Here's Esme in her sling whilst I'm chopping veg 😀

@TripleESept24 I know we were neglected, not sure why they took so long. Always envious when I see what people get. Great bargains and she looks v comfy in her sling 😍

WinsandSam · 13/11/2024 21:37

@TripleESept24 hope you're liking the sling! It's been a game changer for me. She looks very cosy in there.

Ruby is really struggling in the evenings now. She won't nap and is so restless and angry. No idea what's going on for her but it's sad to see 😭 she used to nap for a good couple of hours before/leading up to bedtime. She fidgets and squirms around and cries. Anyone else find this?

@Emmaev @HuggingAnIcePack887 very true! A girl can dream. I keep waking up in the night praying when I look at the clock that it has been 4 hours, never is 😂
How did you know your LO had a milk protein allergy? I think mine has one and due back to GP in 2 weeks to see if the comfort milk has helped.

@PinkWatermelon88 they are off my list so! Thanks,Still haven't made it to Aldi, nearest one is 20 mins away, hope to get there Friday. So we are still leaking at times. 😅

@kc92 3 for €10 in Lidl and Tesco so crack them open!!!

@TripleESept24 the GP 8 week check up is very thorough - hips, heart, tongue tie etc. I didn't have health visitor to house since 2 weeks I think and tbh she was useless and brushed anythinfg off about constipation. I'm not sure you can skip it in the UK but with mine I told her I was going to the GP the following week she wanted to see me so I asked her was there any point and that I could ring her in the meantime if I had an issue
She signed me off then. Maybe worth a try? Could be a different system over there and might raise a red flag if you skip?

@FuppinNora we thought that our baby could have a milk allergy, the doctors have prescribed us colief and lactulose - has your doctor prescribed the comfort milk? As we are trying that too.

FuppinNora · 14/11/2024 11:15

@Demi55 my DS was constipated and cramping an awful lot. I tried him with colief for 2 weeks and there was a marked improvement in his cramps so I asked GP and they said put him on the comfort as the colief dilutes the lactose in the formula.

He is on it approx 4 weeks and things have improved with bowel movements but
I find that he still cramps up after so many bottles and ends up only being able to take 60ml when should be 150ml. He still isn't going everyday but is not tortured when going. GP has asked me to come back in 2 weeks and has said they might prescribe a prescription formula. I'm not sure he has an allergy though as doesn't sound as severe as HuggingAnIcePack and is putting on weight.

@WinsAndSam my guy started evening antics from about 7 weeks, he has settled now on week 11. From what I can gather some of it was colic but other times he was exhausted as wasn't getting proper sleep during day. I started making sure he was getting a good sleep around 3pm which helped him be a lot calmer. I was literally walking the floor a few evenings.

DS must be reading here... he did 4 hours last night... from 6pm to 11pm...!! I had high hopes but back to 3 hours for rest of night. He is taunting me 🤣

@FuppinNora you ds sounds exactly like our dd! We are using both comfort and colief, I’m going to try take one away in time, we only started less than a week ago though! You’ll have to let me know what happens at the doctors as at the moment she is still not going every day and the poos are hard occasionally and she is struggling still

Decaffe · 14/11/2024 13:21

Other times he was exhausted as wasn't getting proper sleep during day. I started making sure he was getting a good sleep around 3pm which helped him be a lot calmer.

This is so interesting @FuppinNora as it’s something I’ve been struggling with. The dilemma… if we’re having a day at home then we can do a lovely routine of feed-sleep-change with a few wake windows thrown in. DS gets good sleep and all is well.

But, if we go out to the shops, to a cafe, a medical appointment - anywhere - then it really disrupts DS’s sleep. He often finds the transitions from home to car/pram and back stressful, or car seat to pram. He doesn’t always nod off in the pram or car seat and if he does then he’ll be 👀 as soon as the movement stops.

So basically if I leave the house then I know the payback will be that he doesn’t get enough sleep that day. But I can’t stay at home every day - especially as he’s velcro so I have to have him in my arms all day apart from maybe 10 mins on the activity gym and maybe 10 mins in the Moses.

I just don’t know how to square the circle?!

TripleESept24 · 14/11/2024 13:46

Silly Random question..... If baby starts crying on the bus in the pram can you get them out ? 🤔 I am thinking no as it's not safe if there was a sudden break? She's normally good as gold in her pram but had a bit of a crying fit on the bus yesterday for 10 mins

FuppinNora · 14/11/2024 17:00

@Demi55 Do you find your DD wheezes a bit/strange breathing at times? I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid or is that how babies breathes sometimes. Will let you know how we get on.

@Decaffe mine is same, I've been know to keep driving and take the long way home so he sleeps. I don't always manage to get him to have a good sleep though! If I'm out I try get him to sleep in my arms/sling/buggy for awhile after bottle and then when he starts waking put him in car/buggy so nap is prolonged.

I'd take baby out on bus, I'm sure Ideally they should be strapped in. Could always bring a sling to pop her in if needed?

WinsandSam · 14/11/2024 17:22

@FuppinNora I do wonder if it's because naps are often disturbed. I'm out everyday keeping busy which means little down time. Maybe I need to slow down and allow her some longer naps at home. @Decaffe sounds like we're having the same issue as always doing something. Also only contact naps in the day unless in car seat/pram so it's a long day to be stuck at home.

