Hi ladies and to those who have recently joined!
Im 8 weeks today and nausea has 100% come back!!! Hoping it's just an off day for it lol. Also feeling really apprehensive as I was 8 weeks in May when we had our MC. However at least this time we have seen a heartbeat so im holding on to that but 12 week scan still seems so long away! Booking appt is next week so will get scan date then.
How's everyone feeling symtom wise? I can not get enough sleep!!! Don't remember being this exhausted with my daughters but that was 7 years ago and im now in a much more physical job then i was. Anyway hope everyone doing ok xxxxxx

Hello, I posted in the other May thread, I didn’t see this one, so I’ll post here too!
I'm still very much in shock. Not exactly planned and feeling very emotional. I don't even know where to start. Last year, on Christmas eve of all days, I had a miscarriage of my very unexpected but very much wanted baby. Think going through the menopause (at an early age, but that's another story) and find out you're pregnant shock. Baby was very very wanted. After the miscarriage we decided we needed to be more careful. We have 7 children between us (blended family, 4 mine 3 his, all here full time without any other involvement). We were very much in the mindset of - the youngest is now 8, logically we don't really want to go back to nappies and sleepless nights. 8 is a lot of children in one house. We have been so careful ever since, a baby would be loved and very much wanted, but just not on the cards for us. Practically it’s crazy and absolutely, not a sensible thing to do.
So…After several symptoms, thinking I’m loosing the plot I tested and it was positive?! I genuinely cant believe it. I have no idea how this happened (I mean, I know how this happens, just not when or how this has managed to get through the defenses and did I mention menopause?!)
4 of the children are mine biologically and its my 13th pregnancy. I'm high risk, I've lost at every stage and have been put on strict bed in previous pregnancies.
I'm scared, excited, nervous, confused, sad, angry, happy all in one and I don't know if I know how to have another baby! I'm 38 and I feel too old for this! (Probably because i had my previous babies in my 20's! I’m aware 38 is not too old to have a baby…is it?!)

LunarBear · 30/09/2025 09:18

@lionfairyhopefully being 38 is not too old as im also 38 however this is my first sk going into the unknown 🤣

brightandbeautiful89 · 30/09/2025 09:48

@tillybud89my nausea was terrible last night and I al also sleeping for England - think 10 hours at night plus a 2 hour daytime nap! I am feeling very anxious. I have had weekly scans up until this point for reassurance. I’m trying to hold off going for one this week but it’s hard, I’m so worried about things going wrong xx

Im due 9th may and my first antenatal booking is this week!
:)

The waiting list must be much longer in Edinburgh. That's so exciting for you through!

Hi everyone and welcome to some new names! Congratulations! I am still feeling like roadkill in pretty much all ways (bar headaches which I am delighted about as a normal migraine sufferer!) but am trying to lean into it as it does feel like the corner (if not the light!) may hopefully now be in sight. I will be 10 weeks on Friday. Just something about double digits?! Not sure when will go for my next scan after my 8-week one. Currently thinking maybe next week at nearly 11 weeks as my first NHS one is at 13. Going to wait to do the combined screening for the trisomies with them too as hard as it is! Seriously majorly desperately hoping the rumours of the 2nd trimester being a lot easier than the 1st are true because the thought of months more feeling like this is pure horror! I knew pregnancy would be hard but was not prepared for how demoralising feeling unwell for a prolonged period can be. Obviously I am lucky not to have experienced that before. Sending solidarity to everyone else in the trenches!

Are you taking private scans? Is that option available to all? This is my 1st pregnancy and I'm overwhelmed by information and acronyms. Is it the 1st ultrasound scan where they offer the combined screening?

Morning. Yeah totally get you on sleep. Although I can not get comfy at night at all. Already got numerous pillows around me but im tossing and turning constantly then wake up feeling like my hips and back are killing me.
Ah bless you, i get that. Goijh from my 6 week scan to my 12 week scan does feel like so long away. Im just going off that the nausea and hunger is still there/boobs seem huge and hurt and still extremely irritable lol so long as all those hormones still strong then things should be ok xxxx

Floomobal · 03/10/2025 18:50

I’m feeling absolutely awful! I’ve had spotting/bleeding for a couple of weeks which really stressed me out. I was referred to the Early pregnant unit at our local hospital, expecting the worst. But we saw a little heartbeat, and the sonographer put me at 9 weeks rather than the 8 I thought… so I’m a week further than I thought, and relieved to have seen a heartbeat

brightandbeautiful89 · 03/10/2025 20:03

My symptoms - well nausea at least - seems to be easing a bit at 9w3d. I feel quite worried about it. I still have food aversions but the nausea is coming and going and I’m not sure if this is normal or to be expected. So hard not knowing what’s going on!

