So we’ve been TTC baby #2 for 5 months. Had a positive test in April that sadly ended in a chemical pregnancy. So this is cycle 3 since then and got a very faint positive on an internet cheapie last night at 9dpo. I went out and bout a CB digital today and have got my BFP confirmed today on it 😊
My EDD is 4th April 2025 going from LMP and cycle length.
I’m aware it’s very early days and anything can happen that’s why I’ve decided not to tell anyone I know until after my period is due which is Friday. Just can’t keep it to myself and would love for others to join and talk to who have recently found out they are expecting in April 2025!

Aw hello, so glad to see you are here too. How are you getting on?

I'm okay, pgp is getting quite bad now though. Baby is quite large and i'm quite small 🙈I'm so looking forward to April and baby being here. How're you doing?

Zypig · 30/01/2025 15:27

Hi @Lcw29 sorry to hear you’ve had a rough week, good baby looks ok though. It’s a stressful and hormonal time so I think it’s totally normal for your to feel a bit funny. I have a small amount of blood in my urine but tests showed no UTI and now my GP seems disinterested. But I really would like an explanation why! I’ve got a MW appointment on Saturday where they will retest so I’m hoping to push for answers a bit more. But I’m also feeling just a bit unsettled by it.

@Rbear9 good to hear about the glucose test, I have mine on Saturday so a heads up is helpful! How long do your results take to come back?

4 working days, but only if there’s anything wrong, I was told that no news is good news so keeping my fingers crossed!

Good luck with your test - I read a lot online where a lot of people have really struggled but I was actually ok, hopefully you will be too!

You poor thing. I have PGP too. Have you seen a physio? I'm good. I'm approaching 29 weeks now where I lost my boys so a bit nervous but holding strong. Dying to get to the finishing line

Bellebg · 30/01/2025 16:37

@Rbear9 I had the glucose test this week too. Did it on Monday so am currently waiting but think that if I haven’t heard back by now I might be in the clear. Will ring midwife tomorrow! Hope your results come back ok 🤞🏼

Hi everyone, I had my glucose tolerance test today - I’m beyond anxious about the results but hoping all is fine. The bloods weren’t too bad (I am typically hard to get blood from) and the drink itself, although not great and very thick, didn’t make me sick. Anyone else going through the wait for the GTT results?

I had my test on Tuesday. Similar to you I managed bloods and drink fine. Felt a little woozy about 90 mins into the wait but I think that was from sitting on an uncomfortable chair for so long! Midwife told me that if I didn’t hear from the hospital within 2 days, I was in the clear!

I had mine last Monday and ended up getting the results same day even though I was told it would be 3 days. (It was all clear) hopefully yours is too!

Has anyone has increased levels on their Carbon Monoxide tests? We only have log burners, no gas supply and keep reading between 3-5. Latest was last Wednesday and a 5 so have been referred to the ‘smoke’ team. Going back this Wednesday to test again and my husband is going to come and do a test as well. We’ve had people come and check the log burners and they couldn’t find an issue which is more annoying really as I can’t think what else it could be. I had a 0 at my booking appointment but that was at the hospital not the community midwife centre. Looks likely I’ll be referred to growth scans from 32 weeks.

Are you near a lot of traffic? If you're in a congested area, or the clinic is and you're hanging around outside breathing in the fumes, it could be that?

Only time I had a higher than usual reading (3 rather than the 0s previously) it was just after we had been to a hotel for 4 days and spent our evenings in front of the log burners/open fires. My midwife guessed that’s what it was immediately and says she has one at home and has noticed a massive spike in her readings if she’s been sat there for a while but says it disappears once she spends half an hour in fresh air.

Incidentally, I’ve been referred for growth scans and a low lying placenta. I know it means more appointments/faff but it’s also a chance to see the baby again and I can’t wait!

Gnatalie16 · 02/02/2025 19:39

Hi, I am currently 28+4 due 23rd April. I had a growth scan on Friday as this is an IVF pregnancy plus my age and weight! Baby boy is growing well but they noted high fluid around the baby, has anyone else had this before? The consultant said it could be gestational diabetes but I only had my test mid January which came back okay. I've got another scan in 2 weeks to check again if the fluid is still high.

Thank you! So glad your results were all clear, I’m hoping for the same! I thought I might know on Friday but sadly not. I keep checking my NHS app to see if the results have been uploaded there and I haven’t been contacted yet, which in theory is a good thing, I’m just anxious waiting for the results.

I have to have extra scans as well and I think it’s actually reassuring - I do like getting to see baby more often

TheBeesKnee · 05/02/2025 12:17

I had a call with a consultant midwife yesterday which has really irritated me.

This is my second baby, the first was born via EMCS due to footling presentation during induction. I've decided I want a planned section this time and I have no interest in a vbac.

She basically said she couldn't book it in until I'd watched a video prepared by the Trust. There was a comment at the start that we will be asked questions based on the content to make sure we've watched it 🫠

I tried watching it last night and it was lagging.

I managed to get through it this morning and it's an hour of the dangers of cesareans and the perks of a vaginal delivery. They had the nerve to finish off the video by saying "it's your choice and we'll support you".

