100% a panic buy hahaha. And I know bless him.

Ive just got my results back from the combined screening and its low risk. Also just had a referral to another hospital for the prem team (due to my heart shaped womb) but that lands on my 16 week midwife appointment so need to re arrange that. Why do all appointments always fall on the same day hahs xx

Good news about your low risk results. I feel like you go from having no appointments to seeing them loads. Hopefully they’ll be able to rearrange it fairly quickly.

Who arranges the pregnancy vaccines now? Is it still done through your midwife or are we supposed to book them ourselves now? X

Jadeypie · 15/07/2025 12:05

@WanderWalker i thought the midwife sports it out, im sure we don't get them till after 20 weeks im planning on asking her xx

I have had a text from the GP to say that I can book my vaccinations straight through them

Thegirlhasnamechanged · 15/07/2025 14:27

Combined screening came back as low risk and my GTT has just come back as passed. Now just to wait another 10ish weeks to retake it… can’t wait! Cannot stand the glucose drink.

@WanderWalker my midwife said that you can get them done at the hospital after your 20 week scan but I’m planning on having mine at the GP.

Omg the mood swings are real! I cried the other day because my husband wouldn’t bring me a mochi ball from the freezer and again on the Sunday for no real reason. He gave me a gift at the weekend probably out of fear 🤣 I keep saying to him though - I am taking one for the team!!!! Remember this ladies!

Hello mamas-to-be! Just wanted to placemark here - I'm expecting my second in early January. Totally unplanned but very happy about it. We have a 2 year old so a little nervous about her and how she'll adjust. Other than that, luckily symptoms have been ok so far.

The hormones have made me far more emotional than usual and I'm finding it tricky to be as tolerant as I usually am with DD. I also had a cry the other day because I watched a ladybird struggle to get out of a groove outside on the car (I was driving) and by the time I'd reached my destination, it had died.

12 week scan was an experience - 40 mins to get a measurement due to the fact I’ve a tilted uterus. I advised them at the start id likely need an internal and I’m fine with that, midwive was adamant she would be able to get one without doing an internal. 25 mins of digging into my stomach without success she agrees internal required. Off she went to find a Dr to do the internal. She arrived, zero bedside manners didn’t even introduce herself, also proceeded to dig into my stomach - again, unsuccessful. She then proceeded to start the internal, without asking me to empty my bladder..felt like I was going to pee myself on the bed. Had to stop the internal, get redressed and go for a pee, then start again. Another 10 mins of prodding around, finally got the measurements, however scan photos are pretty crappy - cannot make out anything in any of the pictures.

Here is hoping the next scan is a bit more pleasant.

Previous baby was IUGR(slow growth, likely due to placental insufficiency) so they have prescribed aspirin from now til end of pregnancy. Anyone else any experience of this? Looks like I will be consultant led from 28 weeks and have opted for elective caesarian again.

Not for IUGR but I’ve been on aspirin since 12 weeks (up until 36 I think they said) this time and touch wood have had no issues so far. Although they did prescribe me the one that you dissolve in water and it’s vile.

Oh god, let’s hope it’s just a tablet! I’m having trouble keeping things I like down never mind something rotten! 😂

WanderWalker · 16/07/2025 16:00

Thanks all for the advice on the vaccinations 😊 I had my 16 week midwife appointment today and she confirmed we have to just book them ourselves now either with your GP or hospital. She said they can do whooping cough from 16wks, but my GP has refused and booked me in once I’m over 20wks. I think she said the RSV one is over 28wks.

They don’t listen to babies heartbeat at the 16wk appointment as standard anymore as apparently it was causing too many people to be unnecessarily referred to hospital when they couldn't find it. Just a heads up to anyone wanting to hear it though, I asked my midwife and she did it for me as long as I understood they might not be able to find it and couldn’t refer me anywhere if they couldn’t located it.

We heard a nice strong heartbeat 😊 so for anyone wanting to hear the heartbeat it’s worth just asking 😊

Some people defo shouldn’t be in positions of care with that sort of attitude 😓 Sorry you had such a rubbish experience.

