I am back to my pram/car seat dilemma!!!

I was thinking of going for something like this it says from birth all the way through! But does the actual seat click out of the isofix at all? Like it sounds stupid but can you take the car seat into the hospital when taking baby home? Or is it one that stays in the car!?? It doesn't have the handle on like the small ones you get with the pram travel systems?

No, these types of seats are fixed in the car, same as the Joie 360 and similar.
I know they say they can be used from
birth but I don’t think they’re a very good option for newborns both in terms of practicality and safety.

Ok I think I'll hold off on one of these then until she's older!

Are the isofix bases all the same? If I get a pram with car seat and isofix base, will the second stage car seat fit the isofix/I won't need to buy another isofix??? I find it all soooooooo confusing

SC126 · 28/07/2024 19:23

@TripleESept24 most isofix bases can’t be used for second stage seat. There are a couple that can if you do some research (I’m thinking maxi cosi do one) but tbh if you want a spin seat like the joie 360 as a second seat then you won’t need to reuse the isofix base from the baby seat anyway. Car seats cost an actual fortune but are worth every penny. We always have to buy for each car too so over the years I’ve spent at least £1k for my eldest who’s now in a high back booster which should last him until he no longer needs a seat.

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 28/07/2024 20:28

Coming on for a moan - I am so uncomfortable!!

I always like to lay on the sofa to chill - but when I lay down I have burning lava in my throat and my hips start to hurt after 0.5 seconds

And when I sit I just can't get comfy! I end up slouching on one side then baby digs whatever limb it is into my hip bone or ribs and sprags against them so I have to keep switching sides to lean on, and then it makes my back hurt!

SC126 · 28/07/2024 20:31

@BeautyAndTheBump1 feel like I could have wrote that myself. Struggle to get comfy slouching on the sofa or lying back as I get heartburn or back ache. I lean forward and baby pushes their bum painfully at the top of my bump. If I lie on side they go into my ribs. My bump also feels super full and stretched like it can’t blow up anymore!

Lillers · 28/07/2024 20:37

@BeautyAndTheBump1 @SC126 Right there with you both. There is just no position that I find comfortable anymore. If I manage to take pressure off one thing, pain crops up somewhere else. Waaah.

SC126 · 28/07/2024 20:42

The difference in my bump size in just two weeks is mad! Still got 5 more weeks and already feels like my skin could burst.

@TripleESept24 car seats are major confusing to begin with.
There's some great car seat safety Facebook pages that help massively.

There aren't any except maybe 1 that are truly a good fit from birth and last past infant carrier stage. But then like you say can't be lifted out of car for hospital etc. Xx

FuppinNora · 28/07/2024 22:17

Anyone with really bad indigestion/reflux and are non stop eating rennies like I was - there is hope! Although I'm only on day 2 of them I was prescribed Losec and I could cry with happiness. I haven't had one acid reflux/indigestion today after food. I'm just annoyed I didn't speak up sooner. It was like a fire in my stomach/throat day and night. I pray it stays this way as it is nice to eat food and enjoy it.

Signed off from work too, good weekend all round!!

SantasRubiksCube · 29/07/2024 08:02

Sorry all I'm back for a whine, 34+4 today and I'm so miserable I could cry. I feel like I've just been ill on and off for the whole of the third trimester, nothing serious thankfully but just general illnesses, I'm so fed up of feeling exhausted and crappy 😞 currently on antibiotics for strep throat, just want to stay in bed but got to entertain my other kids for the holidays, DH works full time and obviously as I'm not well we can't go to visit anyone/be around anyone else closely. I don't really know why I'm here telling everyone this I suppose I just need to tell other people who may understand how rubbish it is to be pregnant and feel so run down.

malimoon · 29/07/2024 08:46

Sorry you're feeling crappy @SantasRubiksCube , hope the antibiotics kick in soon and your throat feels better at least!

In unrelated news I woke up y'day morning with a big damp patch on my pyjama top and further investigation (I squeezed) reveals that I am indeed producing milk?! This is my first baby so all new to me but I was like wtf, hahahaha. I'm only at 31+3, chill out boobs you're still on standby for a while!!

rupertbear91 · 29/07/2024 10:06

Hope you're feeling better soon @SantasRubiksCube I'm still feeling pretty rubbish and my partner has gone away to a wedding now till tomorrow. I'm normally so independent but being left with 3 dogs a horse and 28 degrees heat when I'm so dizzy I have to say I'm feeling pretty vulnerable and sad.

@malimoon mine have been leaking at night off and on for about 3/4 weeks and only from my right boob. It's very strange 🤦🏽‍♀️ some nights I have a massive wet patch other nights there is non

malimoon · 29/07/2024 10:20

@rupertbear91 yeah mine was just my left that leaked!! Weird but interesting hahaha, still discovering all the things our bodies can do I guess

HRP1990 · 29/07/2024 11:20

Can we discuss the price of medjool dates please!? I cannot believe I just paid £5 in Tesco! 🥹 This baby better fly out of me

Xur · 29/07/2024 12:01

@HRP1990 the tesco ones are not even good! 🤢 Every other week I am travelling to another town to catch some independent traders at a local market to get the good ones! 😑

mrsbgb · 29/07/2024 12:55

@HRP1990 yes they’re so expensive and so disappointing! I don’t LOVE dates anyway… any tips from anyone to make them tastier?! I see about having them with peanut butter but I have a nut allergy so might not be my smartest move 😂

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 29/07/2024 13:01

I've seen on tiktok people coating the dates in melted chocolate then letting them set and eating them!

TripleESept24 · 29/07/2024 13:27

So.... I've just had my hospital on the phone to say my prescription is ready. I asked exactly what this prescription is? (It's since I told them I tested positive for covid) And she said it's bloody thinner injections! A two week course! I said well why are they prescribed and who's injecting me she said they are self administered into your belly!

What the hell!! I am not comfortable with this at all! I said I'd call and speak to my midwife. I feel like I'm over the worst of the covid now and on the mend anyway.

Has anyone heard of this!!!???

SC126 · 29/07/2024 13:32

@TripleESept24 you can also inject into your thigh if you don’t want to do belly. It’s to prevent blood clots.

rupertbear91 · 29/07/2024 13:39

@TripleESept24 I was on them for suspected blood clot they told me not to inject into my stomach whilst pregnant I had to inject my thigh. Well I got my partner to I'm a wimp

Cinai · 29/07/2024 13:39

Have you been told to start using blood thinning injections before giving birth? I only knew about their use after birth, mostly after a c section.

SC126 · 29/07/2024 14:04

@Cinai they can be prescribed at any point where you either already have a blood clot or are at high risk of getting one such as after surgery or if your not as active due to other health reasons.

I had to inject myself after my had my daughter (I was covid positive at the time) I didn’t ask what they were for, so it could have been because I had covid or birth related reasons?

TripleESept24 · 29/07/2024 15:15

Am I really at high risk of blood clots because I've tested COVID positive? 🤔 I don't fancy it tbh!!!

I've just been for a long walk with the dog and am active. I'm not even home until Wednesday anyway...... So I'll see how I go and go see them when I'm back
