Hi, I am nervous even making this thread, like it is too soon to be on the pregnancy chat, but I am not telling anyone in real life, so I feel like it would be nice to have somewhere to talk about things with anyone who would like to join me 🙂.

We started ttc this baby in September 2022, I had a mmc in December 2022 then another in August 2023, then for the past 2 years we have been ttc without success, but I just got my positive test on Wednesday!
I can't believe it, I am obviously very happy and grateful but also extremely anxious.

Sorry guys! I have been so awfully quiet because the sickness really got me and I actually felt quite down about it, I was rotten!
But I had my 12 week scan and couple days ago and everything looks great! Measuring almost a week ahead and very wriggly baby. Feels so much more real now and quite a shock considering what we went through before having our first.
Hope everyone else is ok? Glad to be going into tri 2!

HollyGolightly4 · 16/11/2025 21:26

Great to hear that about your scan @Babydust25 ! Although sorry you've been feeling rotten.

I've been having cramps tonight and just had a panicky wobble, but I'm trying to take yoga breaths 🤣

Pryceosh1987 · 17/11/2025 00:43

Congratulations, your at the start of a big journey, which leads to a child with great parents.

Ladyinpink1 · 17/11/2025 13:09

@Babydust25 That's understandable, I felt the same while I had nausea, that coupled with the anxiety of another loss made me feel quite depressed each day, hoping you are starting to feel better now?
Great news about your scan! Will you book another one between now and your 20 week one or wait for it? x

@HollyGolightly4 Aw the cramps are so anoying aren't they. It instantly makes you worry but actually I suppose they are a good thing. Are yours like period type cramps? x

I am 16 weeks today, I have my first midwife appointment where they listen to the heartbeat and then on Friday I have been given a consultant appointment which a midwife told me possibly would include a scan, it was booked as an automatic appointment in my trust for pregnancies after loss so not sure what to expect.

I have decided if everything goes ok with today and Friday, I am going to try and feel some more joy about this pregnancy as I still feel so guarded and not connected to it all.

How is everyone else doing? x

Hey @Ladyinpink1exciting about your 16 week appointment. Good that you know that you'll hear the heartbeat. I'm in the process of being referred to a different trust so I'm not even sure when my 16 week appt will be or what it will involve...currently 14 weeks.

I like the idea of deciding to be more positive. I decided that after my 12 week scan I was going to make a real effort to try and enjoy this more. Has it worked?? No 😂 ...but we have shared the news with some close friends/family, I browsed the baby clothes in a shop the other day and also allowed myself to talk a little about the future... all things I couldn't of done a few weeks ago. All steps in the right direction I think.

What a pain. Hopefully you find out more within the next week. Aww that's nice that you were able to take a next step in feeling a little more like it's real, but it is so tough to be positive isn't it. I think right after a scan or appointment, you feel really good then as the time stretches until the next one then the worry creeps back in.

Yes i'm in the waiting room now and they are already 20 minutes late, my anxiety levels are through the roof sitting overthinking everything, wondering how I will manage if they can't find the heartbeat, which is giving me really bad anxious tummy, which is in turn giving me bad wind (trying to hold it in in a waiting room full of people is awful, i just took a discreet walk down a corridoor 😂) xx

Could anyone help me with progesterone? My letter from my consultant says stop taking at 14 weeks (I'm 14 weeks today) I've been taking it for 69 days if that makes a difference 😆 but Nice says 16 weeks. I feel a bit scared about stopping. Anyone any advice?

No I'll wait till my 20 week scan! It's on December 30th which doesn't seem that far away with Christmas and everything happening!

Hey! I stopped my progesterone at 12 weeks which was when I was told to stop by my fertility clinic. I was nervous too but I'm now 15 + 3 and so far so good. It's definitely scary stopping as it becomes a bit of a safety blanket. How did you get on?

HollyGolightly4 · 25/11/2025 06:36

I decided that the dating scan put me 14 weeks on Sunday to take them till then, then I had 3 days left so thought that seemed sensible just to take them!

