😓 anyone had a growth scan and told babies abdomen is too big? Being referred for yet another diabetes test (negative at GTT)
what could it mean - so worried now.

@Lunamoon23
I actually had a tear up today when I got on the scales at the gym after swimming. I sound exactly the same as you. I definitely haven't been "eating for two", but where I used to say no to the office biscuits or chocolate I have been having them more often than not because I feel tired and crap. Only one here or there but I suppose it all adds up.
I feel huge now. Absolutely huge. And I think I look it too.
Sort of all just happend in the last 2 weeks!!
I'm so lucky to be pregnancy and I know that, but I am feeling huge and I'm worried about it!!

I'm sorry ♥️

I stopped getting on the scales this time

With my daughter is gained 3.5 stone!!! And I was really careful

But believe me, it's not all fat, it is baby, placenta, water, lochia

And the fat stores are for your milk, your body is doing what it's meant to do. It's so hard to see your body change so much, especially with your first I think, but I promise you it's normal and necessary and you will feel good about yourself again in time and what your body is doing it's bloody amazing, it really is, you'll see when your baby is here and you realise what you've done xxx

@HelterSkelter224

I've had similar comments which I didn't get with my first because I worked from home and it was Covid! Shock for the system how rude people are

CatCaretaker · 09/11/2024 08:12

I've got the opposite problem. I'm barely gaining weight at all, even now at 32 weeks. She always measures exactly where she should be (she measured at 33 weeks on Thursday, which was 32 weeks and 4 days) but am I not putting on enough weight stores to bf her? Boobs have definitely gotten bigger though, but is it body fat I need? I have none extra of that (I'm not boasting, I really want bf to work).

Could there be a problem with the placenta or anything? The consultant did point the placenta out on Thursday and seemed happy.

Also, I'm eating all the time, I'm not remotely restricting food or anything like that. I've always had a good appetite and it's only grown.

HelterSkelter224 · 09/11/2024 10:05

@CatCaretaker I didn't put ANY weight on in my last pregnancy, like none at all, and baby came out at 7lb9 so I'm not sure what happened there. My midwife was never concerned. I've gained weight this time but I put that down to being a lazy cow this time round.

Baby is taking all the nutrients they need.

Re breastfeeding it's not actually due to fatty tissue, at all, people with all sizes of boobs can feed. As long as you're eating a healthy balanced and nutritious diet and drinking plenty of water you should be fine.

HelterSkelter224 · 09/11/2024 10:07

@CatCaretaker I should say too that I am someone who has always been naturally slim (although since hitting 40 that is defo changing!!) so I also have low body fat % and hasn't affected either of my pregnancies. As long as baby is growing as expected you're doing all the right things x

OnNaturesCourse · 09/11/2024 12:02

I lost weight with my first - never gained much when actually pregnant and was lighter straight after birth than I was before pregnancy, continued to lose weight until about 3 months post. Eventually was back at normal around 1 year after.

Baby was a healthy weight, born at 38 weeks. Midwife said babies are leeches and will take from you regardless.

How is everyone today? I'm having a mild panic. It's my DCs birthday and I've had period like constant cramp since late last night, now I feel like I'm going to pee myself everytime baby moves so I suspect they are pretty low down. My back was so achy last night I had to put heat on it too. Lots of mucus came away yesterday and day before. I have a lot of pressure but in the back passage - no constipation for once either. I'm not sure if something is happening slowly, or my head/body is playing tricks on me as I've panicked about this happening for the past week or so.

CatCaretaker · 09/11/2024 13:45

@OnNaturesCourse how many weeks are you?

Thanks @OnNaturesCourse and @HelterSkelter224

34 weeks. I'm usually a earlish goer for labor so I'm just hoping baby stays put a while longer.

Thinking positive thoughts for you 🙏💞

RedRobyn2021 · 09/11/2024 22:14

@CatCaretaker my midwife said to me yesterday, the baby takes what they need, it's you you need to worry about and it's so true

The baby will be fine, you can definitely breastfeed, just make sure you eat enough to look after yourself x

RedRobyn2021 · 09/11/2024 22:16

@OnNaturesCourse

When did your other babies come?

I'm sure I've read they can be low for quite a long time

Edited

I was lighter at 38 weeks than at my booking in appointment due to GD and breastfed for 14 months.

With this pregnancy, I’ve only gained 3lbs so far and 32 weeks. I think due to GD again, but I’m not concerned at the moment that BFing wouldn’t be successful again.

Try not to worry, even though it’s hard! X

Lorelaigilless · 09/11/2024 23:01

Is anyone struggling with sickness? It’s like there’s not enough room in my body for my
stomach anymore

OnNaturesCourse · 09/11/2024 23:04

All around 38 weeks so not drastically early. But I was in pre labor/early labor for about a week to ten days with them all too.

My symptoms have all eased aside from the butt pressure, braxton hicks and the cramps aren't constant anymore but random. I'm thinking my brain / body playing tricks on me with my worries.

OnNaturesCourse · 09/11/2024 23:06

@Lorelaigilless yes, and almost a complete lack of appetite too which is unusual for me at this stage. I do seem to get hungry if I'm awake in the early hours though which is odd.

Did anyone say "too big" or just that it's big? My last growth scan had abdominal circumference at 95% centile. The sonographer said I should expect a follow up but didn't seem worried, said that it was mostly a good predictor for fetal weight. In my case the femur length was 90%, so also tall, and just looks like a big baby. Hope it's similar in your case and nothing to worry about.

Our first child was also measuring at 90% centile through pregnancy but was born early at 37 weeks, 50% centile for weight and height, so was quite glad then that he was big for his gestational age.

Hmm I can’t quite remember the exact wording but femur and head were between 40-55th and then abdomen 98th. I’ve jumped from 50th centile to 98th on the bump measurements within a couple weeks.

Bluesea14 · 10/11/2024 12:22

Anyone else not experiencing pelvic pain or pressure? I'm 33 weeks so I thought I would have it by now.

OnNaturesCourse · 10/11/2024 12:28

@Bluesea14 it can differ pregnancy to pregnancy. I was on crutches with it by that point in my first, and barely had a waddle with my second. I'm 34 weeks now with my fourth and no waddle but I can feel baby rubbing on my pelvic bone and lots of pressure in my back and bum which I don't remember for my others.

I've got heaviness down there for sure. Like he's dropped and I'm carrying lower now, occasional sharp pains like lightening crotch when he's moving but I'm able to walk fine etc. (35weeks) x

Lunamoon23 · 10/11/2024 13:20

Sorry for the TMI but has anyone nearing the end of their pregnancy noticed the discharge has ramped up. Sometimes it feels like I've wet myself.. it's constant now and quite heavy. Is that quite normal? (Sorry, first pregnancy) xxx

RedRobyn2021 · 10/11/2024 14:22

@Bluesea14

Yeah I have a bit, I'm 34 weeks, usually getting in and out of bed on an evening or sometimes rolling over.

A couple of weeks ago I had quite a sore pelvis, I assume she moved because I'm fine now

Yes. It does depend on the day though, but just yesterday I had lots of discharge 🙈

Another thing I've experienced (I had the same with my first too) is when I wee it's usually coming out wonky so I will often wee on my own bum and not straight down into the toilet

Pregnancy is so glamorous

Hi @Lunamoon23 yes. And I had to go get checked at triage - id suggest you do the same. Any wetness should be checked in case your waters are trickling/leaking.
definitely call the midwife and get checked asap
