@RJF89yes the relief I felt was amazing! I didn’t even give her a chance to confirm the heartbeat I said there’s a heartbeat! 😂 people always think I’m crazy at scans but unless you have been and not seen one they won’t understand the feeling seeing it all going how it should. I’ll start worrying again tomorrow I’m sure 😂 a week isn’t too long! I bet you’re super excited! I’ve got my booking appointment with midwife Monday so I’m excited for that now I know so far so good.

RJF89 · 12/11/2025 19:02

@Niknak8493 I'm crossing everything that it's another happy scan 🤞🏻 I still haven't thrown up (sorry everyone who's suffering with this 🙈), and my nausea has been better since yesterday, so obviously the worry is there but my boobs are still a bit sore, still have food aversions, still tired, so I'm hoping it's just the placenta taking over and hormones are getting under control 🤞🏻 I had a mini pizza for lunch and I'm normally a big garlic mayo fan so it was reassuring that I still only wanted tomato sauce 😅 Not long until your booking appointment!

Niknak8493 · 12/11/2025 19:43

Haha yes! When you don’t want something you usually love it’s reassuring. I’m pretty much off everything I like these days. I’m living off blackcurrant juice, fruit and cereal. Forcing myself to eat veg and meat as ans when I can.

RJF89 · 12/11/2025 21:32

I had a smoothie at 8pm tonight as I realised I hadn't eaten any fruit or veg today 😅 Meat has been something I have actually wanted more than usual, but I didn't have any today.

Ooooh! A smoothie sounds great!

I went on holiday last week and had 3 really great days where I ate at all the right times and drank all the right things (I think my favourite squash might be a big trigger for nausea and trapped wind) then I rode in the back of the car for the first time in a long time and had to ask FIL to pull over 10mins from our destination so I could be sick. It's taken me a week to feel balanced again!

I have my scan in 12 days time and I can't wait! I cant wait to see our little babe and then to finally tell DS and the rest of the family our news!

Dee51121 · 14/11/2025 22:04

Hey, I was catching up with the posts since I Iast posted on here a couple of weeks ago. I mentioned I'd had a small amount of pinkish bleeding, but that stopped after a couple of days so I've been feeling more positive since then. Thought I was having pregnancy sickness/nausea at one point but turned out to be a stomach bug 🙃
Rightly or wrongly, I went for a private early reassurance scan earlier today. I had one during my last pregnancy, and I did find it quite reassuring, but this time I went to a different clinic that's closer by. Turns out they don't have a licence to do internal scans and when they did the external ultrasound the sonographer could see a sac but nothing else. He tried to reassure me that I'm measuring around 6 weeks and it may just be too early - this partly did reassure me as I know in my first pregnancy I was measuring several days/a week behind up to 13 weeks - but I'm meant to be 7 weeks 4 days, so it does seem quite a bit behind and I usually have pretty regular periods. Keep reading posts about blighted ovums now. Not sure what's best to do, I don't really want to fork out £75 for another private scan if it's going to be bad news. But also don't really want to wait til my 12 week one. Arghh I really don't like this first trimester stage.

Wishing everyone else who is struggling with symptoms all the best, hopefully they start to improve as you get nearer to the second trimester.

Niknak8493 · 14/11/2025 22:16

Hi @Dee51121 you could always call early pregnancy unit and explain to them the pink and ask for a reassurance scan. In my last pregnancy I went to A&E who referred me and I got a scan a few days later. Failing that even contact your gp explain your concerns and ask for a blood tests if the levels are low they may refer you to early pregnancy unit. I know it’s easier said than done but try not to worry too much. I wouldn’t go pay for another one privately though, they are so expensive x

Dee51121 · 14/11/2025 22:22

@Niknak8493 thank you - I think I will try contacting my GP surgery on Monday and go from there

Niknak8493 · 14/11/2025 22:26

I hope everything goes well and you come back with a great update! I would say just a bit of pinkish and nothing since is a good sign to me and I hope to hear good things from you soon x

RJF89 · 15/11/2025 11:45

@CremeEggsForBreakfast I definitely find eating little and often helps the nausea, I think it's almost gone now but maybe that's just because I'm mostly doing that. Food aversions also seem to be going, just hoping it's the placenta taking over and all is good on Wednesday's scan 🤞🏻 Still knackered though 😅

@Dee51121 Fingers crossed you can get a scan, I've seen a lot on the news about private sonography clinics since I got my early private scan and I have to admit I didn't realise they weren't qualified radiographers with the add on sonography qualification so be reassured by their lack of training! Definitely a good sign that the pink stopped and there was no red!