Floomobal · 03/10/2025 20:29

From everything I’ve read, it seems totally normal to have the nausea come and go. A lot of people stress when the nausea goes, and then when it comes back, they wish they’d enjoyed the few days without nausea!

It’s just worrying not knowing what’s going on for so long. Really stressful.

brightandbeautiful89 · 03/10/2025 20:38

@Floomobalyes and even symptoms don’t guarantee everything is ok. It’s such a minefield. I’ve been on Google all evening and I need to stop it, it’s making my anxiety so much worse. My friend told me some people buy scanning machines for their own personal use and I am half considering it 😂 I just want to know that everything is ok

BlondeAutumnGirl · 03/10/2025 20:41

I had the same panic at the start of this week - all symptoms gone. And now I seem to get them at certain times of day.

brightandbeautiful89 · 03/10/2025 21:28

@BlondeAutumnGirlit’s weird isn’t it? I used to feel sick in the evenings whereas now it tends to be in the middle of the night?? I’m tired all the time, not sure if that’s a pregnancy symptom or anxiety keeping me awake 😅

BlondeAutumnGirl · 04/10/2025 11:06

I have an actual time-table at the moment.
5:30 - wake up for work feeling like I had too much prosecco with the girls and too little sleep 🤣
7:30 - queasy! And everyone on public transport is conspiring against me by wearing too much perfume etc
11:30 - another round of 🤢🤢
18:00 - get ready for bed - boobs are so itchy I want to cut them off
20:30 - can barely keep my eyes open. I'm conked out by 9pm
3:30 - wake up for a wee, boobs are killing me and I'm hotter than the sun and need to put the fan on

Crazy!

BlondeAutumnGirl · 04/10/2025 11:08

@brightandbeautiful89tiredness is the most common symptom. My mum said it was like no tiredness she had ever experienced before.

HannahChats · 04/10/2025 11:32

My anxiety has somewhat eased reading this. I had some light bleeding this morning but as its the weekend they won't see me until Monday. I've got everything crossed but needless to say I am very anxious. Its hard not to expect the worst.

BlondeAutumnGirl · 04/10/2025 11:48

@HannahChatsFirst for me too. I had a lot of ivf with my ex husband a few years back but none of it was successful - it kind of worked once only to miscarry 4 days later. My anxiety is often on the ceiling so I completely sympathise.

brightandbeautiful89 · 05/10/2025 10:53

@HannahChatsim right there with you with the anxiety. I’ve booked a private scan for this afternoon because I’m so worried about lack of symptoms. It’s an absolutely awful time. Sending you hugs

Judgejudysno1fan · 05/10/2025 12:18

Ive had my first booking , just there on friday. Bmi isn't great but ive lost 1.5kilo in 6 days from not eating well as just feeling so nauseous and sick all the time. Literally,I wake up so thirsty like I haven't drank in 5 years. I eat twice a day if that and cant manage it all due to lack of appetiteand feeling sick even after eating my favorite foods.

Because of bmi I was given a double folic acid dosage as well.
First scan is near the end of this month. cant wait!!!! With 6 kids already im hoping to see a single pregnancy and not quadruplets! Hahaha!

How is everyone else doing??

Yeah I have had the same too. Random spotting here and there. But it could be implantation bleeding as they say. Wishing you all the best and all my love 💓

sellotape12 · 05/10/2025 12:20

Nodding vigorously to all these posts. I’m now 11 weeks, so end of April/1st week of May. I’m also really demoralised about how ill I feel. It’s been 50 days now of retching, Uber smell sensitivity and tiredness like nothing else. At weekends I’m napping at noon and then I’m fully in bed asleep by 9:30. This is after nodding off on the sofa around 8:40. I’m also incredibly grumpy and even though my husband is doing everything I’m just being awful to everyone. I haven’t even made it outside today and it’s a beautiful sunny day. Scan tomorrow which is why I’m also grump + anxious. Gosh, I hope the second trimester is better!

magpie234 · 05/10/2025 12:55

@sellotape12 Solidarity! I feel the same. Typing this from my bed where I have been all morning looking out at the sunny day. I so hope our second trimesters are kinder to us! Best of luck for your scan. Mine got booked for 13 weeks so I still have 3 weeks to wait 😒
