I have found out VERY early that I am pregnant and due early June (I am only 10dpo today) and found out yesterday I am pregnant (22 Sept)

Wanted to start this thread for those of you who have also just found out :) I found the thread when I was pregnant with my son super helpful!

I'm Lexie, 32, have a 14 month old son so am just squeezing in 2 under 2 :)

Thanks for setting up the groups I think I will wait until I’m further on to join if that’s ok? I joined a group in May and then went on to have a mmc and there was a lot of stuff going on for the other ladies in the chat and it just gave me anxiety. Happy to join at 12 weeks once we have had a successful scan.

They are such a great idea and wouldn’t have got through the past 2 years without my August group- during pregnancy and the first year!

I totally get that and no pressure! I think the link expires after 48h so just ask for it again once you're ready :)

Bewildened · 18/10/2024 08:48

I agree @LS888 - I’ve had lots of mcs in the past so would like to wait before joining. I haven’t even told my GP or registered for my booking in appointment yet!

Ive got my early scan today at 6+2.

LS888 · 18/10/2024 08:58

@Bewildened its so hard isn’t it. We haven’t even decided if we want an early scan yet. For our last mmc we had a successful scan at 6weeks and saw a heartbeat and then a miscarriage a few weeks later. But after our first mmc having an early scan with my daughter gave me some hope. These early weeks are so hard! How many weeks are you now?

MittensForKittens123 · 18/10/2024 09:08

@LS888 I’ve also decided not to join anything til after the 12 week scan. With the spotting I’ve been having I don’t want to feel ‘too attached’ until I know everything is ok.

Fingers crossed for everyone

Bewildened · 18/10/2024 09:25

@LS888 im 6+2. I have had such bad symptoms this time round that I am fairly hopeful - I had minimal to no symptoms with my miscarriages - but will just have to see. Will update later!

PlanABC · 18/10/2024 09:55

I totally get that, my need for organising things won over my pregnancy anxiety haha. I'm only 5+1 and people around me (IVF so a few people had to be in the loop) are so excited and I'm just like.. "yes I am pregnant, for now..." I won't get my scan until I'm 7+5, so ages away.

I have no/little symptoms but I never did with my son either, so I'm trying not to worry about that.

If anyone reads this later and does want to join the facebook, I think the link has already expired so just message me if you do want to join (either PM or tagging me here).

I would love to join Facebook/ WhatsApp groups but will wait until after my first scan at 8 weeks due to previous losses
I was in the February due 2025 WhatsApp group and it was heartbreaking when I was the first one to have to leave due to miscarriage. So trying to protect my heart 💕

I’m 6 weeks today and omg the nausea has really hit my hard. I didn’t get it this bad with the last pregnancy that ended at 7w.
So I’m grateful for the nausea but anyone have any advice on how to help it? I’m just constantly nauseous and nothing is helping 🙈

Daniki · 18/10/2024 14:19

@LacedBouquet sucky sweets are currently saving me!

Gooseygander555 · 18/10/2024 14:24

NHS Calculator says I'm 4 weeks, my LMP was 10/9 but I have slightly longer cycles.
I had a terrible nausea on Monday but other than that been fine. Boobs are a bit sore.
One thing worrying me is lots of light cramping, sort of similar to what I usually have as ovulation pain, but it alternates sides so I don't think it's ectopic. Has anyone else had similar?
I'm also a bit older so worried about Downs, been googling early NIPT but seems private or nhs is at 10 weeks so is there any point going private for this?

MummyMammoth · 18/10/2024 14:57

Bit period type achy today.. 5+1… 10 prev losses so a bit worried…

codemytea · 18/10/2024 15:15

@Gooseygander555 Yes, the period-y/ovulation-y cramps are awful, I think quite a few of us have had that so far so I wouldn't worry! I've only just recently started experiencing 'strange' cramps from time to time (like tickling or pinching, or more memorably, a kind of velcro peeling sensation which was just lovely), but most of my cramps are still exactly as you describe, and I'm at wk7+3.

I've found the following place that can do private NIPT (https://privatemidwives.com/private-antenatal-care-private-midwives/non-invasive-prenatal-testing-nipt/) but even they suggest waiting till week 11 or the results may not be as accurate. Sorry that I can't offer more help! I'd just recommend making sure they do the NIPT on you if you're going via NHS as I've heard that sometimes thay just do nuchal translucency which isn't meant to be as accurate.

Edit, source: "In a large study by the Fetal Medicine Foundation, nuchal translucency had a trisomy 21 detection rate of 77% with a 5% false-positive rate" (https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/medicine-and-dentistry/nuchal-translucency-measurement) whereas NIPT is has ">99% [accuracy] for Down's Syndrome and Patau's Syndrome and >91% for Edward's Syndrome" (www.nuh.nhs.uk/frequently-asked-questions-faqs/)

Gooseygander555 · 18/10/2024 15:22

@codemytea thank you so much! I've just done the self referral form for the maternity unit at our local, so hopefully they get in touch then and I can ask about testing.
It's so strange because other than the weird cramping, which I wouldn't usually pay attention to between periods, I don't have any symptoms! Sort of forget I'm pregnant! Though I suppose it's early days so probably to come

Bewildened · 18/10/2024 15:25

@Gooseygander555 the NHS doesn’t offer NIPT as standard but I think
some trusts will do it in certain circumstances - does yours? Mine would
only offer it if the combined test (12 week scan+ bloods) indicated a problem.

I will have one privately at 10 weeks because I would like to know as soon as possible.

I had my scan today - measuring 6+1 (a day behind what I thought but nothing to worry about) and a good heartbeat so all is looking good for now.

codemytea · 18/10/2024 15:47

@Gooseygander555 I've been the same, barely sore breasts, was ever so slightly nauseous the first few days but that's gone too, and one random food aversion to fresh artichokes (which is a shame! It was the last one from the allotment as well :( ). I don't know whether to be worried or counting my blessings! My only main one is occasional cramping, and I've been quite tired too. Everyones journey is different though so fingers crossed for you!

@Bewildened Good to hear your scan went well and that you could see the heartbeat!

Gooseygander555 · 18/10/2024 15:56

@Bewildened I'm not sure, had a look on the website but couldn't see. It's a good point though. Maybe I should just book a private one in...

I can 100% sympathise regarding sickness. I've been suffering massively this week. For me, the only thing that gives me an hours break is a baked potato with salt and butter. I've got anti sickness tablets I can pick up tomorrow ( had hyperemesis last time ) think in all honesty different things will help for different women.

Are you having hcg bloods taken? you able to go for reassurance scan private one? I hope this is your 🌈 baby. Do you have anyother symptoms?

Needcoffee24 · 18/10/2024 19:27

Anyone experiencing a high resting heart rate? 101 is my resting rate. it's normally 50/60

Iv been having these on and off since the early days, and Iv have two good scans so far so try not get worried. Unfortunately when we have suffered losses we look at all this things as negative when they're in fact a normal part of pregnancy. I asked my 3 currently pregnant friends if they had similar and they have promised me they have 😂 I vaguely remember it with my son but that's 4 years ago 🙈

@Daniki congrats on your good scans!!

I guess so. My daughter’s 2.5 and I don’t recall this with her. I haven’t had any spotting though but that could be the progesterone.

@Needcoffee24 they wouldn’t do HCG bloods I don’t think, no real reason to…

Also the increase in resting pulse is normal - increased blood volume required in pregnancy.

Time will tell, thanks for the reassurance. See how the scan goes.