Hopefully you will have a much better experience for your 20week scan x

Thank you. Though the midwife who did the rest of the booking made up for the unpleasant start..she was lovely!

I think we’ll do a 17 week private to know the sex of the baby. NHS won’t write down the sex (assuming incase they get it wrong and there is then evidence of that lol) and we want to find out privately between us rather than with the scanner there.

That’s dreadful! Sorry you went through that. I’m also on aspirin and under consultant care.

Nice staff make all the difference.

There is signs up in our ultrasound dept saying they won’t write the sex down. I think it’s incase they get it wrong too.

We aren’t finding out and it’s already eating me alive not knowing 🤣

I’m finding out so I know whether I need to cart the boxes and boxes of girls clothes from the loft to our new house..very practical reasoning this time 😂 last time, it ate me alive 😂

Moosey898 · 16/07/2025 18:26

Anyone here been consultant led before and know what an appointment at 16 weeks with the consultant involves? I have one booked in but no idea what to expect!

12 days and counting until my next scan - I'll be 16+4 then. And I have my midwife appointment the next day.

Also - anyone else struggling with when to tell work? I was offered a new job basically as I found out I was pregnant... I haven't told them so far (mainly because of my history of loss so it felt pointless to tell them) but I've just read their maternity policy and whilst it won't apply to me as I've not been there long enough, they definitely seem family first - they have good enhanced maternity pay once you've been there a year and full pay paternity for a month too. I am torn - my probation comes up in the 24th week of pregnancy, same time I would legally have to tell them I'm pregnant. And it would be nice to have passed probation but am I being a bit of a dick not telling them sooner?? 🙈

🤣 my friend is the same. She needs to know to get rid of all her daughters ‘clutter’

My boys are older, so their stuff is long gone. I thought I was 2 and done so to be doing it again I am desperate to know if I am going to be even more outnumbered with another boy, but also want a surprise. It’s driving me insane already 🤣

Thegirlhasnamechanged · 16/07/2025 20:05

@Moosey898 I’m under two different consultants and have had 3 appointments so far. With mine they just went over the pregnancy so far, discuss the reasons you’re under consultant, any treatment that you’re on/need to have and mine have asked if I have thought about the preferred birth - lots of waffle about how they would heavily recommend a section at 38/39 weeks but how it is maternal choice

RealTealQueen · 16/07/2025 21:25

@Moosey898 I had my first consultant appointment last week (14 weeks) and it was just the nurse taking my blood pressure, handing over a urine sample, doing the carbon monoxide thing and then a chat with the doctor. She asked about smoking, drinking etc, discussed my weight and my age and sent me on my way after giving me an aspirin prescription. I was only with her about 8 minutes. Total waste of time! 🤣

That sounds so pointless! I did all those test bits with the midwife who comes to my house (I do like that in my area!) so I'm not entirely sure what I'll do with the consultant 😂 I know I want to talk about an elective c section so hopefully that's the right time to bring it up.

@Moosey898 I’m wondering the same thing.. I have mine coming up around 16 weeks too
I don’t have a diagnosis for my recurrent miscarriages (or rather maybe I do but the RMC clinic doctor is on long term sick so I’m still waiting for an appointment) so I’m not sure what they can do for me unless it’s to discuss those results that I’ve been waiting for 🤷🏻‍♀️ all it says on the letter is to take a pee sample but helpfully they haven’t given me any containers 😂

Nynm23 · 17/07/2025 08:15

@Confusedmermaid1 Top tip - lift a handful when you’re at your appointment and keep in your handbag, as they’ll want a sample for every appointment you attend.

peps2917 · 17/07/2025 11:08

Hi all. Has anyone tested positive for strep b?? I have and I am waiting a call from my doctor to get a better understanding of it.

Same! My mum was like ‘just take it in a pop bottle!’ …no mother, no! I just picked one up off the reception desk when I got there and did it straight away. X

Confusedmermaid1 · 17/07/2025 12:02

@Nynm23 @RealTealQueen DH is going to the GP next week so I’ve tasked him with asking for at least 3 😂
