Pregnancy test

Hello,
I came off my pill end of November and had withdrawal bleed straight after. I have not had a period since this and it’s been over 4 weeks. I did a pregnancy test yesterday and this morning with what looks like a faint blue line. The line appeared after 3 minutes and has stayed. I also did a digital test this morning and it says negative. Is it just to early for the digital clear blue to show?

i wouldn’t trust these tests honestly. they’re useless. try a pink dye test, the ones from poundland/b&m/home bargains are fab

AHBM2020 · 22/12/2024 20:39

As you haven't exactly had a "last period" it's hard to know! The line is thick, which makes me think it's not an evap line; but clear blue is known to be very unreliable. My clearblue tests said I was negative; and well, I'm 5 weeks now. I know it sucks to wait, it took me a week of testing to know I was 100% pregnant. I did a test with first morning urine, and watched as the lines SLOWLY got darker. After a week of this, I'd try a digital test. They're not as sensitive, so you have to be a bit far into the early pregnancy. Homebargains do 3 strip tests for 79p, and a digital one for £3.99. I grabbed a few boxes of the strips and a digital and it was all confirmed in a week :)

I will get some pink tests. Thank you!

These tests are useless. But FWIW I think this looks positive. Looks like my test at 10 dpo.

Thank you! That’s why I’m so unsure as I haven’t had a proper period as of yet. So unsure how late I am. I took the test as thought I would have had one by now and saw a faint on 3 tests. All clear blue tests though so I will go to home bargains tomorrow and get some. Thank you

I also agree; if this was any other test id say positive. But clearblue has mislead so many people!

Rudolphrednosed · 22/12/2024 20:58

This was my test at 10dpo. It’s a clearblue but a slightly different type of test. The line is faint but thick. On evaps the line tends to be thinner.

But I had to redo this on a digital and pink dye test to be sure!

thats why I am thinking as I have only tested with clear blue. I have some first response test ordered and will go and get another few tomorrow. Did you test each day to see if the line got darker? thank you

After I saw that line I bought an early digital test as I was sick of interpreting lines and this said ‘pregnant’ in letters. I didn’t test much after that though. My last pregnancy I had an early scan so didn’t feel I needed to.

ah this is good to see, thank you. I did a digital test and it said negative this morning but the one I uploaded was the line I got from the clear blue standard test. I have done 3 clear blues all with the same thick line which I read after 3 minutes. So I was kind of expecting the digital to confirm however some people have said they aren’t as sensitive the digital ones. I guess I’ll find out in the next few weeks for sure! think it’s difficult as I officially haven’t had a proper period after coming off the pill so unsure how late I am. I think I may be 10 DPO now as that’s when I thought I was ovulating

The digital I did was an ultra early test, not the one that tells you 1 week etc as those are less sensitive. I think the first response tests will work too though.

Ah yes I got the one which tells you weeks. Hoping I can find out in the next week with a few different test types. Thank you

My digital test was also the weeks one, it said not positive. I tried again next day with standard digital test from boots, it also said negative. About just under a week later, I tried again with a home bargains digital test and first urine and it quickly showed "pregnant" :) I'm happy, but was very upset I wasted £15 on that clearblue weeks one for it to be negative 😂😂

Rudolphrednosed · 22/12/2024 21:15

I used this one as an ultra early.

The first test I ever did on my last pregnancy was a cheap Morrisons test, line was so faint DH didn’t believe me so I had to go back out and get this one and wait until the next day.

Just ordered this one. Thank you!

Congratulations!! They are so expensive aren’t they! 😂😂And each test seems to differ to much. think I’m just a little bit in denial it could be positive as I only came off my pill in November and guessed when I was ovulating. Of course I know I really could be but until I see the words “pregnant “ I can’t get excited!

@ava124 honestly I did think getting the positive test would be the least stressful thing about pregnancy 😂 but it did make me really worry! I think a lot of women think, "if I'm pregnant, there should be an immediate dark line!" But that's not true. Everybody's HCG is differnt, some are stronger. Everybody's body's are different :) all you can do is try to be patient and keep testing each morning. Try not to break the bank with name brand expensive tests; they're all the same anyway!

That’s what I said to my husband earlier, I thought it would be crystal clear on the test 😂thanks for all your help. I’ve ordered a few more tests and will get some from home bargains too.

Update: Did my 4th clear blue one this morning ( as I thought why not as only one I had) the line looks a bit more blue today I think? I also went to home bargains on the way to work and did another test and I did the digital one ( I couldn’t help myself with the digital I wanted to see the words 😂) and it said not pregnant! So will try the other pink dye strips tomorrow morning and try a digital in a weeks time. Do you think it’s likely 4 clear blue tests with line darker each time would be a false positive? This picture was taken very shortly after the 3 minutes x

I would suggest buying the strips, and each morning laying them out on a notebook to see if they do get darker. Like the photo I've attached, it makes it eased seeing them next to each other. As you can see, it took a really slow time for mine to get darker and I was riddled with anxiety the whole time! I couldn't have myself either and took like 4 digital tests, all negative 😂 until finally, after a week of testing, it came back positive.

Did your pink dye test end up being faint? Mines come back a line on pink but faint

I really think you are pregnant too, that’s positives on two different tests now.
