So we’ve been TTC baby #2 for 5 months. Had a positive test in April that sadly ended in a chemical pregnancy. So this is cycle 3 since then and got a very faint positive on an internet cheapie last night at 9dpo. I went out and bout a CB digital today and have got my BFP confirmed today on it 😊
My EDD is 4th April 2025 going from LMP and cycle length.
I’m aware it’s very early days and anything can happen that’s why I’ve decided not to tell anyone I know until after my period is due which is Friday. Just can’t keep it to myself and would love for others to join and talk to who have recently found out they are expecting in April 2025!

I am at the stage of pregnancy where coughing vigorously caused me to wet myself a bit. Luckily I was at home but I thought I'd last a bit longer than 23 weeks!

Yes me too!! It's so embarrassing haha my pelvic floor is clearly non existent!

Blue2020 · 10/01/2025 14:40

@TheBeesKnee oh yes I have had that a lot the last two weeks and I’m 25 weeks now. With my bad cough it’s been either making me sick if I cough a bit too much/intensely or I have been wetting myself, sometimes both. I resorted to wearing sanitary pads because even a liner wasn’t helping.

hopeful4us · 12/01/2025 20:06

Anyone started buying baby clothing? I took the plunge yesterday and ordered x3 sleepsuits (2 newborn 1 0-3 months). Questions:

  • How many sleepsuits will you get in each size?
  • Are you planning to get long bodysuits as well as short ones or do you think it’ll be warm enough in April?
  • Are you planning to get any ‘outfit’ type things or do you intend to keep your baby in sleepsuits for the first few months?
Oxforddictionary12 · 12/01/2025 21:44

First time around I found I needed far more sleep suits than I intilaly though. Milk spillages, wee and poo leakages you name it. I think I had about 10 vests first time round- it wasn't enough! Search Vinted and FB marketplace.
Went for short sleeve vests with long sleeve all in one bodysuits on top. As much as April can be nice, weather can still be cool. Babies do loose heat easily and it's easier to take layers off if needed. It's obs very important to keep their skin protected from the sun though.
Sleepsuits for the first few months personally. I just found it easier. The best ones ever in my opinion are front fastening- either zip or poppers. The over the head ones found a bit of a nightmare.
By all means dress your little one in what you want- just be aware of little socks. They have ways of taking them off and flinging them around! (Well my boy did!) Some people I know used 'sock ons'(something to keep the socks in place!) But by no means an essential.

Is anyone else feeling very anxious? I've noticed the last few weeks I feel quite panicked at the due date getting closer. Sometimes I have this awful feeling something bad will happen to me or baby and it's making me uneasy. I know it's illogical but can't shift it. I home educate my eldest who is 7 so I have had my hands full with being anemic on top. Maybe just tired? I've had PTSD in the past so not sure if I'm feeling triggered.

Have you been able to talk to your midwife @Lcw29? I’m sure they’ll want to know how you’re feeling and ways you can manage. Sending lots of love

hopeful4us · 23/01/2025 05:19

Think I’ve got sinusitis. Had a stuffy nose for several weeks then a horrible cough emerged Sunday (goodbye pelvic floor!), felt like I broke the back of it overnight but now the runny nose has taken over and I’ve got pain around my nose, jaw and upper teeth.

Never normally one to get ill and this has really knocked me for six. Took the day off yesterday but have been interviewing for my mat cover and have important meetings tomorrow/Friday.

Consultant appointment Friday morning at 29+4 so will mention then but seeking solidarity!

TheBeesKnee · 23/01/2025 11:44

I'd like to have a small whinge about my antenatal care. This is my second pregnancy and I was in the care of community midwives until I was diagnosed with GDM around 30 weeks. The community centre is a 5 minute walk from my house so it was very convenient. The midwives were lovely and I just had a nice, relaxing experience.