She also tricked me into having one night of sleeping 5-6hours. We're straight back to 3-4 max now!

@TripleESept24 id definitely take her out if she was crying. Bit like a taxi, they have to go on your lap so can't see if being any different

TripleESept24 · 14/11/2024 18:49

@WinsandSam you can take them out in a taxi!?! Do you mean like a black cab?

WinsandSam · 14/11/2024 18:58

@TripleESept24 I'm pretty sure that babies/children travel on your lap in a tax or coach.. I could be making it up completely 😂

I've always used her car seat in Ubers/taxis!! I wasn't sure about on a coach I was wondering about that aswell! X

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 14/11/2024 19:48

@WinsandSam my baby definitely sleeps better and longer when we're home and chill and I'm on the ball getting him to nap as soon as he's tired.

TripleESept24 · 15/11/2024 17:23

Anyone else's baby just cry and kick up an absolute fuss kicking their legs out etc after a bottle? Impossible to sit her up straight and wind her! It's not every time but it's quite often!! I stop halfway through the bottle to try too and it's the same

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 15/11/2024 23:03

@TripleESept24 yeah. It's gone down a lot since I've given up dairy (I'm breastfeeding) but still happens often-ish in the evenings. No helpful hints, it's distressing for all of us.

kc92 · 16/11/2024 12:36

@FuppinNora I don't know whether to thank you or curse you for telling me about vinted! So far spent €20, & bought 5 Christmas jumpers, 4 pairs of dungarees, 1 top and 1 jumper for the kids as well as a nutcracker statue. Am a little obsessed with the French baby clothes!

& My DS has no choice but to sleep out and about in the sling. I think I'd go certifiable trying to parent my toddler indoors. 🙈 It took him a while but he can fall asleep anywhere now, through any noise.

WinsandSam · 16/11/2024 21:11

@TripleESept24 @kc92 Ru struggles with this too, especially in the evenings. She goes stiff as a board and screams ..she's EBF and gulps a lot of air when annoyed. poor babies

FuppinNora · 16/11/2024 23:47

@kc92 I haven't bought anything yet but keep browsing, I can't see postage until I do a first purchase. What is postage roughly? French boys clothes are cute!

I will have a 3 month old on Tuesday first off 😳Ds has started moving on the floor, very slight movements moving backwards by digging feet in . FML!
Also the last 3 nights I've put him down in his crib sleepy but awake with his projector on and he just falls asleep! What the hell? However I've tried weaning him off being swaddled in the large muslin blankets but he isn't having any of it? Anyone any tips on how to start unswaddling?
I've found him a lot easier to manage this week ladies so there is light at the end of the tunnel, I've had lunch everyday at an appropriate time for starters.

kc92 · 17/11/2024 09:07

@FuppinNora that's the best part - free postage for the first few weeks of having an account.

Having a three month old - where did the time go?! Mine turned 10 weeks yesterday and I couldn't believe it. & What projector do you have please? If it helps babies sleep I'm 💯 going to impulse buy it tonight.

@WinsandSam I've found doing belly massage works a little bit but I haven't found any way to stop him gulping the air. He's gotten gradually better as he gets bigger though so hoping he continues growing out of it!

My DH just saw me typing this and I had to explain mumsnet to him. The look of bewilderment on his face as I was trying to share how I don't know who any of you are but talk to you regularly - he asked did I need to make more friends. 😂

FuppinNora · 17/11/2024 10:59

It's similar to this one. I think my friend got in like a poundshop or home bargains, she got it as her little one loved it too. If you type in star master projector should come up. They are on temu also, cheap as chips.

Ah but friends on Mumsnet you don't need to get dressed or washed to talk to them 😂 much better

We finally had a night in the cot hallelujah
I didn’t think breastfeeding would get any easier, but now her belly is bigger she fills up and goes 3 hours. She’s started babbling and laughing to herself too, it’s the cutest thing.

Weve also found a house to live in 2 streets over so no changing schools for our eldest. It’s not all signed and sealed yet, so OH tells me not to get excited yet.

I can’t help getting excited for Christmas now everything isn’t unknown

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 17/11/2024 12:51

@FuppinNora my baby is also 12 weeks tomorrow 😀 we had to unswaddle 2 nights ago as he suddenly started rolling side to side. I am a broken woman now. He wakes himself up all the time and wants a feed too. It's probably a combination of no swaddle and a growth spurt. I'm a shell of a human being.

On the plus side, he started properly giggling the other day

FuppinNora · 17/11/2024 17:09

@Emmaev great news about house, what a relief!
@HuggingAnIcePack887 rolling? Oh Lordy! I really need to keep trying the unswaddling but like yours he keeps waking up, he is like a fish in the cot thrashing about. Any tips send them my way!

WinsandSam · 17/11/2024 17:10

The smiling and giggling is the best! Makes it all worth while 🥰 mornings are our best time where we have lots of time just chatting.

DD has also started enjoying the bassinet of the pram, even falls to sleep in it on a walk. Huge improvement on the past crying!

I don't know what witchery happened but last night she slept 10-4am.. I was in the deepest sleep ever and it was beautiful. Then back down until 7:45.. I'm sure tonight will be rough! She's been pretty snoozy as we went away for a night.

I need to get one of those projector lights too. Currently have a red light which she likes
