Oh wow @Sunshinemoom bet you weren’t expecting that when you woke up this morning! Hopefully you’re in the best place in case you are the 1 in 6 though.

I have been spurred on to put maternity pads in the shopping basket. Should get on to hospital bags at some point but other than that I think/hope we’re all set for baby

On the subject of maternity pads, my hospital bag checklist that I got from the hospital says maternity pads (non plastic backed) - I always thought the plastic helped stop soakage?

@RealTealQueen @Sunshinemoom you're right about the nursery, we really just need to paint it and remove the spikes from the walls the last owners left. Don't ask. I don't really have any clothes for her yet either so I'll get some babygrows I think :)
Hoping to get a "travel system" in the black Friday sales.

Hey @Sunshinemoom just nipped on before I went to bed and just seen your post didn’t expect to see this. I’m in an incompetent cervix group and I’ve seen loads of ladies have the positive test but they go and make it to full term. It’s just as well you got checked isn’t it. You are at a good gestation and you’ve had your steroids. Have they said what they will do about removing your stitch? have you been admitted thinking of you and baby.
Had my appt today. Cervix is 2.8cm so they happy with that but baby is on 10th centile so having growth scans and a little worrying but hoping that’s just baby. Thinking of you sweet xxx

I wasn’t expecting it at all. I’m on a short cervix page and I’ve seen the same. Some people it’s happened quickly, others it’s happened in a couple of weeks. Others have made it to full term. I’m hoping that’s the case for me. I am having contractions when I’m on the monitor. And had some brown discharge which they not sure if blood. They more worried my contractions are with lower back ache as well. Yeah got my next steroids tomorrow so at least will help baby. And they have a bed for him in neonatal if he does come early. So if waters go, or have any bleeds or contractions get worse. Then I will go for my c section and they take the stitch out the same time. I’m happy on your cervix length. You must feel relived. Hope your growth scans go well as well! If they follow the 10th centile and blood flow looks good etc could just have a small baby. Thank you so much. Thinking of you as well xxx

@Sunshinemoom there’s a really high chance you will go longer, you’ve done amazing to get this far what they said to me was see every day as a bonus. The dr said to me today the reason they won’t measure the stitch anymore is because they can’t do anything if things start to happen anyway. I hope you can get a decent nights sleep in hospital it’s fab they have a cot there for you ready. Apparently 1 in 10 babies are born before 37 weeks that’s so many more than I thought. You take care sweet and try have a nice sleep. Xxx have they mentioned giving u nifedipine to slow the contractions x

I hope so 🤞🏾 yeah if I hadn’t had the stitch in he would have come a lot earlier, every new day is one step closer. That makes sense. Nothing else they can do now to prevent it happening. Haven’t slept the best. Baby being active and had pains in between. I never knew it was that high statics. No they haven’t mentioned nifedipine, literally on a monitor and wait. If baby starts to make appearance or waters go etc then they proceeding ahead with labour. Xx

Just finished my 30w check up with the GP. Said blood pressure is a little high and a small amount of protein in my urine but as I am feeling fine and no other symptoms it is just something to keep an eye on. Got to hear baby’s heartbeat with the Doppler and he said all sounds well.

Sunshinemoom · 06/11/2025 14:20

Wasn’t expecting to be told today if I go into labour they recommend me to have vaginal birth to help babies lungs over c section. They have scanned me and he’s very low head down. Now got to decide what I would like to do.

Definitely keep eye on it. The last 3 urine samples had high proteins and slightly raised BP. Better to keep eye on it. Happy you got to hear baby heartbeat as well!

I think thats to help push the muscus out his lungs and hes coming down the birth canal with c section babies they can have a bit still xx

Yeah that’s what they were explaining would help get the mucus out his lungs so he have less respiratory problems when he’s born.

I think I’m just nervous from my previous birth the issues I had with his birth. But if it will help baby I will give it a try. Been told I’m labour I’ll also go on magnesium drip for his brain and antibiotics xx

Gizmo1983 · 06/11/2025 14:35

@Sunshinemoom hmmm i suppose if that’s what’s going to help his lungs then maybe that would be best, ive had 2 friends have preemies recently both were due to them stop growing and they both had c sections but that’s probably due to the babies being poorly. It’s up to you really as it’s it’s your body and your baby you also have had the steroids so they will massively help his lungs xxx

Yeah they did say I could do either it’s my choice regardless but they did say recommend vaginal birth. Yeah they did say if I was closer to term it be c section regardless and currently he’s not poorly just coming early possibly.

they were hoping to send me hope today but pains ramped up, looks like I’ve had some of mucus plug go and I’ve started to be sick so not going home to at least tomorrow/saturday.

yeah had second dose of steroids now! Xxx

Gizmo1983 · 06/11/2025 15:15

@Sunshinemoom it sounds like things are definitely ramping up rather than settling down doesn’t it, well done to you for going in yesterday it just shows doesn’t it? You definitely need to stay put in the hospital for now I’m guessing things could move quite quickly.
I know it’s early but you have done so well to get this far. 28 weeks was my goal and then 32 after that and u are so close my dr always gave me those 2 numbers as goals to reach and you’ve got your steroids in now as well so if hes coming then you’ve done everything right.
let them know if you feel the stitch pulling as u dont want it to tear your cervix xxx

Yeah looks like he wants to come and not stay put. In the right place if he does come. Had a FaceTime with my little boy earlier which cheered me up. Even though he keeps saying the baby needs to come now as he’s excited. Yeah. I was counting down 24-26-28-30. I think I would have relaxed at 32 weeks. But we nearly made it and we still could make it. Yeah I’ve done everything I’ve been able to do at least. Yeah I will do. If I get any pain down below. I’ll tell them straight away xxx

Sunshinemoom · 06/11/2025 18:23

They put me back on progesterone suppositories until at least 34 weeks if he stays put

Gizmo1983 · 06/11/2025 19:19

@Sunshinemoom i bet it meant the world to talk to your little boy lol bless him just wanting his little brother to be here. Great you have a plan if he decides he wants to arrive and a plan if he stays put, the progesterone may just stabilise things. Fantastic they have given you the magnesium as well. How are you feeling now in yourself can they give you anything for the sickness. I lost my mucus plug before and it regenerated it’s pretty good at that apparently xxx

Jadeypie · 07/11/2025 11:07

Yea will defo keep an eye on it. He recommended getting an at home BP testing kit but I know this would just make me anxious and have me checking it all the time which would not do my BP any good

No lightning crotch so far but my right nipple (only ever the right one) keeps randomly feeling like it’s burning. Burning so bad it brings tears to my eyes and is what I imagine holding a lighter up to your skin would feel like. Have yet to find something to sooth it other than waiting it out. Proper horrid.

Have had two successful breastfeeding journeys and hope to do the same with this baby but this is a completely new one for me.

Yeah it really made the difference. Yeah I’m hoping it’d stabilises everything. They just my cervix again and it’s still long thankfully. But we had to swab if my waters are going. If they are stitch is out. And magnesium will start. Yeah I’ve been taking my anti sickness and they gave me PRN anti sickness as well which helped! Yeah they said it can regenerate xx
