me and my partner have been ttc for a year now, I’m currently four days late but scared to test yet. My cycles can vary by a few days here and there, last month I was 2 days late so don’t want to waste money on tests for it to be negative. I’m also cramping and have sore boobs which is a common pre period symptom for me and in the exact same places I would when I’m due my period (sides and hips) What were your first pregnancy symptoms? In the past I’ve taken a test and my period has shown up an hour later haha. Just want to put it off for as long as I can so I don’t put myself into further disappointment. I have also read that mild cramping can indicate pregnancy? My cramps started the day after my period should have come when usually I get them for three days before, they seem to of died down a little though which I’m feeling crappy about 😂

For 3 pregnancies it was sore boobs from 3-4 days before my period was due. For my most recent one, I was 4 days late and took a test. No other symptoms. The sore boobs came a couple of days later.

Do you have a watch with a heart rate monitor on it? My resting heart rate increased daily before I had any idea I was pregnant. I finally realised when I had a really heightened sense of smell (as I recognised that from first time round) with normal smells making me feel distinctly nauseous.

Chypre · 29/12/2024 17:52

My only symptom that was and still is at 20 weeks - missed period. No cramping/aches/temperature changes/spotting/rashes/nausea/twinges/hinges, nothing. Just no period, positive test and a wriggly baby on ultrasound.

Oh my goodness it’s weird you should say that… the past week I have been thinking there is something wrong with my chest and heart rate, my partner put his watch on me and my heart rate was highish and jumping all over the place. Never thought of that

when I had my first 13 years ago a missed period was my only symptom too! Had nothing else throughout the whole of that pregnancy!

When did they become sore? So funny how everyone is different!

I suddenly went completely off tea (as someone who drinks 3-4 cups a day as I don’t drink coffee) - the smell of tea made me feel sick.

I knew I was pregnant with number 2 as soon as I went off tea, before I did a test!

I’ve seen a lot of posts of women saying they went off tea! How soon was that? Before or after a missed period?

Burping. Proper decent burps!

blackrabbitwhiterabbit · 29/12/2024 18:11

Blue veins on my chest! That's before the nausea and puking.

GlitterDragon · 29/12/2024 18:11

Metalic taste in my mouth.

Mintiie · 29/12/2024 18:13

Mine was a sweet craving before anything else!

ScoobyDoesnt · 29/12/2024 18:15

@Pollypol I am sure it was before with my second, as it was the tea thing that made me test! I think with the first I had no clue, as I’d never been pregnant, and we’d been trying for months.

mlc0 · 29/12/2024 18:15

Never had any symptoms until I hit 6 weeks and HG started

confusednana · 29/12/2024 18:17

for all 3 of mine... i went off tea!, well if i am honest, I went off any type of drink other than bottled water!

and this was before i even tested.. so basically from conception!!

My nipples started tingling

LividBauble · 29/12/2024 18:19

The metallic taste.

And I fell asleep in a daytime cinema screening.

GrimDamnFanjo · 29/12/2024 18:25

My first was a surprise and I was suddenly able to smell a cigarette a very long way away.
For my youngest I had been measuring my cycle. I'm trying to remember but one phase is fixed unless you are pregnant, and mine had always been the same number of days. Then it wasn't because I was pregnant.

Luteal phase!

Justme10 · 29/12/2024 18:31

I was completely exhausted then missed period. I'm one of the lucky ones who didn't have morning sickness.

sel2223 · 29/12/2024 18:32

To be honest, the months when I was symptom spotting and utterly convinced I was pregnant, I wasn't.

The 2 times I have been pregnant, I've felt no different to any other month. It just felt like AF was about to arrive at any moment but never did.

I've then had sore boobs around the time my period was due but no other symptoms until 7 weeks with the first and 5.5 weeks with the second.

So hard not to symptom spot though isn’t it! I do just feel like AF is on route but hoping along with a late period that it’s a baby in there.

I asked exactly this on Mumsnet 13 years ago. I was on holiday and couldn’t get hold of a test for a couple of days.

I was told to have a look at my labia - it can be darker / purplish in early pregnancy. I had a look and it was!

I was indeed pregnant. Currently in a battle with my 12 year old over an untidy bedroom.