This time around I am consultant led due to the GDM and have to go to the hospital for appointments so that they can keep a closer eye on me 🧐 except I've just had another letter (3rd or 4th now I think) changing my appointment from a face to face one to a phone call. This is for the diabetes midwife appointment not the regular ones, but still I feel like it defeats the point of keeping a closer eye on me if they're not keeping an eye on me at all!

Blue2020 · 23/01/2025 12:12

@TheBeesKnee oh I can relate. Second pregnancy and I’m 27+3. I am consultant led this time due to preeclampsia from 30 weeks and having DS at 35 weeks last time. It became an emergency at the end.

My care has been very minimal so far.

-I have had one phone call from a consultant at 14 weeks. That’s my sum total of consultant contact. I don’t mind to be honest with this because a) I don’t have any signs of PE yet and b) the additional scan at 24 weeks showed good blood flow.

My issue is that my midwife doesn’t really know much (semi retired and had no clue what the rsv vaccine is), hasn’t helped me at all (had very low iron levels from 13-18 weeks to the point of passing out and at the 16wk apt she said my booking blood was fine so it’s just normal in pregnancy). I asked my gp for a blood test which showed my iron was very low. I had low iron in my first pregnancy from 6 weeks so had an incling when it started to happen this time (although a bit later on).

Also I then didn’t see her from 16 weeks until 27 weeks when she was then on AL at the 27 week apt and had another midwife covering. Her reasoning was because I was having the scan at 20 and 24 weeks they could check my urine there? However it was only with a sonographer both times and then I left. It’s probably normal to go that long due to not much happening in the second trimester but it’s just with her mentioning urine checks and not helping with the iron I just wonder.

So I’m wondering if by being consultant led I’m falling into a gap? At the 27 week appointment I asked about the 32 week growth scan the consultant said would happen or if I could request a csection to avoid induction, the midwife said to talk to the consultant about it and then she saw on the system I was not booked in to see a consultant or even have a growth scan. So if I had not have asked I probably wouldn’t have anything.

The only positive is that the consultant phone call at 14 weeks said I should have fortnightly bp/urine checks from 28 weeks with the midwife otherwise I wouldn’t be seeing the midwife again until 34 weeks.

Hi ladies ❤️

Can anyone recommend a pregnancy support belt? PGP is starting to get worse and thinking I'll need to invest in one but there's SO much out there. Any personal recommendations appreciated! X

Ella31 · 24/01/2025 11:43

Just wondering if I could join. I'm 27 weeks 3 days. Due around the 9th April by planned csection. So excited and so nervous about this baby. I had two mc's one in 2022, 1 in 2023. We got pregnant straight away after the second loss with our identical twin boys. They were due to be born at 36 weeks last December 2023 but at 30 weeks, I discovered one of my boys had passed. Had to have an emergency section. He was born sleeping and my second little boy lived for 4 days, he passed away in our arms in the NICU. Its been a hard year. But here we are expecting our little girl and everything is going well and we are hopefull x

Lcw29 · 24/01/2025 14:26

@Ella31 I'm sorry for all your losses. What a difficult journey it's been for you. I'm glad all is well so far with this pregnancy . I'm also having a girl and delivering by c section in April. Not sure when yet as I'm waiting for my consultant appointment to discuss it.
So far it's not been an easy pregnancy. Currently on iron tablets and can't walk far as my hips are stiff and sore. Also having Braxton hicks at 27+3. Is that early?

I'm due my midwife checkup next Friday but I've got a new one as previous one has left the county to work elsewhere. I'm hoping I have a good connection with her as I've had a difficult birth with my first and although second went ok I'm still apprehensive

Blue2020 · 24/01/2025 14:36

@Ella31 I remember your posts last July/August time, hopefully you get to take your little girl home this time and it all goes smoothly. Did they ever say what went wrong with your twin pregnancy?

Im also 27+4 and due 21st April, and we are having a girl. Im not sure yet whether to opt for csection or vbac, I am leaning towards csection. I am saying no to induction though.

Blue2020 · 24/01/2025 14:57

@Ella31 In my previous post, I meant to say was it unknown or did the doctors pick up on anything? I didn’t mean to say wrong and sorry for that wording.

