So we’ve been TTC baby #2 for 5 months. Had a positive test in April that sadly ended in a chemical pregnancy. So this is cycle 3 since then and got a very faint positive on an internet cheapie last night at 9dpo. I went out and bout a CB digital today and have got my BFP confirmed today on it 😊
My EDD is 4th April 2025 going from LMP and cycle length.
I’m aware it’s very early days and anything can happen that’s why I’ve decided not to tell anyone I know until after my period is due which is Friday. Just can’t keep it to myself and would love for others to join and talk to who have recently found out they are expecting in April 2025!

Hi everyone, currently 15 weeks and am due for a flu jab. Dont know if I am overthinking but this is my third pregnancy, the first 2 ending in early miscarriage. Never had a flu jab before and read some things online that it can cause miscarriage. Has anyone else had the flu jab in pregnancy after recurrent miscarriages?

I’ve got mine tomorrow - covid and flu jabs. From what I’ve read they are both perfectly safe. There is more harm to your baby if you happen to catch covid than from the jab. ❤️

I’ve had 2 babies before and the flu jab has been perfectly safe. Please don’t worry, I’m sure your dr will talk through it with you to ease your worries if you need to ❤️.

I was in the same position on Monday so know exactly how you’re feeling. Hope it all goes okay today ❤️

Everything was so perfect! Teared up seeing how wriggly the little baby was. We are so happy!

rlar · 16/10/2024 11:15

Is anyone else around the 15 week mark (I’m 15+3 today, first pregnancy) with absolutely no sign of a bump or any bodily changes really?

Same actually! Although I'm second pregnancy. I think any 'bump' at the moment is a result of all the excess of crisps I ate last month. It'll happen- I think last time round by 20 weeks bump was showing- just got to get through the awkward is she pregnant or just eaten too many pies phase!

I think I’d fit in this category. I’m 15+1 and don’t think it’s noticeable that I’m pregnant. Still wearing most of my clothes but I’ve subbed out tight jeans for softer options. Told work this week but most people have no idea!

I thought I had weathered the storm and emerged as I was enjoying food again and able to eat normal portions but I’ve had a killer headache & nausea for the past two days. Think it’s probably because I’m so tired (need half term) - trying to drink lots of water and looking ahead to the weekend. Hopefully we both feel better soon - everyone says 2nd trimester is supposed to be far more enjoyable!

I feel like I have a bump but I think a lot of it is just the carbs I've eaten in the 1st trimester. I kind of hate that I just look like I've put on weight (plus size to start with but had been losing prior to getting pregnant). Can't wait for a bump!

ificouldgoback · 16/10/2024 16:27

I’m 15+1 and seem to be showing a little bit, I don’t think it’s noticeable under clothes or if you didn’t know I was pregnant. We still haven’t announced to family, we plan to this weekend, so it’s quite lucky that I’m not showing lots just yet.

Is anyone else absolutely exhausted? I’m really struggling to get much done and my DC have had way too much screen time but I’m just so lethargic constantly.

I’m plus size too and was also losing weight prior to pregnancy. Have you been taking photos? I’ve started to see the difference in my bump! It does look like I’ve just got a bit of a belly at the moment but I know it’s not that, I know it’s baby and it’s actually the most confident I’ve felt in my body for a long time! A properly obvious bump will come for both of us 😊 I think lots of people feel this way when it’s small but noticeable enough, regardless of pre-pregnancy weight/size 😊

I know there are a few teachers on this group - anyone thinking of taking shared parental leave?

I'm not a teacher but am thinking of taking SPL. 9 months mat leave for me then 3 months SPL for DH. What about you?

Oxforddictionary12 · 17/10/2024 15:21

I'm trying to get my head round shared parental leave- as I understand it, you stop your maternity leave, which allows your partner to recieve your maternity pay (in place of their normal income)
If I'm correct in this- SPL is only really viable if you have a lot of savings that can see you through or you and your partner earn a similar amount. My husband earns more than me and I don't see how we can possibly take the hit on his wage rather than mine let alone dream of take any unpaid leave.
Please correct me if I'm wrong on this. I wish I had been aware of SPL with baby number 1 and still teaching- it might have been an option.
Pregnant and screwed I know have lots to say on the topic of low maternity pay.

Yes this is how it works and also why I don’t be splitting with my husband as he earns a lot more than I do. I have worked with someone who took over from his partner to do the last 6 weeks so I know people do use it but I think it’s only really a viable option if you and your partner are on a similar salary or if you earn more.

I’ve been at the same company for over 8 years and never really looked into the maternity package but I won’t be getting a very good deal. 2 months full pay, 1 month at half pay and then down to statutory. It really is awful for women!

gg9320 · 17/10/2024 18:30

Some companies offer enhanced shared parental leave e.g my partner gets 6 weeks paid SPL on top of the 2 weeks paternity. It did mean I got 6 weeks less statutory. Worth checking if partner’s are entitled to more than statutory!

hopeful4us · 17/10/2024 18:36

@Whenyoupickapawpaw I’m not sure if it will actually benefit us but I’m looking into it!

@Oxforddictionary12 Your partner doesn’t have to split the leave with you. SPL means you can take your leave in chunks, for me as a teacher this means I should be able to return to work and then resume leave later. But with an April birth I’m not sure it’ll benefit us. Need to do some further digging!
