Wondering if anyone has got a positive recently and would be due late April / Early May 2026? ✨

I’m having baby number 4 - due mid May!
Left my job in pharma 3 years ago and am now a doula.
Having a mostly wild pregnancy this time, and of course - homebirth! Can’t wait!

Morning Lovely’s
How is everyone doing? I’ve had an early scan this morning (very early I think I’m literally 5 weeks) as I was having lots of right sided pain. Good news is there is a gestational sack growing in the right place with the start of a yolk sack. And the surprise was a second smaller potential gestational sack 🤣
We are going back again in 2 weeks to hopefully see heartbeat and see if the second sack has grown as potentially there may be two babies 👶👶

NatalieSF · 18/09/2025 13:09

Hey everyone 👋🏼 congratulations 🎉

I got my bfp yesterday at 9dpo. I had a 34 week loss in February so very nervous. This is pregnancy number 7 and hopefully baby number 5 ♥️ due on May 31st atm but i expect it to change at my scan as my babies always grow small but I will also be induced at 37 weeks so currently it's a gamble between May and June 😂

Congratulations! Amazing news!!!!

I am TTC cycle 2 - we've already agreed on a homebirth and will be hiring a doula. You guys do amazing work ❤

girlabouthome · 18/09/2025 18:55

Wow @CTTat two babies!!!! Eeek! So exciting

This will be my fourth birth, and third Homebirth!

If anyone is interested in a more holistic pregnancy, I’ve just started a wonderful book called 10 Moons by Jane Hardwick Collings x

CTTat · 18/09/2025 20:21

@girlabouthome I am going to have a look for this book… I had my second and third baby at home both amazing experiences. 🥰

LunaLoo21 · 19/09/2025 11:32

I'm around 4+5 and I have had cramps and bad bloating since around 3 weeks. The cramps are quite sharp today like bad period pains and it's worrying me a bit. Is this common or should I be concerned? This is my first pregnancy and it's hard not to worry because I have no idea what to expect! I also suffer from IBS which has also decided to flare up over the last week, so I'm not having the best time! Any wisdom would be appreciated, thanks everyone.

Id love a home birth.i did want one for baby number 6, but thank God we were in hospital as baby was really distressed and ended up in an emergency c section. This time im staying firmly in the hospital.

Question, plesse : do they bring you pain relief to a home birth? Do you call the hospital to come to you once you feel like your contractions are really racking up.

Im 7 weeks tomorrow and have my first midwife booking in 2 weeks. Can't wait for the first scan. This is baby number 7 and im feeling nervous and anxious. If I go for a scan and its like triplets !!!

CTTat · 19/09/2025 13:59

@LunaLoo21 welcome darling ♥️ cramps for me have been normal early on in all of my pregnancies. There’s a lot going on down there so could also be triggering your IBS.

@Judgejudysno1fan they bring gas and air for a home birth (well they did 8 years ago that was my last one!) I was a little shocked at my scan yesterday when they saw a second sack… one more would be baby number 4 for me I wasn’t expecting potentially 4&5 🤣

Hi ladies. So had my scan today! All my nausea/sore boobs etc has been worth it! Baby measuring exactly right with a lovely 💓 i was a blubbering mess as last time I lay on that exact bed was to be told I had MC. Due date now 12th May which also happens to be my birthday!! Xxx

Congratulations!! I am completely terrified for my first scan after having a mmc in May with my first pregnancy. Couldn’t cope with being told the same again 😢

I generally call the hospital as labour starts and just let them know, I’ll update them as things progress so that they have time to consider staffing, etc.

I would also have called my Doula the minute things start happening so that she can be on call, for example, losing my mucus plug, waters breaking, mild contractions.

The best things about homebirth,
❤️ Most likely to receive continuity of care (Proven to give you and baby better outcomes) as the home birth teams are quite small and so you will know who will be with you at the birth

❤️ you get two midwives with you birth at home one for you and one for the baby, so a much better level of care rather than just being on ward and passed around

❤️ Gas and air available, but most importantly a birth pool, that you can get into at any time and isn’t dependent on, it being available or deemed appropriate

❤️ Not coming into contact with hospital level superbugs, for me or my newborn

❤️ The birth being family centred and my children not seeing me as “sick” or having something wrong with me

❤️ The champagne and pizza in bed afterwards - not the crap NHS toast everyone bangs on about

❤️ And obviously the fact that it’s generally safer than a hospital birth

The majority of times the distress caused to the baby is the doing of the hospital, and so there’s no way I would be stepping foot back in there - the latest Maternity Services report shows just how bad the state of affairs is now with most maternity trusts being deemed inadequate.

