How early did you go into labour NATURALLY with your FIRST baby??

Now I know that this is a guessing game but I'm just at that curious stage.

I watched a TV Programme last night whereby a woman gave birth at 30 weeks (I'm 30 weeks!)

Just wondering, assuming all ok, when did you give birth naturally??

Obviously, the longer I can keep this baby in, the better!!

40+8. I just knew I was going to go overdue - and I was right

Haylstones · 02/06/2008 14:02

On my due date . Both times actually...
Prepare yourself to be late though!

belgo · 02/06/2008 14:02

At 40+1 weeks! Just 12 hours after due date.

cmotdibbler · 02/06/2008 14:04

41+1. Thought DD1 was never going to come.

slinkiemalinki · 02/06/2008 14:05

My waters went at 38+5 but things were too slow - I needed a bit of help (pessary) but then went like a rocket.
I was quite enjoying wandering round having yoga classes/massages/swimming/lunch and was expecting to go over so it was all a bit of a shock she came early!

Katelyn · 02/06/2008 14:06

I am the most impatient person in the world so am definitely preparing myself for a late one....

Chequers - oooh, last ten weeks exciting isn't it??

My dd came a week early according to edd, wasn't expecting that with a first.
Had only started my maternity leave the week before.

39+1

georgiemama · 02/06/2008 14:07

40 + 8. First babies are usually late, although it may comfort you if worrying either way (prem or late) that 90% of babies are born within 14 days of the due date.

Tutter · 02/06/2008 14:07

39+4

scorpio1 · 02/06/2008 14:08

39+3

labour 12 hours

Ellbell · 02/06/2008 14:08

dd2 was my first labour as I'd had to have an elective section with dd1. She was born at 37 + 5.

Chequers - what scares you? I'm a fairly laid back person and everyone keeps asking me if I'm worried about the birth and I'm really not...either I won't be or it'll hit me like a ton of bricks over the next few weeks!!

38+6

Medowflowers · 02/06/2008 14:10

ds1 waters broke at 35 weeks . after a couple of nights in hospital - no labor, sent home, daily monitoring no labor. Labor started naturally at 36 weeks

ds2 40 + 8.

Get a manicure + pedicure while you wait. Get bright coloured nail varninsh 'cos once baby is here thats it! Hands in water all the time = not perfectly manicured nails.

MissusH · 02/06/2008 14:11

39+1
9h from first hint of contraction to baby
piece of piss

be prepared to be late, then it comes as a lovely surprise - I'd saved the latest Harry Potter as a due-date treat in case (eventually read it during marathon bf sessions)

MehgaLegs · 02/06/2008 14:13

41+2 they day before I was due to be induced.

Hoonette · 02/06/2008 14:13

Same as MissusH, 39 weeks exactly.

Was doing loads of walking and positive thinking in a desperate attempt to make baby come - no idea if it helped but I was so glad!

oooggs · 02/06/2008 14:15

ds1 - waters went at 36 weeks and he was born 24 hours later.

ShowOfHands · 02/06/2008 14:20

Please try not to get hung up on being 'late'. Anything up to 42 weeks is a normal pregnancy, some just take longer than others. I was probably exactly the same as you, desperate not to be overdue (8 months during a heatwave!) but agonising over it is only going to make it worse. The baby will come when it's ready.

Good luck, have a healthy birth and I look forward to hearing about it in 10 weeks or so!

PS Beggar orf with your 'piece of piss' MrsBadger
