I feel so sick, I’ve had to isolate myself too so feel like I’m losing the plot a little 😂 the bloating is so much that I’m scared if anyone sees me they will figure out I’m pregnant. Luckily my family live a good hour and a half way so I’m making excuses up to not see them and they aren’t questioning it. It’s annoying too because my mum just got the cutest kitten and I really want to squeeze it but it will have to wait 😂 got my first booking in appointment in two weeks. I held off my self referral but my boyfriend said it’s better to do it than not incase it slows down getting our scan, didn’t expect to get a text the next day though. My anxiety is up because this is around the same time things started to go wrong last time so I’m trying to keep busy and not think too much. Luckily I’m sleeping a lot and that keeps my mind of it. The fridge smell is the same for me. I’m living off fruit at the moment and forcing myself to eat meat here and there. I’ve gone off the smell of my boyfriends aftershave, I don’t have the heart to tell him he smells repulsive to me right now 😂 and smell is definitely stronger than ever, I feel like I can smell everything

Summer022 · 05/11/2025 14:21

Reaaaally struggling with the heightened smell. The smell of my own house makes me feel so sick and gag - how am I supposed to live here 😂 My poor toddler keeps seeing me being sick as when it’s just me looking after him, he follows me everywhere bless him. Feel so guilty even tho I know it doesn’t last long 😭

Niknak8493 · 05/11/2025 14:33

My children think I’m crazy. Any time I say I feel sick they remind me it’s self inflicted 😂😂 I’m a older mum this time round too so all this feels so much more intense this time 😂 my children are 21 and 17 thinking it’s hilarious.

RJF89 · 05/11/2025 14:45

@SummerSolstice25 the sickness hasn't hit me yet and I'm 9 weeks today, nausea most of the time but if I eat little and often it's not awful. I think it started after 6 weeks. Tiredness and constipation are my other symptoms 😅 Everyone is different, my sister-in-law just wanted more cheese than usual at first and that was her only symptom! My mum said nausea hit with me at 8 weeks and then full blown bedridden sickness for weeks 10-12 so it could still hit me, although this was before ultrasounds and I was allegedly 2 weeks early so I'm sceptical on dates! She didn't have nausea or sickness with my brothers but there doesn't seem to be any science to back up boys being easier pregnancies.

@sparklerr I think there have been at least 2 people on here who have had flu/COVID since finding out but if you've kept your temperature normal that's good, hopefully it's just pregnancy symptoms that have started today! I think it's a bigger risk having flu/COVID when you're further along because lung capacity is reduced so the risk of pneumonia is higher, but still uncommon.

SummerSolstice25 · 05/11/2025 15:15

@RJF89 i have no nausea whatsoever, not that I’m looking forward to getting it or anything but just a little sign to know it’s still there would be a relief. I have large tender boobs but that could be from the progesterone, and I’m also very tired today but not to the point that I couldn’t go out for a walk or anything!

RJF89 · 05/11/2025 16:33

@SummerSolstice25 My boobs have definitely got much less sore, so don't panic if that goes! The tiredness is definitely a symptom so be reassured by that 🙂 Your hormones haven't peaked yet so time will tell what else, if anything, they bring!

Pregnantera · 05/11/2025 17:48

@Niknak8493 i’m addicted to fruit and fruit juice too - why is that? I can’t cope with eating meat unless it’s chopped up real small and hidden in something else like a pasta sauce. Luckily my husband isn’t smelling too bad yet but I find even clean washing or reed diffusers too much.

@Summer022 as soon as I walk in the house I gag! I keep it clean and tidy but it’s still smelly, I had my Mum round to sniff test the house as didn’t trust my husband’s judgement on the matter. Apparently I am losing the plot!

Niknak8493 · 05/11/2025 17:50

@Pregnantera yeah I’m ether eating fruit or pasta in some sort of sause. No idea why they are the only things appealing 😂

Pregnantera · 05/11/2025 18:27

@Niknak8493 why can’t I crave chocolate or cake instead?

Summer022 · 05/11/2025 19:48

@Pregnantera I’m so glad you said that! It’s nice to know I’m not alone 😂 My husband doesn’t get it at all so I’m just looking like a weirdo gagging in every room in the house!

Pregnantera · 05/11/2025 21:43

@Summer022 I wish for one day men could experience what we go through as women then they would understand.

Niknak8493 · 06/11/2025 11:28

My boyfriend thinks I’m exaggerating 😂. I’ve been pregnant 5 times and even with the two that went full term I’ve never felt this sick ever. I literally can’t function.

Summer022 · 06/11/2025 15:35

The worst part is I think I’m traumatising my 2 year old. He’s having to sit and listen to mummy be sick all the time & I feel like such a rubbish mum 🙁

Niknak8493 · 06/11/2025 20:09

Awwww @Summer022 I promise if you ask him if he remembers that when he’s older he really won’t. My eldest was almost 4 when I had my second and she can’t remember anything from me being pregnant apart from when she used to sing to him through my belly 😂 hopefully the sickness eases after the 12 week mark and your 2 year old won’t have to see it anymore x

RJF89 · 06/11/2025 21:36

@Summer022 he will soon forget, my first words after Mum and Dad were 'Sam' (my brother born 16 months after me) and 'sick' so I must have seen a lot of it and have no memory of it 😅

HellnoH20 · 08/11/2025 06:52

Please can I join? This is my third baby, although feels like the first as my children are 15 & 13!
Had my booking appointment yesterday, due on 11th June so am around 9+3

Symptoms are feeling tired ALL THE TIME , a bit of nausea but mostly heightened sense of smell to everything! Everything smells so wrong I can’t explain it lol.
I also am craving everything sweet, cakes, sweets, you name it. But then when I have them there is no joy, it’s very odd!
Have my first scan in a few weeks and can’t wait!

