going through grief I was too worried about everyone else.

Katie2908 · 17/11/2025 16:53

Thank you everyone for being kind about my niece. ❤️

RJF89 · 17/11/2025 17:00

@Katie2908 I'm very lucky I was at home this morning 😅 I'm only supposed to go in 2 days a week, but no one else in my team is based in Scotland and my manager has 2 young boys so is very understanding having temporarily given up a long commute herself!

Pregnantera · 17/11/2025 17:49

@chequeredcushion I’m actually on a sex ban of all things - because I had quite a bad bleed a few weeks ago I’m not allowed to at all but I have no desire either. At least it’s a good excuse!

@RJF89 oh god - are you ok? Would you say feeling warmer is a pregnancy symptom for you. In Yorkshire I’ve been freezing cold today and having to layer up. I suspect jumper dresses might be the way forward for me at work, already have one but might get a few extras in.

@Niknak8493 I suppose extra scans given the previous miscarriage might be a reassurance to you too even if they are saying you are high risk.

@DesertSnow good to hear from you and good news about the bleeding. Families and grief just do not mix sometimes and I can understand why you don’t want to announce your pregnancy right now when things are a bit tense. It seems maternity leggings are what I need too so will get some ordered.

Niknak8493 · 17/11/2025 17:56

Yes I won’t complain about extra scans. They will be after the 20week scan though. I’m just keen to get to my 12 week scan and see if everything is going ok 😊

RJF89 · 17/11/2025 17:59

@Pregnantera I'm absolutely fine now, I was only hot for that 10 minutes so I'm back to being cold now 😭😅 I'm quite used to other people fainting having been a dental therapist pre covid so that helped me not panic. I think I'll have to tell my colleague who was on the call as I asked at the end if I should set up a weekly or fortnightly series of meetings for the group and I can't remember the answer 😅

Pregnantera · 17/11/2025 18:49

@Niknak8493 I am on countdown to the 12 week scan too. I know everything was ok at the scan ant 8 weeks right after the bleed but I can’t help but worry. I am supposed to have extras scans because of the shape of my uterus which caused the bleed but I will see if that materialises.

@RJF89 pleased you are ok - it must have been scary and you did well to stay calm. I would have been freaking out!

Dee51121 · 19/11/2025 13:58

@DesertSnow thanks for asking and @Niknak8493 @RJF89 @Summer022 @Pregnantera for the reassuring messages.

I went to the GP on Monday afternoon, really glad I did as I found out I have a UTI, which explains the tinge of blood when I wipe. I've never had a UTI before and don't have the obvious symptoms I usually associate with it, such as stinging when I wee, so I had no idea. I feel like I went in the nick of time as I started to feel really unwell yesterday - I've had nausea (which obviously I assumed was pregnancy related) but then started to have a slight ache in my lower back, so I'm pretty sure I have a kidney infection. Started antibiotics yesterday and feel a bit better today compared to how I was yesterday so hoping I'm on the mend (although off work currently). I'm also booked in for a blood test on Friday to keep an eye on my hCG levels.

My other news is, after I left a 2 star review on Google, I got a call from the scan place I went to last week saying they've had a change of policy and now offering free re-scans, so I'm booked in for Tuesday. The GP told me these types of scans can be a couple of weeks out and differ based on the skills of the sonographer, so I'm really hoping I will be able to see more than just a sac next week. At the very least I just hope I'll know one way or the other, it's the limbo feeling I can't stand.

I haven't studied all the posts on this thread, but is anyone dealing with young kids while pregnant? My 17 month-old had a sickness bug at the weekend which meant she was off nursery yesterday, so that was really hard when I felt so unwell. I managed the morning before calling my DH to come back from work. I don't have any family nearby to help with childcare so I had to take her to the doctor's appointment with me on Monday - nothing more humbling than trying to get a urine sample while your toddler has made off with the cardboard thing they give you and is trying her best to unlock the toilet door. Definitely finding it all a bit tougher this second time around!

Niknak8493 · 19/11/2025 14:10

@Dee51121 glad you are on antibiotics and hopefully on the mend, good news on the appointment for a rescan too and the blood test. I know how that limbo feels it’s awful but I’m really hoping you have a great outcome 😊 as for the pregnancy with younger children. My gap wasn’t as small with mine but your telling of the trying to get a sample while child is trying to unlock the door made me chuckle.. I can remember them days and as mad and chaotic as it is I actually miss it 😂 terrible timing for you to feel extra lousy as well as little one being sick too.

