DC 1 - 37 - took 5.5 years
DC 2 - 40 - no time actively trying and a total surprise as a one off lapse in taking precautions!

jennymac31 · 03/11/2024 05:11

Took me 6 months to fall pregnant with DC1 at 32 and it took 5 months to fall pregnant with DC2 at 36.

KittyFantastica · 03/11/2024 09:36

One month for my first pregnancy - early loss at 6 weeks.

One month for my second pregnancy - early loss at 9 weeks.

One month for my son - late loss at 19 weeks.

We started trying December last year just after I'd turned 35. I just turned 36 and we're still deciding whether to start again.

@KittyFantastica oh my gosh, that's heartbreaking 😩.

All awful, but particularly at 19 weeks when you'd think everything would be fine.

Good luck with whichever route you take next x

First month.
First Baby due now!

Barleysugar86 · 03/11/2024 10:38

First month at 31, one year at 35, BUT I was in a really stressful work situation and I think it was probably the reason more than age.

SquashPenguin · 03/11/2024 10:43

Started trying at 32, had a baby at 38.

KittyFantastica · 03/11/2024 21:44

Yeah, @boomsi, it's been soul destroying. I'm not the same person I was a year ago.

I meant to put in my last post, I don't want to scare you (or anyone). I gave my answer because I think it's really easy to focus on one thing (conception, for example) and think once you've managed that, the rest will fall into place.

I have a friend (34 when she started TTC) who took 2.5 years to fall pregnant with her first, but it was a perfect pregnancy all the way through. That baby is 11 months old now, and they've just started trying for their next child as they are worried it will take another few years. She has no real worries about losses though because, despite taking a long time to conceive, she felt secure during her pregnancy. Basically, bringing a baby home is a long road, even for those who seem to conceive easily.

A single act of unprotected sex was enough

Same... never was pregnant before as always used protection..

yipyipyop · 04/11/2024 01:09

Second month at 35. The other 3 pregnancies at 37,38 and 39 all in the first month. The middle 2 were miscarriages though. Recently had my second child at 40.

ANiceCuppaTeaandBiscuit · 04/11/2024 01:11

Conceived first month trying at 35, my first child.

Mum23boys1987 · 04/11/2024 05:13

Chypre · 04/11/2024 06:01

3 months

Olika · 04/11/2024 06:08

I got pregnant right away at 37. It ended in MC though and it took us 2.5 years after that to succeed again so by then I was 40.

eurochick · 04/11/2024 06:24

Lots of very fertile people on this thread. I started ttc just before I turned 35. It took two rounds of IUI and four rounds to ivf to get a pregnancy that lasted (had an mc from my first round of ivf). No reason found - unexplained infertility.