This is great but it is ultimately a personal decision. Always best to make your decision with the support of a health care team who will advise based on the risk level of your pregnancy.
Birth complications can happen and sometimes it's safer to be near a qualified and experienced team. Eg anaesthetist and crash team in the same building x

girlabouthome · 19/09/2025 16:58

Totally a personal decision.

But birth is a normal physiological event.

Typically the “system” causes the problems.

I’ve seen now almost 60 births, and I’ve had enough experience to look for evidence based care.

sellotape12 · 20/09/2025 13:10

Week 9 is kicking my ass. The worst yet. Very grateful to be pregnant but absolutely hating the first trimester. The nausea is off the scale, I’m in a fog all the time. I’m moody like I have permanent PMS and I just can’t even play with my toddler or do any housework. I’m hoping it peaks this week and next and then gets better towards week 11–12. Anyone else feeling awful?

(Also realised I’m due end of April not May but oh well 😂!)

magpie234 · 20/09/2025 14:35

@sellotape12 Oh no! I am 8+1 so in my 9th week (is that the same as you?) and just settling down for my nap which will probably be 3hrs long again. But… Xonvea from the GP has helped a lot with my nausea! I still get waves of it mainly when it starts wearing off and it has made me more sleepy. Still got no appetite at all. But overall def worth it for me so may be worth asking about? Really hope you start feeling better soon. I am the same as you… so grateful to finally be preg but hating the experience so far. I just feel so very far from myself. I am also so anxious about something going wrong and having to go back to square one especially after the first trimester doom!

sellotape12 · 20/09/2025 16:45

@magpie234 yes yes this all of that last sentence. I don’t feel like me at all. I don’t even know who I am. I really want to get the Xoneva but GP already put me on promethazine which is doing nothing but making me want to sleep 10 hours, which is obvs impossible with a toddler whose body clock is a 6:30am wake.
Out of interest how do you know that you’re 8+ one? I noticed people here putting quite detailed descriptions of how far along they are. At my EPAU scan they only estimated and it was bracketed (“about 5-6 weeks as an estimate”)
hope you’ve got a nice cup of tea and a packet of ginger biscuits on the way!

magpie234 · 20/09/2025 23:28

@sellotape12 Oh because I did ivf and had a transfer of a 5-day-old embryo on a specific day. Tbf Xonvea is also a sedative so I am extra drowsy but hoping I get used to it. Def worth going back to the GP if yours is doing nothing for you. My first one (Cyclizine) did nothing for me. Ditto with the tea and ginger biccies!

brightandbeautiful89 · 23/09/2025 17:25

I am feeling so sick and tired - sleeping 10 hours a night and still needing naps, only able to eat bland food. It’s starting to get me down. It’s my friend’s hen weekend this weekend and I genuinely don’t know how I will make it through. Any tips? Early pregnancy is so lonely - feeling so unwell and having to put a brave face on

BlondeAutumnGirl · 23/09/2025 17:40

Me! Got a positive test this morning 😮

Aw hun I totally feel you!! Im still either really nauseas or absolutely starving!!! Im having naps most days and really struggling with my night shifts. Roll on week 12 and hopefully this can all start to pass! Xx

magpie234 · 23/09/2025 18:12

@brightandbeautiful89 Solidarity from me too! How far along are you now? I am 8 and a half weeks and I cannot belieeeeeeve how long this first trimester is feeling. Totally endless. No tips for the hen… feeling how I am now I would regrettably have to bail or let her know if a close friend and only join for a bit of it?

brightandbeautiful89 · 23/09/2025 18:25

@magpie234im 8 weeks. So tempted to bail but it’s my best friend and she’s spent a lot of money hiring a house for it. And then I’ve got the wedding to get through 2 weeks later. Really dreading it all

magpie234 · 23/09/2025 19:24

@brightandbeautiful89 Oh damn! Have you told her? Maybe that would help to take some pressure off you. So she understands if you need to head to bed earlier etc? Best of luck!

JJ1992 · 23/09/2025 20:09

Turned 6 weeks on Saturday and the last 2 days I feel like I'm walking through cement! Returned to work today after annual leave and I could barely focus - it was quite an easy day as well !
Anxious for what's to come . Also having awful bloating / painful gas which probably isn't helping the fuzzy head.
I feel like people around me need to know why I have completely changed suddenly 😂 like you say it's so lonely in first trimester. I feel bad for my partner getting all my gripes.
Currently having a bath to ease the pain and planning another early night 😂👍