Dee51121 · 19/11/2025 14:21

@Niknak8493 thank you, I have everything crossed! Haha, yes I suspect I will look back at this time fondly when I'm older and recount anecdotes like that. What was the gap between your? When I saw the GP on Monday he did tell me I was "naughty" for getting pregnant already as I ended up having a c section last time so waiting 18-24 months is recommended. If this is a viable pregnancy, this one will be due just a couple of weeks after my daughter's 2nd birthday. I keep having a few doubts about the age gap!

RJF89 · 19/11/2025 15:36

@Dee51121 hopefully the scan on Tuesday is positive and the antibiotics help!

I had my dating scan today, so despite knowing I was earlier than they thought, all the guides said 11-14 weeks for it, but the sonographer said they like to do the dating and NT measurement at at least 11 weeks 4 days, and it's measuring 11+1 (1 day gained since the early scan so I've possibly moved from a due date of the 10/6 to 9/6). As we're abroad next week I'm booked back in for the 3rd, quite happy I'm getting a bonus scan 😅 All looking good otherwise and it was mad to see it trying to do somersaults!

Niknak8493 · 19/11/2025 16:07

@Dee51121the age gap with mine was 3 years and 9months. I found it to be the perfect age gap for me at the time. They are now 21 and 17 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 the amount of people saying ‘why are you starting again, are you mad?’ 😂 and honestly I think I might be but I’m very maternal so I think I will cope just fine 😂 I will say I’m running around more now for the two I have than I ever was when they was little in terms of being a taxi and food requests for dinner 😂 I can’t tempt them with a little bit of picky bits if I was feeling a little under the weather like last time and they work different hours so I’m cooking meals at different times and different meals more in a day 😂 the routine with younger ones seemed more chill. (One has learning difficulties and the other autism or I’d be making them cook for themselves 😂)

DesertSnow · 19/11/2025 16:26

@Katie2908 Thank you for your kind words about my dad. I'm sorry you went through that. My dad left his estate split unequally between his four children and it's causing quite the drama. I just want to grieve quietly. I hope your niece is doing ok?

@Pregnantera I'm also on a sex ban because of my bleeding but quite happy about that as the last thing I feel right now is sexy 😅I'll share the pregnancy at some point when it feels more appropriate. My maternity leggings are just from Shein but super comfy - I wore them long after I gave birth to my daughter.

@Dee51121 I'm glad you're being treated for the infection, and glad they found a reason for it all. Yep, I'm managing my wilful 27 month old and it's so much harder this time round just because of that. It must have been terrible but I couldn't help but smile at your description of you trying to get a urine sample with toddler in tow 😊Also I really think there is no perfect age gap, and you just can't predict what it will be like for your individual family. We wanted a 3 year age gap so will be close to that, but who knows if that's a good gap!

@RJF89 Congrats on the scan, and how lovely you'll get to see them again

I'm meant to be having my booking in appointment tomorrow at 11+1 which already feels super late, and they called me today to cancel. They said they might be able to see me next week but can't guarantee it. I'm a bit worried as I'll be 12 weeks next week and I know I'm Rhesus negative so if the baby is positive I need to know so need to get the blood tests. I also had a breakdown after my daughter was born and was really hoping for some mental health support this pregnancy, but it all feels rather late. Also a more minor point perhaps but pregnancy makes my asthma worse and because they've not given me the exemption form yet (last time it was at my booking appointment at 8 weeks) I'm shelling out for my inhalers. I just feel a little bit forgotten about by the system!

Nosejug · 19/11/2025 16:44

hello everyone, I had avoided joining a big due group as I've had to bow out a couple of times before, but I've gotten the furthest with this pregnancy so far. I've had a little read through the last couple of pages to get to know some voices - I know it was a while ago but I enjoyed reading other's experiences of holding their breath when opening the fridge door, didn't know I wasn't alone!

I've also had some bleeding but it's cleared up for now, a scan at 6+5 showed a hematoma so hopefully it was part of that resolving, another scan tomorrow. Also advised not to have sex, plus I had an operation on my cervix 2 years ago so hopefully it'll not be too damaged if I make it into 2nd and 3rd.

