What were your first pregnancy symptoms?

me and my partner have been ttc for a year now, I’m currently four days late but scared to test yet. My cycles can vary by a few days here and there, last month I was 2 days late so don’t want to waste money on tests for it to be negative. I’m also cramping and have sore boobs which is a common pre period symptom for me and in the exact same places I would when I’m due my period (sides and hips) What were your first pregnancy symptoms? In the past I’ve taken a test and my period has shown up an hour later haha. Just want to put it off for as long as I can so I don’t put myself into further disappointment. I have also read that mild cramping can indicate pregnancy? My cramps started the day after my period should have come when usually I get them for three days before, they seem to of died down a little though which I’m feeling crappy about 😂

It's really hard - it took us 4 years to conceive DD2 and I went through it all.

our bodies can play horrible tricks on us can’t they. I’m going to give it tomorrow and then test just to get it out the way.

Coffee! By pregnancy 3 I knew I was pregnant before I even took a test. And a metallic taste in my mouth and water tasting very odd.

Blue-veined boobs for me, then a metallic taste in my mouth and I went off tea. The nausea and vomiting came later 🤢

Baby 1 - I was sooo bloated and thought I might have stomach cancer or ovarian cancer!! It wasn’t a planned pregnancy but I did a test to prove my gp wrong (aha) before making an appt

baby 2 - I was checking all the time as planned baby

baby 3 - dog tired, exhausted could sleep at any moment

Did you get any period like cramps etc?

Burping, indigestion and a metallic taste that made things taste awful. With my first pregnancy, I also had nausea for days before my BFP. Second pregnancy no sickness until about six weeks.

My first, one night I woke up to pee constantly and looked in the mirror and one boob had doubled in size overnight. 😂 took a test that morning. Then week or so later hyperemesis started.

Second pregnancy..no symptoms at all. Mild period cramping around period due date. That was it. No sickness, no sore boobs, they never got bigger at all. If it wasn't for no period I would never of known.

Went off tea
Complete exhaustion and falling asleep by 7pm which is unlike me
Then boobs

My nipples hurt in the shower and lying on my front

Boobs ached, worse than normal pre-period. Period type cramps and a tiny bit of spotting. Off coffee and tea, with hyper sense of smell. Indigestion, and bleeding gums which was weird and happened really early in each of my pregnancies.

Were your period type cramps after you missed your period?

Baby 1 - really sore boobs from about 4 weeks, then sickness increasing from about 5.5 weeks until I was vomiting at least 8 times daily, never felt especially tired

Baby 2 - no sore boobs, nausea and vomiting from 5.5 weeks and worse than with baby one, constipation, exhausted, unable to be in the vicinity of coffee, which I usually love

Baby 3 - same as baby 2, except less sensitive to the smell of coffee and more exhausted (but the exhaustion could be due to the existing babies!)

@Pollypol around the time my period was due and continued for a few days after it was overdue, even after I tested positive

I felt sick constantly, didn't throw up but felt it, and had constant cramps

Both times the elevated heart rate has been
a giveaway for me. The first time round I did a Covid test first as I felt so generally drained and worn out. I only thought to chance a pregnancy test a few days later. Harder to pin point that the 2nd time round when already running round after a toddler!

My earliest symptom was bloating. I was so much more bloated than usual, this was around 3-4 weeks pregnant.

I was hot, it was March so noticeable and my sense of smell was off the scale. I am a coffee addict and couldn’t touch it throughout pregnancy. I remember walking through a shopping centre and having to avoid the cafes and restaurants because I couldn’t stand the smell of coffee. Also walking out of work at the end of the day and being knocked out by the smell of the local Indian takeaway, which is quarter of a mile away.

The sore boobs came later. We weren’t really trying so wasn’t expecting to be pregnant. After multiple miscarriages & fertility treatments we had given up and I was nearly 40. I had that sudden realisation that I was late so was 6 wks before I tested. No squinty lines for me.

First pregnancy sore breasts. I was at the gym on the cross trainer and they were so sensitive and uncomfortable I couldn't finish my workout! I'd never felt anything like it. I went home, tested, and then had a lie down from the shock (took us nearly 4 years ttc).

Second time it was the creeping nausea for no reason. Also very shocked as it was the result of one afternoon quicky (ALL MONTH!!!) on my lunch break, I couldn't believe it given how long the first one took us.

First symptoms aren’t normally immediate and are like period symptoms. The onky way to know is a test. Sorry I know not isn’t what you want to hear but day four most women don’t feel pregnant (yes I know there are exceptions).

Both times I felt like I was walking on that bouncy tarmac stuff they put in kids playgrounds - it’s how I knew I was pregnant with baby no2. Also went totally off meat.

My breasts became sore before I missed a period. As others have said, the smell of coffee, for me, made me extremely nauseous too.

With my first, insomnia. I kept waking at 4am for no reason. I didn’t know it was a pregnancy thing until I mentioned it to a friend who suggested I take a test. Second time was tender boobs and exhaustion I don’t usually get sore boobs before my period so that was unusual for me. Good luck OP