Oh don't be sorry. Its actually nice when people ask. Yes, identical twins are really high risk because they share a placenta. There's a rare condition called Twin to twin transfusion syndrome where the placenta suddenly decides to give all the blood flow to one baby and not the other. It is horrific as it deprives one baby of blood and over gives to the other. It usually happens at 16-26 weeks and you are monitored every 2 weeks regardless.

If you get it before 26 weeks, there's a surgery to hopefully save the babies. To get it at 30 weeks is really rare. I got an acute version and the doctors were shocked, I had a perfect scan 3 days before. I was like o.o1% to get this. So in one way it's a relief because we had no chance to prevent this but you feel so robbed at the same time. My little twin who lived 4 days was beautiful. They looked perfect. They were boyh 3 pounds and gorgeous. Black hair and he did open his eyes on day 2 so we got to see him in many ways. This is only a twin condition so I don't want to scare anyone and it's rare at my stage.

We've been taken such good care of my obestrician and the hospital. I'm scanned every two weeks and I'll be delivering at 38 weeks.

Wishing you all luck ladies. Not to long to go.

Heya, I've heard Braxton hicks can start as early as second trimester but definitely share this with your midwife. You poor thing. Its hard not to worry isn't it? Xxx

Zypig · 24/01/2025 16:30

Hi @Ella31 I’m 27+2, we’ve struggled with infertility for almost 4 years so after 5 egg collections, 3 embryo transfers and a miscarriage at 9weeks we are finally here. Also expecting a little girl. So I’m feeling equally nervous and excited. Due 23 April.

@Lcw29 I’ve been having Braxton hicks for a few weeks now. I spoke to my midwife team about it and they weren’t concerned at all. Just if they became painful and frequent or if I have bleeding. I’m having probably 10-15 a day maybe. They just feel like a tightening and make me want to pee 🫠

So so sorry for your loss. I am also due around then and having a c section after a difficult induction and EMCS last time. I.am also expecting a girl 👛. I've heard lots of good things about elective sections!

Thankyou for explaining. It does sound rare what happened to you at that stage of the pregnancy.

It’s also good to hear that your hospital are taking care of you both and keeping a close eye this time.

Im doing ok thanks, just getting a bit tired. I have a 21 month old toddler so between him and work it’s harder to find time to relax this time. I also had preeclampsia from 30 weeks in my last pregnancy so I’m hoping it doesn’t happen again. I’m on asprin this time and I have heard of many who don’t get it the next time.

How are you feeling going into the third trimester? You only have around 10 weeks left.

That's so hard. I hope you are being well looked after. I'm also on aspirin too. It must be tough juggling a toddler and being pregnant.

I'm good going into the 3rd trimester. Very tired and I've SPD but everything else is fine. Just really want to have her out safe now. Missing my boys a lot too but I know they are with me.

Aw hello, so glad to see you are here too. How are you getting on?

Lcw29 · 26/01/2025 12:16

So last night I was in triage as I had bad cramping and tightening. Baby is fine and looks like Braxton hicks. However they had to do a speculum test to check cervix was definitely closed. I've never been in so much pain down there. They had to give me gas and air as I was so sore and swollen. They think I have bad thrush but did a swab too.
I'm usually fine in these tests. They left the room and I burst into tears on my hubby. Didn't even really know why. I've felt quite down ever since and can't stop thinking about it. The doctor and midwife were very kind and stopped when I said ECT... I just can't understand why I feel so out of sorts still. It's been a stressful week so maybe just tipped me over? Hubby thinks it could have brought back memories from first labour which was very tough. I just needed to say how I feel as Im usually good with pain and I don't cry often.

Rbear9 · 30/01/2025 11:29

Hi everyone, I had my glucose tolerance test today - I’m beyond anxious about the results but hoping all is fine. The bloods weren’t too bad (I am typically hard to get blood from) and the drink itself, although not great and very thick, didn’t make me sick. Anyone else going through the wait for the GTT results?