Anyway, thought I'd say hello and hopefully I'll be luckily enough to be here for the whole hog!

Niknak8493 · 19/11/2025 16:58

@DesertSnowim so sorry it’s taking them so long to see you! I feel you on the asthma thing. I was lucky to have my booking in appointment this week at 8weeks 1day. That’s very frustrating that they cancelled last minute. Are they aware of the rhesus negative issue? I would probably be tempted to call the midwife’s and just explain your concern see if that will push them to get you your appointment asap x

Niknak8493 · 19/11/2025 17:16

Welcome @Nosejugi know what you mean, I’ve suffered two miscarriages so have also had to bow out a few times in groups or pregnancy apps. I hope everything looks like it’s clearing up and progressing in your scan tomorrow 😊 I joined the group because I have nobody I can talk about this stuff with as I’ve not told anyone…. Well I told my mum last Saturday because I was due to visit her the next day (we live far apart) she definitely would have been able to tell as my belly is so bloated I can’t pass it as anything else 😂 but I’m still not chatty with her because of past experiences. I will feel much more relaxed when I hit the 12 weeks mark. Don’t be a stranger come and update and chat as and when you can 😊

RJF89 · 19/11/2025 18:06

Welcome @Nosejug! Fingers crossed we're all here for the long haul 🤞🏻 I hope your scan tomorrow is positive 💓

Pregnantera · 19/11/2025 18:09

@Dee51121 i’m so pleased you’ve been re-booked for a scan and fingers crossed this time you get to see the heartbeat and get the re-assurance you need. Sounds like the google review was worth doing! Sorry to hear about the UTI, hopefully the antibiotics get you feeling better soon.

@RJF89 lucky you getting an extra scan!! So pleased for you that you got to see baby doing somersaults, that’s so lovely. Amazing how much they have progressed since the early scans isn’t it!

@DesertSnow I’m definitely not feeling sexy either so not fussed right now haha. Will give Shein a try then, thanks for the recommendation. I always worry when the price is good things might be see through.
Can’t believe how late your booking appointment is; mine was at 8 weeks. They did get me access to some CBT which I started last week as I have bad anxiety and that puts me at risk for postnatal depression. I am sure they will get it in place quickly for you when you finally get to see the midwife.

@Nosejug welcome to the group and congratulations! I still can’t open the fridge door haha! Welcome to the no sex club too. I am sure you will be with us the whole journey now.

Newhere1993 · 19/11/2025 19:09

@Dee51121 yes I also have a now 11 month old and also had a similar experience of trying to give a urine sample for a UTI with a very active and mobile lb.
Definitely feeling it more the second time round having a toddler as well and finding myself feeling guilty for being less active/present and I definitely feel my tolerance levels are down 🙈 Hope you start to feel a bit better UTI's are awful let alone with pregnancy and sickness!

I have a complete memory block and forgot to ask I have had the booking appointment now 9 weeks do I get a letter through about date/time for my first scan?

Summer022 · 20/11/2025 13:01

@RJF89 Excellent news about your scan!

Any one else have theirs coming up? Mine is tomorrow morning. Anyone else get major anxiety the morning of the scan?

Niknak8493 · 20/11/2025 13:04

I haven’t had a date for my scan yet. Hoping I get it before Christmas. I’ll be 12 weeks on 13th of December so hoping to get my scan the week after (week before Xmas) don’t want to have to wait till after

Nosejug · 20/11/2025 13:27

thanks for the lovely welcomes! I'm pleased to report that I'm still in the group! 8+6 today and saw a little baby's shape and it did some wriggling! Can't believe it! I never thought I'd get to be the one writing that. I said the F word twice and kept apologising hah (I never usually swear?!) my head was floating. I woke up at three to wait for it, so pretty tired now.

Hematoma still there but not grown at least, and she said it was at the back of the sac and apparently that's good (or better). I hope my body just absorbs the rest as I don't really want more bleeding, obviously hah.

ManifestSunshine · 20/11/2025 13:55

Hello all. Sorry I've been a bit quiet. I started vomiting at 5+3 and am still vomiting at 11+0 so I've been in survival mode. Even the Tesco Click and Collect lady told me I looked dreadful. I haven't had any further bleeding since my last scan at 7+6. Got my 12 week scan next week, feeling a bit nervous about that.