Does anyone else have older children who do not know yet? I’m nervous to tell them!

Niknak8493 · 08/11/2025 07:31

Hello and welcome @HellnoH20 I’m also pregnant with my third, my two are 21 and 17 so the age gap is huge for me 😂 I’ve already told mine just because I’ve got history of miscarriages so I’m obviously extra cautious in the early weeks (lifting heavy stuff and things like that) so told them so they can help me or be understanding if I’m not feeling too great 😊 I was nervous to tell them but they was pretty chill. My son did say ‘you do know that by the time that child is my age I’ll be in my 30’s’ 😂 yes son I was aware that I’m starting again lol! I’ve pretty much had the same symptoms as you. Everything turns my stomach. I don’t enjoy even the food I can tolerate, i usually love my food 😂 my boobs feel like they have weights in them too and my nipples are on fire. Don’t think I’ve suffered like that in past pregnancies until I’d given birth lol. I’m only 7 weeks and my clothes are already feeling tight.

DesertSnow · 08/11/2025 22:12

Thanks everyone for kind words about my dad. It's been pretty horrible.

Lovely to see some newcomers, congratulations all.

Food is so challenging isn't it? I feel like I have to eat so much more to keep myself from being more sick and I mostly just want crisps and salt! I've completely gone off chocolate which is exactly the same as when I was pregnant with my now toddler.

My booking appointment isn't until I'm 11+1 which feels very late especially after significant mental health problems I had last time postpartum, but I called them up and they said they had nothing earlier.

My work is very intense this moment and we just had our busiest week of the year, which between grief and symptoms was a real struggle. I'd like to ask for some time off but not sure how that would be received.

@SummerSolstice25 This time sickness hit at around 6 weeks, but when I was pregnant with my daughter it didn't hit me till about 7 and a half weeks. My cousin is just out of the first trimester and she had no sickness whatsoever, so it definitely can happen. Another friend had no sickness or symptoms the whole way through.

@sparklerr Sorry to hear you've been poorly with Covid, yep unfortunately our immune systems take a real battering while pregnant so you'll definitely have felt it more.

We told my husband's family today and had this cute little reveal planned and it was a bit underwhelming today because it turns out one of his brothers had suspected and had gone and told everyone else that I was probably pregnant. So no one was surprised and it was all a bit underwhelming in the end. It wasn't like we'd been planning a massive surprise, just we wanted to tell them all together. It's ok but it feels like a bit of magic was taken away from it tbh.

RJF89 · 09/11/2025 10:36

@DesertSnow Make sure you put yourself first and take time off if you need to, even without being pregnant I'd totally understand if a colleague needed time off after a bereavement. Sorry your reveal was underwhelming too 😔 We told our mum's on Friday and mine was totally shocked (we hadn't told anyone we weren't going to adopt like we talked about a couple of years ago in case that still ended up being the case). My mother-in-law said straight away that she guessed (my husband has been terrible at covering up) so tbh this was a better reaction than I thought as I expected her to be the hysterical one.

Niknak8493 · 10/11/2025 16:57

So yesterday I was at my worst so far for sickness but today I’ve not felt as sick, I’m fully aware that it fluctuates and I won’t want to throw up all day everyday but it really does make my anxiety pick up when I’m not showing as many symptoms. I’m seeing so many people getting early scans with nhs is they’ve had a miscarriage. I don’t understand why I’m not getting that opportunity. Got first midwife appointment next Monday so I will try my luck. If not I’ll have to pay for a private one 😊

Pregnantera · 10/11/2025 17:51

@Niknak8493 I felt better on Saturday and then yesterday was probably the worst day ever sickness wise. It pushed me so close to the edge of despair. Today a little better but probably back to the normal sickness level I was getting accustomed to. I need it to stop, I’m feeling so isolated. All I do is work and come home and hibernate. I find my anxiety is the opposite to yours where the sickness makes me anxious, and I’m feeling afraid of being sick in front of people and making a scene.
I got an early scan because of the bleed I had a few weeks ago. I always say it’s worth an ask though, if you don’t ask you don’t get.
I’ve got 2 weeks to wait now for the 12 week scan.

Nelly1023 · 10/11/2025 17:59

@DesertSnow I’m so so sorry for your loss that must be horrific to go through especially whilst pregnant. Sending you lots of love.

I haven’t been very present in the thread, ill be 7 weeks tomorrow and the sickness has hit. I feel awful but not been sick yet. I’m terrified though because I had awful HG with my first and lost over a stone, was completely miserable, was sick over 20 times a day and would even wake up to be sick. With my second I was never sick just nausea so I’m hoping for the same this time but you never know. Even the nausea is horrible with 2 kids to look after - the school run was hell this morning!

hope everyone who is suffering is okay and has lots of support, lean on everyone you can during this time - and if you’re struggling to keep anything down please ask your GP for anti sickness, it honestly saved my life with my first and really helped with my second.

Summer022 · 11/11/2025 13:03

Sorry to hear there is lots of us struggling with sickness and exhaustion. I’m still in the pits and I’m 11 weeks 3 days - hoping it eases soon. 12 week scan is next Friday and I’m starting to feel really anxious about it. I have been calm up until now, but the more I think about it the more I worry.

Niknak8493 · 12/11/2025 18:39

I caved and booked a last minute scan. I’m so glad I did. I saw a heartbeat they said it was a strong one. Everything looks healthy. And I’m measuring a little bigger my original date was 27th June and they gave me 22nd June today. It’s made me relax a little till my 12 week scan 😊

RJF89 · 12/11/2025 18:47

@Niknak8493 yay for the heartbeat 💓 So pleased for you, hopefully you can relax a bit more now before the next scan. I've got my NHS one a week today so I'm on the countdown!