Ladyinpink1 · 06/12/2025 08:07

Hi everyone, I know the thread has been pretty quiet, I assume that if everyone has felt similar to myself, then this may be due to the terrible anxiety these pregnancies after loss have seemed to bring.

How is everyone doing? Where are you all now in your pregnancy?

I am 18w+5d, and the anxiety has changed, a different set of worries.
I am also now really struggling to connect with the pregnancy. I had a gender/wellbeing check last weekend and my placenta is to the front so I am not feeling any proper movement yet. Really hoping that changes soon as I think that would bring more reasurrance and connection to feel kicks. Has anyone else got movent yet? xx

HollyGolightly4 · 06/12/2025 09:28

Hey, I'm 16 weeks on Sunday. I had a midwife appointment yesterday and was absolutely gutted, because she said it was too early to hear the heartbeat (most likely, she did offer to check, but thought it'd be worse if she couldn't find it). I have my 20 week scan on the 9th Jan, but I'd pinned my hopes on hearing the heartbeat before Christmas as reassurance. I've felt generally quite well in myself.

Hopingrae · 06/12/2025 14:20

@Ladyinpink1 so sorry you're feeling that way. I can completely relate. For my pregnancy with my DS2, which was after 2 consecutive losses, I found pregnancy yoga helped me connect with my pregnancy more than anything else did. I found out he was a boy around 16 weeks and I found the visualisation and breathing exercises at classes were really beneficial for connecting, more so than I was expecting. I know different things work for different people but I just wanted to share in case it's helpful. Lack of feelable movements won't help I'm sure like you say, hopefully in a couple of weeks or so it'll pick up a bit for you. I'm currently 18+2 with DD1 and apparently have an anterior high placenta. I've felt flutters lower down every so often but no definitive kicks or jabs yet. I'm looking forward to that coming at some point soon too. Sending positive vibes your way x

Ladyinpink1 · 06/12/2025 15:46

@HollyGolightly4 Glad you feel well. That is exactly what happened to me! My last post on here I was at my 16 week app, well all she did was basic checks, no heartbeat. That sort of sent me on an anxious spiral because I was so built up for it. How are you feeling today about it? Would you consider a home doppler? That's what I did and I found the HB quite quickly (still really low down) and it helped. Do you have a scan booked anytime soon? xo

@Hopingrae Congratulations, we are very similar timing wise and with our dc. Mine is also dd1 (and I have 2 ds already), what age are your ds? Sorry your placenta is in the way too. Of all the times we needed the reasurrance of movement, this pregnancy was it.
Thank you for the suggestion, I am open to trying anything. I will research classes in my area. x

Hopingrae · 06/12/2025 18:25

@Ladyinpink1 congrats to you too on DD1. I was so convinced I'd be having another boy, it took me a while to get my head round! My boys are currently nearly 4 (in 10 days!) and nearly 14 months. How old are yours? We wanted a third and I'm 41 so we thought we should crack on. Before DS2 I'd had 3 losses all together, then dd1 was straight after ds2, so feel humbly very fortunate as this was definitely our last try, I couldn't face any more losses.

Ladyinpink1 · 07/12/2025 15:10

@Hopingrae Oh lovely, they will all be good friends together. Are you a bit nervous about number 3?
After my 2nd mc, it took quite a while to concieve this one, so mine are now 8 and 5. I was the same, we were all so sure that it was a boy, my 2 dc were calling the baby "he" for ages. I asked sonographer to double check and she said she wouldn't say unless she was certain, even now i'm not 100% sure that she didnt get it wrong.

@Ladyinpink1 my 20 week scan is booked in for the 9th Jan, so really not that far away now, but I'd built up to hearing the heartbeat. I think I made the right call in not having her look for it! I've never heard of a home Doppler, I'm off to have a look at that now.

