Anyone else due January 2025?

I’m coming up to 16 weeks with my second. This time seems to be flying by as life is much busier with a nearly 2 year old!

Luckily, felt pretty much fine the whole way through so far, albeit being tired. However, I was diagnosed with GD and currently diet controlled, which is bit of a bummer.

How are you feeling?

@Uguberry that is a great idea!

Uguberry · 31/10/2024 08:21

@Firsttimetrier Haha forgot about that! It's okay, it's very exciting 🥰

@BeLemonQuoter I did it and at first he thought the heart was pink just because it was a heart... he's been referring to baby as him for months so sure it's a boy, even though he was hoping for a girl, so he couldn't believe it was true

whatisthebabyname · 01/11/2024 20:52

Hey ladies, hope you're all well😊I'm 27 weeks today, due 31st January. Has anyone had lightning crotch this early on? I know it's common in the third trimester and I'm nearly there but I thought it was later in the third trimester. It's just started this afternoon and it's pretty constant tbh. Every few seconds I get a sharp jolt. Probably just something else to add to the list of things making me feel so uncomfortable😅

MrsNT · 01/11/2024 22:53

Hey mommies to be

Hope all is well
Is anyone getting the RSV vaccine? Midwife mentioned it to me but a bit reluctant to get it as it's fairly recently they have started offering to pregnant women

Sarah268 · 02/11/2024 05:51

@MrsNT yes i had mine the other day, no ill effects on me. I tend to normally follow medical advice as my knowledge on these things is very limited. Also had whooping cough and Covid.

@whatisthebabyname sorry lovely I can’t comment on this as it’s my first and I haven’t had any yet. Hopefully someone else can though!

I feel like time is starting to fly a bit now…!

Uguberry · 02/11/2024 06:22

@whatisthebabyname I've been getting it on and off for a while, feels like cramps to me but it's not an easy body part to stretch out (don't say it 🤣🤣) so I shuffle about and hope it eases. From what I've read iirc it's either the weight and pressure from your uterus affecting blood flow or the position baby is in, and if it's the latter hopefully you can get baby to shift a little and it won't be so bad. But yes, the list gets longer!

BeLemonQuoter · 02/11/2024 07:42

@MrsNT I have got my RSV vaccine a few days ago.
@whatisthebabyname I am lucky so far not to experience it.

Firsttimetrier · 02/11/2024 09:00

@MrsNT I’m getting it next week as my son was hospitalised with it last November and was really poorly, so would rather give this baby as much protection as possible.

Wouldn’t wish RSV on anyone.

I've had this for a few weeks but only recently came across the term, which is quite a good description! In my case I'm pretty sure it's because I have a fibroid there which is pressing on the nerves, it's definitely worse when I've done lots of walking or sometimes just being on my feet for a while.

If it's the baby's position hopefully they might shift around?

whatisthebabyname · 02/11/2024 20:24

Thanks @Uguberry and @whenthelevee

I'm thinking it was the position he's in. It's not so bad today and he moved loads this morning so I reckon he's changed position now.

My son was in hospital for a few weeks when he was 3 due to a different respiratory virus (adenovirus) plus sleep apnea (long story!). Most of the other kids on the ward, also on oxygen, had RSV. I spoke with some parents whose kids seemed to be in and out of hospital with RSV all the time. It's so worrying to see your child so unwell that they cannot breathe on their own.

Personally, I feel so lucky that this vaccine is now being offered, especially for those of us with winter babies. The safety thresholds for rolling these out are extremely high, and plenty of women have had it in the US.

Anyone?

This is my secondary pregnancy with it and I know now it probably feels like the end of the world (I cried for about a week straight when I was first diagnosed with my first), but there’s a really helpful website and FB group which made it much more manageable.

I use this website for all of my recipes and info and how to balance meals not to spike your blood sugars. I’ve been diet controlled since 13 weeks with this pregnancy and 32 weeks tomorrow. My first was also diet controlled and I was diagnosed at 24 weeks.

Their FB group, GDUK, is also a great source of info.

@Firsttimetrier Thank you so much for this supportive message! I cried all day when i found out I'm not sure what it is its just made everything more stressful ..