Summer022 · 15/11/2025 12:43

@Dee51121 my friend had almost this exact situation, luckily the scan company offered her a free rescan two weeks later and it showed everything perfectly, it was just that little bit too early to see anything abdominally. Got my fingers crossed for you!

I have my 12 week scan on Friday, I have quite bad scan anxiety as my first baby had growth restriction (unexplained but they think the placenta started to fail at about 36 weeks). I’m feeling very nervous but equally desperate to see a healthy little one bouncing around in there. Fingers crossed x

Pregnantera · 15/11/2025 17:32

@Dee51121 They say it’s hard to detect a heartbeat before 8 weeks on an ultra sound so it could be ok yet but I can understand why this is causing you some anxiety. I also heard some bad news reports about the private scan clinics and is the reason I decided against booking in the end, they charge a lot and it if they are not qualified could be offering bad information. I would try speaking with your midwife and see if there is any chance of an early scan with the NHS - you need reassurance at this point. Fingers crossed for you.

SummerSolstice25 · 16/11/2025 12:29

I had a scan at 7 + 2 (Thursday) and everything was perfect, I was so relieved as I’d had no nausea or tiredness. On Friday I had lower back pain on and off (I was at a function wearing high heels) and yesterday and today the only symptom I did have from the beginning was swollen/tender boobs, has completely disappeared. They don’t even hurt when I squeeze them. So now I’m anxious all over again that something has happened. It’s so difficult when I’ve not been pregnant before and have nothing to compare it to. Has anyone else had their sore boobs disappear so quickly and have everything end up ok? 🙏

SummerLover89 · 16/11/2025 13:30

@SummerSolstice25 my boobs didn't get a bit sore until about 8 weeks and then it comes and goes, some days for a bit especially in evening and then some days not. Haven't had many symptoms at all and very intermittent, but all looked fine at a 9w4 day scan

Katie2908 · 16/11/2025 17:10

Hi guys sorry for going quiet. I've had a horrendous few weeks. My niece ended up in hospital and now has lukemia. And I ended up in hospital this week for a bad viral infection and was in for 4 days. They scanned baby and baby was ok even did a little dance! It was cute. I have my dating scan in 2 weeks and im excited to tell our families.

@SummerSolstice25yes. My sore boobs have completely gone. But to be honest im thankful!

Pregnantera · 16/11/2025 18:09

@SummerSolstice25 my boobs are on and off with soreness so I wouldn’t worry about that. They were definitely more tender earlier on and the further on I get the more intermittent it is! I know how you feel about being anxious though - I have my moments of panic about it all.

@Katie2908 I am so sorry about your niece, you must be so worried about her. I hope that the doctors are positive about treating her and getting her better! I hate to think of little ones suffering so much.
I’m sorry you’ve not been well too but pleased baby hasn’t been affected and how special to see baby moving around like that. I have one week to go to the dating scan now!

Has anyone started looking at maternity clothing yet? I am always thinking ahead and trying to avoid the day I wake up and nothing fits me and want to look and feel as nice as possible whilst pregnant.

Katie2908 · 16/11/2025 20:44

@Pregnanterayes they are confident they can treat. She has hee chemo next week and I've read kids cam lose their hair 3 weeks after first session. I know it seems a bit shallow. But she has lovely blonde hair and im heartbroken.

Funny you mention clothes - im currently looking online. All week I have had indents from my clothes and my t shirt rolling up. Im still not telling people and wearing really oversized clothes. But it has overwhelmed me today!

RJF89 · 16/11/2025 21:15

@Katie2908 Hopefully the treatment is successful and not too tough for her 💓

@SummerSolstice25 my boobs have been the same as Pregnantera, definitely not much discomfort anymore! And to reassure you more one of our friends just announced that she's due end of March, so obviously I asked how her symptoms have been as mine haven't been too bad, and despite being type 1 diabetic all she's had is tiredness.

@Pregnantera I've already got some bundles of maternity leggings from Vinted as I've already gained at least a dress size from my nausea nibbling 😅 I've got a few normal pairs that are stretchy enough for now but I've already had to stop wearing a couple of others that 8 weeks ago were falling down if I wore them on walks 🙈

SummerSolstice25 · 16/11/2025 21:46

Thanks everyone. I felt so good after the scan on Thursday and then with my back aching and my sore boobs disappearing I was straight back into anxiety again. Maybe I just need to chill out 😅
@Katie2908 treatment is amazing but it is a long road. I know two families who have been through it with their little ones and all the kids themselves felt was a lack of energy, it was almost tougher on the parents than on them.