Hope you get some changes to the positioning of your placenta ❣️

Ladyinpink1 · 07/12/2025 21:21

@HollyGolightly4 that's not too long to wait. It's a lovely milestone to be at when you get to that scan.
Yes i got it off Gumtree but it's originally from Amazon. x

CloudyIvy55 · 07/12/2025 22:37

Hey @HollyGolightly4 completely understand you not wanting to listen for the heartbeat just in case your midwife couldn't hear it. I was also nervous my midwife wouldn't find it and was going to turn down her offer but in the end I took it and she found it quite quickly! Hoping the wait to your 20 week scan goes quickly. Its strange how some midwives will or won't listen at 16 weeks.

This might be tmi....but I forgot to ask my midwife at my appointment. Throughout my whole pregnancy I've had the tiniest tiniest light pink vaginal spotting after a bowel movement. Google says most likely a sensitive cervix - anyone else had similar?

HFH40 · 08/12/2025 07:48

I’m not sure I’ve posted on this thread yet. I’m 16 weeks, and got my midwife appointment on Wednesday, 20 week scan in January. I was anticipating hearing the heartbeat as I remember it at my last 16 week appointment when it was so bittersweet (we were fairly confident the baby had Edwards but still waiting for it to be 100% confirmed with the amnio).
This was also our last shot at a third child (we’d given ourselves to the end of the year) Previous baby was born (with Edwards) at 20 weeks in January 2024, and it’s taken a long time with more losses on the way to get to here. That all being said I feel remarkably relaxed so far (much more so than with my son - no 2 who was also after losses), but then worry that that in itself is bad, as if anything does happen it will completely knock the wind out of me because I’m not expecting it!
@Ladyinpink1we sound very similar, my dd is 8, my ds is 5 and I’m 42 (and feeling really old for this!) I don’t think we’re finding out the sex, but haven’t made my mind up yet.
This is the first time of my three longer pregnancies that my placenta has been anterior, so hoping that helps feel things earlier. I’ve felt a few flutters but it’s that stage where you can’t be 100% sure it’s the baby.
Wishing you all well, I’ve been lurking on the thread for a while and reading all the comment has been reassuring. Just so good to know I’m not alone!

Ladyinpink1 · 09/12/2025 05:58

Hi @CloudyIvy55 I haven't had this, sorry. But I have definitely seen on here ppl saying about getting this after sex, bm's etc, I assume as you said from having a sensitive cervix. Were you on progestrone? I know it can cause it too.
Hopefully it stops as your pregnancy goes on. x

@HFH40 I'm very sorry for your previous losses, I can only imagine how awful that was at such a late stage. It's so good you are relaxed now though and having a smooth pregnancy, congratulations on this pregnancy. Hoping your placenta being in a good position will give you more movement and reasurrance very soon.
I get a feeling of sort of rolling pressure and I did feel sone very light taps the last few days, it made me realise just how reasurring and bonding it will be when the movements are regular and strong. How do your other dc feel about it? Although this wasnt the age gap we planned because of losses and a long time to concieve this one, I quite like the gap now x

@CloudyIvy55i had spotting after bowel movements, day or two after sex etc and sometimes for no reason all the way through my first pregnancy. Super common after bowel movement though!x

Kirsty198511 · 10/12/2025 08:39

Morning!

Sorry I’ve not been on here for a while. Juggling work / children and a naughty dog who still thinks he’s a puppy at times! 🫣

I hope everyone’s journey is going well. I’ve realised I’ve been doing something really stupid…

I’m 11 weeks pregnant and have just realised I’ve only been taking the omega-3 capsule from Pregnacare Plus, and not the actual multivitamin tablet with the folic acid 🤦‍♀️
I’ve now started taking both properly, but feeling a bit worried especially because of my age (40) Has anyone else done this? What did your midwife say?

I’ve sent a message through Badger Notes but I’m not sure how quickly they respond or how it works, so thought I’d ask here in the meantime. x

CloudyIvy55 · 10/12/2025 09:43

@solis25 thank you so much for you reply! Although I've heard it's common it's reassuring to know that someone else has experienced it also!

CloudyIvy55 · 05/03/2026 06:27

Hey everyone! Just thought I'd check back in now we are two months away!! I found this thread so helpful in the earlier weeks.

How's everyone doing? I'm 30 weeks tomorrow and I can't believe it! 🥰🤰🥳