Have you had a natural birth then or were you induced? Is it possible to still have a vaginal delivery? Thanks x

My waters went the day before I was due to be induced but then contractions didn’t start (had been on and off for a few days before, frustratingly!), so I was induced for that reason, rather than the GD. Unfortunately, it ended in an emergency section but due to baby pooping in the womb and his position.

This time around, I’m aiming for a VBAC and said to the consultant I won’t be induced with any hormones as it increases any risks with a VBAC and will only have intervention at 40+5 as that’s the advice from the NICE on GD.

It can be a lot to get your head around but fats and proteins are your friend, there’s loads of lovely desserts and meals on that website, and you can still have the birth you want if you research and arm yourself with advice.

Hey mommies
What week are U planning to start raspberry tea and dates. Also I have raspberry tea leaves from 2yrs ago. That should still B ok to use right?

Uguberry · 15/11/2024 21:45

@MrsNT Even though nothing is proven to actually work I will be trying EVERYTHING from 37 weeks on 😂 If the tea has been stored correctly I don't see why it couldn't be used, although it might have lost potency.

I'm thinking of asking to be induced around 38 weeks, even though there's no medical reason to be. I am already so anxious about how long there is still to go and I feel like it will only get worse as time goes on. I've been weighing up the risks and benefits for a long time, but I don't know if it's something you can even request?

BeLemonQuoter · 16/11/2024 08:20

@MrsNT I haven't started drinking raspberry tea, but I will ask at my next antenatal appointment, if the consultant see any problem with it. Probably won't and I like drinking herb teas, so why not give it a go. 2 years old tea is not harmful, but it might be less aromatic.

@Uguberry I have to give birth in either way by the 39th week, and I am inclined to have cesarian instead if there is absolutely no sign of labour, but I might give induction a go if my body started to prepare. I am sure you can ask about having an induction at 38 weeks, they might agree to do it. I think it all depends on your pregnancy and the attitude of your NHS trust to it.

Firsttimetrier · 16/11/2024 08:50

@Uguberry its your pregnancy, so your trust should accommodate any requests.

I had an induction with my first and they are recommending me to have another with this one by 39 weeks. However, I’m declining anyway intervention until 40+5. I think one of the negative things with induction is if baby isn’t ready, inductions can fail and end up in emergency c-sections. This is what happened in my first pregnancy and now I’m going to attempt a VBAC. So I think one thing to consider is if you want another baby, are you happy to have a section with a toddler/older child as you wouldn’t be able to lift them etc. That’s a big reason why I’m going for a VBAC but with no intervention as that increases the risk of failure.

Uguberry · 16/11/2024 20:58

Thank you so much for your replies. I'm not giving birth in the UK so policies are different and I know I should be able to approach my provider about it but I didn't know if it would be seen as a stupid question/request.

@BeLemonQuoter may I ask why you have to deliver before 39 weeks? That's what I'm worried about with induction, that if my body isn't ready and doesn't respond to it would that mean a long, painful labour that ends in a cesarean anyway. I'm not afraid of a surgery outcome but don't want to unnecessarily put baby through that extra stress.

@Firsttimetrier Is it because of GD they want to intervene? Thank you for the warning and I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience with your first birth. I hope you get a chance to do the VBAC.

BeLemonQuoter · 17/11/2024 00:05

@Uguberry it is mainly becaus3 my age (42 years) and having an ivf pregnancy. I am not sure if it has to be done by the beginning or the end of the 39th week, but according to the statistics, the chance of stillbirth increases after that time ( but still very small chance).

There are other risk factors too that could bring forward the birth for me (high inhibin-a made them worry about the placenta and preeclampsia, and single umbilical artery was found on the ultrasound), but so far everything seems perfect, baby girl is growing well and healthy.

With my first, he didn’t go head down until 35 weeks and then wasn’t engaged until 37 weeks.

How many weeks are you? They only worry if they aren’t head down at 36 weeks.

Also, try spinning babies website as they have exercises to get baby head down.

I am lucky, I hope, our girl is head down since the beginning. She has never been in any other position during the scans, and we had a lot of them, and sometimes i wonder if i should worry about this or not.

32 weeks now and baby's head has been down low and in position from 31 weeks x I don't think
It's an issue if it's head is not in position yet though I'm sure ..