Pregnantera · 16/11/2025 22:57

@Katie2908 thank goodness the doctors are confident. And children are incredibly resilient, much better than us adults. The hair part the worst, my Mum had cancer 10 years ago and I remember the day her hair started falling out but hair will grow back.
I don’t want to spend a fortune on clothes I will wear for less than a year and also knowing I will need to buy a full wardrobe. New Look has a sale on maternity clothes at the moment so might try a few bits from there.

@RJF89 with how sick I’ve been I lost over a stone so I have got away with it until now. I still have abs on a morning but by evening I can see a roundness to my tummy that wasn’t there before so I know it’s coming soon. I worry most about workwear and looking smartly dressed when I’m in the office, it’s the kind of place where my joggers and leggings won’t be suitable.

Pryceosh1987 · 16/11/2025 23:51

I hope your baby arrives well.

chequeredcushion · 17/11/2025 09:17

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well, just caught up with the thread. I’ve not been posting much because I feel like a fraud this time round as I don’t have the worst symptoms. Just insane hunger and a bit more tired than usual. Oh and zero sex drive, I feel really mean on my husband but he’s taking it well bless him.

Got my 12 week scan early Dec, I want to tell close family now because I need to ensure the GPs don’t book a hol during June as I need them to look after my first. Husband is doing my nut in because he wants to wait and make more of a big deal of it with it being nearly Christmas. But it’s stressing me out because I will only leave my 1st with the GPs so if they’re not there I’m giving birth without dad. I don’t get why he doesn’t get it but it’s pissing me off!

RJF89 · 17/11/2025 14:23

@Pregnantera I bought some work trousers in a size up when I first found out but I was already getting the urge to unbutton them when I was in the office on Friday 😅 I was going to go in this afternoon in a smartish long wool dress and tights but I nearly fainted at the end of a 30min meeting 😱 I have a standing desk and haven't been using it much because it makes me feel nauseous but I thought I was ok until the end of the meeting when I started feeling nauseous and my vision went. I turned off my camera and mic and sat on the floor, took off my tights as I was hot, and luckily the meeting finished a minute later 😅 I went through to our bedroom and shouted my husband to come through and take the dress off I was wearing as I was sweaty (😂) and he got me chocolate hobnobs and water and I felt better after 5 minutes. I had cucumber as a mid morning snack instead of something sweet and I think that was a contributor so I'm back on the chocolate 😅

@chequeredcushion I told my husband that the sex drive can increase in the second trimester and a couple of weeks later he asked when "the horny trimester starts" 😂 CAN increase, we'll see 😂
I actually wanted to tell my family on 20th December when we visit for a family meal (they're 4 hours away) and they're all together but my husband said that was a long time, and I agree now and it will be nice to be able to talk about it in person once they've had the surprise a few weeks before. I told my mum when she visited a couple of weekends ago and then I called my dad who had stayed home. Going to tell my brothers when we're past the 12 week mark and back from holiday in 13 days. My nephew is almost 3 months old and I told him when I met him at almost 5 weeks old but I know he'll not have told anyone 😂 My mother-in-law was supposed to be going away at the start of June but she was having issues with accomodation so pulled out.

Sorry I always seem to write essays 😶

chequeredcushion · 17/11/2025 14:58

@RJF89 I am hoping it increases in the 2nd trimester because I want to enjoy it again before it’s off the menu for a while after birth 😂 but I just cannot bring myself to do it at the moment!

Aw that is so sweet about telling your little nephew, I’m sure he’s kept it quiet 😆 I’m just ready to tell people now, the first time around I was so ill I wasn’t feeling burdened with secrecy because I was preoccupied with just getting through the day, but this time, apart from worrying about arrangements for my first, I just want to get it off my chest and make it more real I guess.

I totally forgot how hot I was in my first pregnancy, I remember siding with the menopausal women in the office over the aircon last time when usually I would have heaters on under my desk. Pregnancy is wild.

RJF89 · 17/11/2025 15:08

@chequeredcushion I'm the same, would love to but I'm either bloated, nauseous, or thinking the thrush is back 😂

You could pretend to faint in front of the GPs and then confess you're pregnant not ill with something else 😅

That's the only time I've been hot and I can't wait for this baby to warm me up, I'm in Scotland and we generally have the heating at 18 but I've been boosting it to 19 as a treat 😂