Some really aggravating turns of phrase such as "some women may experience intense contractions such may be quite painful" 🤯

They clearly have an agenda to push and even though we have choice in policy, in practice they're still trying to herd women down the vbac route.

I don't want to get into a debate with her so I've just emailed saying I've watched the stupid video and can we please proceed with booking my CS.

It feels very very odd to be in a position to choose your baby's birthday! It'll be the W/C 28th April for me and they do planned sections Monday-Thursday.

I don't know what's best. I'd like to keep the baby in for as long as possible, but worried about booking the Thursday and then getting delayed or ending up at home at the weekend with a wild toddler and newborn 😵‍💫

My eldest's birthday is 5th May so I am gutted that I won't be at my best for his second birthday and I'm wondering whether it's worth the agro to try and fight for a due date section (6th May).

Dojo13 · 05/02/2025 15:38

Oh wow! It’s crazy how these things vary between hospitals. This is my first baby but requested a planned section so had an appointment with a consultant straight after my 20 week scan where she signed it off and booked it in. No really questions asked other than reading through some of the risks but my husband and I had told her that we had done our research so she was happy to book it in and even prescribed the omeprazole to take the evening before and morning of the section.

It’s worth asking the question if you would rather wait longer for the section but I know with planned they do usually get you in at 39 weeks if there are no other issues. Mine is booked 21-25th April (doubt it’ll be 21st as it’s Easter Monday) and my due date is 28th 😊

@Rbear9 @hopeful4us @TheBeesKnee I had my follow up midwife appointment today and my carbon monoxide level was 1. My husband came and did it too and his was the same. We haven’t used the log burners since before last weeks appointment so it must be those! Annoying really as we had them tested and they were fine but at least we know now to just not use them. Weather is getting warmer now thankfully anyway!

TheBeesKnee · 05/02/2025 16:08

@Dojo13 I have GDM so realistically they won't be very cooperative about leaving baby in. With my first they induced me at 38+5 and he was born at 39+1. Just wishful thinking on my part tbh.

I am glad your appointment went better but undeniably jealous!

That is very annoying. I have had a similar thing where I had an EMCS last time after a failed induction and distressed baby. The consultant said having an elective was "very sensible" especially as I'm likely to be induced again otherwise. However I've still had to do a video call with the vbac midwife. To be fair she wasn't pushy but it still made me doubt my decision a bit even though I'd been crystal clear after the last time where I was left a bit traumatised.

I'm hopefully getting my section booked in at my 32 week consultant appointment! Last time we were in hospital for two weeks and there is no way I would want to leave my toddler that long.

TheBeesKnee · 05/02/2025 16:17

@Allswellthatendswelll was there anything specific that made you doubt your decision?

I think in fairness I'd be doubting myself more if they hadn't been so heavy handed with the content with regards to risks of a CS and glossing over the VBAC process.

Gosh 2 weeks! That's crazy, I was in for 5 days and that was definitely too long!

How old is your toddler? Mine is 21 months.

Such ashame they are causing unnecessary stress on your part. Hopefully they’ll book you in earlier that week due to your GD. You might take priority over someone who is also choosing a planned section but doesn’t have any underlying issues

Not really it just made me kind of wish there was a bit more joined up messaging between the consultants and midwives. The one thing I am very clear about is that I don’t want to be induced though!

We were in for a week after the birth due to complications from DS being distressed. He is now a full on three year old! I am a bit worried about the recovery from a second c section with him as he's very active but luckily my DH has good pat leave allowance.

Allswellthatendswelll · 05/02/2025 19:09

@TheBeesKnee It's very annoying you just were given a video to watch. I feel like a professional should give you all the pros and cons in person so you can make an informed choice.

Blue2020 · 05/02/2025 19:38

I’m still in two minds of asking for an elective csection vs trying for vbac. My first was emcs at 35 weeks (didn’t have contractions/induction beforehand but I was open to being induced before it needed to be csection). I have been very clear so far about turning down induction though (I don’t like the odds of a rupture, and my friends had failed inductions which ended in csections anyway). I have said it on two occasions with the midwife to add it into my notes. I did then also ask if I could book in a csection, eg if it happened naturally before then I would be open to trying but I will refuse induction. Do you think I’m phrasing it wrong and I should just ask for a csection and keep it in my head I would be open if it happened naturally before then?

TheBeesKnee · 05/02/2025 22:43

@Allswellthatendswelll I'm guessing it's a cost saving exercise.

In fairness she called me back today with dates and options and didn't do the quiz that was threatened in the video.

It's a very odd feeling to be choosing my baby's birthday! With the induction with my first I was just told they do inductions on a Wednesday and see you then!

TheBeesKnee · 05/02/2025 22:45

@Blue2020 they're likely to want to book a CS for 39 weeks so that's something to consider, you're unlikely to go into labour before that all being well.

TheBeesKnee · 13/02/2025 14:41

28 weeks now and feeling veeery pregnant and tired.

Have a CS date booked for 1st May (am I going to be booted out of this group?) so it's all starting to feel a bit real.

Panicking about the state of my room and the stuff I still need to sort out though. I have a toddler so know that I won't have the time or energy to do this after baby is born.
